Rivian R1T Camp Kitchen Walkthrough with RJ

i've been getting a lot of questions about the camp kitchen which goes into the gear tunnel so rachel here who's the lead engineer for this is going to walk us through it so we're going to pull it out and rachel walk us through this and tell us uh tell us about designing it and engineering it um i'm pretty lucky i've got to do this so we've gone through a lot over the last year a lot of design inspirations on this but we've landed on something that we're pretty stoked about so this is the cooktop this is the sink module it's completely modular design so there's like cooktop module sink module water module here um there's a little pop-out sink under here and uh hose reel in the water bottle there so your hose will just sit here and you can fill up your sink when you're doing your dishes um we'll also have like a lighting system which goes in here so we have will plug two light beautiful string lights that will sit up here and you've got just the sea power in your bottle there i'll show you the drawers and all the cool kit in the drawers yeah so when when you get your cam kitchen it'll come with a 30 piece snowflake kitchen set these are i mean just wonderfully curated titanium plates really nicely done by the team yeah then you've got all of your pots and pans in here uh pour overs and coffee pots for the coffee lovers there's actually a coffee grinder in here which is like one of my favorite things um and a little charcuterie for your nipple glasses very cool so the other thing that we get asked about all the time is if you have a camp kitchen can you still use the gear tunnel and we designed as rachel so we designed it to be made of three separate removable modules and these three modules we'll show you they come off really easily and then what's left is what we call the gear tunnel shuttle and the shuttle has you can use it for for putting anything on we'll have in the future more accessories that go on top of it but these four you pick it up and same for the other and on this uh shuttle we also have 110 volt plugs two of them as well as two 12-volt plugs yeah and then when you want to put it away you're just coming to there and you still have tons of room inside the gear tunnel and the shuttle actually is nice for putting things on as well yeah very cool so what's your favorite part about the uh the camp kitchen getting to use it it feels like a real kitchen like you don't compromise at all when you could be on it we had we took this out on a camping trip and there was four of us um two people cooking either side and there's so much space it was like yeah cooking in my own kitchen awesome awesome thanks rachel all right cool

It's a really cool design, although I suspect very few people who buy the trucks will actually use it. Canoo pickup looks like it has a lot less space in that area of the truck, but perhaps they could have a flip-out stove option in the frunk area. They've shown that area being used as a work table and storage for power tools, but many people won't be using it for that. Frunk stove would also allow it to be used for tailgating purposes, while a design like Rivian's would be hard to use in a parking lot without taking up 2 parking spaces.
