Rise of Karl Jacobs - MrBeast's Gamer Boy

carl jacobs is one of the main members of the fast growing channel mr beast he has been seen across all corners of the internet especially the minecraft community he's a member of the widely popular dream smp and even has a 100 minecraft championship winry he frequently appears on mr b's gaming mr b shorts and beast reacts even just recently he began his own youtube channel carl in mysteries videos he's the person everyone likes to mess around with it goes without saying that carl jacobs is a super well-known internet personality despite his popularity not much is known about how carl got to where he is today to a lot of people he sort of just popped into existence with so little known about him this begs the question how did carl jacobs rise to fame how did he navigate his way through the internet in what ways has he changed over the years today we'll be going on a journey through time a journey exploring how small time roblox player gamer boy carl became the famous beast gang goofball we all know and love today this is the rise of carl jacobs the story of carl jacobs begins with instagram his first still public instagram post was made on july 4th 2012. from this point on crawl would continue to post images on instagram every so often these instagram posts corresponded with life events events such as vacations and homecoming carl was a boy living his life to the fullest from going to conventions to laying on rows of mountain dew he even met bill murray from groundhog day cool carl could convey his carl cajole his instagram was that of any aging adolescent he also used game tz a website for buying and trading games and movies he was a member since 2010 and has even logged in pretty recently he also created a youtube account lord meowfrow around the same time as his instagram on july 12 2012. this channel is mostly empty but there is one video called alex being a bark tark carl started writing reviews for game tz in may 2013 in early 2015 he was asked to join in as a website's fifth editor for community uploaded reviews his life began to change in may 2016. carl graduated school on may 29th in the midst of preparing for this huge life event he began streaming on twitch carl created his twitch account on may 16 2016 his first stream happened on may 18th and featured the game uncharted 4 of thief send notably this was the only game carl gave an a-plus rating on game tz also on that same day he created his roblox account roblox became his main game from here on he'd stream various video games attracting a small audience in those days carl was known as gamer boy carl gamer boy carl started a podcast called gamer boy tops this prompted a youtube channel soundcloud account and listen notes account what was this podcast about according to his old youtube description gamerboy talked is a podcast generally focusing on different topics based around the world of gaming and entertainment as a whole pressing matters as well as simple discussions are released in a weekly podcast every friday while all the gamerboy talks episodes have since been taken down from what we can see we can tell that there were at least 10 episodes despite the audio for this podcast being lost we can tell what each episode was about from the descriptions left on listen notes the first episode was about ranking pixar movies from worst to best the podcast would go on to discuss film buffs live action disney nostalgia and more the podcast even had an episode about interviewing a video game designer the last known episode episode 10 was about the e3 video game event this was posted on june 19th 2017. sadly after that there was no more gamerboy talks at least to my knowledge also throughout 2017 carl wrote some articles for gamerbolt his first article titled horizon zero dawn review was written on march 10th carl jacobs would continue to write game reviews like this reviews for games including caraway unfolded until dawn rush of blood psychonauts and duck dynasty as carl continued to write articles he focused less on reviews the first of these non-review articles zootopia money cycle theory dives into the nuances of the zootopian economy carl takes note of the fact that a large popsicle costs 15 a popsicle that is oversized the gerbils but normal size to an elephant with this in mind he proposes how the cost of living for larger animals must be greater than that for smaller ones large animals must pay more simply because of their genetics using this he made a groundbreaking theory that each animal is giving a salary based on their size smaller animals make less and larger ones but taking costs of living into account their salaries are proportional this article changes the way you view zootopia so thank you carl for your amazing journalism carl jacobs would continue to write even more articles throughout the year he closely followed pax quest gave some news and even wrote some editorials his last article what makes persona 5 so alluring was published on december 14th 2017. this was the last written work of the greatest journalist to ever live we lost more than we can ever imagine that day what would carl the hookup beat you now you cry i guess that means it's time to speed up you think you beat me but you don't i guess that's just a mix-up following the disappointing downfall of his journalistic works carl would ramp up his efforts on his twitch channel he grew a lot throughout 2018 he created the gamer boy carlos shirt on roblox in february the same day he founded a fashion group called oof white this group has two shirts for sale oof white long sleeve and oof white hoodie crawl became part of a youtube channel named game patrol from what we can see today this channel doesn't have that many videos public a lot of their videos were privated including carl's banger rap playing roblox let's get it minecraft is bad we get it playing roblox let's get it minecraft is bad we get it from the video's still up today carl appears in one video titled all codes roblox wild revolvers he is sitting in a bathtub with a laptop throughout 2018 especially in may and august carl played a lot of auto rap battles on roblox not only that but he featured on the epic masterpiece epic water rap 2k18 props were a big part of gamer boy carl's image carl continued to stream until may 2019 it was at this time when everything came to a halt carl was not seen on twitch though he did post a bit on instagram what happened next would significantly change his life for the better if you're enjoying this was moving to north carolina to be closer to him this was a huge deal carl managed to snag his spot on the fast-moving beast bus he was all uphill from there on august 28th crawl posted on instagram announcing that he had played a huge role in creating a mr bro video mr bro being mr b's brother who was beginning his own youtube channel carl directed shot and edited a large portion of the video we now know as i am mr b's secret brother from there on out carl worked for mr beast's brother and his new channel he also occasionally helped mr beast for mr beast he edited the viral video planting 20 million trees my biggest project ever which was uploaded on october 25th not only that but carl's first public twitter posts were also made during the month of october his first twitter comment which i absolutely ratioed was made on october 19th his first actual tweet that is still up was made on october 24th to accompany this change gamer boy carl decided to rebrand himself as carl jacobs the character development was insane it wasn't even long before he got a star in a video as an actual contestant the first challenge carl appeared in was in mr bros last leave halloween candy wins ten thousand dollars in this video which was published on november 1st 2019. carl jacobs is one of four competitors having to stay in a tub of candy for as long as possible as a matter of fact his entrance into the competition was pretty last minute he was helping set up a challenge by dumping some candy and as he was doing that he was approached and asked whether or not he wanted to compete he said yes throughout the challenge as you'd expect carl sat in a bunch of candy what was a big twist he was in his underwear the entire time as hours went by his competitors began to leave in the end it was just him versus his opponent hannah this was the ultimate stalemate in order to win carl struck a deal with her hannah would get 40 of the prize money a silly band and a mcchicken under the condition that she'd let him win hannah accepted the offer and carl won carl jacobs also made his first appearance on one of mr b's side channel's beast 3x his first video there was watermelon vs 1000 degree hydraulic press uploaded on december 12th this video featured him with chris while this video may not seem that significant in the grand scheme of things it showcases one of the most important friendships that helped carl get to where he is today you see chrislen carl got along well super well in fact it got to the point where chris said that he didn't want to record a mr beast video unless carl was present mr beast aka jimmy did not want to steal crawl from his brother but chris really put him in a dilemma now over time carl would assimilate more and more with the mr beast crew and eventually became a full-on member as you might expect it didn't take that long before he competed in a big mr beast challenge carl's first appearance as a competitor on the main mr beast channel was in the 60 000 extreme hide and seek challenge uploaded on january 17th 2020. throughout the video crawl was taunted with threats related to sonic and meet the robinsons he made it into the final two but in the end carl was found by chris losing him the challenge carl may have lost the battle but he won the war as he started to frequently appear in mr beast's videos his second appearance was just over a week later and i went back to boy scouts for a day in this video the person who won the most badges would get twenty thousand dollars he was part of a three-way tie for first carl didn't last long in the tiebreaker only losing because he was not subscribed to mr beast he had come so far only to lose like that in the midst of all this carl began posting on tick tock his first tick tock video was made on january 12th featuring him dancing at an airport he posts videos frequently showing off different parts of his life as carl began to build a new online persona this tick tock account has significantly helped him stand out crawl posted his first viral tick tock with over a million views on april 30th it features chris and well i'll let the video speak for itself this video now sits at over 4.8 million views and counting as of the writing of the script his tick tock has over 1.6 million followers making this carl's biggest social media to this day carl solely made his way into becoming one of the four main members of the beast gang as jake the viking left to pursue his own thing carl received more attention eventually video after video started featuring him prominently as one of the main members starting with giving one million dollars of food to people in need uploaded on march 27 2020 mr beast began a gaming channel that further solidified this image beginning with its first video last to survive wins ten thousand dollars on may 12th when mr b started a gaming channel he sent shockwaves across the minecraft community mr beast videos were very similar to another channel who had been doing minecraft challenges for money as well skeppy because of these similarities a ton of people wanted the two channels to collaborate with each other mr beast and the beast gang collaborated with skeppy twice first for a skeppy video then for a mister beast challenge request for collaborations also led to one with dream the beast gang participated in a minecraft manhunt against dream this video got over 21 million views and counting at this point carl had barely streamed at all in over a year while he did do two streams in april and may 2020 the last time he took twitch seriously was in may of the previous year this was all about to change on july 26th carl began a huge push in growing his twitch channel by streaming some apex legends from then on carl would stream way more consistently as a result he started to see some movement in his twitter growth this twitch would be further promoted by a huge mr beast challenge for everyone on july 30th mr b set up a 100 000 challenge that anyone could participate in it was this huge multi-step riddle that got everyone talking carl was in a part of it that promoted his twitch channel as a result even more people began to follow him carl would see the most growth when he reacted to mr beast videos one of the biggest contributing streams was when he reacted to the mr beast firework video before that he averaged about 200 viewers per stream after that however he would get around 2 000. karl began to integrate himself more into the minecraft community and he did this by interacting with it on twitter it seemed like he was everywhere he even got to compete in the minecraft twitch rivals tournament carl became so integrated into the community that on august 26th he convinced his fans to get hashtag call for dream smp on twitter trending carl was quickly invited to the server and later that day he played on it at this point dream smp was a talk of the minecraft community and even still is today it was by far the biggest server for minecraft content creators to dream on all the biggest minecraft streamers were there people like dream tommy in it tubo wilbur sood and many many more around the time he began to play on the server he saw significant growth in his twitch followers and the dream smp no doubt contributed a lot on the actual smb he was met with a warm welcome he also built hut's pizza with some help from eric and puns carl mostly does comedy streams of quackity dream and other members of the smp for the most part he is not deep into the server's lore still this has helped catapult him into popularity aside from dream smp he has also involved himself in the community in other ways carl jacobs and minecraft championship team the dream george not found and sapnap his team ended up winning carl absolutely carried the team as of the making of this video that was the only time he competed giving him a 100 win rate not only that but he's also appeared on the popular twitch show love or host both as a contestant and as a helper up to this point carl has been competing in mr beast challenges for almost a year and despite his numerous efforts he has always fallen short he may have won challenges on other channels but never on a main channel mr beast video this was all about to change in a single moment everything went down [Applause] [Music] today carl jacobs is continuing to see massive growth in popularity even less than a week ago he started a new youtube channel that already has 143 000 subscribers socialblade predicts that the eboy will hit 1 million twitch followers sometime within the next 40 days and i wouldn't doubt it carl's story is one that should inspire all of us he went from roblox player gamerboy carl to working for mr bro and mr beast to
