but how long have you worked here seven years well congratulations you just bought the stupidest thing you've bought in seven years just tell me how much you paid for them you never know what's gonna come through that door hi and welcome to top ten lists where today we'll be looking at those embarrassing moments when the Pawn Stars got the upper hand over a customer this is ten times that the Pawn Stars scammed sellers and be sure to watch until the end because you might have the chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card number 10 Willie Mays Jersey now why not begin our list in a positive manner we know that the Pawn Stars are going to haggle their way into a low price when it comes to buying an item and it's necessary if you're going to resell the item to make some kind of profit sometimes though even when negotiating a lowest price the Pawn Stars can still get scammed anyways in a 2012 season episode a seller once came in with a supposedly game-worn Willie Mays San Francisco Giants uniform from 1961 now this turned out not to be the case and despite Chumlee being the responsible one in the situation giving big Hoss every reason not to buy the Jersey he'd still they did anyway for an astounding $31,000 so after that disaster two years would go by as the shop would attempt to sell it off in store at a ridiculous price of 80 grand they were unsuccessful of course and would ultimately auction it off for 19200 knowing that it was fake as by now they'd likely done their due diligence on the uniform itself so while the shop itself took a loss of over 11 grand the buyer at the auction got it even worse because it turns out the Jersey wasn't even owned by Mays let alone ever worn and was really a simple salesman sample that was worth at best maybe $3,000 this left the poor sap to take a hit of his own at a potential loss of roughly 17 grand [Music] number nine Yahtzee sugu sword crossing paths once again with a lawyer who sold the shop a grammy that they could not sell by law quarry big Hoss Harrison knew that he had to be cautious but it's obvious that he knew exactly what he was dealing with at least by judging his backroom confession samurais were highly skilled Japanese warriors and their main weapon was her sword the master swordsman who made him really had to make him perfect so we could take over six months to finish one this time bringing in a Yahtzee sugu samurai sword which a client left is collateral David the seller came into the shop unsure of what to expect Corey knew the potential that the item had however which is why he had his starting bid at a rather low price of just $800 probably my biggest concern is whether or not this can be restored in the States eventually the two came to an agreement on 1500 which isn't totally awful since David didn't know what he was doing to begin with I'll come down to 2,000 we can only imagine David's face though if he found out that it was actually worth about six thousand in its current state during the appraisal and if he were to drop about three thousand to get it restored it could have gone for as much as fifteen grand okay number eight Hotchkiss cannon carrying Rick out into the shop parking lot a field artillery collector by the name of Chuck surprised him with an authentic fully functional 19th century Hotchkiss cannon and with such a big price tag and minimal knowledge of the item Rick of course brought in a friend to appraise it okay unfortunately however Chuck's downfall was committing one of the worst mistakes that any novice negotiator could make giving up his lowest price first before any of the haggling would commence worst of all is that Rick's expert gave the cannon the lowest possible price of 40 grand Rick saw an opportunity and snatched it at least under the condition that the cannon could still fire correctly and much like the Cannonball Chuck's chances of getting another well deserved 10 grand were gone some would say it was the sellers fault for undermining the cannons value especially since he himself is a collector but without hesitation Rick capitalized on the unsuspecting customer tell me about this uber uber interesting that laughs number 7 the white eagle medallion this one could possibly get you interested in a yard sale hunt as long as you know your history you see a Vegas local who also turned out to be a fan of yard sales would stumble upon an interesting looking medallion and was able to pick it up for just 75 cents not long after however the medallion would find its way into a local shop where Rick Harrison would buy it for six grand not a bad investment if you ask me but here's where things get kind of dirty one of Rick's experts would come in to examine the piece and found that it dated as far back as the Czarist occupation of Poland so to put it simple the metal was old and it was rare and okay so the seller did make a nice profit on the exchange but considering how Rick later sold the piece off for measly price of $30,000 I would end up feeling a little bit cheated number 6 a 19th century colt 45 peacemaker now it's not uncommon to see a worn-out aged pistol come through those doors but some of course hold a lot more value than others so in an early season episode when a man carried in an 1890s Colt 45 well brick was nothing short of excited however when the seller mentions that he bought it off of someone for a mere $25 that's when the trouble would begin they eventually however agreed on 3,000 then once Rick did get the revolver appraised his trusty expert actually valued the gun at about 5,000 in the current condition slightly putting Rick into the black but many pistols have many different models and some have been manufactured in a smaller amount of quantities some only in the low hundreds even and for one the original Colt 45 peacemaker began its production in 1873 and was auctioned off at 242 thousand dollars in 1987 now adjusted for inflation that's over five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars in this year and the most expensive gun that was ever sold in the US was for over a million so it just goes to show there's big money to have one of these guns as for the Colt 45s made during the same time period as this one depending on its condition it can sell for anywhere from 2,000 to 50,000 so Rick has a lot of room to go up number five one thousand dollar photo graviers easily one of the biggest profits that the shop ever earned from a sale and it just had to happen before the Pawn Stars even became a thing occurring about 20 years or so a woman had walked into the shop with several pieces of photograph year done by Edward Curtis a famous American photographer now for those not really familiar with this type of thing it's an early process where photographers would use a copper plate that would be coated with a gelatin tissue followed by an etching process to produce print copies no it really makes you realize how fortunate you are to have your iPhone anyways Rick would take a gamble and offer the lady $50 which is what she was actually asking then upon doing some more research he eventually sold them as a set for $20,000 $50 to $20,000 Wow I'm just looking at the letter C and seeing if it is consistent with the rest of the coin number four gold coins jewelry gold bars chains and coins are what make up for most of a pawn shops business and because it's more of a trade off than an actual business there are states which withhold laws to protect sellers and also buyers these laws permit what can be bought sold or tampered with in the case of a pawn or a sale now this time it just so happened to work in favor of the gold silver pawn shop as the laws are different in each state now sometime in 2014 the shop would take in a pile of gold coins that were worth approximately twelve thousand four hundred dollars however the law in Nevada doesn't force a shop to wait the regulated 30 to 90 days before tampering with the items so they did their regular routine and melted them down into a collection now we're assuming that the owner of the collection was planning on taking the coins back as he filed a lawsuit against Rick in the pawn shop sadly however Rick knew the law was on his side and no further action was able to be taken I have a script of the Godfather okay it came with a picture of the Godfather in an autograph inside signed by a number three The Godfather okay so technically this isn't a ripoff since the seller Diane didn't part with the item but considering how little that Rick was willing to hand her compared to what she later received in an auction Rick must have purposely given her a bad offer 500 bucks with Diane bringing in an original screenplay of The Godfather signed by Al Pacino himself Rick brought in his handwriting expert to of--the anticipate the signature and yes it was actually very real this is Al Pacino's signature great all right so what's Al Pacino's signature worth on a script well I'd say no but even though the expert said that it was worth even a few grand Rick would offer her just five hundred dollars with the bottom line being that he'd only get maybe a grand out of it with that she just simply walked out and at least now she knows that it's the real deal which came in handy when the signed piece of work would later be auctioned off for a well-deserved $12,000 it gets better though we said that it was signed by Al but it actually wasn't Al Pacino it was actually already one of the producers of the film so you might want to get yourself a new handwriting expert Rick so this is my 1962 Lincoln Continental works good I got it from New Jersey number two a 1962 Lincoln Continental in the fifth episode of the series seller Devin brought in a very clean-looking 1962 Lincoln Continental the engine had been worked on the body was in great shape but that interior some serious work if it was going to be sold so assuming that Devon wanted 13 or 14 grand for the beauty which is maybe how much he had put into partially restoring it agreeing on 9500 can feel like a loss though it's better than nothing typically though vintage cars are going to go up in value and not undersell for what they were worth brand-new 10,000 by the way the interior would receive about 15 grand worth of work to bring it to showroom shape so it's almost twenty five thousand already dropped on the piece by the end though they were left with a car valued at around 35 grand and with the right buyer it could reach up to even 70 grand believe it or not so even though the seller couldn't shove out an extra 15 K he didn't achieve its full value which is unfortunate and was left with an assumed four to five thousand dollar loss it was printed and 1484 one of the oldest printed books another number one a book of Isaac Newton's historical mathematician Sir Isaac Newton was a great man revolutionary in the scientific community to say the least and he loved to read a book of his could be considered priceless by many maybe a historical artifact so what else is there but to have one enter into the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop with one the seller didn't have any kind of papers with it but despite its restored cover the old man's book expert did call it out to be a real piece of Sir Newton's collection however considering the godfather' mishap who really knows what to think if it was real that $20,000 valuation that the book expert would offer is meaningless and the mere seven thousand that the old man coughed up for the item was a total ripoff and that concludes what are 10 times that the Pawn Stars scammed the seller feel free to let us know in the comments below what you thought about today's video and leave a great comment because one
