[Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] hi youtube welcome back to tractor talk with gary today i'm going to do a review on my kubota l2501 tractor i bought this brand new from gary's tractors and equipment in walk on iowa on december 17 2017 and the last time it was serviced it had 210 hours on it 8 8 of 20. i always write the hours and the date on the filter when i do the service on it and presently let's show how many hours we have on it 225.9 almost 226. i got it set up with the ag tires the r1s because i got this to do mowing down in the pasture and to drag a lot of tops up and stuff for cutting firewood i do a lot of off-camber stuff because it's really hilly down in the timber so i opted for the gear drive it's kind of joked with my dealer about it uh we priced what the hydrostatic was going to be and i decided for the difference in price i've been grinding gears for well over 40 years i can grind them some more not a big deal i also like that you get the four wheel drive instead of the hst on the fender and if you notice upon close looking at it look how far out beyond the fenders that the tire set the rear tires that's because number one we've added wheel spacers to it here number two we have placed the wheels at their furthest out position there are two positions here so the wheels are spaced on the hub and they're furthest out position they are fluid filled too it gives me a lot of a lot of weight a lot of stability and it does a really good job the weight's down low on it as long as you don't get too carried away with what you're doing on it you'll not have a problem in the hills i got the land pride qh 15 quick hitch i bought a used box blade for it it is the land pride bb 1560 and i've showed before uh it was pretty faded i repainted it i added the kubota stickers that's a land pride not a kubota piece of equipment had the auxiliary hydraulics added to it i haven't used them yet i still will probably use them uh and i thought you know it's better to have them on the only mistake that i made when ordering this and i was asked at the time did i want a third function i did not think i would ever need a grapple uh boy i have changed my mind about that i am going to add a grapple uh we're looking at one that's got the electric actuator on it instead of the hydraulics you save a lot of money i don't i need to do a little more thinking on that if that's what i'm gonna do added the golf cart mirrors i made the chainsaw amount if you saw my other video i added the little medallion for my favorite gun club the united states marine corps which i am a proud member i wanted to say former marine but you're not allowed to say that once a marine always a marine so yeah i i once was so i love the i love the ag tires they do give a little bit of a rough ride i do drive on the lawn i'm careful how i turn so i'll tear it up i'll drive on what's wet drive out when it's dry i knew that i wasn't going to be lifting a lot of rock with this and i've done quite a lot of loader work so um i wanted a little bit bigger bucket than the standard 60 inch which comes with it and my dealer traded me even up for a 72 inch bucket and the reason he did because when i bought it they were just swamped this had sat it was brand new it sat up in the rack and was paint faded and he simply said if you want to paint it i'll just swap out the buckets for you even up no money exchanged but he said i'll throw in a couple cans of paint whatever to make you happy so so i did and i added the ken's bolt-on hooks i love those um there are other hooks you can buy you can buy them off of amazon and not near the quality these are uh these are a little overkill but uh it's better to be too good than not good enough and i opted for the skid steer quick hitch uh quick attach attachment that's a good buy i would definitely recommend that so i've got a 72 inch bucket i've got the ken's bolt on hooks i've got the skid steer quick attach one thing i am going to do um if you saw my video about pheasant lane farm uh he has a friend called zuke's welding and he makes these for this i know there are other places that make i think paul and kathy short make them too i'm not sure i'd have to look on that um but i'm thinking about giving zuke's welding a little bit of business he's a good friend of of robert from pheasant lane farm and if you saw uh or if you watch robert's videos you've seen he's had some interesting things happen so if you haven't check that out there's a lot of good videos out here that do the reviews on the l2501s and there's not too many things to dislike about it it's an economy tractor you know that when you buy it like with the gear shift when it's in the down positions when it's in second or fourth gear it's in the way of your knee and uh the ignition switch if you're turning around to look at something you'll probably bump that with your knee and the the light switch on the other side um things like that uh one thing that is really great about it i don't see a lot of guys commenting on this i don't know if it's because they haven't run other equipment to know but these loader valves on these kubota tractors are awesome it's just unbelievable how smooth how fluid the movement is with them and how easy it is to get down in your corner positions and they they really do a super job i've got a western dwarf loader on my 2520 john deere which is a really good quality loader and although it operates pretty good there is definitely a difference between the two i added golf cart mirrors to it that's a good feature to have um i added the the led light bar up on the top i got that off of amazon that was pretty cheap and on the reviews they said they are prone to leaking and i this thing doesn't get out in the rain and it's always shedded it never sits outside never that's i've got the shed space there's no reason for it to sit outside and i've just never used it in the rain i have been out in the snow with the snow blowing around it's about the only thing and i had the dealer add the rear work light to it when i picked it up i added the strobes to the back a friend of mine wired that up for me and i get a lot of comments on the strobes and boy do they ever show up and i like to be seen i used to drive this from my other place before i move back up here on the farm it's about seven miles and there's a couple really sharp curves blind you can't see anything and i only cruise along at 10 miles an hour with a load of wood and i didn't want somebody come out behind me running into me give them plenty of warning so i run with the flashers on the lights on and the strobes on and really really makes me be seen i've got a five foot a 60 inch rotary cutter and this pulls it just good and that's one good thing about the gear drive when i pulled it with my 520 john deere of course that's more horsepower than what this is it's about 10 more horsepower but the john deere because of the twin cylinders pounding away it was prone to sheer pins i'd i'd share a couple in the morning and a couple in the afternoon every day probably pretty well minimum and with this if you run into something tough you dump the clutch it it stops sending power immediately kills the power to the pto and when you let the clutch back out the pto will engage so you want to if you're operating like that you want to back up and not be in the tough stuff when you start it up or you will share a pin and uh it's fairly easy to service i will do a video when i do my next service on it and if you follow your manual which you should be when you buy one of these that's first thing my dealer told me sit down and read your manual i did twice all the way through it and i still go back through it periodically and read things i don't pretend that i know everything about tractors even though i've been around them all my life i'm still learning stuff and if you ever get to the point where you're not willing to learn [Music] [Applause] [Music] you
