amen praise the Lord if you would like to Thank You team we're going to continue our study of the book of Revelation the revelation of Jesus Christ we are at chapter 6 so let's go straight there to chapter 6 and we'll start reading at verse 1 I'll just keep reading down until I find a place to stop till I think how much we'll get through tonight so Revelation chapter 6 we remember what's happened we've been in the throne room the seals are going to be opened the seals are a chronological sequence of things we have already read about in the Bible that are going to happen we'll look at that again tonight so let's look at what happens when Jesus opens the seals we looked at what the scroll was we looked at what the seals were so now we're going to see the opening of the seals we've already looked at the first one but let's just recapitulate and look through it once more okay I watched as the lamb opened the first of the seven seals then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder come I looked and there before me was a white horse it's rider held a bow and he was given a crown and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest when the lamb opened the second seal I heard the second living creature say come then another horse came out a fiery red one its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other to him was given a large sword when the lamb opened the third seal I heard the third living creature say come I looked and there before me was a black horse its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand then I heard what sounded like a voice from among the four living creatures saying a kilogram of wheat for a day's wages and three kilograms of barley for a day's wages and do not damage the oil and the wine when the lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say come I looked and there before me was a pale horse its rider was named death and Hades was following close behind him they were given power over a quarter of the earth to kill by sword famine and plague and by the wild beasts of the earth when he opened the fifth seal I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the Word of God and the testimony they had maintained they called out in a loud voice how long Sovereign Lord holy and true until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood then each of them was given a white robe and they were told to wait a little longer until the full number of their fellow servants their brothers and sisters were killed just as they had been I watched as he opened the sixth seal there was a great earthquake the Sun turned black like sackcloth and made of goat hair the whole moon turned blood red and the stars in the sky fell to earth as figs dropped from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind the heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up and every mountain and Island was removed from its place then the kings of the earth the princes the generals the rich the mighty and everyone else both slave and free hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains they called to the mountains and the rocks fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the lamb for the great day of their wrath has come and who can withstand it I will stop there where at the end of the chapter there anyway so ok so there's a lot of things said there we've seen in the opening of all six seals all six seals are open there's one more seal to open the seventh seal but then that goes into another set of of judgments from God so there's this an awful lot contained in those six seals but they seem to be opened after in rapid succession they seemed to be opened very so succinctly and we're given just a very brief understanding of what they are out and so we're going to look at them now we looked at the opening of the first seal last time and we remember what happened the rider on the white horse came and we looked at the prophecies of Daniel and how Daniel prophesied that this this had to happen then for everything else to follow you remember what Paul told the Thessalonians as well when they were saying are we in the end times as the the day of the Lord arrived and he says no because the man of sin the son of perdition has to come first he hasn't come yet it's only when that prince who will come arrives that everything else will follow so when Antichrist arrives then everything will follow in rapid succession so when Jesus has taken his church remember it said in Thessalonians that Antichrist couldn't come until the restrainer had been removed so we saw the rider on the white horse coming and we saw what he did what he represented what happened now when the rider on the white horse comes who we tend to call Antichrist when he comes there are certain things we need to understand about him if we go to Daniel 7 and verse 21 if we go to Daniel chapter 7 and verse 21 I just want us to see an important aspect about what this man will try and do okay so Daniel here is having a vision of the Antichrist his this is this horn that comes up horn is always a symbol of power in the Old Testament as I watched this horn was waging war against the holy people and defeating them until the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the holy people of the Most High and the time came when they possessed the kingdom he gave me this explanation the fourth beast is a fourth Kingdom that will appear on the earth it will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth trampling it down and crushing it the ten horns are ten Kings who will come from this Kingdom after them another King will arise different from the earlier ones he will subdue three kings he will speak against most high and oppresses holy people and tried to change the set times and laws it's important that we understand that phrase he will speak against the most high he will oppress his holy people the Jewish nation and he will try to change the appointed times some versions say the times and the laws the holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time times and half a time but the court will sit and his power will be taken away and completely destroyed for ever okay so when this Antichrist come he's gonna do all these things but did you get that phrase there when he comes we know he's going to oppress the holy people we know that he's going to bring this time of tribulation that's going to be times time in half a time three and a half years in our language we know that he's going to be destroyed in the end but what about that other phrase he will try to change the set times and laws he will try to change the appointed times because of language translation problems we tend to miss what's what that actually means the Hebrew word there is the word more heed the appointed times that's literally what the word moet means r-mo Adam in plural now so what well the more eggs in the Bible are the set feast days of Israel yeah there are seven feasts in the Levitical law that God said his his people had to attend now unfortunately went because we use the word feast what do you think of when you say feast food yeah it's not about food although there is food involved in some of the feasts and it's really from the Old English phrase I mean my mom and dad used to use this phrase when I was growing up it's a feast day but it really means an appointed set festival it's literally an appointed time it's something set that can't be changed let me give you an example out this word is used you remember in Genesis where God says he appoints signs in the sky Sun Moon and stars to give you the more adds the set appointed seasons your Bible will probably translate it but the word is no add it is a time a set procedure a preordained pre-designated set appointment now what's interesting is God says these are his set times sometimes we think oh that's the Jewish nation they have their own set feasts and set festivals god never said that god says these are my appointed times now if we don't know what the appointed times are we saw are not going to be bothered if Antichrist is gonna change the appointed times that way if he suddenly says right Easter this year is gonna be on a different day none of us care do we because it always changes anyway I mean even if he said you know Bank Holiday Monday this next year's gonna be on a Tuesday I'd be happy because my day off his Monday so that means I get an extra day off but this isn't what it means the best way to try and understand what it means is to look at can we go to Leviticus 23 and verse 1 Leviticus 23 and verse 1 what I want us to see is the appointed times because God is going to go through a pre-designed procedure that he has told us in advance he is going to follow he's going to follow whether we follow it or not is up to us but God is going to make sure these appointed times are fulfilled he's prophesied this all the way through the Bible the Lord said to Moses speak to the Israelites and say to them these are my appointed festivals more Adeem more Ed's the set unchangeable time the appointed festivals of the Lord which you are to proclaim you're supposed to tell everyone about this so that there will be ready for the sacred assemblies for the holy convocation some Bible calls it for a gathering together so that we meet with God at these set times and then he goes through the lists of the feasts the seven major feasts on the Hebrew calendar okay have we got that God is going to take us through a pattern of seven appointed times each one of these appointed times God is going to turn or Pat at the appointment what you need to understand is when you read the whole of chapter 23 which we're not going to do when you read the whole of chapter 23 anyone who did not go to one of these a point at times was cast out of the people of Israel they were not allowed to be God's people now that's a little bit severe isn't it unless it means something we don't understand what it means you know if someone doesn't turn up on Easter Sunday morning I don't throw them out of the church if someone doesn't turn up on Christmas morning I don't throw them out of the church now I might think they ought to come on these days but I don't say right that's it you're not going to heaven God says anyone who does not turn up at these modes at the appointed times cut them off they don't belong to me that's because God knows what this actually means whereas we just relegated to some legalistic festival or legalistic code that isn't what it means the seven feasts of Israel are specific more Ed's that God is going to turn up at and do what he said was going to happen on that feast did we get that you see because we've changed the calendar system because we've got rid of the biblical calendar because we've adopted the Gregorian calendar which was adopted from the Julius calendar which Julius Caesar made up which was from Rouen which is a babylon system I mean we know they sold we know this anyway don't we I mean September means seven and October means eight but September's the ninth month on October the 10th month and December's the 12th month but deca means ten so we all know our calendars totally messed up it doesn't make any sense because we follow a Babylonian system a row I mean we don't follow the biblical system at all the biblical system starts at one of these mo Adam one of these appointed days and then finishes with a mo Adam one of the appointed days and you may have heard you say our liturgy is our calendar the Jews nor through following their calendar what God is going to do next that's how the Jewish mind understands what the Bible means now we should understand that also not follow a legalistic system but if we don't know what any of these things means how can we know what Antichrist trying to do how can we know what their point at times mean if we don't know what the festivals the Feast the modes are how do we know what God's going to do next we don't know where he is on the calendar so I want us to just look at some of these more edge some of these appointed times that God said we're supposed to proclaim you're supposed to make sure you were you know about it and you have spoken about it okay even if you don't follow these feasts you should know what they mean so let's look at these fees can we put up the chart please Luke the first chart just the first line okay so I'm just going to go through the seven feasts and hopefully when we look at them like this you'll start to see a very clear pattern and you'll start to see what God has been doing throughout history and you'll start to understand what's gonna happen next because God is following his pattern he's following his calendar what did he say these are my appointed times by the way that that way up that word a point at time that word more erred it's the word you would use for a wedding yeah the holy convocation can literally mean a dress rehearsal okay someone came to me this morning about their wedding next year and this says when is the rehearsal they understood that you can't just turn up at the wedding you've got to have gone through a rehearsal so you know what's going to happen before the wedding well the feasts our rehearsals so that you know what's going to happen when God turns up at these appointed times so that you are ready to play your part when God turns up to do what he wants to do okay so Leviticus 23 the whole chapter lists them but we haven't got time to read that so we're just going to look at the timing some of the meanings and did God fulfill them did God turn up at the appointed time because I'll tell you now God is not going to miss his preordained divine appointments you might miss them but he won't he's going to turn him for his wedding his bride might not but he will actually his bride will but whether you're a part of the bride depends on what your choice is so let's look at the first line the first feast don't knows what the first feast is you remember Moses was told this is the beginning of your year your year starts here your life starts when you're delivered from Egypt when God saves you at the Passover he brings them out of Egypt he puts the blood on the doorposts they eat the Passover lamb we remember it when we take communion our salvation in Hebrew it's the word P Shack B sack it's the Passover it's where God spared you and didn't kill you it's where God saved you it's where God came and redeemed you when does that happen that's the first thing God does that's the first appointed time until you've met God at that one until you've been saved by the blood of the Lamb until you've confessed your faith in Jesus Christ you're still in Egypt you've got to turn up at that feast did Jesus turn up at Passover did he give the blood yes behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world the whole Bible testifies that Jesus was the Passover lamb that's why I'm Passover he was there that's why everybody should have known the exact time do you know the day Jesus entered Jerusalem it was the same day that all the Passover lambs were entering from Bethlehem to be slaughtered so everybody in Jerusalem knew because they had to happen the week before because they had to all be inspected and cleaned so when Jesus walked into Jerusalem every Jew knew that was the day the lamb came into Jerusalem they had no excuse they knew the Passover lamb had arrived they knew it was the beginning of their year the blood was shed by the way according to Josephus Josephus Flavius the writings he said that Passover there were two and a half million Jews in the Old City of Jerusalem to celebrate Passover now those of you who have been with us on our trips to the Old City of Jerusalem you just think about that that's bigger than the population of our entire county crammed into a tiny little space why do you think the Jewish authorities said don't take Jesus at Passover because if there's a riot we aren't going to be able to control it there's going to be millions of Jews fighting to save him don't take him at Passover why did they take him at Passover them because they didn't take him he gave himself Jesus made them kill him and Passover Jesus went out to the remember the guards came he says Here I am take me let these go they had they were forced to take him all he had to do was deny a few things that his trial and they would have legally had to let him go but he said nothing he made sure he was gonna make that appointment his blood was gonna be shed he was gonna be the lamb he is our Passover lamb if you go to first Corinthians five verse seven first Corinthians chapter five and verse seven get rid of the old yeast so that you may be a new unleavened batch as you really are for Christ our Passover lamb has been sacrificed therefore let us keep the more heed the appointed time the festival not with the old bread that was unleavened with malice and wickedness but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth so let's go back to the the the chart then let's go back so Passover happens at the beginning of what or the feast he saw I put it up the feast of unleavened bread can you see you see what did Jesus do Jesus wasn't just a Passover lamb he didn't just keep Passover the feast of unleavened bread happened for a whole week one week remember that how important that this understanding is seven days and as the name implies during that week everyone had to keep that the shag hat mats are that the feast of unleavened bread now what the Jews had to do is at the beginning of that week the father's the the father would take everyone the children into the father's house and they would spring clean the house and they would take out all the leaven of the bread you know any any yeast any fungus any mold any salt anything that could cause the bread to have leaven in it because during this feast they had to have the bread that had no leaven in it seven days what happened seven days before Jesus was crucified he came into the father's house and he cleaned it all out get these out of here how dare you turn my father's house into a marketplace what was he doing it was cleaning his father's house so that the the feast the more IDI unleavened bread could be kept did jesus fulfill it yes we've already just read that he has kept the more ed the Feast of the unleavened bread that the matzah bread so Jesus has already kept that machs of red if you've ever seen mats of bread unleavened bread I don't know if you've ever seen it we had a Passover ceremony done here a few years ago what did they do with the Passover bread they Pierce it and they score it what happened to Jesus he was pierced and he was whipped he is a symbol of the Passover bread what did he do on that feast he took the bread and said eat this this is my body so did Jesus meet the feast of unleavened bread yes did he turn up yes did everybody else turn up well some dead some turned up but didn't know what was going on it's a little bit like Church you know some people turned up and says this is interesting what's all this about but those who knew knew what was happening yeah so Jesus kept the feast of unleavened bread stop there does anyone know what comes next who said that well done it is it is the feast of firstfruits come into the next one then now firstfruits actually takes place these these three feasts are really all at the same time what happens is the Sabbath the seventh after the feast of unleavened bread the morning after the next Sabbath is the feast of firstfruits and so what happens on the feast of firstfruits is the first new harvest usually barley harvest at that time that the first new harvest the new life is brought into the temple and prease waves it before God in recognition that now a new harvester started a new life has begun did Jesus keep the feast of firstfruits well he is the thing he was crucified three days before so the only way he could keep it would be to rise from the dead did he keep them I mean that's a pretty good appointment to keep isn't it he's dead and he still makes the appointment he's still gonna be there he still rises he still says Here I am now 1 Corinthians 15 verse 12 can we put that up please 1 Corinthians 15 and verse 12 but if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the Dead if there is no resurrection of the dead then not even Christ has been raised and if Christ has not been raised our preaching is useless and so is your faith go down more than that we are found to be false witnesses about God for we have testified that God has raised Christ from the dead but he but he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised for the dead for if the dead are not raised then Christ has not been raised either and if Christ has not been raised your faith is futile you are still in your sins we're actually not getting to the bit I want it I think we've missed out just go down again there we go verse 20 but Christ has indeed been raised from the dead the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep so Christ kept the more edie he kept the appointed time by raising from the grave and by giving himself to the Father as the firstfruits the firstfruits of our eternal life because that's what the firstfruits are is the first recognition that there is new life when did he do it the day after the Sabbath on exactly the right day three days later ok so he came the feast of firstfruits so go back to the chat please don't bring the next one down so those three feasts all have more or less in the same week we all okay so far what comes next yes it is Pentecost but Pentecost is a Greek word the Jews don't call it Pentecost it they call it shadow up shavo opt does anyone know what it means it does mean harvest but it literally means weeks okay now there's different names for these feasts like we have different names for our different festivals but Pentecost do they know why it's called Pentecost because Pentecost means 50 days they don't know why it's called 50 days it's not a trick question yes actually it's 14 that you count 49 days do you know why you count 49 days it's up there isn't it because it's seven times seven after that these patterns saw a ringing a bell to you of what we've been looking at over the past few weeks looking at the seven fold pattern of the church age how the prophecies of Daniel was seven times seven there is a pattern developing that Jesus is keeping for his appointed times can you see that a full week then after the fact of the week firstfruits but then there's going to be a Sevenfold pattern of sevens and then what happens then harvest time begins this is more the wheat harvest this is actually now in summer it starts in the spring the first three really are the or what you call the spring festivals that the spring feast and then this Pentecost weeks shovel up the harvest what happened on the day of Pentecost Acts chapter 2 and verse 1 Jesus keep his promise stay in Jerusalem until I send you the promise of the Father why cuz that's when the harvests gonna begin that's when people are gonna start being brought into the kingdom if ternal life when the day of pentecost fully came it says in the King James they were all together in one place why because they knew they had to be there at the appointed time do you see that what if they'd not turned up well they didn't get the Holy Spirit because he only came upon the church that was there it didn't come upon anybody out in the fields or outer / mountain or down in the river he only came upon those who were in the right place that the more heed the appointed time God's going to turn up at his appointed time are we so the the sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven filled the whole house where they were sitting the tongues of fire came down all of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit enabled them everything jesus promised happened he fulfilled all the festivals he was the Passover lamb he was the unleavened bread he was the firstfruits weeks when it came shadow art the Holy Spirit came people now were harvesting eternal life people were now saved sealed delivered God was doing everything that he had promised okay let's go back to the chart what's the next feast did Jesus keep the Feast of Trumpets no he didn't no it didn't happen because he hasn't happened yet the trumpet hasn't been sounded can you see what does Antichrist want to do he wants to change the modes he wants to stop the appointed times he wants to stop the times and the seasons different Bible translations say a different way but the Hebrew if you read the Hebrew it's the mo ed it's the time that God has appointed that he's coming to meet with you and you better be there when does it happen after the Sevenfold period in the seventh month remember we saw the seventh full period of the church what's going to happen at the last trumpet according to 1 Corinthians 15 and 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 what's going to happen we're going to be caught up to be with the Lord in the air at the last trumpet this this has to be the trumpet that the Bible's talking about because this was the only trumpet that made sense plus all the other when you think it's Paul that talks about all of these things you see a Jew understood the chronology of the modes we don't that they're just following things to us but to a Jew they had to be at these things so their life revolved around them they couldn't forget what was gonna happen next they couldn't forget a divine appointment any more than you could forget the day of your wedding you couldn't do it so what's going to happen at the end of the Sevenfold period at the end of the seven months the trumpet will sound the dead in Christ will raise we who are alive in Christ will be caught up to meet him in the air is Jesus going to keep that appointment are you sure well he kept all the others now were they all kept in chronological order yes they're not going to happen out of order can you see that the Passover lamb had to duck out to die first okay he had to be buried then for the feast the seventh full period to happen then he had to be raised our firstfruits couldn't happen then Pentecost had to come they had to happen in that order or they couldn't make sense so the next appointment on God's more ed is the trumpet do you know the the Hebrews have a saying on the day of trumpets do you know the Feast of Trumpets now Jews today call it Rosh Hashanah but actually that's not the biblical name for it they change the calendar a bit and they call it the new year but it wasn't that in the religious calendar the Jews have a religious owner and an illegal secular calendar which confuses things even more it's actually called yom teruah the day of the blowing of the trumpets that's literally what it's called there if you read it in Leviticus chapter 23 this feast was also known as the marriage support the marriage of Messiah by the way did you know that that's what the Jews call it one of the names for the the Feast of Trumpets the marriage of Messiah so sometimes called Rosh Hashanah it's actually yom teruah the day of the blowing of the trumpets it's the picture that God gives us in the Bible of the rapture that he's going to happen okay so that's the next moet on God's calendar just to keep him focused what's happening okay don't put it up does anyone know what comes next it's Yom Kippur okay before this your match Allah Yom Kippur your means to raw yom means day yom teruah the day of the blowing of trumpets yom kippur the day of the atonement now does anyone know how long there is between trumpets and atonement it's 10 days the Jews call these the 10 days of all or the 10 awesome days because once the trumpet has been blown by the way do you know when they blow the trumpet you know when they blow the last the last trumpet or anyone know when they blow it they blow them all day but does anyone know when they blow the last one it's a trick question no one knows when they blow it and the Jews say no one knows the day or the hour of the blowing of the last trumpet that sound familiar because what happens is it's blown at night but it's blown when they spot the first sliver of a new moon if the only it's it's it's a night time thing remember Jesus said when did Jesus say would come to rapture us like a thief in the night at the blowing of the last trumpet now because no one knows the day or the hour that's because I mean we can work it out now by looking at NASA's you know website and we can work out exactly when each new moon happens but in Jerusalem it was when they could see it from Jerusalem and they didn't actually know exactly which day that would happen it could be one day it could be the next day they knew the season they knew the timing but they couldn't work out the exact day went to blow the trumpet once the trumpets have been blown there's then a period called the Days of Awe the awesome days where the Jews have to prepare for the most solemn day of repentance in the Jewish calendar the single most awesome day in the Jewish calendar Yom Kippur Yom Kippur the Day of Atonement it is the only day that God has declared that anyone who belongs to him has to fast they have to fast you have to go without food for that day you have to repent and you have to get yourself ready you have to get all your sins removed you have to get yourself ready now remember this is repentance for Israel the day of atonement because when the trumpets are sounded and when Jesus has kept that appointment a lot of people are suddenly gonna realize what's happened and they have now got a period of time to get right before everything kicks in and they have to get right and repent and be ready before God now was this fulfilled anywhere in the New Testament no because no one knows when it's going to happen so that's why it's not mentioned Jesus hasn't fulfilled that yet he's fulfilled it in heaven is atone for our sins in heaven before a father now this feast is only one day and if you know your Old Testament over and over again the day of the Lord is always spoken of us as a day this is the awesome day this is the day of repentance this is the day that you have to get right finally before God you've missed the trumpets because you've not kept all the other previous feasts if you've not yet all kept all the other modes you're not you'll not keep trumpets you won't know what's going on you won't believe it anyway so can we see what's happening here is Jesus going to keep these appointments yes Zechariah 12 verse 10 Zechariah 12 verse 10 Old Testament I mean there's lots of stuff about the day of atonement in the Old Testament that word that phrase the day of the Lord is mentioned over 200 times in the Old Testament if we can go to Zechariah la Carrera 12 verse 10 Zechariah prophesied the coming of Messiah as king but before he comes Israel has to get right with God and I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication they will look on me the one they have pierced and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for the firstborn son in that day the weeping of Jerusalem this is the day this is what atonement Day of Atonement Yom Kippur represents on that day the weeping of Jerusalem will be as great as the weeping of head a dream on in the plain of megiddo where the final battle will happen just go down again the land will mourn each clan by itself with their wives by themselves the clan of the house of David and their wives the clan of the house of Nathan and their wives the clans of the house of Levi that's the priests the prophets and the kings Nathan the Prophet David the King Levi right there the priests the clown of the house of Levi and their wives the clan of shimmy and their wives and all the rest of the clans and their wives one more verse on that day the fountain will be opened so Zechariah has prophesied that there is going to be a repentance in Israel when they recognize what they've done always remember the Bible is very clear Israel's hardening is only in part till the full number of the Gentiles has come in when God has brought the Gentiles in and taken his bride to heaven Israel is going to have the veil removed they're gonna realize we've rejected our Messiah and he's not coming back for them till they repent Jesus said that very clearly you will not see me again until you say blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord which is Sam 118 which is the sound they sang at his crucifixion that's the sound they sung at Passover until you know what happened at Passover you can't have Jesus so Jesus is gonna come and fulfill that when israil repents but they're going to go through hell on earth before that final stage because Antichrist is going to try and annihilate them all but they will repent and they will cry out for Messiah and he will come so there's one more feast watch the final feast let's go back to the chat so after the trumpets after Yom Kippur what's the final seven the final feast let's put it up Tabernacles what is Tabernacles it's the Hebrew word sakata tents or booths or temporary dwellings but what does it mean what happens on Tabernacles is all the people of God have to have to go and leave where they are and go and live in another dwelling because God came and lived in a tabernacle it's a picture of God finally coming back to live with his people it's the second coming it's the return of Jesus he will restore the tent of David he will restore the tabernacle the Sukkot it's the find of the final week remember the final week at the end the King returns the King returns to save Israel with his bride with his people can we see that did Jesus keep Tabernacles now this is a strange one because he saw of did look at term john chapter 7 verse 2 now when the Jewish festival of Tabernacles Sukkot was near Jesus brother said to him leave Galilee and go to Judea so that your disciples there may see the works you do no one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret since you are doing these things show yourself to the world go to Tabernacles and everyone will know you're the Messiah because that is what will happen at Tabernacles everyone will know who God is for even his own brothers did not believe in him go to the next verse therefore Jesus told them my time is not yet here for your for you anytime will do I'm not gonna Tabernacles yet now hold on you've got to go to Tabernacles that's no I'm not going yet you know my boy when Jesus came into the temple on the feast of Passover key remember what everyone did they wave palm branches and shouted Hosanna Hosanna that's what you do at Tabernacles at Tabernacles you wave palm branches in the air and say Hosanna which means God now save us save as Oh Lord they thought at Passover it was Tabernacles no Tabernacles is the Second Coming not the first coming the first time he came he came to be the Passover lamb it's the final feast that his Tabernacles that's when you wave the palm branches my time is not yet here for you any time will do the world cannot hear you but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil you go to the festival I am NOT going up to this festival because my time has not yet come they had no idea what he was talking about what do you mean you're not going to Tabernacles oh he is going to Tabernacles just not yet now he did actually go after this he said it so he was telling a bit of a fib you know even imagine Jesus telling lies do you he wasn't telling lies he was he was trying to show them the difference between just a feast and the more heed the appointed time that's why saying my appointed time has not yet come I'll come to the festival with you but I'm not celebrating Tabernacles yet that's when I come at the end in the final more IDI at the final appointed time that's when I'm coming to live with you as king and Messiah that's when I'm going to come and reign over the earth by the way Tabernacles is a festival that Gentiles can join in with so the Gentiles have to come back with him this is why the trumpets is different than the Tabernacles trumpets is when people are taken to him Tabernacles is when he comes back with his people including the Gentiles so can we see this in fact zachariahs prophecy you know where they were mom for the one they pierced you will you'll actually read in Zechariah 14 and verse 16 can we put that up Zechariah 14 and verse 16 the survivors from all the nations so this is after the Tribulation Period that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King the Lord Almighty and to celebrate the festival of Tabernacles at the end of the period at the end of this war at the end of all this destruction actually Zechariah mentions this feast three times here in this chapter that's when we will finally Tabernacle with God when he returns to keep the moet okay so you can see the pattern just put the chart up again please Luke can you see the pattern of the feasts this is what Antichrist is going to try and change he's going to try and stop the fulfillment of the appointed times I don't know why cuz he can't but he's still going to try one of the first ways he tries is by messing up the calendar so we don't know what day it is I mean that's one of the first things he does I mean none of us have got a clue what our calendar how this relates to this but this is God says this is his calendar you see the Jewish calendar works on solar and lunar cycles our calendar just works on a solar cycle so all our dates are set but the Jewish dates move about and we don't like that because we're Greek minded people we like everything to be logical in order we don't like things to be in a system that we can't control there's also two of the Facebook I'm not going to look at those they were added later that was a Hanukkah and porn him and they really represent things that will happen after in the millennium Esther you know being given the kingdom pour him and hanukkah the rededication of things for God to use that's what comes after but but they weren't the mo ads in this sense so can we see can you see the pattern that God is gonna follow can you see the sevens that he's going to go through to fulfill that right first pattern seven days then seven times seven weeks then the seventh month then the day of the Lord then that final process can you see that helps us to understand what God is doing where he is going okay then so now we've got that understanding it helps us understand what Antichrist is going to try and do but the people who know their God the people who understand God's a point at times Antichrist nobody the Babylonian system the world's corruption can't rob you from the understanding of the pattern God is going to fulfill Jesus isn't going to miss any of these appointments let's make sure we're not going to miss any of them and we're going to be with him at every stage of the way by faith okay so let's go back to Revelation then revelation chapter 6 and verse 1 Revelation chapter 6 and verse 1 so the lamb opens the first of the seven seals I looked and there before me was a white horse it's rider held a bow one was given a crown and rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest first seal opened when the lamb opened the second seal I heard the second living creature say come and another horse came out a fiery red one it's rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other to him was given a large sword then we've read through so I'll not read through again basically these are termed the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse there are four horses released yeah there's another one at the end but that's Jesus there are four horses released a white one a red one a black one and a you see that's what happens you see when we read the English version of the Bible because the actual Greek word there for pale is cloris which which is green the reason we say pale is because it's the same way we'll get Clark chloroform from or what you know it's the reason we say pale is because when someone goes green see second that they go pale it so it tended to men if someone starts going pale green there it's that you know and that's what it is it's plague and death that's coming so it's like it has two meanings it means you've gone pale but it literally means a green a pale green color okay so these are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse white red black green okay and these are the four horses that the four living creatures release to start God's judgments on the earth so there are four horses why are they on horses remember what we've been saying all along the book of Revelation is the conclusion of what was previously being said in the Old Testament horses in the Old Testament are always a very powerful picture of what God is doing go to Zachariah verse chapter one and verse eight please Luke Zachariah chapter one and verse eight what Johnny seeing is a fulfillment of all the previous visions in the Old Testament and it's drawing together and concluding what God always prophesied so this is Zachariah again Zachariah is a very apocalyptic book as we've already read he sees lots of things about the end times Jesus first coming and his second coming during the night I had a vision and there before me was a man mounted on a red horse he was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine but behind him were red brown and white horses so you've got four types of horses there yeah have you noticed one of the colors is different I asked what are these my lord the angel who was talking with me answered I will show you what they are then the man standing among the myrtle trees explained these are the ones the Lord has sent to go throughout the earth go to the next verse let's just go down and they report it to the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees we have gone through the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace then the angel of the law said Lord Almighty how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and from the towns of Judea which you have been angry with these seventy years so the Lord spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with me let me just read down so we get the whole flavor of this then the angel who was speaking to me said proclaim this word this is what the Lord Almighty says I am very jealous for Jerusalem in Zion and I am very angry with the nations that feel secure I was only a little angry but they went too far with the punishment go on therefore this is what the Lord says I will return to Jerusalem with mercy and there my house will be rebuilt and the measuring line which will be stretched out over Jerusalem declares the lord almighty proclaim further this is what the Lord Almighty says my towns will again overflow with prosperity and the Lord will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem then I looked up and there before me were four horns okay what is that guy talking about here what's happened the 70 years of captivity is over we've just read that what had happened Jerusalem had been destroyed the Jews had been sent into captivity Israel no longer existed there was no one left it was just the desolation and a waste yeah and then Zechariah has a vision and he sees the her four horses but the four horses have finished their work everything is now at peace and rest God says he decreed this punishment but they took it too far they destroyed more than they should have they killed more people than they should have but now the horses were not weren't riding anymore they were at rest because the seventy seventy years had been completed remember what we looked at Jeremiah had said 70 years of captivity but Daniel said there's going to be another seventy can you remember the prophecies so what's going to happen in the final week those horses are going to be released again what did they do they brought devastation on the earth the king of Babylon came destroyed everything before and tried to annihilate the Jewish nation destroyed Jerusalem wiped Israel off the map that's what's gonna happen when the horses are released again now at the moment they're not released because a horse is always a symbol of God's judgement in the Bible it's always a sign of a conqueror coming even Jesus rides a horse at the end because he's coming to take back that which he says so these horses are going to be released again you notice there he says then I looked up and saw the four horns if you just go down to the next verse I asked the angel speak to me what are these he answered these are the four horns that scattered Judah Israel and Jerusalem then the Lord showed me four craftsmen these four things are all the same thing it's the fourfold principle of God's judgment on creation that's what four represents creation we looked at that last time so I'll not go into it the four horsemen are God's judgment on man's creation not God's creation is what man has walked it to be and so this is why there are horses this is why there are four of them this is why the pattern had to be completed before the horses were at rest and this is why at the end of the seventy at the end of the final time period in the final week that we looked at last time that's why the four horses have to be released again the four horses of Babylon that the force horses of Satan's Kingdom led this time by Satan's ultimate man the Anti Christ the rider on the Warhawk white horse he's going to bring death destruction famine plague pestilence war and it is coming so Zechariah prophesied that this was going to happen he's actually talking about the ending here but then his rest of his prophecies say it's going to happen again and in Revelation God is describing what is going to happen again you'll often find this four fold repetition occurs a few times Joel described it as a four fold inversion of four types of locust and the locusts come in Revelation also as a picture of the demons that are released in that final period God even releases the four angels bounded the Euphrates it's the picture of the four full judgment that is coming on the earth so these judgments are coming if we go to Jumeirah Jeremiah 27 and verse 8 Jeremiah chapter 27 and verse 8 he is what Jeremiah prophesied a same thing about the king of Babylon remember the endtime period is the rise of the king of Babylon if however any nation or Kingdom will not serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon or bow its neck to his yoke I will punish that nation sword famine plague the same three horses after the rider in the white horse can you see that the rider in the White Horse brings three other horses sword famine plague that's what he's bringing there's Antichrist and then those three things following him so Jeremiah already prophesied this 600 BC what was gonna happen John told us it again so this is what the four horsemen represent ones Antichrist the other ones the war the other ones a famine that follows the war the other ones are playing and pestilence that wipes out 1/4 of all mankind sounds a pretty horrific war doesn't it but the plague and the pestilence that follows it and the famine that comes because world crops are wiped out and there's no food that's actually what causes more deaths than the war does or that's what appears to happen so can we see this and Jeremiah always prophesizing in terms of the horses are coming I hear the sound of the horses hooves and at one point Jeremiah gets really depressed and moans to the Lord and the Lord says to him if you can't cope with men how are you gonna cope when the horses come you need sometimes we're just like Jeremiah we warp all our problems and complain about all the bad things that are happening the horses haven't been released yet that will make any problem we have seen as nothing so these four horsemen are going to be released so in Jeremiah 30 verse 6 Jeremiah continues these prophesies a lot of Jeremiah prophesying this period so in Jeremiah 30 and verse 6 Jeremiah is seeing the same time period and the distress of it the the pain the anguish the the horrendous nature of this endtime period he tries to describe it he says I can see every man can every man bear children and why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor every face turned deathly pale how awful that day will be no other will be like it it will be a time of trouble for Jacob but he will be saved out of it Israel will be saved the remnant of Israel will be saved so this phrase there the King James calls it the time of Jacob's trouble it's called the time of the birth pains the time of labor the time of the contractions for the final phase bringing being brought forth this time of Jacob's trouble is a very powerful phrase amongst Jewish people it's an understanding of the the 7-year period Jacob went through to obtain his bride it refers to that he had to labor hard toil before he could obtain his bride so it's like an idiom it's like a parable of this final seven-year process but it's described as as birth pains it's described throughout the Bible as contractions this is when this happens this is the beginning of birth pains does that sound familiar does anyone know who else said that Jesus said the exact same phrase when he was describing this final stage now this is not in Revelation if we go to Matthew chapter 24 and verse 8 I while still with me all these are the beginning of the birth pains the contractions it's not the end it's the beginning of the end Carolyn my wife has had four children so we're pretty good at recognizing what contractions are you know when you have the first one you're not so sure are you it's like mmm are we close and we not close you know you know it's how do you measure the pain how do you measure the contractions Jesus Jesus says that the way of understanding this endtime it's like birth pains now if you've ever had birth pains or you've ever had contractions they don't go away do they they get worse and they get more contracted and they get closer together and they get more painful till they reach a pain threshold that is almost like a man having flu [Music] so this is how he is it knock knock man flu birth pens this is what it's going to be like now verse 8 here we saw a skip can you just go back to the verse one of the same chapter right now we've not even looked to any of this during our time of study in the book of Revelation because as we've said Revelation is the conclusion of everything else said so you only understand Revelation by reading the rest of the Bible when Jesus left the temple he was walking away with his disciples Jesus is going they came up to him to call his attention to its bills do you see all these things he asked truly I tell you not one stone he'll be left on another everyone will be thrown down Jerusalem will be destroyed that was an amazing thing to say when they thought he was coming to make everything better and he turns round to them and say look at everything it's all going there isn't going to be any of this left as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately tellers they said when will this happen what will be the sign of your coming and and of the end of the age okay go now jesus answered watch out that no one deceives you now let's just stop there now here is where I can make this as complicated as you want or as simple as you want which would you rather have you would rather have the simple okay everything's going to be alright in the end if you believe in Jesus Amen go home what we haven't looked at in our study of Revelation is what is said in the Gospels of what theologians call the Olivet discourse okay the whole of Matthew chapter 24 and the whole of Matthew chapter 25 and the whole of Luke chapter 21 and and Mark chapter thirteen four whole chapters describe Jesus saying the pattern of the end times now would you say that's pretty important if Jesus has given us this information we can't read four chapters together tonight we'd be here ages you have to read that in your own time also if the single longest sermon narrative that Jesus ever gave was this sermon would you consider that's pretty important why is it then some churches never even teach it if it's the single longest recorded sermon that we have of Jesus you would consider that's pretty important might be the most important if Jesus talked about this two entire chapters without break just about any times he doesn't talk about anything else it's called the Olivet discourse Matthew 24 and 25 Luke records it in chapter 21 Macra cords it in chapter 13 of his gospel now we can't look at all this this attack as long to study this as it would be to study the book of Revelation but what I want us to see is something that will help us understand a lot of people have difficulty reading what Jesus says here and then fitting into what revelation says cuz they appear to say a different things but they don't they just use different terminology if you try and put it together try and put it together you'll see actually matches up so you can make sense of it but you have to study it and read it because there's a lot of information here you have to try and fit in to what's actually happening I once I used to do a lot of jigsaws with my dad and I remember once someone put two jigsaw puzzles in the same box now that didn't mean we couldn't put the jigsaw together it meant we had an awful lot of work deciding which piece of the jigsaw I went with that and which bit of the jigsaw I went with that and it took a hundred times longer than it should have because you were looking at a piece and thinking well I know that's a piece of the jigsaw but I don't know if it goes there or there and if I put it then it's wrong that jigsaw is not gonna work and so the Olivet discourse Jesus is describing what's going to happen throughout this endtime period cause the disciples have asked him when's this gonna happen what's going to be the signs and what's the signs of the end of the age and so Jesus basically at the beginning of this discourse gives a pattern that you can follow now I've put this in another chart to help us understand this so if we can put up the next chart to please Luke there we go so what I'm going to try and do is try and show you how what Jesus said in the Olivet discourse and I'll just use Matthew 24 and Luke 21 will not use mark as well or it will get too complicated and try and look at what we've just read in Revelation in chapter 6 of Revelation and what Jesus said was going to happen is that okay okay let's look at the first one then what happened at the beginning at the beginning of that period according to the seal that was hoping that the first seal of the scroll was open what happened the white horse came who was the rider on the white horse the Antichrist so if we go back to what Jesus said was going to happen when they said what's the signs of the end if we go to matthew chapter 24 and verse 3 tell us they said when will this happen what will be the sign of your coming and what will be the end of the age what's the first sign watch out that no one deceives you many will come in my name claiming I am the Messiah the rider on the white horse the first sign can you see that so instead of getting confused about well what Jesus said what did they say what's the sign make sure you don't believe the one who comes and claims he's the Messiah he's warning the Jewish people very clearly the first thing that's going to happen is you're going to be deceived and think he's the answer to all your problems and he's not he's the false Christ the false messiah the rider on the white horse so contrary to getting confused Jesus is actually following exactly the same pattern of Revelation first scroll false Christ first sign false Christ Luke says the same thing but will not duplicate everything or we will get very confused so go back to the pattern then we go back to the chart Luke so there we go first scroll the first seal on the scroll the rider on the white horse what did Jesus say watch out for him will claims to be the Messiah the one thing that Jesus says most in this pattern of Matthew 24 and 25 he warns us about something more than he warns us about anything else do you know what that thing is it's not was it's not rumors of was one thing he says three times make sure this doesn't happen make sure you are not deceived now if Jesus says that three times that must mean a lot of people are going to become deceived I think a lot of the Christian Church is already deceived because they believe in all kinds of nonsense that is totally unbiblical but they think all God allows me to do it no no he doesn't you've just become deceived you just deceived you believe in the false Christ by the way false Christ's actually means it Christ means Anointed One it means many will come claiming that their Christ many will come claiming they have an anointing believe in my anointing no don't believe in anybody's anointing believe in the anointed one God anoints people but you believe in him not them now you trust them and honor them if God given them to you but only if they're pointing to Jesus okay so sign number one false Christ Jesus said the same thing so the Olivet discourse is following the same pattern what's the next thing that happens what's the next horse yeah Red Horse okay so the next pattern that happens in Revelation is red the Red Horse that is coming what was the next thing that Jesus said what happened go back to Matthew 24 and verse six what's the next sign then you'll hears of wars and rumors of wars but see to it that you are not alarmed such things must happen but the end is still to come there's still a seven-year process oh but the ends here comes the Messiah's here he's not the Messiah yeah but there's wars and rumors of wars that's going to happen before the end there's still seven years so the wars that are coming this Red Horse that releases the wars by the way there's going to be a huge war if you read Ezekiel chapter 38 39 the Battle of Gog and Magog it is going to be a massive war probably world war three is going to be huge and this is why the other horses follow and they have to be in this order because if we go back to the chart what was the next horse the black horse can we put up the chart the black horse what was the black horse famine the war is going to be so devastating there isn't going to be any food what did Jesus say if we go back to Matthew 24 verse 7 Luke says the similar things nation will rise against nation Kingdom against Kingdom this huge war then there will be famines next sign famines can you see Jesus is actually following exactly the same pattern as is outlined in Revelation they don't contradict one another some people try and say oh it doesn't make sense that's because they don't know how to read the Bible properly and they don't listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches it makes perfect sense you just have to be open long enough till it all filters through and you can start to understand it okay so famines start to happen okay God let's go to Luke's version of it look gives a slightly different version but it basically follows the same thing looks at it from a different angle Matthew's writing to Jews Luke is writing to Gentiles so one's giving signs before certain events one's giving signs after certain events so if we go to Luke chapter 21 and verse 11 Luke chapter 1 and verse 11 so after these famines and earthquakes and pestilences in various places and fearful events and great signs from heaven so watch the next sign the pestilence now there's earthquakes as well we'll come on to those pestilences plagues serious diseases that wipe out multitudes that's exactly what the book of Revelation says happens as the war as the famine then there's the pestilence the plagues the diseases that can't be cured that wipes out 1/4 of the planet according to what John saw there in the book of Revelation so that's then that's the final horse death and Hades Hades is the place of the dead its way where you put the dead so it's not just death there as hades gets filled with death okay so can you see first horse second horse third horse fourth horse The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse they're following the exact same pattern the Zachariah prophesied about that Jeremiah talked about that Jesus talked about in Matthew 24 Luke 21 and Mark 13 it follows the same pattern it's the same pattern of events they give slightly different versions and they mentioned some things overlapping like earthquakes there but that's going to get worse the birth pains by the way is the is the the convulsions of the earth itself because the Bible tells us that the earth is in pains of anguish until the children of God are liberated until the manifest sons of God are brought forth when Jesus brings everything to fulfillment so the earth itself is in convulsions groaning until all this stuff is finally sorted out okay let's go but let's go back to Matthew Matthew chapter 24 verse 9 right after the fourth rider on the white horse the the pale green horse the cloris horse then what happens can you remember what what what happens on the fifth seal when it's opened can anyone remember what we read at the beginning what happens next then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death and you will be hated by all nations because of me at that time many will turn away from the faith and betray and hate each other many false prophets will appear and deceive many because of the increase of wickedness the love of most will grow cold but he the one who stands firm to the end will be saved can we go back to the chart please Luke the opening of the fifth seal massive martyrdom Souls being slain mentioned there also in Luke verses 16 and 24 that's exactly what happens when the fifth seal is opened those who are martyred those who are killed those who are genetically ethnically cleansed genocide on a massive scale once tied Antichrist days control especially persecution of the Jewish people and believers generally that's what his aim is remember this is after trumpets this is why if at all we can we need to try and make sure that we can escape all these things can you remember what the sixth seal was yes not just earthquakes you put the next one down Luke there's basically and a change in the biosphere of the planet global cataclysms a massive change on such a scale that I don't think we can fully grasp it it seems to even affect the orbit of the earth if now if you think if there's a nuclear war which is what this big war could be if enough nuclear weapons go off it will actually change it changed the orbit of the earth so seasons won't work some people actually think that what happens here when you read that in Revelation what we read there at the end of chapter 6 some people's a lot of clever people and scientists are saying it seems to describe a polar shift where there's a flip of the magnetic direction of the earth because it says the mountains and the earth moves and then the earth sort of changes and the heavens recedes like a scroll and the earth and the stars fall from their places it seems to mean that like the earth itself falls off its axis in some capacity and everything just goes haywire well that's exactly what Jesus said would happen let's go to Luke's version of it Luke 21 verse 25 Luke 21 and verse 25 there will be signs in the Sun the moon and the stars on the earth nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring on the tossing of the sea everything seems to be out of joint the tides change everything everything seems wrong the Sun and Moon don't aren't in the right place everything seems upside down nothing's as it should have been people will faint from terror apprehensive of what is coming on the world for the heavenly bodies will be shaken this is before Jesus comes back because that's what he says happens next so if we go back to Revelation chapter 6 if we go to Revelation chapter 6 and verse 12 watched as he opened the sixth seal there was a great earthquake the Sun turned black like sackcloth well if there's just been a massive wall with massive explosions then the Sun is going to go black if there's that much radioactive dust scattered into the earth like sakkath made I've got there the whole moon turned blood red the stars in the sky fell to earth well that's what would happen if the if the the axis of the earth of the pole shifted all the stars would just flip over this figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by the strong when the heavens receded like a scroll rolled up every mountain and island was removed from its place everything moves the tectonic plates of the earth just flip round massive earthquakes massive devastation but it comes after the war so can you see the Olivet discourse actually does fit in in the same pattern as to what's happening in Revelation there are overlaps many of these things may happen simultaneously but it is following the same general pattern the Bible is always consistent if you study it properly it always makes sense and follows its own pattern can we go back to the chart Luke so what do we make of all this if we've looked at these six seals that have been opened well in the Olivet discourse bring on the last line Luke on the Olivet discourse Jesus also says something else let's look how he explains it in Luke Luke 21 verse 35 Luke 21 and verse 35 so if all this stuff's gonna happen and he's telling all the disciples this is going to happen Jesus doesn't tell lies for it will come on those who live on the face of the whole earth it won't come on those who live in heaven remember what I said at the beginning if you can remember in the book of Revelation always make a distinction between those who dwell on earth and those who are dwellers in heaven be always on the watch and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen and that you may be able to stand before the Son of man hold on a minute this is going to happen to everybody on the whole earth how can you escape it can you remember what we saw in Revelation chapter 3 and verse 10 can we go there look revelation 3 and verse 10 since you have kept my command to endure patiently I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole earth the whole world to test all the inhabitants of the earth we are told over again in Scripture there is an escape from all this Jesus is coming to rescue his people before this wrath of God is poured out on the earth the question isn't whether you're going to through it going to go through it or not the question is are you believing in Jesus and that he's going to rescue you the question is where is your faith now we told these things so that we will be prompted to have faith because this is going to happen the Bible talks about it more than any other event in the Bible in fact there's more prophecies about this than there is about Jesus coming in the first time so we need to be ready we need to be watching and praying so that we can escape everything that is going to come on the whole earth okay so the Olivet discourse in the chapters that we've looked at really have to read that in conjunction with the book of Revelation and it will help you understand if you read it long enough you'll see how it fits together if we can go to the next chart please Luke Matthew 24 describes Jesus given the narrative in detail about what's going to happen he's answering the questions of the disciples but in chapter 25 he then gives parables but the parables are a direct answer to the question that the Apostles have asked him they're not just parables for any reason can we just put up these parables look can we just put them all up please all four so Jesus in his parables is giving an illustration of what he's just said and he's following the same pattern so if you read these four parables they are setting out a pattern of what's going to happen in the end times that's why Jesus is doing it remember they've asked him what it be gonna sign what are the signs going to be what's gonna happen and what's the sign of the end of the age so Jesus gives the the narrative but then he gives three parables for if you include that first one which is sort of a parable and we're not gonna have time to look through them but I just want us to see once again the pattern that God is out working in the book of Revelation and what his pattern has always been through the Bible so I'm sure if your memory serves you correctly you'll remember that after the narrative is given about the end times in chapter 24 he then says the master is going to depart yeah let's just go Matthew 24 let's just go to verse go to verse 48 we can't read the whole section Matthew 24 in verse 48 he says the Masters going to depart he's going to tell people what they have to be getting on with and he's going to come back at a later date can we go there Luke so when the master goes away suppose the servant is wicked and says to himself my master is staying away a long time Jesus knew when he went away he was going to be gone a long time and he knew what people would do people would start to say oh he's not coming back I can do what I want I can behave how I want ok if you just read the rest of the and then he began to beat his fellow servants to eat and drink with drunkards the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him at an hour he is not aware of ok that is not the second coming because the second coming the return of Jesus is mentioned in the fourth parable this is talking about the secret taking away of the appearing when no one expects it how do we know that because he then backs that up by giving the second parable so go to the chart please Luke so he gives the first parable I'm gonna go away and I'm gonna come back at a time that you're not ready so make sure you're not living wickedly then he gives the second parable Matthew 25 he gives the parable of the wise and foolish virgins first parable I'm going away a long time second parable I'm going to come in the middle of the night at a time you are not aware and I am going to take you into the wedding banquet that's what the second parable is about it's a nighttime removal when is that going to happen we don't know any time how long has he been gone in the first parable 2000 years the Masters been gone a long time but it's only two days on God's time clock remember days as a thousand years so the parable of the wise and foolish virgins the ones who were ready when he came they were taken into the wedding banquet but the ones who weren't ready if you go to Matthew 25 and verse 10 you remember when he comes in the night to take them away but while they were on their way to by their eye all these of the foolish brother the bridegroom arrived the virgins who were ready went to be with him to the wedding banquet then the door was shut remember that's what John says at the end of chapter 3 in Revelation he's knocking at the door the doors open but it's going to be short later the others also came Lord Lord they said open the door to us but you reply truly I tell you I don't know you therefore keep watch because you do not know the day or the hour first parable he goes away is away a long time second parable is coming back at a time he doesn't specify those who are ready will be taken those who are not will be left behind go back to the chart please Luke so then what well then he gives a third parable now these are in chronological order he is given the parable so that we will understand the pattern that it is going to follow in the end times because that's what the question was that the Apostles asked him so he's given the answer here in parabolic form so then he gives the next parable where rewards are given out you know here are so many talents he was done so much work he gets so much reward he was five gets five times reward but there's one person who does nothing what reward does he get in the story he gets left out he well you're not coming then because she wove easly didn't believe anything I said you may have thought you were coming you may have thought I was coming to take you but you actually weren't obeying me so you're not coming you're staying on earth you're going to go through this tribulation you're going to go through this Antichrist period and wars and rumors of wars and famines and earthquakes and pestilence and disease or not you're going to go through it now it doesn't mean you won't be saved if you still have faith you might be saved through it but you won't you'll miss the escape you missed when he came so he was put outside now that has to happen before the final seven years the timing of that but then what happens after the seven years if we go to Matthew 25 and verse 31 this is the beginning of the final parable Matthew 25 verse 31 but when the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the angels with him he will sit on his glorious throne all the nations will be gathered before him and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from his girls the final parable the end of the age when Jesus returns with all his Holy Ones not the taking away in the night that happens at the beginning of the week this is the final process where he returns with all his angels on his throne every eye will see him every knee every knee will bow every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord this is not the snatching away this is the return totally different parable Jesus gave a totally different parable the taking away in the night was the Virgin's the return is when he comes with all his glory and all his angels they're different events linked but different events so put the chart back up please Luke so can we see in the Olivet discourse he's following the same pattern that we have followed through our study so far in the book of Revelation and he gives it in four parables I'm going away for a long time get on with what I've told you to do I'm gonna come at a time that you're not aware of those who are ready I will take those who are not ready I will leave behind I will give out rewards if no one's ever done anything they're not coming they're gonna get shipped outside with with with the people who weren't ready and then at the end of that period at the end of the age I'm gonna return with everything I have all my holy wants and then I'm gonna judge the earth everyone is going to be judged according to what they have done and according to how the nations have treated his people upon that we see that the nations will be judged according to how they have oppressed the Jewish people as well as other things so can we see that's the pattern that God is going to follow that's the Olivet discourse I know we've taken quite a lot of time looking at the Olivet discourse trying to fit it into the studies of Revelation but there's four whole chapters to look at we've just skimmed it and we've just looked at a brief outline of the Olivet discourse but it does fit in with the patterns that we've seen in Revelation there's a lot more information there but we haven't got time to look at that tonight okay then let's go back to the book of Revelation Revelation chapter 6 verse 3 when the lamb opened the second seal I heard the second living creature say come and another horse came out a fiery red one so what are the colors of the four horses white red black pale green to literally translate the Greek okay so we've got these four colors now I don't believe anything in the Bible is by accident I think if something's a color is a color for a reason now what's interesting is when you read the book of Revelation you will find that when antichrist comes we'll look at this later on but it's also detailed in the prophecies of daniel the antichrist basically controls ten kingdoms and you'll find this expression the ten heads and the ten horns and the ten different things daniel had the vision of the ten toes the final you know member in the in the in the statue that he saw you know Nebuchadnezzar's prophecy that the final age of the kingdoms of the earth this final kingdom would be ten toes yeah an antichrist you will read in the book of Revelation has ten kingdoms Daniel also describes in Daniel chapter seven ten horns that the Antichrist is linked to there's this thing called these ten kingdoms ten horns ten toes now we don't know exactly what these ten kingdoms are many people have guessed some of the early church fathers identified some of them but we are given a list of kingdoms in the Bible especially in Psalm 83 the nation that will attack Israel especially in Ezekiel's Gog and Magog war the nations that will fight against Israel and you can sort of come to a list there of about 10 ish kingdoms that exist at the minute these might not be the final 10 countries like Libya Sudan Iran Iraq say Syria Palestine Jordan Egypt Saudi Arabia these are the nations obviously they're given their old names put cush Assyria Babylon the the old names Persia in the Bible but there are modern-day equivalents now there's a very very interesting fact that if you put these 10 nations in if you just bring up their national flags it shows you something very interesting can you put up that last slide look they're the same four colors now so what well I don't know what to be honest so what it's just that might just be a pure coincidence and they might not be the nations anyway but if you just picked up European nations all right that you wouldn't get those four colors you might have them included but there's no yellows and there's no blues or oranges they're not are they I mean you pick most nations you know like America or Britain or France or Sweden and they're blues and yellows and okay yeah yeah but the nations that I mentioned that attack Israel in the Bible are white black red and green and there's another interesting connection of all those nations they're all Islamic why is that important because remember what Antichrist a mess the destruction of Israel all those nations hate Israel so I think there's even a prophetic code being outworked in the colors that might just be I wouldn't want to take that too far I wouldn't make a doctrine out of that but it is very interesting sting that we do have these these coincidences keep cropping up so when okay then let's try and pull this all together okay so the first seal the white horse the Antichrist comes the second seal the red horse comes antichrists war that follows him and it seems to be war as a religion remember Antichrist brings in a religious system as well as a political system now religions can be good or bad dependent on the the real basis of the religion but a religion that actually believes in war and destruction is the way to get things done can't be a good religion Antichrist brings war which then brings famine can we go to verse 5 of chapter 6 of Revelation chapter 6 verse I with Allah open the third seal I heard the third living creature say come I looked and there before me was a black horse its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures saying a kilogramme for a day's wages and three kilograms of barley for a day's wages and do not damage the oil and the wine that's very strange what does that mean well there's a very basic meaning for that that actually those wait there that's only enough to sustain one person so a full day's wage will literally feed one person on on stablish and rations basically that would be what a legionary had on on basic rations so the family is going to be incredibly severe but there's also some hints there some symbols that we might miss because it says don't damage the oil and the wine now the olive tree and the vine tree are both symbols of Israel so even in the midst of this death and destruction and war the living creatures are saying you have authority to do this but you don't have authority to destroy Israel can you see that the olive tree and the vine tree in the Bible are symbols of Israel even on the national coat of arms of Israel they have they have these symbols as well so and the and the oil and the vine of the oil and the wine are also symbols of the Holy Spirit so in other words in the midst of all this carnage and destruction you can't touch the Holy Spirit he's still there if people want saving God doesn't withdraw himself totally although these seals are open instructions gonna happen the Holy Spirit's still there to save I don't believe God removes this His grace but he has to release his judgment because that's what mankind has asked for so there are symbols of that what did the Good Samaritan do when he found the man half dead poured in the oil and the wine right God will still give you the grace the forgiveness if you turn to God even in that period and that famine that comes there comes upon the whole world okay the fourth seal if we go to verse 7 when the lamb opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the four living creature the fourth living creature say come I looked and there before me was this cloris this pale horse pale green it's rider was named death and Hades was following him close behind him they were given power of a quarter of the earth to kill by sword famine and plague and by the wild beasts of the earth so that the destruction is complete after this entire process you know you often find that you know did you know that after the first world war there was a plague a flu virus that went round the world world that actually killed more people in the war did more people died from that flu outbreak the pandemic that happened I think it was 1980 after 1918 then actually were killed in the wall this is the sort of thing that's going to happen and the wild beasts of the earth now remember in the biblical language that these animals of the earth it could be bacteria it's the living organisms that cause this destruction doesn't mean the cows are going to come in yeah it literally means the life of the earth kills people you know so it could be anything it could be flies it could be you know viruses mosquito viruses that kind of thing it could be anything that is caused by animal life that kills us and then the fifth seal is the martyrdoms but God still looks after all those who confess his name even in this period those who cry out to God he gives them a white garment to wear which is a symbol of salvation so even if people have to go through terrible persecution and death God is still there and then the sixth seal is the global Cataclysm so can we just go down to the end of this chapter then Luke just go down to verse 15 the kings of the earth the princes the generals the rich you see in this period it doesn't matter what your title your status your prestige that's not going to save you and everyone else both slave and free hitting the caves and among the rocks of the mountains they call to the mountains and rocks fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb so it would appear that this sign in the sky this this awareness now people are aware that they are actually in these final days for the great day of their wrath has come and who can withstand it so now what's going to come is the full wrath of God on the earth this wasn't it this was just the preparation for it God is going to judge those who have worshipped the Beast and who have worshiped the devil Lucifer Satan would have gone along with that system and so there's now going to be a pause we're going to see some things that God does in the next chapter and then the wrath of God is going to be unleashed I will look at that next time but we are just thankful that we are looking to him who is going to enable us to escape all these things and to stand before him amen amen god bless you all you
