gives her good days let's pray for the families of jill terry as well as brother joe mcknight the funeral for brother mcknight is tomorrow um great man great family we need to pray for that church that district and everybody that has been so positively impacted by that good man let's lift these needs to god and then let's enter into the presence of the lord god i thank you got every need that we have we bring to you and we know that you are well able to supply every need according to your riches and glory god i pray for sister loretta smith i pray for god daryl jeans i pray for sister hensley god heal all of their bodies god strengthen them raise them up god i pray in your mighty name god i pray for comfort for jill terry's family as well as those who are impacted by the passing of brother mcknight god he has received the reward that he has worked for all of his life but we fill the whole and we we miss him greatly and i thank you for your love and your comfort god in this room tonight we've gathered to worship you and to hear your word and to be impacted by your word god we give you praise for your goodness for your mercy god you're so incredible to us we thank you in jesus grow up i can exhort as well as he does he he said more in exhorting than many people say in a whole message absolutely phenomenal uh and tomorrow night we'll be right back here seven o'clock for a two-part message today and tomorrow that is about a subject that is incredibly important in our lives i don't know of any better communicator than brother osborne he is a consummate storyteller he he is just a phenomenal student of the word of the lord and i have been blessed personally by being with him for a few days and i know our church has and really what he's doing tonight and tomorrow night is what he came to do all the rest is just gravy what we've enjoyed to this point uh we're so thankful that he's here uh thrilled to have my friend brother buddy marshall great to have brother and sister bob evans here as well let's give these fine folks a great big welcome to faith love all of these dear folks i've known the evances for years uh they may have a few stories they could tell on me please don't um before you leave tonight we have the march calendar and they said due to snow it wasn't here yesterday but it's here so it's it's right on time it's first day of march it's here right around the altar if you want to pick it up tonight or tomorrow night if not we'll have to the bulletin sunday let's put our hands together and welcome brother j.h osborne to faith apostolic church again so thrilled that you were here sir taking time out of your busy schedule to be with us today god bless you thank you so much you can be seated i don't have any time tonight to waste it's not wasted really but i do a lot of meandering and you know i have to break myself out of that the subject we're going to talk about tonight a title to cry for holiness i actually didn't do it to good on the road with it i just did it for our church and i've redone it probably a half a dozen times and try to make it a little more a little more continuity to it as you as you teach it but the one of the reasons that i i chose to teach on wholeness is that there seems to be a lack of knowledge concerning the subject i mean about everybody believes in it but i don't know that they can justify their and and understand why they believe in it because some embrace holiness and because they belong to an organization that requires it they have a manual it requires you you do certain things i get it simply because their pastor simply requires it if you want to be in good standing with the church you have to be holy if you want to get on the platform you want to minister be in the choir music preach whatever some churches you know they say well you you know you have to be holy i get that i i understand you know or some people just say it's the standard of our church [Music] but what i've noticed is when people start getting cold in their soul it's about the first thing to go the first things to go i'm talking about outward holiness it's one of the first things to go and uh so i think it happens because people don't really understand it you know they don't really comprehend it and moses uh spoke to in the book of exodus he says to come to pass when you come into the land which the lord give you according as he has promised that you shall keep this service how about the passover and it shall come to pass when your children say unto you what mean ye by this service you have to be able to explain it because he knew when they got into canaan's land you know it would not be the generation that came out of egypt that actually did the passover that generation would all be dead they died in the wilderness so you bring in another generation into the promised land that were not there to experience the passover they were not there putting the blood on the doorpost they were not there to the howling and the firstborn being dead in every household they were not there when the death angel passed over they don't know anything about it so when you get this new generation you better be able to explain the passover because they will do it for a while but eventually not knowing even what it means they will stop doing it so he said when you get there understand your children are going to say what meaneth then this what does it mean you know eating unleavened bread keeping a keeping a a lamb up and sacrificing put it on the doorpost what does that mean and if you can't explain the meaning of it a generation that did not experience will not do it very long so he said you we want you to keep doing this but you'll have to be able to explain it and so that they that generation understood that because uh hosea said my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge they don't understand it through study they if they don't have an information experience they they must have facts and they must have some data you know so this body of truth has been accumulated in the course of time because when people get colds i said sometimes it's the first thing that goes and i don't want that to happen and so my energy will be and i'm sure my objective would be when i am finished you should have enough knowledge and understanding of the whys and the wherefores and what does it mean that you should be able to embrace that and have that down in your heart and have it in your mind and be able to know why how come what prophet is there in it that you would be able to know that now we're going to go sometime to the book of leviticus if i was a young preacher which i'm not but if i was talking to a young preacher i'd say you know if you're going to preach go any place you want to go just stay on the book of leviticus you know because you're going to bore people to tears that's where you're going to go with your subject matter you know you go someplace with some action at and and leviticus is not warm and fuzzy you know it's not going to make you a lot of friends and so the book of leviticus it was written to the levites that's why it's called leviticus it's an instruction concerning the law concerning sacrifices and holy convocations and festivals and sabbaths and peace and meats and sins and trespasses offerings it's it's about laws of purification and laws of leprosy and the regulation of the atonement and laws of holiness and injustice and what makes the book so difficult to preach out of is that there is no story line that kills me there's no storyline in it and there's no speaking characters in the book of leviticus it's a crazy book there's no conversations there are no interactions there's no historical plot there's no relationship there are no love affairs there's no battles there are no miracles there's nothing sensational in the book you know it's a this is a tough book but that's where we're going for a little while tonight but there is no book in your bible that contains more of the direct word of god than this book this is god's book and his voice is all you ever hear he is almost throughout the whole book the direct speaker if god's words were in red this would be a red letter book because nobody else gets to talk but god there are no personal opinions in the book of leviticus there are no man's thoughts in the book there's no fleshly ideas there's no real dialogue between man and god or god and man there's no carnal reasoning leviticus is not a human interest story the only little thing you might pick up on and work with a little bit you're going to have a lot more to go with it is when abihu and and nadab brought some strange fire in and god burn them up and they were mo they were aaron sons and so aaron jumped on moses for what god did and uh and moses said god will be sanctified in them they come nigh to him and they come nigh to him with strange fire and god just cooked them and uh so aaron was quiet after that never said another word about it never brought the subject up again and so that's the only little episode that's in there there's just nothing else it's just god talking god talking so if you think the words of jesus in red were important these are the words of god in red they're not in red but they very well could be in very well could be in red the words it is written are used 64 times in the new testament now the new testament was not written when the people were there they were living it it was not written until later on but the new testament writers used the old testament to validate what they were saying and to to to make it in concrete the truth of what they were saying and so they said they would say some they said for it is written that was going back to the old testament had already been written and validate what they had just said so 64 times some people say you know all i care is i don't care about the old testament i just carry the new testament with me and i know the old testament's all passed away and jesus has fulfilled it all but i beg your pardon he has not fulfilled it all jesus says fulfill the ceremonial law but he didn't fulfill the moral law the moral law still enforced today and so when you look at the old testament the new testament writers used the old testament to validate and enforce what they had just said so i think if the new testament writers could use that to give value and importance to what they just said we ought to be able to go to the old testament even leviticus because it has more in it that old testament or the new testament writers use so in the book of first peter just to begin i have i've gotta i've gotta go quickly i don't i don't i got a lot of scriptures but i don't have time to really stop and invest any time in them in first peter 1 beginning 13-16 wherefore gird up the loins of your minds be sober and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of jesus christ as obedient children not fasting yourselves according to the former lust of your ignorance but as he which is holy so be ye holy in all manner of conversation then he says because this is the reason i write this to you he said because it is written be ye holy for i am holy so peter validates his impression of putting holiness into your life because it was written be holy that's why he enforces that this is not my idea i didn't concoct it i didn't come up with it i didn't read a manual i didn't find anybody tell me about this i'm telling i got what i'm saying from what the old testament said because it's written there i'm just talking it now but this is where he wrote it down at so this cry for holiness rings out through the entire bible it is the keynote of the book of leviticus from which peter's holiness subject is originally taken so he validates a new testament need by an old testament command you know some claim as i said you know the old testament has nothing to do with the new but the old was a type and shadow obviously it's not the substance but it was a type and shadow but if you have a proper shadow old testament shadow you ought to be able to put the substance up to the shadow and it ought to fit if your shadow is two feet taller than the substance you've got the wrong substance because the substance ought to fit the shadow in leviticus 11 44 47 for i am the lord your god you shall therefore sanctify yourselves and you shall be holy for i am holy that's leviticus neither shall ye defile yourself with any manner of creeping things now you understand this is elementary this is not this is not college stuff this is not you don't have to put your thinking cap on you know when they came out when they came out of the promised land because of the famine and jacob came because he realized joseph was alive and he's coming back there were 70 souls so those 70 souls stayed in goshen 430 years when they came out of goshen and they're gonna come out to the passover there were six hundred thousand men about three and a half million of them said they went from 70 to three and a half million people in about in a few hundred years 430 years so but these 400 these these three and a half million people had lived in egypt and they were born and raised there all but 70. so the vast majority of them were were marinated in the culture of egypt only 70 of when they got the other 430 years they were they were they were they were they lived their lives under the culture of egypt and so they didn't have a temple they didn't have a church everything everything they just lived in in egypt you know and then when they came out you got 600 000 of them now who were born and reared and lived their lives in the culture of egypt and the land of goshen so when you start teaching them they have no basis they have no understanding they don't know you've got to get pretty elementary you can't just start out with the book of revelation or you can't start out with some the tabernacle i'm going to tell you what the silver sockets are they don't even know what a socket is you know they don't know anything about the tabernacle you know that you can't start out you got to start much lower you know if you're in the hospital and a man's dying don't start out with us with the tabernacle he'll be dead before you get through it you know you got to get you got to move on over just a little further you know and uh because you start out there you'll be preaching to be talking to a dead man don't take your bible study your charts with you the man's got a few hours to live you know and you better get to the point and in israel been in there you know 430 years and you can't just start out with some high falutin search for truth you gotta you gotta start basic and that's what the book of leviticus is for i am the lord your god you shall therefore sanctify yourselves and you shall be holy notice this i am hol for i am holy neither shall you defy yourself with any manner of creeping things that creepeth upon to keep creeps out of your life for i am the lord that bring you up out of the land of egypt to be your god you shall therefore be holy for i am holy this is the law of beast and of thous and of every living creature that move upon the waters and every creature that creepeth upon the earth he's starting out with creeping things you can't start out with eagles you got to start out with bugs and creeping stuff and crawling stuff he says in the next verse i make a difference between the unclean and the clean and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten i make a difference god said there is a difference between what i say is holy and what you may think is holy i make a difference between what is clean and what is unclean you got to start out telling this generation there is a difference in things there is a difference i make a difference in things this is the elementary teaching of a nation born and reared in egypt as a band of slaves they had no government they had no rule they had no law this is the beginning of it and the lord spake unto moses saying speak unto the children this is leviticus 19 and verse 1 and the lord speaking the most saying speaking of the congregation of children of israel and saying to them ye shall be holy for i the lord your god am holy you shall fear every man as mother and his father and keep his sabbaths i am the lord your god turn you not to idols either make yourselves molten gods for i am the lord your god leviticus 20 and verse 7 sanctify yourselves therefore and be holy for i am the lord your god you shall keep my statues and do them i am the lord that sanctify you leviticus 20 and 23 you shall not walk in the manner of the nations which i cast out before you don't pick up on the style of the people where i'm taking you to because you're going to pass through some other folks you're going to pass through their lands i want you to pick stuff up from them don't say well they eat it so i can eat it they do it so i can do it they dress that up so i could he said don't pick up stuff from people around you this elementary teaching like sending your kids to camp sit down talk to them about who they're supposed to run with you know don't get involved in bad behavior don't look at lookouts because there's always somebody camp you know putting post toasties in somebody's bed or doing something you know if he's got a can of whip a can of of whipped cream with him there's going to be trouble at camp you know i know it's going to happen he brings a squirt gun with him you know it's going to be don't be picking up on what other people are doing this this is basic you know he's talking to children there may be six hundred thousand men but he's talking to them like they're kids you know now he said you shall not walk in the mouth of the nation that's what they cast out before they commit all these things therefore i abhor them but i have said unto you you shall inherit their land and i will give it to possession it and the land that flows with milk and honey i am the lord your god which have separated you from those people again i am the god that makes a difference i make a difference between these people and that people and i have separated you from those people now things are no different it's hard to separate them if i give a box of jelly beans and i'll tell you well let's separate them well what do you want see you've got to have make a difference do you want the red one separated or do you want the green one separate i can separate them if you'll tell me what what you want me to separate here you know he said i will make a difference so you'll be able to separate yourself from you'll know they're not like you therefore you will separate yourself from them so to separate from something you have to know what is the difference so i can take that out of my life so i don't hang with that i don't run with that tell me what the difference is so i can separate myself from them you shall therefore put a difference between clean beast and unclean between unclean fowls and clean you shall not make your souls abominable by a beast or by a foul or by inner manner of living thing that creepeth upon the ground which i have separated you from you shall be holy unto me for i the lord god am holy and have severed you from other people i know you look a lot like them your eyes may be the same they got a nose on their face they got a mouth they got to speak they're about your same height he said i want you to understand that you're going to be holy because not only did i make a difference in your life but i have severed you from those people i have cut you loose from them i have distinguished you i made a marvelous difference in your life not some manner adjustment you know i made a marvelous difference in your life that i brought you out living while i kill all the firstborn of the nation of egypt because i make a difference the blood on the doorpost makes a difference when the past pass when the angel passes over the death angel passes there are things that make a difference god said i made a difference in you and now i'm separating you from those people because my difference that i make creates separation i can't make a difference in your life and leave you there i have to make the difference in your life then i have to separate you from those that are different from that you helped me jesus i'm spitting all over my book i can't even see what i'm reading here so the book of leviticus is a is a containing an itemized list of clean and unclean the lawful and the unlawful the forbidden and the ordained the divine threatenings and divine blessings you know what to do and what not to do it's about punishment and about rewards and all of this comes under the heading of a cry for holiness the reason i'm doing all this i want you to be holy for i am holy i am not going to have an unholy people serving a holy god so if you want to be my people then you have to be like me i am a holy god and i will not tolerate a people who are unholy that's for i separate you from them so that people will recognize you are my people and understand i'm a holy god therefore i need holy people it's pretty simple really it's not complex maybe unless i make it that way holy you're set apart you're separated from common use to be distinct different from all the others individual you're lacking connection to others you're readily and unmistakably just not some minor difference you know it's not some little you know like twins well he's got a mole behind his ear well you know it's kind of a minor thing you know unless you check his ears you don't know which one is which one you know this is not some minor difference this is a marvelous difference this is a highly distinctive difference that people can recognize that as you go down the street that can recognize that you're not like other people because you serve a god that's not like other gods you come out of egypt land with all kinds of gods everywhere he said but if you're going to be my people i'm a holy god and if you're going to be my people you have to be a holy people just simple as that this call to holiness demanded discrimination that is in all aspects of your life in living it concluded it included your eating and your behavior and your relationships your social life you know getting saved will cut into your social life folks won't invite you to the parties no more because you're you're you mess things up you know and uh so they gonna invite you i tell boys you know you you you're gonna be a holy young man understand they never go and girls ain't gonna be singing oh come let us adore him you know he's just a little too holy for their taste you know and and young ladies likewise you know boys are not going to flock around you and they understand you're holy you know i thought that was better than that really but maybe it wasn't it's your morality your dress you know your family life your marriage i said the other day god gets in all your businesses he doesn't think any he doesn't have no understanding lines holiness is the property of god alone nobody's born holy it is the totality of his divine attributes it is the sum of his infinite being he is the essence of his deity you blend them all together all of his attributes all of his elohims all of his else shadows take them all and put them in a pot and then cook them down to a rule distill them down to those basic components get rid of all the water and get rid of all the fragrances out of it you know and you get all those divine qualities into a single chord it's probably better and you call that chord holiness that's what he is when everything has been boiled down to its basic components god is holy he's holy holiness is the word that expresses in a single term all that god goes to make up the nature and the spirit of god it is said i am holy that's who i am is i am all that you would ever need i am your healer i am the door to the sheeple i am your shepherd but you take all that and put it in the thing and boil it down and he says i am holy it's holiness that sets him apart from all other gods none like him and he said to whom were you liking me i'm not like any of the gods of egypt they got ears but they can't hear they got a nose they can't smell good eyes i can't see if you want to move you've got to carry them every place you go i'm not like that i'm holy and i demand my people that are going to be they're going to call me their god to be like me in a measure that they should be holy isaiah said of the year that uzziah died i saw the lord high and lifted up and his throne high and lifted up and his train fell off the temple above us to the seraphims each one had six wings and twain he covered his face in between he covered his feet and between he just fly and they cried one to another they're saying this one to another holy holy holy is the lord god of hosts the whole earth is full of his glory now i am of the opinion i guess any other opinion could be as valid as mine is but they're saying it to one another holy holy holy be the lord god almighty they are protectors of his holiness now just remember don't let anything through that might defile his holiness don't let an intruder get through as they as they flew around with their wings saying one remember it's holy holy holy holy holy holy ho the whole world is full of his glory they are protectors of his holiness we cannot let anything that would come in that would defile we can't let anything come wandering in to his holiness and get through to god if anybody's going to come through and get close to god they're going to have to be holy because you've got to go through the seraphims that fly around all to protectors of his holiness protectors of his holiness hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah don't violate his holiness don't don't intrude in something keep out the unholy now she'll make a plate of pure gold i'm jumping over the book of exodus the 20th chapter that shall make a plate of pure gold engraving upon it like the gravies of the signet holiness to the lord thou shall put it up on the blue lace and it may be upon the mitre upon the forefront of the might or shall it be shall be upon aaron's forehead that aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things which the children of israel shall hallow in all holy gifts this shall always be upon his forehead that they may be accepted of the lord that might or that hat that thing they put on his head that mitre it was on blue lace but then across his forehead it said holiness to the lord on his forehead they didn't wear that on his chest they wear that on his arm this was not some kind of a ringlet that hung and other things were attached to this is on aaron's head and he wears it all the time holiness to the lord holiness he wears it on his he wears it on his forehead if you want your if you want your sacrifice to be acceptable to the lord you have to have this holiness up on your forehead and the reason of the forehead let me just talk about that for a minute you understand that that that leprosy is a type of sin a little and i know you've been taught excellence your pastor has been an excellent teacher you know and i love him for all he's taught now i love him for the standard and the position he's taken concerning the word of god and the priest shall look upon it talking about leprosy behold if the rising of the sore be white reddish and his bald head let's just don't get too critical of that it's reddish in his bald head or in his bald forehead as the leprosy appeareth in the skin of the flesh he's a leprous man he's unclean the priesthood pronounced him under unclean because his plague is in his hand now whenever you get leprosy at its end is it gets in your head that's the end of leprosy that's when you have to put your hand over your mouth and cry unclean unclean if you could hide the leprosy like it was on your back or on your arm like naaman you know he had he was a leper but nobody could see it because he kept it covered up you know according to where leprosy starts out it may start out in your big toe but it's headed to your head ultimately that's where it's going to reside at that's when you are a leper you are you are now a certified leper and you have to cry out unclean unclean you don't have to cry anything long as the leprosy was somewhere else that you could hide it put it under your coat that's where sin is you know sometimes sinners are able to hide it for a while you know they still look good but eventually it's headed it's headed right up that's why your holiness has to first of all get on your forehead that's where you wear for a wholeness on your head because that's where sin wants to go it wants to go to your forehead and i thought that was better than that but you know leprosy at its worst state you know when uzziah was roth he had a sensor in his hand burning incense while he was wrought with the priest the leprosy rose in his forehead before the priest and in the house of the lord and beside the incense altar so holiness the holiness he said this is basic because it's simple quite simple that aaron should have this holiness in his forehead because that's where sin wants to go is in your forehead and holiness should be there to protect your head from leprosy and sin getting in your life holiness to the lord on the forehead was a type of the shadow of getting holiness into your mind you're getting holiness into your way of thinking holiness be grasped by the intellect it's knowledge and understanding you can't get holiness in your mouth or in your tongue you've got to get it up here in your brain it's got holiness has got to get in your mind what is why wholeness in your mind because it keeps sin out of your life it keeps pollution out of your life because you get holy see because that's where leopards is going to end up at it may be a little sin some place that you can hide you'd do them and nobody knows you know because you watch it in the dark on the internet or what have you you know you got a little something you can hide away from nobody knows your wife don't know you no i'm not going there please help me god not to go there anyway it's not my business but you know you can do whatever you want to do and hide it you know and you know naaman hid it nobody knew he was a leper he went crying unclean unclean and it hadn't got to his head yet because the head is the place where choices are made it's the place where decisions are made it's the place where you get your affections and your emotions it's the moral issues and values are determined in your head it's the place of judgment it's the place of conclusion because the cry for holiness there are always choices to be made in living a life of separation when god separates you it severs you and makes you different from everyone else you better get that in your brain because it makes every choice everything you decide you're going to do when you get up and look in the mirror everything you put on everything you eat every place you go every place you're comfortable at you've got to first have it in your brain because if you can let everybody else decide for you you don't have holiness in your brain have those in your mind our text peter reminds us to gird up the loins of your mind don't let your mind be free-flowing gird it up tie a sash around it get it girded up you know because of the loyalty of your mind because loins are a place where things are are birthed you know first of all it takes place in your brain in your mind before you ever do anything if you're going to rob a bank first of all you get it in your mind you want to rob a bank if you can kill it in your mind you may not do it but first of all you've got to have holiness in you i thought about doing some things to some saints but holiness kept me from going to prison and saying things i shouldn't have said you know saints will try you that's another story all together you know peter said gird up the loins of your mind don't allow them to flow freely your loins are a place of creation it's a place of reproduction things are born your loins things come out of your mind shouldn't come out of your mind you better have a plate of holiness on your brain on your mind up here or leprosy will get you to do things you shouldn't have done say things you shouldn't have said in the book of matthew i said when they came to a place called galgotha that is to say the place of the skull because up there on that hill was a place jesus was not the only one crucified on golgotha it was the place of capital punishment so the ground was littered with skulls of men women who made poor choices and bad decisions and wrong emotions and values and judgments so the cross of christ was planted in the place of the skull he took crucifixion and he shoved it down into the skull that's where the things about god have got to be you've got them you've got to plant it down in your skull the place of the skull you need to take the cross of crucifixion so you die every day of your life because you get the cross planted in your skull gal gotha is your head it's the place where holiness is at it's a place where you make decisions and choices but jesus christ was taken to the place of bad choices and he was crucified there that you might make good choices and good decisions and they that of christ paul wrote have crucified the flesh with their affections and their lusts holiness is set apart separated from common use you're distinct you're different from all others you're an individual you're lacking a connection to others you're readily and unmistakably different to be other than the rest so holiness we must be at the heart of every matter it's up for judgment you have to make a decision you have to understand well i have to forsake my wholeness in order to do that we'll have to give up something we were not allowed to go to uh when i was growing up we were not allowed to go to theme parks and places like that we had one called uh uh i'll think of a diminished middle ages riverside they had they had the him because they had this big shindig this big party and all the wealthy people and all the highfalutin folks that got i didn't get imitation nor did you but the the all the high you know the big wigs plaster of the wall of the king's palace and the king saw the part of the hand that had written he didn't know what it said but he was pretty sure he hadn't won some kind of an award he's pretty sure babylon the most notorious city that was ever built he burned it he tore it down over a goblet over a goblet he used a holy goblet to drink out of people and glorify other gods god doesn't take it lightly he brought down the one of the greatest nations there ever birthed upon planet earth one of the most beautiful places that were ever built over a goblet because it was a holy goblet do you think god doesn't care about holiness you better not be praising other gods with and him hear you so this inanimate object we're declared holy because of their intended use in rendering service to the holy god to violate their sanctified use was to invite the judgments of god and brought down the greatest kingdom that ever existed on earth over goblets but as he has called you as holy peter said so be holy in all manner of conversation for god have called not called us into uncleanness but but to holiness god saved us and he called us timothy says to timothy with a holy calling not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace which has given us in christ before the world begin so god has not summoned us to a height that we cannot attend see but i just can't be holy i know i just can't do this now i just can't do that now i can't wear this and i can't wear that i got to work at wendy's you know or i've got whatever you know listen this country was founded with people people weren't addressed let me go ahead and say it you know they give birth to babies they they they they loaded muskets and they fought indians and they did everything you know and well i your life now he says in the book of hebrews 12 9 for furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh we've corrected us and we gave them reverence my dad my dad believed in it he didn't know the bible but he believed in that verse right there he believed in timeout take time out to whip you that's the only believer furthermore we have fathers in our flesh who corrected us and gay and we gave them reverence i did i'd beg my mother with me i'd beg her please well but don't let dad get on with me you know my mother didn't wear a belt so my dad did and that was the difference in the whole whipping spirits and live now this is why you should be subject to that for they verily for a few days chased us after their own pleasure that's your natural father but he that is god for our prophet that we might be partakers of his holiness well how does a weapon make you partakers of his holiness it's called discipline that's why it's one of the first things to go because people are undisciplined they haven't been disciplined properly because when you're disciplined to do it you don't do it anymore you know and this father of spirits he creates holiness in your life through discipline because he whips you when you do wrong and you act like you're not holy when you say an unholy thing he'll get a switch and if you can do it and not bother you anymore that's because you don't have a father so anybody tells me well i can do that don't bother me you know well that's your problem right there you don't have a father because he disciplines you to bring about holiness is not a one-time thing it's a process that god has to put you through you know you people get baptized in jesus name filled with the holy ghost come to church painted up like a japanese umbrella you know they don't they don't they don't just change because you put them down the water you know it's a process you know first thing you know god chastises them over something next thing you know they take that off and put this off you know and they and they quit put the gallon of paint away and they it just things change in their life so he said he disciplines you so you could be a partaker of holiness that is he knocks off the rough corners you follow peace you know you you you get your life straightened out and first thing you know things start dropping off you know and you quit doing things you know he said follow peace with all men in holiness without which no one will see the lord so when you come to the conclusion unless you're holy you're never going to see the lord in peace that's how much he values holiness that i am holy if you're going to name my name the bible said depart from sin if you're going to name the name of the lord you're going to go around talking about god talking about the lord and talking about him then get away from everything that's unholy well sweet gee let me see where i'm at here i ain't got a lot being incept being in subjection to the father of spirits you must submit to the holy spirit the holy ghost yield to his will his authority his right to rule to bring to pass the requirements of chastening and discipline in your life what does the process of discouraging and chastening and discipline accomplish in your life the bible says that you might be partakers of his holiness i'm trying to get you to be like me and i get you to be like me by disciplining you so i don't think he's a bad god because he disciplines you he does that so he could be a partaker of his holiness i would not have we said what would jesus do that was a big deal going around for a long time you know god said if you're not doing like i'm doing you know i'm going to discipline you to try to get rid of that out of your life let me see so let me let me get over here i'll never get done he says in second corinthians that there is a danger in this elementy teaching of god that he doesn't want you to mingle he doesn't want you to get together with others he he food there how do i get off on that i don't know oh yeah the lord said you can't have no catfish because everything he's got to have scales on it catfish got skinned don't have no scales you know so you have no catfish you can't have hush puppies ain't no sense of having hush puppies you can't have catfish you know so it just eliminates a lot of food groups out of your life you know so he had all these rules and laws and stuff that you couldn't have you know and but he's trying to separate things it wasn't there was something polluted in that because he left the sheet down to peter and it had all that in there and peter said i ain't eating that stuff god i never have eaten i ain't gonna eat it you know he said call that nothing cleansed that i've called nothing unclean that i have cleansed so somewhere between leviticus and and that sheet letting down got to clean some things up so they could have it and i'm glad i got beyond the sheet and got out of leviticus over here but it's elementary teaching this is this is clean this is not clean this is good for you this is not good for you this is right and this is wrong and he made those elementary teachings but you know he said don't even plant your fields if you're going to plant a field plant the whole field with one kind of seed if you're going to plant corn plant corn don't be planting tomatoes out there in your corn what was he trying to tell them separate them make them distinct when you drive by that's a cornfield and that's a tomato field we don't know the difference between men and women anymore drive by and i don't know if it's a man or a woman i don't really know god's wouldn't have that he said if you're going to plant something make it the whole field don't mingle it together because the next thing you know you'll get cross-pollination and you'll lose identity as to what it really is if you're going to plant hot peppers you're going to plant peppers don't plant them in the same pot because they cross-pollinate and your hot peppers will get over in your sweet peppers then you don't really have a hot or a sweet pepper you've got a mingled pepper and he didn't want people mingling be separate plant your fields don't mingle them don't plow don't plow with a donkey and a calf if you're gonna plow plow with two donkeys or plant with two calves don't mingle them it's elementary teaching they're separate i don't want to see you mingling stuff that he's trying to teach them don't you mingle you lose your identity because if you stay with mingling long enough you'll lose your identity and you'll cross-pollinate with some heathen group over there that's why he's getting this right here be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers because you cross pollinate make it worse than that for what fellowship with righteousness with unrighteousness and what communion with light with darkness or what concord had christ with belial or what part that he with a believer with an infidel and that and what agreement had the temple of god with idols for you are the temple of the living god and god has said i will dwell in them and walk in them i will be their god and they shall be my people. so don't get unequally yoked up with them going business with somebody that's not going to pull in the same direction you're good if you're getting married pick out a girl or a boy who is equally yoked with you who are both pulling in the same direction that's free no concord they've got no harmony you know there's no concord it's a cord you can tell where people are singing or not separate because you'd have to get out of the world he said just don't hang around people that are not you're not equally yoked you're not pulling in the same direction don't get associated with somebody that is not on the same note that you're on don't get around with somebody that does not agree with you is the value of your experience they have a different experience because you need to come out from among them and be ye separate because separate is what you don't plant two things in the same field you don't plow with two different animals and you don't get hooked up with people that of the flesh and the spirit doesn't just talk about this is just a spirit thing it's it's it's it's the filthiness of the flesh and the spirit so exp expecting them to be holiness he said having therefore these promises dearly beloved let us cleanse ourself from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit perfecting holiness in the fear of god that's how you perfect holiness because you're paying attention to your flesh and your spirit not just spirit but spirit and not just flesh because i don't care how you dress you can dress as holy as you want to dress and you should dress if you've got a bad spirit about you that ain't that's not holiness that's not real holiness wholeness is flesh and spirit because that's how you perfect holiness in your life through the discipline to know it's about my heart and my appearance it works out the flaws it removes the rough edges it eliminates weaknesses and brings us to completion we're not perfect but he's trying to get us complete at least this is a twofold separation for holiness to be perfected it is spirit and it is flesh spirit and flesh not one or the other but both combined you are separated from something i want you to get this you are separated from something and you're separated unto something it's from and to not just from or not just to but it's from something and to something let me give you the example look at the vow the nazirite deals with flesh and spirit remember samson lord spake of the son moses the lord spake unto moses saying speak to children of israel that they say to them neither man or woman shall lights you know they've got a horse they tie up and a buggy they they ride in you know they wear homemade clothes you know about separate from the 21st generation they're vastly more separated from this generation than you are they don't have a telephone they don't ever carry anything they don't have no music they're separated from the 21st gen so if you're just talking about separated from things they're way ahead of you as we're separated from things it's not enough to be separated from something you've got to be separated then unto something from and to perfects holiness that's holiness from and to something and he shall be separated from wine and strong grapes and shall drink no vinegar of wine or vinegar or strong drink neither shall i drink any liquor of grapes nor eat moist grapes or dried all the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree from the colonel even to the husk separated from and two will distinguish him though all the days of the vows of separation there's no razor come up on his head until the days be fulfilled in which he separated himself unto the lord now this hair nearly seven locks of his hair were a demonstration and a visible evidence wherever he went that he was not just separated from grapes and drink and raisins and and vines and vineyards that was what he was separated from but be separated on two was the evidence of the seven perfect locks that he had on his head that was evidence he was separated unto the lord we'll talk more about that just a moment a nazareth was to mcclintock the dad but you can't try to act like your dad if you didn't have a good dad it's nice to have a dad you can emulate but you cannot make yourself unclean for your father or your mother or his brother or a sister when they die because the consecration of god is up on his head so you can't hang around dead things if your mother dies or your father dies you can't be a pallbearer you can't carry them out because you're not supposed to touch dead things you stay away from deadness what is deadness new testament dentists what's he talking about the prodigal son's father said this my son was dead what was he was dead in sins and trespasses she that liveth in sin is dead while she liveth therefore staying away from dead things and staying away from people i'm not talking about just talking about know what his seven locks were those were his separation to god that's where he strikes you out separation from the flesh he had already broke that but his separation to god was his crown it was his crown and when he took his crown away from him he's no longer a prince now for god he cut off his crown and he became just like any other man as weak as water satan will attack you at what separates you unto god he wants you to separate from things and he will discipline you every time you break that separation from things but when it comes to being separated unto god that's where he wants to get your crown because that's where your power lies that's where god's going to come to your rescue because you wear that nazarite vow that i'm not only just committed to not do the things of the world but i am separated now unto god i'm coming down the stretch yeah come on let that go you know because something is technically legal doesn't mean that it's spiritually appropriate i was uh you know you got to watch yourself all the time a little pond behind our house and there's a walking trail that goes meanders around over there you know and i walked that trail i was walking over there and i looked down there was a bud light bottle in there somebody threw it out of a car some guy was you know a real a real exercise enthusiast was drinking and he just threw his blood like bottle down my in the in the gutter you know and my neighbors see it later i thought of all kinds of ways where this could go south you know the wheels could come over this idea very very quickly you know i don't want anybody to see it laying in my yard i almost said laying in the gutter i don't want anybody to see any carrying it you know i'm just trying to get away from the appearance of it you know because i i i reached for it then the lord just you know had wholeness on my head i guess he said if you're going to be mine you know do what i would do and so i just kicked it over all the way it's not that would be illegal but the appearance of it how it appears to somebody who doesn't really know because i can't stop every car and say listen no this isn't empty i didn't drink it you know okay you can go next card i didn't really pick i just picked this up but don't have anything in it i don't know who put it there okay you i can't explain it to everybody you know and i don't know who would see it might be might be nobody would see it but i'm not willing to take a risk you know abstain from the very appearance of you like good that was my next thought here yeah your public view of things that you know when i was young and uh and uh we had a we had a was always racing cars i used to drag race and you know we love to do it and uh and the bible said you know they chief to walk out the flesh in the lust of uncleanness they despise governments governors anything your lawnmowers probably got a governor won't let it rev up so many rpms the cars have governors on them won't let it go over certain rpms governor's death always tends to restrain tends to hold you back that's why they despise government because they don't want anything that tends to hold them back i want to do whatever i want to do when i want to do it so they despise anything that tends to hold them back we used to work on cars and build them up and drag race them anything from whatever you know we we put a 357 uh engine in the back seat of a car and they'd raise the front wheels off the ground we were proud of it you know we uh we would change all the internal parts you know of an automobile engine you know we'd change the you know the cam and put an 097 cam in it and dome the pistons and board stroke it and put roller tappets in it and put headers on and change the gear ratio of the differential and and we would increase carburetion and put blowers on them and get a much heavier transmission to be able to hold up under that you know we put spent all of our money making it go fast and uh that's what that's what drag racing is all about going fast for a quarter of a mile but when you increase the horsepower to go fast you must then spend some money on being able to stop we could go fast we just couldn't stop it was like a rocket but we hadn't spent no money on stopping you know so every dollar you put into going fast you have to put a dollar into stopping this thing you know because your brakes will fade you can't have old drum brakes you know and you want to go you know 165 miles an hour back in that day and you got old drum brakes on there you know a little bit and probably the brake shoes wore out on it anyway they get hard and crystallized you put the brakes on and you stop somewhere between here and the airport out there someplace because you you didn't put no money in stopping you know you got to invest on something besides just going fast it's not just about going you want to go fast but you've got to have some stopping power somewhere you've got to have something when you see a bud light laying on something that stops you just as quick as something that can move you fast you got to invest something in your ability not to do things that's why you need to be in church you need to be in bible study you need to listen you need to talk you need to you know if you don't if you don't and i'm closing with this if you don't like government you just don't like government you don't like things that tend to tell you what to do and where to go and how to behave and how to act and how to dress and how to go through all you just don't like that so i want to do whatever i want to do then you're going to enjoy hell hell will be the perfect place for you perfect place because it's it's it's enlarged its measure has no measurement to it it will enlarge itself to accommodate you with whatever you want to take there's nothing you have to take off to go to hell there's nothing you have to restrain yourself from to go to hell because it enlarges its mouth without measure so if you want to take your drugs with it you can take them with you if you want a little pot to smoke because it'll make you feel better just take it with you if you want some hashes or you want some drugs or you want some pornography just take it with you it'll open up big enough to take you all in and it doesn't have a bottom in it so there's going to be an eternal falling in my estimation it doesn't have a bottom it doesn't have any limits doesn't have any lines to it so it takes in everything you want to take with you so it's going to be great maybe maybe not because if you want to go to heaven or you want to go to new jerusalem it is 1500 miles square you go 1501 mile and you're out because it has limits it has lines it has government to it it tends to restrain you you can't go into jerusalem any way you want to go in it has gates they're made out of pearl but this has gates it has foundations to it so it has a bottom to it 12 foundations each one name one of the disciples on one of the apostles on on on the foundations it's 1500 miles square got 12 foundations new jerusalem has a lot of limits it's not limitless it has structure so if you don't like structure and you don't like lines and you don't like limits i mean you're going to be miserable you need to go the other place i'm saying that facetiously you understand hell is going to be a horrible place worm never dies there your soul never dies eternal burning you almost like to burn your finger what about your whole body being on fire with fire and brimstone sticking to you and you fall eternally and you not i'm somewhere for a week or six months for a year i'm talking about forever and ever and ever with no escape you see i'll have plenty of friends friends ain't gonna do you no good there i've been friends it's like being in the hospital and saying well i got a lot of friends in the hospital yeah but they got their own problems you know they have surgeries here there's not a lot of friend making in the hospital because everybody's crying and everybody's hurting and everybody's got problems so what i'm saying is you know if you don't like the structure of church and how things are done because anything that doesn't have government to it doesn't have any restrictions it has no lines has no barriers it has no protection has no guardrails to it if that's what you want then hell it would be perfectly for you you know because it has no bottom and it has no sides it opens its mouth without measure it's immeasureless to receive all those who want to come into it it happens he welcomes everyone but if you want to go to the new jerusalem the same spirit that raised christ from the dead is going to have to dwell in you he's already coming back as far as the clouds and when he comes back before the clouds if the same spirit that raised christ from the dead dwells in you it's going to quicken your mortal spirit and you're going to be changed in a moment in a twinkling of an eye and we're going to go be with the lord and every day shall we be with the lord from there on so holiness holiness is not a bad thing it's god's purpose and plan so if you are without discipline you cannot be holy because it's discipline that perfects holiness in your life so you get to a point that nothing bothers you anymore then you don't have a father and you have no discipline and it's impossible for you to be holy unless you have a father that will discipline you he's trying to perfect holiness in your life let's stand together [Music] submit yourself therefore to god resist the devil and he will flee submit yourself to god he's the father of your spirit and he disciplines you perfecting holiness perfecting his holiness in you submit to the will of god submit to his word submit to his authority submit to his discipline as a father submit to those he's placed over you resist evil resisting evil is based on holy submission you have to be holy submitted to god and that will work holiness in your life so don't be too critical of people who are just beginning their walk with god you have to first of all teach them don't eat that bug don't eat that creepy calling thing over there don't be plowing your field with a donkey and a calf don't be planting your peppers and your tomatoes at the same place you know separate them because i have separated you and made you distinctive among all the peoples of the earth lift your hands and love god while your pastor comes appreciate and value the fact he has made you holy [Music] come on lift your hands and talk to god for a moment god i want to be like you i want to be in your image i'm going to be made in your likeness lord i don't want to be like the world i don't want to be like like the other things around i want to be like you i'm determined in my mind i want to follow you i want to be made in your likeness i want holiness unto the lord in my mind i want it in my heart god i want to be pleasing to you in all that i do god i want to be a part of this covenant relationship with you god i give you praise god let this truth go deeply into our spirit let this truth go deeply into our heart let us desire to be pure like you and holy like you god led us to desire to be holy like you lord this world every day is getting more and more off the rail more and more out of control lord this world is not a world that is looking for holiness but in this group in this church in this body we are longing for you we are desiring for you we want holiness unto the lord to be on our minds god we want the the impact of the cross to be in our minds god we want to be made like into your image for your purpose for your glory god we give you praise we give you honor we give you glory hallelujah come on put your hands together and give god praise for his word and his work thank you bishop he's doing his best to get four messages into two listen to me we like what happened yesterday look me right in the baby blues we like what happened yesterday but it's what we're hearing tonight that will keep us enjoying what we liked yesterday for years to come [Music] you will never make it to holy to heaven unless you love and embrace holiness we serve a holy god we've been filled with the holy ghost we read a holy bible and we're going to go to the holy city it has never been more important than today it's never been more important than today i determined a long time ago that book is what's going to take us to heaven it doesn't change it doesn't it's not going to change because of culture and society i love you dearly but i've said goodbye to people that meant more to me than you do at this point because they walked away from this book i don't plan on ever walking away matter of fact i pray to god lord if i'm not gonna finish well i'd rather tell you what i want you to do i pray this prayer to god get me right and take me home i can handle a funeral i can handle you say well he died at a young age i can't handle not finishing well help us to do that let's ask god one more time before we leave thank you for this wonderful group of people thank you for bishop osborne and him bearing his heart to us today god let us have a passion for holiness god as we leave here to have a a good day tomorrow and meet again tomorrow night god we we pray that this message will go deeper in our spirits in the
