unto us hallelujah celebrate jesus hallelujah [Applause] a team from the u.s has visited us in the morning services they ministered powerfully in almost all the services hallelujah they are led by bishop clifton clark who is a friend and a member of this church hallelujah he's more than a member wherever he is around the world we see him as a father figure for senior members hallelujah and he has always been a blessing to us tonight members of his team are also here to be a blessing to us also hallelujah oh club somebody appreciate jesus hallelujah when i was told they will be coming started thinking and the lord ministered to us i've lost count of how many times ministers from the u.s has come to minister this year alone in the restoration service it's a sign of something hallelujah it's a sign of something and don't take it for granted anytime they pass through the deposit something buy into it by prayer tap into it and grace will rob on you hallelujah and let me just introduce the team members and then i will introduce the servant of god who god has put his word in his mouth to deliver to us hallelujah we have evangelist sanike branford hallelujah we also have evangelists barbara benz we have pastor stephen bricks hallelujah and the seven that the lord has chosen he's also here with his wife uh reverend dr morin reverend dr maureen hallelujah and his son also uh trevor grazel jr trevor griezo jr hallelujah that means that there is a senior so there is an honor also for me to introduce the senior as we give a standing ovation giving honor to whom honor is due the senior is whom the lord has anointed tonight to bring us the word in the next 45 minutes so please help me welcome reverend dr trevor grisel a professor of the new testament at the roberts university in tulsa oklahoma usa and also the senior pastor and the founder of hope international ministries hallelujah with a club offering and a shout to god let's receive daddy reverend dr trevor grezel hallelujah to bring us the word of god with a club offering hallelujah you may take your seat what a joy and privilege it is to of mine to be with you tonight bring your greetings from our church in tulsa oklahoma hope international ministries and you'd be surprised to know we have many ghanaians my associate pastors are ghanaian and we've got a number of canadians in the church so i'm right at home in this church amen i thank god for reverend cato thank you so much the grace that has been shown to us through so many of you ministers and others you've been so gracious and i thank you so much i believe ghanaians are among the most gracious people in the world and i really mean that i can say that because i lived in kumasi for four years as a young missionary and i had a good time in ghana it kind of shaped my life changed my life gave me a sense of purpose and destiny and tonight i say i thank god for ghana and everywhere i go promote ghana it's like a second home to me now i used to speak the language tree quite well i no longer because i left here 49 years ago i've been back a few times so i won't attempt to speak the language i used to read the scriptures very well in the language also this morning i spoke somewhere and i did introduce myself and my message in the language and they all but i won't attempt that tonight okay i'll spare you that i thank god for pastor mensah reverend founder of this church a man of god there i say i tremendously admire this man of god he's among few that i really follow with great admiration because he exhibits the spirit of christ he's truly a man of christ a man of god but one who emulates christ so perfectly you would see him and you would say who is this man all this that he has done for god but he's not going around boasting and gloating at what he's only a servant of god i love that you know but we're all only servants no matter who we are and the man of god impresses me tonight before i speak i'd like to introduce my wife with married nearly 24 years now she is the light of my life she is the engine that drives me and we are deeply in love after these many years in fact she is the sister of dr clifton clark and so i'm in good company so please come and say greet the church please would you [Applause] and of course our son trevor junior the second act is julium is the second and he is also a star in our crown very gifted young man in so many ways tremendously gifted in music and he's just bright and brilliant hallelujah i deem it a great privilege to be here tonight and especially when i found out that it was the restoration service restoration service that's where the lord has called me in the area of restoration for daily i work with the broken the depressed the grieving the lost and that's where the lord has called me so when i come to the restoration service i know jesus is here you see we spend our time looking for jesus only on the mountaintop but how many of you know that jesus walks in the valley too he's right there with that child who is crying because they have no parents with that abused person jesus is there if anybody is having a problem finding jesus and seeing jesus maybe your time is spent only on the mountaintop but jesus walks with the child with the lonely with the dejected and the rejected and i can tell you that in this service tonight miracles will happen miracles will happen for you i know a miracle when i see it because when you hear the name trevor grizzle the second you better believe that you're seeing a miracle when the doctor said it will never happen for you you will never have a child god said not so god said not so and you're seeing a living miracle if you are believing for a miracle today look no further jesus is here to meet you at the point of your need so as you're sitting there expect what you're believing for from god you've been crying through the night but god saw you god knows that you're hurting and you're tired and you're exhausting exhausted but he sees and he knows and he will meet you as the man of god preaches tonight receive from god almighty and turn your eyes upon him expect a miracle god bless you thank you for having me god bless [Applause] amen amen i i would have preferred that she preached tonight than myself because she's really hot a fireball like dr uh marzia clark they're from the same cloth okay so tonight i'd like to minister to you from the word of god the the fifth chapter of luke luke chapter five and i'd like to speak to you on the theme deep sea fishing deep sea fishing let's read from luke chapter 5 verses 1 through 11 but you may also in your own time read ezekiel chapter 47 because we have something of the same in the old testament that we have here in the new testament where god launches you out farther and farther until abundance comes when there was drought where there was only barrenness bountifulness comes forth amen so luke chapter 5 verse 1 i'm reading from the niv the new international version i normally use the new king james version but i don't have one with me but it says one day as jesus was standing by the lake of geneseo the people were crowded around him and listening to the word of god he saw at the water's edge two boats left there by the fishermen who were washing their nets he got into one of the boats the one belonging to simon peter and asked him to put out a little from the shore then he sat down and taught the people from the boat when he had finished speaking he said to simon put out into the deep the king james says launch out into the deep and let down the nets for a catch simon answered master we've worked hard all night and have taken nothing but because you say so i will let down the nets when they're done so they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break so they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them and they came and filled both boats so so full that they began to sink when simon peter saw this he fell at jesus knees and said go away from me lord i am a sinful man for he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken and so were james and john the sons of zebedee simon's partners then jesus said to simon don't be afraid from now on you will fish for people so they pulled their boats up on shore and left everything and followed him shall we pray lord we invite your holy spirit to anoint your servant as he ministers this word tonight accept your anoint no message can go forth that will make any life-changing difference it is your spirit that gives light and life it is your spirit that energizes the word and penetrates each heart so father i depend on you now come fill me fill my mouth fill my mind speak lord to your people let no person leave this place the same as they came let the transforming word of god change lives set captives free this is my prayer in jesus name amen in the greater opera area here you're all familiar with water boats fisheries fishermen and so the message is right on target you understand all about fishing i'm a jamaican we have a mighty ocean or sea close to all around jamaica but i was not privileged to be brought up around water but i had a brother living in jamaica who was not only a great swimmer but he was a great fisherman there was there were those times when he would go out in this canoe with a friend and it would go way out as far as the eye can see and he would come back with all kinds of fish blue marlin blue marlin i don't know whether you know what that fish is it tastes good snapper grouper lobster i mean name it the the big ones you know but my brother never invited me out to go catch fish with them and i was so very happy i was never a good swimmer so i would go to the shoreline this blue or turquoise water i would throw there's a certain reef i would go to throw my hook down i could see those small fish coming different multi-colored fish and would come and bite and i was happy caught a small one put in my sack throw it out again another small one would come happy i felt i was doing well just staying by the shore i would never have caught the big one the big fish because big fish don't swim at the shoreline you've got to go way out deep into the waters to catch the big ones is that right is that right no i don't know doubt you have places here tema and takaradi and even in this great city trawlers that go catching fish men with fish fishing boats they come back with big ones they don't just you know go by the shoreline they go way out tonight i believe there is prophetic and symbolic purpose for this message for many of you because i'm saying what happens in the physical is also true in the spiritual you cannot catch spiritual fish you cannot come up with heavy fish spiritual fish in your life by just puddling in the shoreline now when i was young i would go sometimes with my brother to the beach and i would like to i love to you know dig little trenches for the water to come into these trenches and i would play in the trenches sometimes i'd build sand castles on the beach i would just love to watch the ships go by spectating all the way but god is calling us beyond that friends he's calling out into calling us into this spiritual deep that we may let down our nets for a catch and come up overflowing with fish with bounty with bountifulness with abundance in our spiritual lives there is a shallowness in many christians lives a shallow christianity where people have not gone out far enough to meet god in the deep there are the sure langs and they're quite content to stay there but god is calling us out further and tonight this message perhaps won't reach all of you because all of you won't receive it the way god intends for you to receive it but god peter i mean jesus went to the shore of galilee for one person it was peter there are many of you who are here but perhaps there's only one person that god is speaking to because when god is speaking when god wants to do something significant he doesn't get the whole message to come he asks one person who is willing a person would say yes lord i hear you and i will follow you i'll obey your word and so tonight god is looking for a peter in this place madame peter mr peter god is saying i'm here looking for you are you ready for him to find you now the the story begins with jesus coming to the shore the sea of galilee early morning and there was a crowd waiting for him but jesus wasn't all about the crowd he saw two boats and fishermen who were disappointed discouraged were toiled all night came back empty-handed he knew that there was something wrong here these men were seasoned hands experienced fishermen but they come back from the sea with nothing to show for their effort and jesus said to peter lend me your boat and jesus began to teach them from the boat jesus had his eye on peter all along but something i want to say is that you know peter his wife and the children no doubt were waiting at home for that lunch the kids because we're looking when is daddy coming we are all hungry the wife is saying oh your daddy will fool come here he's bringing the fish home for you to eat so we can have lunch peter must have felt that in his heart and the others also james and john and others discouraged and jesus showed up right at the point of the discouragement at the point of their exhaustion the point of their inadequacy their insufficiency their lack jesus showed up that's the way jesus always shows up friends when we are down and out and we have no hope left he says i am your hope i am your truth i will bring you a new way to go forward and so that's where we are right now peter is very disappointed discouraged in his empty boat jesus is very concerned about peter's empty life a life outside of purpose a life that could be much more jesus had more for peter than peter thought and so jesus would take time to teach peter from the boat now let's look at this verse 2. the regret of unfruitful service so jesus saw at the water's edge two boats left there by the fishermen who were washing their nets they're washing the net saying [Music] the day is over it's all over now we've tried our best we've worked all night caught nothing that itself would bring discouragement to anyone jesus saw them muscles aching bodies weary and only an empty boat and an empty net to mark their effort you know what it means to be unrewarded in your toil you know what it means to have unfruitful labor this is where these disciples were a lot of feelings of despondence in hopelessness rejection and fear no doubt perhaps the disciples felt all these this blast of mixed emotions but jesus shows up and he'll turn their sadness into joy he will turn their darkness into day he will turn their emptiness into fullness jesus was about to make a difference a marked difference in the lives of these men but i said earlier before jesus could do anything for the disciples he'd preach to them the word so he said here in verse 3. so and he asked them to put out a little from the land from sure then he sat down and taught the people from the world from the boat faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of god when you are discouraged when you've got problems that are crowding you and you feel depressed don't quit the church don't say well that doesn't work for me anymore it's by faith that god will change your situation and if god can do it by his word preached word and thought word it will never be done for you you can't find this hope anywhere else you cannot find that hope in a bottle you can't find it in an immoral life you can't find it drinking application yes the word of god will change your situation when you believe and jesus taught them first you must hear the word of god if god can do anything in your life friends that's god god always works through his word to us see so in verse 4 and verse 5 we see the reward of unflinching obedience this in verses 4 and 5 when he had finished speaking he said to simon launch out into the deep and let down the nets for a catch notice how often peter is mentioned jesus no doubt had his eye all along peter jesus is having an eye on you madame peter mr peter jesus has an eye on you he's saying will you obey will you launch out and this word comes to us in our in our situation sometimes as a single mother you're discouraged i want to give up you're saying i'll throw the towel in because it doesn't work my child is going astray i don't have food to eat and you want to give up the word is for you launch out don't give up launch out into the deep perhaps you're working for the church and you don't see the progress you want god is jesus saying launch out don't quit the church launch out into the deep in your own personal life you're saying i feel dry i feel like quitting he says don't quit launch out into the deep and let down your nest for a catch god will do a difference make a difference in your life when you launch out launch out into the deep and let down your net for a catch and notice something that jesus believed in the disciples even when they didn't believe in themselves they had pretty much given up hope but jesus said no it's not over it's not over because i haven't said my peace yet i haven't done my work in you yet it's not over where you are right now it may seem for you seem to you you've come to the very end and the words is to jesus the words to you is you're not at the end i still believe in you that whatever god has called you to do you can do and will do amen amen one of the great things that one of the great things that holds us back is that we like to live in our past the regrets of the past we live with a discouraged heart because we feel that what happened yesterday and the day before yesterday was going to be what was going to happen in the future but the future need not be the same as your past when jesus gets into the situation he will transform your your darkness into daylight friends yes jesus has had greater purposes and promises for peter than he thought ever thought and so don't think it's over don't live in the past what has happened in the past don't think that that's a predictor of what's gonna happen in the future for you it doesn't work that when god's kingdom when jesus comes he breaks the tempter's power he gives you a new future a new future he writes your name anew in something of destiny amen but notice the command to launch out seemed to be very unreasonable these men had worked all night they labored all night their muscles were aching their bodies were wary they were discouraged yet jesus is saying go back out there seems unreasonable it seems unreasonable because these men were seasoned fishermen you could say it's like they were born in a boat on the lake they knew the lake from corner to corner they knew the moods of the sea they knew about everything about the fish they could tell jesus jesus you're a carpenter i'm a fisherman leave me alone but it seems unreasonable what's also unreasonable is that it is now morning light daylight these fish didn't bite in daylight at night yes they came in droves great schools of fish would swim at night but they caught nothing at night how can it be to i'm going to catch something in the daylight when the sunlight will drive the fish away seems impossible but jesus knew all about that he knows all about the obstacles he knows about all the objections but jesus is not asking you to do the impossible he's saying only obey and believe i will do the impossible your task is to obey believe and obey [Applause] now sometimes jesus asks people to do some very impossible things like in matthew 12 13 jesus said to a man with a withered hand stretch forth your hand the man's hand was withered jesus said stretch forth your hand how can i stretch with my hand my hand is all withered bound to my chest the miracle was not in stretching it out it was in the effort and the men believed and began to do this that is the miracle happened the miracle was in the obedience the miracle is in your obedience jesus knows the obstacles but he's saying will you by faith take the leap and believe believe obey me and you see god's miracles right on the wings of obedience that's where god's miracles take place obedience and sometimes we expect that god should just come and do it all for us he's saying i want you to believe and cooperate with me and i'll do it for you i'll do it for you amen another example in john 9 1-7 we have this blind man jesus put clay upon his eyes and said to him go wash in the pool of siloam the man when jesus put clear in his eyes his eyes weren't healed so jesus i'm blind still i can't see how can i go wash but i believe that the man perhaps with a stick kept on doing this can you tell me where the pool of siloam is is over there and he went to the pool of siloam and he came back seeing something happened in the obedience it was in the obedience and so we're saying god is calling you to be an obedient servant believe that he can do what seems impossible the effort in the effort launch out into the deep launch out and i want to say that yes you will never meet god in the shallows if you're just willing to puddle a putter in the sand and the seashore you won't catch big fish spiritually you dabble in the shores of spiritual things it won't happen for you you won't see god work great things in your life and for you and god won't flow through you when you are just dabbling in spiritual things for some of us our faith is only intellectual only intellectual god is an abstract idea we don't know god in reality in an experience that is transforming and transformative we have an idea we have never met him in a way that we can say i met god and my life has not been the same ever since i don't like to use myself as an example of anything but i want to say this while i was in kumasi as a young missionary every afternoon late afternoon about three o'clock i would find my way toward the bush a certain spot i had there were times i would use my stick and i would hit the bush and i would these big snakes but i did this for weeks and months and god showed up in power this is only one example i said he came in such power my whole body was trembling as if electrified my whole body was electrified i felt energy flowing through me it got so much i said god please stop i can't take anymore and i left that place and i would go and preach and teach and god would do things in people's lives i know god not just up here friends i have met him i've experienced his power i know his power in my life and through my life god cannot be found in the shallows god won't do anything for you in the shallows you've got to launch out but you see launching out is risky business because when you when you launch out you're out there at the mercy of the elements but at the same time you have no other help but god you're calling out to god god i need your help help me lord and when you call on god god comes and he does something for you he picks you up and he anoints you and sends you forth and you're a different person it's out in the deep you find god and you meet god friends and you meet god not only in church because we feel is when the pastor or the great prophet comes and he prays for me it happens for me then it doesn't you see what the pastor can do or the prophet can do the apostle can do is like giving your car a jump start you know your car is the battery has gone low and the person with the cables comes and he puts his car battery to your car battery it recharges your battery a jump start you started but after a while you turn the key off the thing dies again you need an alternator a generator that keeps the current flowing keep the battery full all the time that's what god will do for you when you meet him on your own see but something that that baffles me as i read the text is that jesus sends these disciples back into the same waters where they'd failed into the same boat that caught nothing with the same crew that seems crazy at least i would say jesus at least change the crew perhaps they didn't know how to catch fish but you see the problem was not with the sea the problem was not with the boat the problem was that with the crew the problem is that they had not brought jesus into the situation he was not in the boat with them and sometimes we blame others we say the church only if the church were like some other church only if the people were different then my life would be different only if i had different tools to work with it's not the problem is that with the church it's not with the people it's not with what you have to work with it's because jesus isn't vitally involved in the situation he wants to come into the situation and make a vital difference one song said i must have the savior with me for i dare not walk alone i must feel his presence with me and his arms around me throne then my soul shall fear no ill let him lead me where he will i will go without a murmur and his footsteps follow still jesus must be in your life in your situation if he's not there you're doomed to failure you may have some semblance of success at some point but ultimately the boat will not catch anything there's so much i want to say i'm watching the time but notice the unflagging commitment of peter verse 5. simon peter answered master we've worked all night and haven't caught anything but king james says nevertheless nevertheless but because you say so i will let down the nets peter admits jesus we failed we've gotten we've told all night we've got nothing to show for our effort but nevertheless jesus then we we will pay your word of command nevertheless we have failed we've come to the end of our own resources but jesus because he said so we are going to try again try again not give up nevertheless at your word lord at your word lord and peter could say he could have said to jesus jesus i'm older than you i was born in the sea i'm a fisherman experienced seasoned jesus you're only a carpenter you don't know about the sea you've never been on a boat to fish but peter said jesus nevertheless your master your master your lord you are sovereign over situation land and sea i'm believing i'm trusting you master master master at your command i will let down the nets jesus is master of all situations he's the master of all situations no matter what it is if you obey you said nevertheless lord i don't have a hands on this thing i've tried my best i've done all i could jesus but nevertheless i'm gonna take your word up into my hearing into my heart and do exactly what you said nevertheless i let down my nets and he did made a big catch it is easy to give up when you failed easy to give up but what peter was saying jesus i have failed it didn't work out for me but jesus i won't give in to doubt and fear and disappointment i won't give up i won't give out i will believe and go forward at your word master master master lord sovereign one at your command i will go forward i will go forward not backward i'll go forward nevertheless that's your word jesus am knocked down but i'm not knocked out i have failed but i'm not a failure i sometimes feel discouraged but i won't give in and give out or give up i may have lost a battle but i haven't lost the war this resolve a decision make that decision lord i failed but i'm looking into the new future i'm taking a new stand at your word things are going to be different in america this great singer timothy wright unfortunately now dead from a car crash he wrote a song it won't be this way always there'll be a brighter day god is going to wipe all your tears away it won't be this way always sometimes the sun doesn't seem to shine and no one understands but it won't be this way always god is going to drive your tears away there's coming a brighter day weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning and a deceased decision i'm resolved lord i'm not living in the past i'm not going back i believe you that something different is going to happen a change is coming a change is coming it's going to happen a miracle is going to happen although i can't see it i believe it i believe because you said it jesus you said it and i believe it i'll take a stand and go forward so we must seek to possess the result the resolve patience perseverance and obedience like peter in spite of our bitter disappointments in spite of our past failures in spite of our broken dreams our shattered hopes and dashed expectations we must be willing to say nevertheless at your word lord let us give jesus another chance he wants only one chance with you one chance allow him one chance believe and obey one chance will make a big difference now notice the unexpected catch first six when they had done this it means they had launched out into the deep and they've thrown their nets down that they've done this they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break so they signaled verse seven they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink notice something they began with empty boats an empty boat now things have turned towards a sinking boat a boat sinking catch emptiness now nets broken because of the heavy catch that they had which would you prefer an empty net or broken net which would you prefer an empty boat or a sinking boat full of fish because of their obedience and they launched out and let down the net it was so abundant in the catch they could not themselves receive and accept into the boat everything that they had drawn they all hauled up they had to say over there you both come and help us it's too much we got too much going for us the catch is too abundant come help us that's how jesus works oh he always goes for the overflow the overabundance when you believe and you do what jesus says he does something that will transform you and help others there's an overflow into other people's lives and believe me when you go out there it's not for you alone it's too much for you to carry you become a tributary there's an overflow into the other people's lives an abundance is super abundance that you can contain it all for yourself others will be touched and blessed yes but you see you've got to take the step of faith to risk it i failed before but i'm trusting jesus now that he's going to make a difference and friends when you pay the price god comes and what it gives to you what it does into you does for your life and does in your life it is too much for you it flows out out of your belly flows rivers of living water fish galore people come and they eat at your table they want to know how come you're that way how much how come you're so blessed because you've paid the price of obedience and faith and you've gone out into the deep with jesus jesus and you know something that sometimes transformed forever and when you know god this way nobody can take away your faith from you because it's not built on intellectual ascent it's not some belief system i've met the man jesus i've met him he's done something for me he has changed my life once i was blind but now i can see i don't have all the arguments and reasons but i have the experience i have the experience i have so much more to say i'm going to quit quickly wrap things up launch out into the word get into this daily don't just hear a verse quoted and you live on that you'll meet god here in the word it reveals things to you to your life launch out in the area of your witness to others tell them about jesus what jesus has done for you like that woman at the well of samaria in john 4. when jesus had told her everything about her life she said she went left her water parts and ran to the village come see a man who has told me all things is not this the christ don't keep this to yourself and you'll find your life
