this is going to be the longest video i've ever made but we're here this is naruto [Music] for the longest time i didn't have any interest in naruto never disliking it but entirely apathetic to the idea of naruto i see an orange and blue suit blonde hair fights people the much younger version of myself instantly dismissed this as a btech goku and for the longest time growing up that's what i thought of naruso i never gave the character any respect and that was just through first glances visual appearances only knowing nothing about the story not having seen anything just by looking and first impressions i did not give this character any respect it's kind of ironic with what the story is and i'm glad it was that way because i don't think a little kid me really would have appreciated the complexities and the philosophy and the deepness of naruto it does hit hard in a lot of areas and especially now that's why i like it i always got told you need to check out naruto you need to see what it's all about and well i did a while ago but then the english dub wasn't caught up to where i was so i kind of just like all right i'll wait for it to finish uh but then i just bought the manga and i uh i read all 700 chapters and that's where we are right now this may be a surprise to some people but naruto is now the second manga i have read to completion after we all know what number one is experiencing naruto once and now a second time changes everything over the next three hours if you give me your ears give me your time we'll talk about the story so let's begin chapter one naruto uzumaki this is the very brief prologue section of naruto's story it only goes on for a few chapters but it's before the land of waves which is the main first arc before naruto gets to go on any kind of ninja journey he must first become an actual ninja he does this in a very unique and abstract way not many people become ninjas the same way naruto becomes a ninja in the beginning of the story he is stuck in the ninja academy he can't even graduate kindergarten naruto sucks he can't perform a single ninja technique he can't do any jutsu he sucks this would be a good time to talk about the nine tails having the hindsight of the entire series behind you makes naruto a really fun series to reread even going back and talking about it now knowing what i know and knowing what's gonna happen this specific part of the story or really all of part one leaves you with a lot of charm naruto has a demon living inside of him this is kurama he has some of the most chakra slash life force energy in this verse now naruto has the most untapped potential out of anyone but at the same time it's actively tearing him apart and he doesn't even know this nine tails once fully manifested once attacked konoha the village of naruto when he was just a baby the fourth okago risked his life to save the village sealed the fox inside of naruto and now all of the adults from that time look at naruto in absolute disgust except for one or maybe two i guess you could say the third hokage but mainly aruka he sticks with naruto because naruto didn't do anything wrong he was born with his demon inside of him ever since that day when naruto became the 9000 cherokee no one was allowed to speak about it so the only people who knew about naruto and what he really was were the people who were there on that day this makes naruto as a kid completely depressed i mean there's scenes in the anime where he lives in this apartment and is drinking off milk from the age of two it's really sad and that's how naruto grew up knowing all the backstory and knowing where this series is it's a shock to me that naruto remained good when mizuki was unloading the truth onto him he was trying to make naruto go rogue but he didn't naruto chose from the very first chapter the type of character he would be and stay from the very first chapter you have this ultimate decision made by naruto that he does not deviate from and from there that's chapter one that's only chapter one you have this psychological warfare battle in naruto's mind do i leave the village and go rogue for what they did to my body or do i stick with these people and earn their respect and naruto chose the latter and that's who naruto is that is how naruto graduates the academy and becomes again in it's a bit of a different way of attaining that rank but i guess it works and he remains again in for the next 25 years chapter 2 konohameru chapter 2 of naruto is a lot more laid back having become a full-fledged genie naruto gets his photo taken in the ninja yearbook looking very intimidating with his uzumaki spirals the third hokage tells him to retake this photo however and in an interesting piece of dialogue uh hirozin is slightly concerned why naruto wasn't wearing his konoha headband in his ninja photo uh that would show a sign of respect to the hidden leaf so from the start even the third hokage is slightly concerned and worried about naruto going rogue everyone just expects naruto to pull in hitachi or something because he has every reason to but so far naruto is still pretty innocent and he already made the decision it's going to define the rest of his life back in chapter one so going rogue for naruto is already way out of question chapter two though belongs to konohameru bursting through the third hokage's office proclaiming to take him down and usurp his throne konohameru is an even bigger baby than naruto kodohamuru is the grandchild of the living third hokage and so he does get very spoiled everyone shows respect to the sarutobi name and so konohamaru is able to live a very comfortable life he's about three years old he thinks he's really good uh but i kind of like konohamaru man i love the theme that plays when he's around i love how he's the first person to show narcissism to respect it is interesting though because on the other side of it you have naruto who is the son of the fourth hokage however he is still seen by everyone as the reincarnation of the nine tails and the reason that the fourth is dead if events played out slightly differently and naruto's dad was still hokage there's a good chance that naruto would act in the same way konohamery does by the end of this chapter naruto has gained the respect of one person soon to be many more but konohameru is the first person to really get on naruto's side aside from maybe hinata but this is the first non-adult to ever show naruto some actual respect and respect is going to be a big thing moving forward with naruto it drives a lot of his reasoning early on and this second chapter is an all-around display of how he will earn that respect to put it simply there are no shortcuts 3 enter sasuke team 7 is perfect there's absolutely nothing i would change about it naruto's introduction with all of his peers shows that he has just about as much respect from them as the dirt the kids around him are even shocked that he was able to get this headband and make it out of the academy contrast that with sasuke the complete opposite every one of sasuke's classmates admire him they put him on this god-like pedestal of a prodigy guinea the best they've ever seen the last remaining member of the uchiha clan sasuke is at the top of his class while naruto is at the very bottom and this is a great dynamic both naruto and sasuke have lived incredibly challenging lives both mentally and physically draining this has made them both into abnormality freaks and that's where sakura comes in sakura has nothing special about her she is average she's normal and she's a part of team 7 a team filled with tragic backstories depression anger and revenge run through this group more than any other and then you just have sakura who represents the only form of normality in this group it's hilarious sakura proclaims to love sasuke so much but the first thing she says to him is naruto's a complete dork he never had a father or he never had a family to to look out for him knowing that sasuke's clan got wiped out or maybe she didn't know that i'm not i don't know so it's interesting to see sakura's reactions to both naruto and sasuke because she is so normal and there isn't anything that's special about her i do like her as part of team 7 for that reason chapter 4 hatake kakashi while team 7 has had some time to get well acquainted they are all left waiting upon their team leader their sensei their teacher kakashi kakashi has this thing that's always being brought up and it's gonna be a reoccurring feature kakashi is always late whether it's training a team meeting or anything really you'll always hear someone complain about kakashi not being on time and that flew over my head throughout the entire story not once did i stop and think to myself why i wonder why kakashi is always so late i never thought about it because maybe he's just that guy i didn't think too deep into it but as we go further on that is a really well thought out feature that's a part of the story kokashi is the first elite level ninja of the series a jonine this is meant to show us what we can expect from mid to end game characters in terms of power and for right now serps is a great wall for team 7 to try and surpass kakashi sits them all down and you get to see more of all of their character in its purest form naruto wants to be the hokage to gain respect of the village very simple very clear sasuke wants to kill his own brother for murdering the uchiha clan very simple very clear sakura likes sasuke and hates naruto beyond simple and beyond clear soon these three very simple ideologies will evolve and become more ambitious as the story moves forward for now this is team 7 in its purest form chapter 5 to 33 the land of waves kokashi takes his team out for their real first piece of team seven ninja training this is a really fun moment to look back on naruto charges in first only to be hit with the 1 000 years of death sasuke patiently waits in the background for his perfect time to strike and sakura gets hit with the first genjutsu of the series this training sequence eventually leads up into one of the ultimate lessons in naruto in the shinobi world those who violate the rules and fail to follow protocol are low however those who do not stand by their own comrades are even lower than that obito uchiha kakashi holds their first training lessons by a memorial site where many of his own comrades have died in battle knowing into the future of this story kokashi really was the perfect fit to lead team seven there's a lot to say about kakashi but at the end of part one he does get his own origin story kakashi gaiden i'll probably talk more about it then for a while team seven is stuck on d-rank cat rescue missions for old ladies not really the path of ninja naruto is expecting not too long after this the ninja ranking guide gets brought out to us and this is very helpful so straight away the hierarchy is instantly defined we know where naruto stands we know where team 7 stands we know where kakashi stands and the world is slowly expanding and it's only going to keep on getting bigger from here after quite a bit of complaining from naruto the third hokage gives in and finally lets the reincarnations of indra and ashrae go on an actual ninja mission team 7's first mission is to escort a bridge builder back to his home country in the land of waves now this is thought to be a tough mission but manageable with kakashi there are no ninja in the land of waves there should just be a straight escort in and out however this bridge builder is holding out quite a lot of information some time goes by and team 7 gets attacked by some missed village ninja this mission should never have been given to gennyd he has a bounty set on him by some corrupt billionaire rich guy who doesn't want the land of waves bridge to be built so he hires some ninja from the hidden mist and that's why we see team seven get to show what they can do in a real life or death situation along the way kakashi pulls out this map these are the five great ninja villagers as they will be important later it's good to remember this straight away just by looking at this map this builds up the world even more i will say though with hindsight most of the cool stuff still comes out of the hidden leaf in the first showing of skills sasuke dominates the experience of having an older brother or a father or nurturing around you growing up even if only for a little bit longer than naruto has made sasuke's early game a lot more impressive than naruto's from the bat all naruto can do is just try to keep up he stabs himself in the hand to cure the poison and he just swears to do better next time this arc's main two characters are focused around the demon of the mist zabooza mamochi and haku both from the hidden mist village which is one of the most dangerous villages the hidden mists academy graduation exam makes the hidden leafs look absolutely pathetic instead of just making a few clones to graduate out of the cadets zabuza had to fight to the death against his fellow peers just to be able to call himself a shinobi imagine if something like that took place in the hidden leaf who would be the one survivor neji regardless zabuza let himself be hired as an assassin and his job is to take down the bridge builder however since kikashi's there they're both jony and kokashi is a little bit stronger than zarbaza so he can hold him off fairly well but a lot happens in this fight it's the first appearance of the sharon gun naruto actually doing something good which to be fair is going to start becoming a regular thing this whole fight sets the pretense of how high level fights are gonna go down this series is by no means a who can punch harder contest this is ten thousand percent tactics only even up until the end of the first encounter haku shows up and makes a tactical retreat this is such a deviation from what i'm used to i i kind of actually have to pay attention to these fights now once they eventually make it into the heart of the land of waves kiakashi teaches a little bit about chakra control but for him using his sharon gun has made him bedridden for days i'm just gonna say it's a good thing that did not become a regular thing to think every time kakashi had to use his sharing gun he must then be instantly hospitalized that would get really annoying and it would make it a borderline useless thing for him to even have i'm glad that this isn't an every time recurrence even though he is weakened kokashi is still able to teach his squad about chakra manipulation how to use it how to master it and how naruto and sasuke have such a huge untapped reserves of chakra constantly planting seeds of how powerful these guys can really get the climbing trees training was a nice starter lesson this will eventually develop into a more grand level of training but these are the basics and right here we see naruto and sasuke work themselves all day and night to be able to get the hang of this sakura gets it straight away but naruto and sasuke don't and you see them they work together on this they do it all day all night and at the end of it they're at the top of the tree and they come back home to the house and uh it's one of those things where you know when you're reading it for the first time you should really appreciate those moments because i think that's one of the only times that naruto and sasuke actually get along [Music] in just a few days with that tree technique they have developed and are a lot stronger than the versions themselves that we saw in the beginning of this arc ready for the rematch with zabuza and haku you can just see how much sasuke has grown haku though is ridiculously strong this ice mirror technique allows him to instantly travel between panels it's one of the first usages of a kk genkai a family trait like a family ability if you don't count the sharon gun basically the idea that only one family can have access to one certain type of move eventually sasuke ends up risking it all to save naruto why did he do this i to this day i don't know even sasuke doesn't know he says his legs just started moving on his own maybe there was something in sasuke that actually secretly liked naruto when sasuke does this though and naruto thinks that he is actually dying he will never forget this moment kind of like what aruka did in chapter one from this moment onwards sasuke has cemented himself in naruto's mind as his friend naruto will never forget this ever his reaction to sasuke's temporary death brings out a small amount of the nine tails power kakashi looks over at this and freaks out a little bit he thinks the seal that's on naruto's belly is about to break but we're not quite at those levels yet naruto is still in control here he's just extremely angry that he watched someone that he perceived to be his friend now die right in front of him when naruto gets angry here it's all over for haku one punch is all he needs and haku instantly gives up this next part goes deep as shinobi you only have one reason to live the way of a shinobi is to be used as a tool in this world no emotions haku doesn't even care about their own life he is about to die and is literally asking naruto to take it because he perceives himself now to be a broken tool useless if you fail at your life's purpose what reason do you have for living and because haku got one shot he has failed at life and therefore refuses to live just as naruto is about to take haku's life haku notices that he can actually do one last thing all this time there was another battle going on kakashi was fighting zabuza and was about to finish him off however instead of killing zabuza haku jumps in front of the attack and dies in the old shinobi way kakashi seems desensitised to this but naruto looks at what haku just did in complete shock the interaction that follows with naruto and zubuza just reconfirms that everything haku said was true and it's becoming very clear that naruto does not agree with the current shinobi way and it just so happens that a lot of other people agree with him as well even zabuza himself in the end both haku and zabuza die on what is now known as the great naruto bridge this sets a mindset for naruto moving forward he has no choice but to be a shinobi from birth he's been forced into it but if he's going to be a shinobi he will set out and forge his own way of doing things not to be used by the greater ninja society he will come up with his own way a better way and with that concludes the first arc of naruto the land of waves this really was a great way to open up the world of naruto i mean i love hindsight because to be honest going through this the first time it wasn't as good as coming back to it the second time that's just the way naruto is i think though going through naruto the first time is good but going back through naruto i feel like is even better and that's exactly how i feel about this arc knowing all the themes of what's to come and what this series is really all about this is a great first arc of the story and i'm happy to say that it gets better from here chapters 34 to 115 the tuning exams this is the part of naruto when i was like okay this is pretty good i'm hooked i'm in for the long run and even all the way up to the end i'm still gonna say that the tuning exams is probably my favorite out of all of naruto just because of how much it opens up the cast we get introduced to so many of the other hidden leaf getting the sand ninja real competition in stakes this arc has everything that you'd really want and that's why even though there are parts of naruto later on that i like a lot more than this overall as a collection of stories this is my favorite because it it hooks me coming back from the length of waves naruto and sasuke have this now weird rivalry because sasuke has to acknowledge what naruto did on the bridge but at the same time he's still sasuke and it's still naruto the story has briefly glanced over tunings before in the uh third hokage ranking guide it portrayed a tuning as one level above again in which is where naruto sasuke and team seven are at right now so already they are looking to take the tuning exams to become tuning it hasn't taken very long but kokashi has faith in them to do decently well uh there is a bit of standoffish with aruka as he is a tuning and he knew these guys back in the academy and he says there's no way they could become tuning so quickly but sasuke's brother was hitachi who was part of the ambu at age 2 or something very very young naruto is the hokage's son the only one i could maybe get behind this being a little bit too early for would be sakura because again she doesn't really do anything but as she is a part of team seven she has to tag along anyway the first real sign of tension in this arc is when the sand village ninja shot for the first time now when these guys first show up it is intimidating you have this puppet master guy gaara it's kind of a shame what happens to the sand village later on i mean these three are the only strong people in the sand village it seems like the sand village outside of gara and tamari and maybe one certain nikatsuki member has no one cool at least that's currently living in the modern naruto era but when they first get introduced they are very intimidating especially gara i mean he acts as a complete foil to naruto as he is also a jin cherokee he has the one tails inside of him but he just feels like he has a lot more power than naruto gara is one of the big players in this arc and we'll get to him eventually but his introduction's great uh his foil to naruto is also great the rest of the sandvillage though is a little bit underwhelming although gara makes up for it on the way to the tuning exams naruto sakura and sasuke run into other leaf village ninja this is rock lee nedji and someone else in part one these guys rule outside of actual team seven these guys the next best whenever they're on screen or on the scene it's always a fun time rockley and edgy they're great similar to team seven nedji is proclaimed to be like a genius he's kind of like sasuke of team seven a genius fighter of the huge clan he is from his introduction probably the best genie then you have rock lee who is similar to naruto i'm not going to say that holds up for very long outside of part one but in part one yeah you could kind of argue that rockley and naruto have a lot of similarities they both work hard they are both underdogs although rock lee has no ninjutsu he can't use any of those ninja techniques that naruto can even use he has essentially only taijutsu which is physical melee combat it cements him as an actual underdog even more so than naruto rock lee is the biggest underdog in the series unlike naruto this guy rock lee does not have a reason to be a ninja he doesn't have a demon fox inside of him that's going to have the yakovsky coming after him in a few years he could really just live a normal life and not be a ninja he's not forced into it he just kind of wants to be because he just wants to prove that he can do it even someone who has no ninjutsu can become a splendid ninja and that's rockley's entire purpose and that's why i think he resonates with so many people his initial fight with sasuke puts him on his back but this opens up the door of how powerful sasuke can really get rockley uses a move that sasuke has never seen before in his life sasuke the prodigy ghenin cannot do a single thing against the hard-working tenacious rock lee and well that's about the only time sasuke's gonna let himself be surpassed because when he starts seeing certain techniques and moves that rockley does his sharing gun is able to copy it and he's able to learn things a lot faster so this beat down that rock league gives him makes sasuke in the long term a lot more powerful we also get introduced to might guy at the end of this fight and i i mean his rival with kikashi is great i think their rivalry is honestly on par with naruto and south case it's really good the tuning exams is about to start with a written test and i love this because this test doesn't just get glanced over in a single chapter when we just see how dumb naruto is it isn't played off as a gag it's a real ninja test they make the questions for this test extremely difficult i mean i was looking at some of the questions what is the piagram theorem of the angle of the ninja kunai at this angle and which direction would you have to throw it's some really you know to expect a little genie to get this you know it's almost impossible so it actually becomes a ninja test and they have to cheat basically they have to cheat and they have to find ways to cheat without being caught like real ninja be stealthy naruto though doesn't figure this out i mean everybody else does sasuke uses sharingan sakura just apparently knows all the answers to the questions but naruto doesn't answer a single question and he has the balls to not answer a single question and still pass basically this was just a test of do you have the grit they're faced with some very hard decisions to make and naruto just does not back down from it and that's how he passes the first tuning exam test definitely holding strong to the promise in the last arc of forging your own ninja way and now they move on to the second part of the exams the forest of death introducing the first big bad of the series orochimaru this guy is a snake and he's stolen the face of some other ninja just to enter the tuning exams to give a curse mark to our favorite prodigy genin sasuke in the forest of death they have to find another scroll and make it to the end to move on to the part three of the exams this does end up being more of a orochimaru grand entrance than anything else that's how i remember this part of the story sasuke gets given a curse mark because hiroshima wants his uchiha blood he wants to become sasuke the forest of death is a messed up place people die in here going back to the sand ninja gara kills people in here and finishes the test in about 20 seconds he's the fastest dude to ever go through this test everyone's shocked by this they're looking at gara like how did this guy do it without a scratch on him he did it so quickly as well it really builds up the sand village and gara himself is this whoa if this guy's part of the exams you do not want to be messing with him already he does feel like the final boss of this whole arc but a lot happens with team seven in the forest of death of course sasuke gets the curse mark which is a massive thing moving forward into the story but aside from that sakura goes through a bit of a design change she cuts off her own hair it's kind of cool i guess so it means she's no longer really 100 sasuke only focused she now has a bit of her own goals which is cool naruto and sasuke are knocked out for quite a while and it forbids them from actually getting another scroll to move on to the next stage they leave it down to the last few moments and i want to quickly talk about kabuto i'm going to be honest kabuto is one of my least favorite characters in all of naruto i just do not find him interesting i don't like him every time he's on screen it's just kind of like oh my god i can't wait for this guy to leave i do not like kabuto i get his character i get that he likes rochimaru i get that he loves him so much i just don't find it interesting but this is his first introduction where he's catfishing everybody pretending to be a leaf ninja but we all know this guy doesn't even have his own identity i mean when rochimaru dies this guy just becomes a complete clone i'm really not a kabuto fan but to get through to the final stage of the exams kabuto does help them out and naruto sasuke and sakura all make it to the final stage of the exam and this part of the arc goes so hard one-on-one tournaments pre-selected fights simple to understand i love stuff like that it's really easy to just not get sidetracked with anything else and just focus on these fights and that's what we have here in part three of the exam sasuke versus one of hiroshima's goons he uses the rock lee technique and absolutely destroys him after sasuke's fight it's a guy called shino aburame is taking on another one of the sound ninja shino doesn't get that much screen time however whenever he's fighting somebody he always manages to hold his own somehow he is a bug only user it's a unique part of his style and that serves as a pretty cool introduction to another hidden leaf genie one of the most important fights here is our main character naruto vs kiba kiba is without a doubt the yamcha of naruto i'm convinced he starts off pretty cool but by the end of it he's not very strong and he wants to be hokage so he's taunting naruto at first because as far as he knows naruto is still a complete loser who can't do any jutsu he thinks he is going up against someone who is so useless so incompetent that it's going to be easy for him this was naruto's chance to show people that he is not as useless and pathetic as people thought naruto has actually got some skill here and he outsmarts kiba someone who was actually raised to be a ninja naruto fight in his face and with his 1000x nose amplifiers it defeats kiba and naruto secures a pretty iconic win also another pretty cool fight is neji versus i didn't like hinata at first because i was watching the english dub and she her voice just sounded way too anime for me neji and hinata have the exact same eyes they are from the same hookah clan neji was born into a branch of the family that wasn't the main branch it was the branch that is supposed to protect the branch that hinata was born into so instead of protecting hinata in this match neji is beating her down going against his fate that he was born into which will be a contradiction that gets brought up later that ultimately leads to his defeat it's a brutal fight nedji obviously wins but naruto gets real mad at this and he swears to negi that he will make him pay the last fight in this portion that i'm going to talk about is rock lee vs gara and i mean how could you not this is probably the best part of the series so far maybe the best fight of all part one rock lee the ninjutsu loser going up against the main antagonist of this arc gara this fight goes hard rockley takes off his weights and starts moving around at the speed of light it seems he's actually able to hit gara and then he starts to open the eight gates which amplifies power even more rock lee instantly becomes one of the strongest people here having said all that though when hyping up broccoli maybe a bit too much uh the winner of this fight is gara and that serves as a crucial purpose rockley could not have won this fight rockley's character serves to show that anyone can become a good shinobi if they train hard enough that's rockley's whole purpose purpose is a little bit more deep and serbs is more of a benefit to sasuke that garu wins if rockley wins that means sasuke is paired up against him in the final fight and that would change up the entire series to where sasuke would easily win that and he may not feel a need to get stronger and seek out strength from orochimaru that he does do later on with gara there sasuke realizes that the only way that he could possibly get any stronger is to seek that solitude abandon all friendships and seek out that power from orochimaru it is really messed up though garage completely destroys and cripples rock lee to where they don't think he'll ever be able to walk or be a ninja ever again gara puts rockley in his place so hard that after this moment i think rock lee for as popular and his coolest character he is he doesn't really get a moment after this ever again he fights kimi maru for a little bit later on but he doesn't win and in part two i mean yeah he doesn't really do anything there either this was rockley's moment and he is a tragic character because it also shows no matter how hard you work there will always be someone naturally stronger and that's what gar is to rock lee so the tuning exams for now take a hiatus and we have our finalists the people who won their brackets now get to fight on the main stage for the title of tuning for now though they do get time to prepare for this and secretly going on in the background is an undercover disguise a plot to destroy the hidden leaf during this time of preparation for naruto he gets introduced to his greatest ever teacher of the series jariah also known as the pervy sage seeing this for the first time felt really almost contrived almost like how does this guy just randomly hear is in his hot springs and found naruto but of course hindsight if reading it back again yeah dryer was always going to train naruto he was always destined to train naruto and this is their first encounter and coming back it really is nice to see the initial training that dryer does to naruto the first thing he does is teach him how to get proper chakra control because climbing trees was the first step now you have to be able to walk on water and naruto has a bit of a hard time with this but juraj straight away sees the problem here he unlocks a bit of the seal that's holding in some of karama's power and it unlocks naruto's abilities and once he's able to stabilize this chakra he's able to do this instantly jarya even says something along the lines of to think that he was even able to do anything with this kind of restriction on him is incredible again boosting up our own confidence in what naruto can really do he's slowly becoming one of the better genning the biggest thing dry teaches him is the summoning jutsu and gamma bunta this giant toad uh naruto would never be able to summon this with his own chakra especially when he's a kid but tapping into the night's house he can summon kambabunta who is this one of the strongest guys later on you see him take the form of the nine tails and fight shukaku a tailed beast this is overpowered as hell for early game naruto unfortunately though this isn't going to have much of a usage in the tuning exam itself but outside of that this is a game changer it literally puts him on the level of gara at the end of this a little while before the finals of the tuning exams begin naruto and shikamaru are met with a bloodlusted gara standing beside a hospitalized rock lee at his bedroom about to kill him this is the first time naruto's really confronted with gara and it's like him looking into a mirror gara is the perfect foil for naruto he's a shinjuki he was raised alone everyone hated gara everyone still hates gara at this current time sagara's whole mentality is i'm just gonna kill everybody to preserve my own peace although naruto is terrified of gara at this moment his real power will triumph over him much harder much later but for now naruto is just absolutely terrified of this guy that he would just kill anyone it scares naruto he thinks damn he's just like me at this current moment naruto is paralyzed by gara not as much as rocklee though the finals of the tuning exams are about to begin and sasuke versus gara should be up first but sasuke is late kikashi took him under his wing and that's that theme again kikashi always being late but uh it's for a different reason this time kikashi took sasuke under his wing because he sees so much of himself in sasuke he decided to train him personally and leave jaraya to naruto so we get stuck into naruto vs neji straight away the ultimate genien vs the dance naruto was able to win this fight through one the use of the nine tails and two through the contradiction in neji's own philosophy uh it's kind of stupid how naruto wins i'm not gonna lie he punches an edgy once and that takes down like this ultimate genie this is this is supposed to be the guy right nedjie is supposed to be the guy of the hidden leaf and narada takes him down with a single punch i think naruto did philosophically destroy neji uh based on his own contradictions maybe not in actuality but in this instance when neju was talking about your fate you're destined to be a loser you're destined to be a winner stuff like that and then naruto basically says well aren't you destined to look after hinata but you were beating her down to the point of death so you're actively trying to go against your own fate and then nedji was like oh wait a second you're right and then naruto just basically wins that way and so thematically i can see that's what led naruto to win but i just wish that it was a little bit more than one punch excluding this one specific fight and negi's hypocrisy uh he does have a point with what he's saying you know look what happened to rock lee look what eventually goes on to happen to naruto the child of prophecy nedji has some very valid points but the fact that naruto was able to take him down now cements him as the top genie this win over negi earns him a lot of respect within the hidden leaf and slowly but surely naruto's climbing up the ranks next up to fight is shikamaru vs tamari and it says a lot about naruto's side characters that its side fights are just as engaging as its main fights i was just as engaged watching shikamaru's techniques as i was with the main character naruto this is the fight that makes you realize that shigemaru might not even be a side character this dude may actually be one of the mains although he does lose he is the only one out of this crop of ghanian to rank up to chunid and now it is time for sasuke vs gara this has long been anticipated by everyone in the crowd wanting to see the last of the uchiha clan and see how powerful they are sasuke has powered up so much here where you don't really get it the last fight that you see gara in was with rockley and for the main portion of that fight rockley was knocking gara around incredibly well but when rock lee was punching gara he wasn't actually inflicting that much damage when sasuke punches gara he connects and he sustains damage gara bleeds and once gara starts bleeding that's when the tuning exams abruptly ends and we move into the next arc konahar crush chapters 116-138 konoha crush orochimaru has disguised himself as the kazokage and now plans to end the life of his former teacher the third hokage while at the same time taking down the hidden leaf it's always a bit of a let down when what you think is going to be this really cool tournament arc doesn't actually get complete and you have this pondering feeling in your head and you have to do the kind of the calculations on your own and you have to do the match ups so who would actually end up winning if this didn't get complete uh was sasuke b gara uh probably not segarra would go through naruto went through so naruto verskara oh that's a good fight maybe gara wins that in the tuning exams but outside the two exams narrator wins that uh so maybe gara wins the whole thing who knows since the tournament doesn't get completed we will never know from here the tuning exams are over and it is now every shinobi in the hidden leaf defending their village orochimaru is going after his main target the third and brings back to life with a forbidden jutsu hashirama and tobirama hirozin has to fight against his former student and two of his deceased mentors who just so happen to be some of the strongest shinobi who have ever lived in the end he takes the previous hokage's teachings and gives his own life to protect the village the outcome of this fight is a dead hokage and an extremely nerfed armless orochimaru meanwhile the saiyan ninja flee the scene out of the tuning exams but are closely followed by shino and sasuke shino gets his fighting with conqueror however sasuke believes that he has unfinished business with gara this is one of the many fights coming up in sasuke's future that make him understand how weak he really is in the grand scheme looking into the eyes of a possessed gara sasuke's moment to prove his own strength is right now and chidori after chidori it's just not enough this was his first moment of realization that he did not harbor enough hatred playing around in the hidden leaf has not made him strong enough against an opponent who has let his own hatred consume him this is the beginning of sasuke's realization of course the only person who can matching chiroky is another jinshiroki naruto is able to defeat gara because he understands him on a deep level and it's with that understanding that he realizes gaara just needs a friend that's to oversimplify it by a bit but that's the reality of what it comes down to naruto fundamentally understood gara and it's with that that he knows that although gara pretends to not want any friends and harbors all this hatred that's not what he actually wants garo for the first time his life just wants to be loved unlike sasuke who was conflicted on why he was even fighting gara naruto was not he had a single-minded focus and in the end defeats gara concluding konoha crush this arc is heavily linked in with the tuning exams and throughout it you can really start to see where the series is going of course i didn't get this all in the first read-through coming back to it now obviously helps but you're starting to notice a trend with naruso whoever usually is the one to win a fight is the one with the more stable cognition the one who points out contradictions in their opponent naruto already has won two big fights like that neji and angara although naruto is competent enough in his strength that's not the main focus his ability to find holes in his opponent's reasoning is why he wins so many fights going forward that's going to be an even bigger thing yeah strength is important but as you can see with gara he had all the strength in the world but he was completely unstable and it ultimately led to naruto to pick him apart mentally and pretty much talk him into being a good guy same thing with neji neji becomes really cool after the fight with naruto naruto has grown so much just with the smallest amount of help naruto has closed that gap on sasuke and right now you'd have to say naruto is more impressive than sasuke and sasuke is definitely feeling this he still has his own goals that he wants to achieve and at this current moment he's losing to naruto someone that he didn't even have to think to be stronger than ever so slowly we are moving forward in character development with both naruto and sasuke naruto is becoming a lot more confident and sasuke is becoming a lot more angry and that is going to lead us beautifully into the next story [Music] chapters 139-171 search for tsunade ironically enough tsunade is not the most interesting part of this next story the new arc opens up with two very ominous looking figures this is atachi and kisame members of the akatsuki the akatsuki is going to be a very prominent group of people who go around collecting tailed beasts the reason hitachi and kisame are here in the village of konoha is because they are specifically after naruto but we'll get to that a little bit later for now the main focus is finding a fifth hokage the fourth okay has been dead the third hokage is dead we need to find a new hokage and that's what this main story is about the search for tsunade uh before tsunada though jiraya was actually pointed out to be the fifth hokage by these kona heart elders uh but he denies it he says no i don't want to be hokage i don't need that kind of paperwork in my life so he suggests tsunade and they're thinking tsunade that's not a name i've seen in a very long time and that's when the search for tsunade begins before that though there is a scene that i love it's in chapter 140 and kisame and itachi are just casually sitting down at this restaurant with kakashi literally a meter away from them itachi being sasuke's brother does not want sasuke to see him but sasuke shows up by himself and comes within meters of hitachi but in an instant they disappear and you ought to think did kokashi do that on purpose the next few chapters have him confronting hitachi directly so it was almost like he knew hitachi was there and he was just waiting for sasuke to show up just so a touch she could see his little brother again i don't know if that was planned but that's building up some pretty nice tension between sasuke and hitachi chapter 141 fully reveals atachi uchiha this is one of the big moments in part one itachi is a big game player in this series and asuma and kurunai try to take him on now naturally everyone in the hidden leaf hates hitachi because they perceive him to be this evil guy who killed his clan everyone should know the truth about atachu by now that's another reason why i say going back through naruto a second time it makes things a lot better all of the subtle clues that hitachi doesn't actually want to hurt anybody that he doesn't have to he doesn't want to cause a scene either and later on you'll find that he doesn't even really want to take nine tails out of naruto what makes hitachi so powerful here are his genjutsu abilities he puts kokashi in a suga yomi this is a dreamlike state where he can do whatever he wants to him and for the next 72 hours in kakashi's mind he will be stabbed over and over and over again but in real time it's only been a few seconds eventually my guy comes in and bows them out it gives hitachi a good excuse to leave and not start a war and they dip the next time we see hitachi is when he's knocking on naruto's door and looking him face to face this really is something to look back on any other rokatsuki member would not have knocked on naruto's door so politely and just opened it anyone else would have grabbed naruto by the neck and dragged his body back to wherever they did that separation thing hitachi is casually knocking on naruto's door and naruto thinks that this is sasuke for a brief second but then he says no this sharingan's way too powerful to be sasuke it's a touchy think of the other akatsuki members for a second what do you think kakuzu would have done what do you think daedra would have done what do you think payne would have done all of these guys have just ripped him out of the room straight away even kisame is like hitachi bro it would just be easier if we cut his head off i got a sword right here and is about to do it but sasuke called the whereabouts of this confrontation and he did not want to miss this this is the first time sasuke is seeing his older brother in a very long time this next confrontation here is very crucial for sasuke it is following along from his previous failure against gara sasuke still doesn't fully realize how outmatched he is and so he recklessly charges in against his older brother and has nowhere near enough power to defeat him if that alone wasn't enough to demoralize sasuke he finds out that hitachi is only there to speak to naruto and now that's the second time this has happened the second time naruto has in a way outshone sasuke first against gara and now his evil older brother hitachi is more interested in the power of naruto there's not much wiggle room now for sasuke the smallest thing could tip him in either direction jarya shows up and bows naruto and sasuke out of this one instance for some reason atacha uses this as an excuse for an escape not wanting to fight one of the three sanine i think if he really wanted to him and kisame could have taken down jarya but again itachi is deceptively a very good man and so of course he uses this as an excuse to retreat for now though sasuke has just suffered even more emotional damage and is barely hanging on it's starting to weigh on him that concludes what i think is the most interesting part of the story arc but we haven't even gotten into finding the fifth hokage yet it tells its own little story arc of tsunade rejecting the position of hokage but then she sees naruto who is so ambitious to become the hokage and it reminds her of her dead boyfriend and dead brother then eventually she comes around to it but what i do like most about this tsunade section of the story is we do get introduced to the threesanin jiraya tsunade and rochimaru were all a part of the same three-man cell and these three sanine are very important because eventually what happens is naruto emulates shiraya sakura emulates a lot of tsunade and sasuke represents a lot of rochimaru during their travels to find tsunade dry teaches naruto the resengan this is a very high level jutsu that naruto works to attain it takes him a while but he gets it and from now on the resengan is going to be naruto's almost signature move aside from the shadow clones this is going to be one of his most powerful jutsu because for the first time in his life he has someone who is actively one-on-one mentoring him and he has never had that before someone who shows genuine care about him it's uh there's this scene where naruto's like oh jaraya you're leaving for the day i really wanted to spend time with you naruto's never had that one-on-one mentoring before he's never had that his entire life and the second that someone shows an interest in naruto look at how quickly he develops for the first decade of naruto's life he had to deal with everyone hating him no one wanting anything to do with him and he just had to deal with it he had to put up with it the fact that he didn't you know jump off a bridge now it's very cool to see that the second someone shows interest in him he develops at such a rapid rate as he should he does have the genes for it he's got hokage dna in him he is getting there and once again arc after rock naruto becomes more and more stoic he has so much willpower to work hard at this stuff because he just saw hitachi and kasami try to rip the nine tails out of him and sever his head to some extent now he knows how serious this is gonna be and as he does follow his ninja way he will never go back on his word one thing that does happen in this arc unfortunately is kabutsu kabuto appears a lot in this and basically he's just a rochi maru's ultimate goon he's doing everything for hirochimaru he's negotiating he's bidding he's fighting one of the best moments here is when kabuto underestimates naruto exactly in the same way as everyone before him but naruto just takes a knife straight through the hand and then hits him with a rescend gun that almost kills him anytime someone beats up kabuto they instantly win me over and naruto already did kind of win me over but man he's really making me like him more and more as the story goes by tsunade is seeing naruto's resolve and his will to never give up and how much he puts into everything it convinces her that becoming hokage isn't the right thing to do she gives naruto a big kiss on the head and then goes back to konahar to officially become the fifth hokage and that concludes the search for tsunade a big theme throughout the last two arcs has been sasuke's humbling he's been humbled against gara and he just got humbled against hitachi sasuke is now in the hospital sitting there thinking about how weak he is and how he could do nothing against hitachi this is now going to be the main focus all the way up until the part one of naruto ends so far it has been hinted towards quite a bit that sasuke has to do something and the curse mark that orochimaru put on him in the forest of death is still very much there it hasn't gone away and so now we move into the arc that is probably on par with the tuning exams as far as how good it is chapters 172 to 238 sasuke retrieval for a while now sasuke has been feeling conflicted he is currently sitting in his hospital bed realizing that he severely lacks the amount of power needed to fulfill his goal he wanted to be a good guy but so far that's made him not get any stronger it's made him sit back and just watch the likes of naruto surpass him so right now as he's sitting in his hospital bed sasuke is conflicted between naruto's ideals the ideals of the village and strong bonds between comrades and his desire to only get stronger there is a big change in sasuke's domino because even when sakura offers him some kind of fruit he just smacks it out of her hand and sasuke was never really the type to show sakura much respect anyway but i mean this just takes it to a whole other level he wants to see naruto and so when naruto shows up he challenges him directly on the rooftop of this hospital to a one-on-one showdown and naruto accepts and they fight even within this rooftop fight you can see the clear differences now between naruto and sasuke sasuke is fighting without his kona headband and naruto insists that he has to wear it and that just makes sasuke even more angry this fight eventually ends up being broken up by kakashi but not before sasuke and naruto charged each other directly with a rescend gun and a chidori something that heavily foreshadows the end of this arc and what's interesting is if this connected at this current moment on the rooftop naruto would have won just because he wasn't as emotionally all over the place as sasuke but by the end sasuke narrows in his focus a lot more and it is now naruto who is the one who doesn't want to confront the reality of why sasuke left the village kakashi says that sasuke was actively trying to kill naruto in this fight and well maybe he was but when sasuke realizes that naruto's resengan was actually stronger than his chidori that is what i would consider to be his last straw from there he gets confirmation that naruto is stronger than him itachi was right and so now sasuke is leaning more towards the side of he only wants to get stronger he needs to get stronger no matter what and so when hiroshima's sound four visit him they show him the power that they have because of what orochimaru did to them and that convinces sasuke that this is the only way there is a nice scene between kakashi and sasuke here kakashi's basically saying i know the road that you're thinking of going down and i'm telling you it's not the right way to go long term kakashi gaiden comes up after this so i'll talk more about that later but it gives a little bit more insight into who kikashi is and what his backstory entails he went through very similar things that sasuke went through all that talk by kakashi doesn't actually do anything sasuke needs results and no amount of persuasion by kakashi is going to get him those results sasuke leaves the village to pursue orochi maru and his own strength rochimaru only wants sasuke though for his body sasuke must know this deep down but i just don't think he cares he doesn't even care that orochimaru killed the third hokage the only thing he cares about and it's a one-tracked mind it's the reason why he beats naruto later on the only thing that sasuke cares about is strength it's the whole idea of having a single-minded purpose and in sasuke's mind there are no contradictions in his mentality the life that he has lived he thinks that this is the only way and as far as he knows this is he's already stronger than everyone in the hidden leaf except for naruto the only way for him to get stronger is to leave this causes naruto and everyone back in the hidden leaf to go into complete panic mode they really don't want another hitachi out there somewhere tsunade is thinking sasuke is going to go rogue and so she sends out shigemaru to form a team to get sasuke back to the village hence the name of the ark the sasuke retrieval arc the reason they could only go with tunings and ghenins is actually pretty well placed it's because because of konahar crush their village is pretty scarce on resources all of the journeys are out on other missions the only ones that are back at the village are the genie and chikamaru since he just got promoted to tuning he leads that squad it is a five-man squad with sugar maru naruto neji choji and kiba these are the guys we're going to take on the sound for and bring back sasuke before this five-man squad jumps into rescuing sasuke sakura is standing at the gates of konahar pleading and crying to naruto naruto i have one request for you this is a request of a lifetime i'm never gonna ask you anything again after this but please bring sasuke home and so naruto promises sakura that he will bring sasuke home rock lee is also there outside the gates he had this surgery performed on him by tsunade it was a life or death surgery but lee said you know what i'm gonna do it and he is slowly in recovery but no thanks to gara otherwise he would have been a great addition to this five-man squad but the five that we do have are very underrated i mean choji kiba shigamaru even neji and naruto are the only ones who've been propped up as being somewhat good but everyone in this squad when it's their turn to fight they give their all 100 they leave nothing on the table neji almost dies fighting the spider guy choji gets a multiplier boost of 10 000 at times which afterwards he almost dies from each one of the sound 4 ninja have their own curse mark and they do transform and when they do transform they become exponentially stronger shigemaru's team skills really come out to play here he uh navigates the team pretty well he is very hard on himself though and because they don't eventually get sasuke back he just beats himself up over for a while this is what i mean about naruto giving some of their side characters some really solid screen time in action all of these fights are standalone good fights choji does things that i never would have expected choji to ever do negi proves why he was perceived to be the ultimate genie kiba and shikomaru get ran through a bit but it ultimately leaves naruto to catch sasuke who has actually died and come back to life in this box it's this thing that's meant to evolve his curse mark to another level again with sasuke anything to get stronger he literally dies and comes back orochimaru sends out one of his strongest guys and this is actually one of rochimaru's goons that i really like kimimaru kimimaru is one of the strongest guys with the coolest ability he has bone abilities that's such a sick technique he rips bones out of his body and uses them to fight that's something that wow man they say healthy bones are as hard as steel and in kimi maru's case it's absolutely correct he is fighting an enraged naruto just having seen sasuke run away completely ignoring all of naruto's callouts to come back to the village when naruto sees sasuke he's speaking to him as if everything's just completely normal hey sasuke what are you doing buddy come back to the village he doesn't quite understand what sasuke is mentally going through which is weird for naruto because with everybody else he does understand what they're mentally going through but with sasuke it's different and so sasuke runs off and kimi maru is left fighting all of these shadow clones of naruto this has got to be the most amount of shadow clones naruto's ever made and this seems impressive but kimi maru just wipes him out one hit one hit one hit smoke smoke smoke kimi maru was about to destroy naruto but in the biggest turn of events of all time rock lee comes in and we haven't seen this guy since the fight with gara and i really like this even though this might be the last time rockley does anything it's in a big moment and any time we see rockley it's always a good time he takes naruto's place in the fight with kimi maru and naruto chases after sasuke and so we're still left though with some of the hidden leaf genies still fighting the sound 4. shigemaru is having a hard time and so is kiba kiba has escaped death more than once and shikamaru is only getting by on his tactics alone rock lee gets drunk and holds his own for a little bit but there is this moment where you think the sound four are actually gonna win and kill some of these hidden leaf genies like shikamaru and kiba they were all about to die as the story would play out though the sand village comes in tamari for shikamaru conqueror on place of kiba and gara in place of rock lee tamari wipes out the entire forest konkro does some puppet thing angara this is one of the most deadly people that we've seen in the series so far gaara garu buries kimimaru 200 meters underground in the sand he turns this whole field this whole foresty field plains area into a desert drills him 200 meters underground and crushes him kimi maru explodes underground and the entire surface of the ground fills up with sharp bones that stick out this almost kills rock lee but gara saves him again it's a nice touch that garb manages to save rockley after crippling him and almost ending his ninja career rockley though is such a cool guy he's like you know gara you almost killed me you almost destroyed my whole life i don't hold grudges i respect your power very cool from roccoli so the sound four have been promptly taken care of by the sand village and hidden leaf combined and now there is only one thing left to do bringing sasuke back to the hidden leaf naruto and sasuke meet at the valley of the end naruto is standing on top of hashirama's statue when sasuke is standing above mutter's statue this is an iconic moment when you think of naruto even back before i knew anything about naruto i knew about naruto and sasuke having a fight i always saw them as another version of goku and vegeta and i guess that's fair to an extent they are both shown in rivals but this is clearly different when confronted against sasuke again naruto does not take the time to understand why sasuke is doing this the reasoning behind his actions he just kind of says do you not care about the third hokage do you not care about what you're doing to the village stuff like that up until now this seems to be the only person that naruto cannot mentally get through sasuke looks at naruto as someone that he must cut down to obtain strength that's what he thought his brother did and that's what enabled him to unlock his mangekyo sharongan the only way that naruto can prove to sasuke that his ideology is correct is by fighting him and defeating him and so they must fight naruto and sasuke have this epic clash you have hashirama and mudra in the background shidori vs rasengan every clash here is immense there is real reason as to why these two are fighting sasuke's curse mark starts coming out and that's what enables him to get the upper hand on naruto in the beginning but naruto still has that something inside of him the nine tails will not die so easily and in the manga you have this beautiful illustration of kurama coming out of naruto this is one of my favorite illustrations of the series some of the stuff that sasuke says back to naruto he says you were alone to begin with what could you possibly know about me you have no idea what it means to have something and lose it you were born with nothing naruto responds to this by saying because for me you were a part of my family team seven was my family and that was the closest naruto came to changing sasuke's mind but that didn't quite do it from there sasuke opens up his third to maui sharon gun and the battle with naruto ends how this arc started ashiduri vs rosengan this time though they're both able to hit each other and the winner of this battle is sasuke this not only proves to sasuke that his way is now the right way but he sees no need to now follow in the footsteps of hitachi and actually take the life of his best friend he will obtain the mangakyo another way from here sasuke walks alone into the darkness naruto has failed to retrieve sasuke and that's how part one ends what a fantastic story so far kakashi takes naruto back to konahar where everyone's feeling a little bit dejected um sakura feels like a complete idiot for saying putting all this burden on naruto and she pretends to be like oh naruto it's okay you know but she's really upset about it and so is naruto everyone's just really down about the whole thing however dry comes in through naruto's window and says for the next three years i'm gonna take you and train you to get you ready for the akatsuki part two is heavily akatsuki focused and dry tells him to let sasuke go he tells him that it's just not worth it naruto pushes back on this but for now i think jurai had the right idea even in three years at the start of part two naruto has no clue how to handle sasuke he has to go through all of shippuden just to understand southgate's might of course naruto doesn't like to hear that but dry has the right idea how part one of naruto really ends though is with the kakashi gaiden story it's its own little backstory in origin for kakashi at the end of part one it goes back to the time of the third great ninja war where minito naruto's father was the cell leader of kakashi rin and this guy named obito it starts off with them celebrating kakashi's graduation to joni level they all give him some kind of present except for obito obito is a uchiha he has sharing gun but at the beginning he's not very strong we are so used to ichiha being strong in these really powerful guys but obito is not very strong and he's on kakashi's team all throughout part one kakashi had a sharing guard sharon gunn are only meant to be used by uchiha it's impossible to get them otherwise so why does kakashi have a sharingan is he secretly a uchiha before this origin story came out i wasn't around back then but i could probably imagine that a lot of people were really confused or asking a lot of questions this story tells the tale of kakashi and how he became the copy ninja and it's all thanks to obiso obizu and kakashi had this very sickening rivalry they never got along kakashi always followed the rules and obito was more of an emotional guy during the third great ninja war though they get caught up fighting and obito ends up thought to be dead under a rock he is the one to initially teach kakashi about standing by your comrades in fact kakashi now quotes him directly as obito is slowly dying he decides to give kokashi his joney in present and his present is the sharon god he takes his own eye out and transplants it into kakashi's making kokashi now the copycat ninja since the day of obito's quote-unquote death kakashi has visited obito's memorial every single day that's why he's always late he has still not forgiven himself for the death of obito and even rin everyone that kokashi held close is already dead except for might guy the kakashi gaiden story is a very very very important part of the overarching story of naruto itself it's going gonna be very important to keep that in mind so with that though sasuke has gone off with rochimaru naruto has gone off with jiraiya and sakura is now actually learning from tsunade this is the end of naruto part one overall part one of naruto is now iconic in my mind i will never forget the original journey there's not much that i don't like about part one uh there would be some things that i would change though slightly uh for example the second hokage imagine how much more ominous it would have been if instead of seeing toby rama's face on the side of the mountain it was mutterers and you always have this question in the back of your mind what happened to the second hokage it's not really an issue that i have with this story but if i could change one thing and one thing only it would be that i'd make moderate of the second hokage make it real edgy make him go rogue have a whole story based around that and to be honest not much would have changed anyway but we've just spent over 200 chapters looking at this little naruto design we will never see that again moving forward he is only growing up and becoming more and more into the man that he should be so overall part one of naruto gets almost no complaints from me the whole ride was just fun i was never bored reading it but it is only about 1 3 of the story we have a long way to go there are 700 champions in naruto and we've made it up to about 240 so we have a long way to go and it all starts off with the beginning of shippuden chapters 245 to 281 the kazekage rescue mission [Music] three years have passed naruto has not stepped foot once into his home village and now he's returned with a brand new suit as well instead of orange and dark blue it's now black a very small design change for naruto but the black suits him i think black suits anyone to be honest especially in manga but he isn't the only one that's grown sakura after three years of training with the fifth hokage looks a little bit older now but the biggest change is konohameru we haven't seen this guy since chapter two and what a surprise i didn't think we were ever going to see him again konohamaru looks to be the age naruto was at the beginning of the series now he's fully developed his sexy jutsu so really showing that respect to naruto it is always interesting after a time skip to see how characters interact with each other and especially sakura the love of her life sasuke has not been around for three years and she says she doesn't like naruto but naruto also hasn't been around for three years her whole team seven squad hasn't been around for three years and so when she sees naruto slightly grown up looking all mature and advanced with his jutsus and how strong he's gotten she's thinking to herself damn naruso you might be even better than sasuke and she really does think this she's looking at naruto with his absolute eyes but naruto has not changed at all he's still hyping up this sexy jutsu and so sakura just whacked him in the face um that was probably the highlight of the first few chapters of shipbuilding for me i mean that was just great to see if you go back to about an hour ago i was talking about the bell test how kakashi had sasuke in the rest of team seven trying to get these bells off of him none of them could do it they were only small little genny and of course they couldn't now he asked the same thing of naruto and sakura and to show how much they've both grown or at least caught up to kakashi it takes a bit of effort and a bit of creative thinking but they are now both able to get the bells off of their original sensei you'll find sakura has grown in strength immensely over these three years and naruto has grown a little bit but not nearly the rapid speed that sakura has you'll see later that she goes from one of the worst genning to being able to fight an akatsuki member on par and then win against him i guess she kind of had to i mean sakura what did she even do in part one she cut off her hair defended sasuke for a little bit fought eno aside from that not much naruto is very much the naruto and sasuke show and i don't think that's a bad thing at all walking back into the village naruto runs into shikimaru and tamari and shikamaru informs naruto that everyone in their year has basically graduated the tuning exams except for naruto he is still technically a genie and he goes on to say that sakura is a tuning and just so you know nedji konkro and tamari are already joanie and that leaves naruto asking himself well if they're joanine what about gara what's what's he at what level is he a journey to it then cuts to the village hidden in the sand gara is now referred to as lord kazekage he is now the kaze kage of the sand village this man took naruto's advice and instantly in another land became everything that he wanted to be he just completed naruto's whole purpose i do like this though it means we've been introduced already to the most powerful sand village characters there's no one new that's going to pop up and surprise us in the same village it keeps things very straight forward which i like i like the idea of gara turning his life around to becoming the kazakh it happened very quickly but i don't see anything wrong with it while we're on the topic of the sam village the akatsuki are here for gara we saw these guys briefly in part one when natachi was after naruto they bailed on naruto but two new members are here to pick up gara this is daedra and sasuri daedra is a rogue ninja from the hidden stone village and sasuri is a rogue ninja from the hidden sand village gara has always been portrayed as one of the strongest shinobi that we've ever seen however these akatsuki members are also some of the strongest characters that we've ever seen each one is individually going to be a whole new tier of impressive as they get introduced daedra goes in by himself and 1v1's gara to get him out of the village fly in with his little flying bird that he has and explode i love seeing gara protect the village it's such a 180 from where his character originally was think about attacking someone like gara in the village of the sand where sand is everywhere it's suicide most people would not stand a chance but gara is holding back for the sake of his people he doesn't want to destroy the whole village and so the kaze kazekage has now been officially captured and taken back to the akatsuki hideout the hidden leaf gets signaled for this and team 7 is back in action this mission specifically means a lot to naruto as you can imagine now that he knows that gara is kazekage and completely turned his whole life around he really wants to make sure that he maintains that status and doesn't die this is actually the first time i believe that naruto tells sakura or anyone about the 9000 side of him he specifically says the reason i'm so invested in this is because gara is just like me he's got shukaku i have kurama and i think that's the first time sakura finds out what naruto really is what you'll find with naruto post this time skip is he doesn't actually get that much stronger he does but it's not as drastic of a change as sakura or especially sasuke he can do a slightly bigger rescen gun but the biggest thing is the connection with the nine tails from here on out when you see naruto start to lose his mind he begins forming these tailed cloaks around his body the more tails he gets the more unstable he becomes and what that is is the seal slowly breaking and kurama trying to take over his body naruto may have this ultimate potential but until he controls kurama the nine tails is not on his side he's actively working against naruto when they arrive at the hidden sand sakura uses her healing powers to heal conqueror's poison because konkro rushed out after the akatsuki members and got slapped up so now he's back at the hospital sakura has to revive him but when they first enter this building granny chio who is one of the elders of the sand village looks at kakashi and says you you are the white fang of konoha referencing kakashi's father i believe this is the first time that we're being made aware of kakashi's father and his notoriety throughout the ninja world apparently he was on a level regarded higher than even the sarnin and in another cool surprise as well might guy and rockley's team show up [Music] for the first time ever it cuts back to the akatsuki hideout it's got this weird entrance on it and we see silhouettes of every akatsuki member an old-fashioned renegade which is paid a prototype of the 10 towers and the rest of the akatsuki members standing in the background this is how they plan on killing gara and extracting his tail beast shukaku once they extract shukaku gara dies they don't just throw him back in the water they actually kill him by removing his tail beast everything about the akatsuki is shown to be so mysterious they don't even let us see their faces their goals as of right now are unknown as well they say this process of extracting the tail beast out of gara is going to take three full days what happens next is itachi and kasael may get ordered to go out and put 30 percent of their power into uh a clone buy them time from mike guy's team and team seven from here on out moving forward i declared might guy as the new rock lee in part one of naruto rocklee was the really cool guy in part two of naruto my guide takes that from him completely he is so intense he opens up the eight gates against kisame and basically he one shots him the cruelness and constant surprise of rock lee showing up in part one that almost all gets transferred into my guy in part two on the other side though we have a 30 hitachi every time atashi shows up and knowing where his story goes and where his true mindsets at the only thing that he would be actively trying to do is stall not actually hurt anybody he hits naruto with so many genjutsus that play out all of his insecurities right in front of him every single one of naruto's insecurities hit him at once and that's the only thing that hitanshi really does you notice that hitachi doesn't actually physically hurt anybody he never makes anyone bleed he never kills anybody eventually though naruto hits a 30 clone of hitachi with a rasengan and so kisame and itachi have both successfully stored their opponents and now gara is very close to death when team seven arrives at the akatsuki hideout sakura punches down the door with a newfound tsunade strength and there are two very patient akatsuki members waiting for the nine-tailed shinchiroki to come they don't know who naruto is because they've never seen him before but hitachi says he's the one that barges in and screams the lattice that's him and of course when naruto comes in that's exactly what he does so they identify him pretty quickly naruto and kakashi go after daedra and that leaves sasuri with sakura and granny chio sasuri is the first takatsuki member to die he's a puppet user makes him instantly less interesting to me the fact that he's his puppets i'm not a big puppet fan it took me a while to come around to sorcery i used to think he was maybe one better than kabuto but coming back to this fight he is pretty interesting and sakura has this moment here where she gets to take out her first ever big big opponent with the help of granny cheo meanwhile as kakashi and naruto are chasing dundera in this endless ravine kakashi pulls out a technique that he's learnt in this three year time skip it is the mangyekyo sharingan he aims his eye at daedra and it opens up this warp in space and time and daedra's arm gets sucked into it and ripped off naruto takes this chance to hit him with a rasengan he knocks down deidra and for the first time he sees up close the corpse of gara this slowly starts to make naruto lose control you see his eyes face and teeth go fox-like the cloak starts oozing out of him the nine-tailed fox seal is weakening and kurama is gaining power over naruto kakashi has this special piece of paper that he slaps on naruto's head and that contains the ninth house power for now however daedra plans on self-destructing and taking everyone along with him once again though part two kakashi just coming in clutch with his mangekyo sending him to another world you'll notice this as the series moves forward part two kikashi is much more impressive than part one kakashi the final part of this arc is the resurrection of gara granichio has had a bit of history in the shinobi world she never had faith in other villages or the future generations that is until she sees how naruto reacts standing in front of a dead gara within naruto she sees a chance to repent the sins of her past and change the future she never had any contact with the village of konoha she believed in seclusion among villagers but now seeing how naruto a leaf ninja feels about gara a sand ninja it gives her the decision to give up her own life and resurrect gara with a forbidden jutsu with gara on cracked ground alone he then gets a tap on his shoulder from a kid naruto slowly evolving into a current naruto and if gara wasn't already a good guy now what naruto does for gara helps him so much and in turn helps the sand village helps the shinobi world helps everybody with that brings an end to the kazekage rescue mission and in stark contrast to the last rescue mission in the beginning of part 2 it's a similar mission but this time the mission goes as a success chapters 282 to 310 tenshi bridge this arc has the biggest moment of the series so far the reunion of naruto and sasuke who's stronger who developed more over three years the beginning parts of shipiton show a still very naive naruto especially when you compare him to sasuke since kikashi was using an extremely advanced version of the sharingan the mangekyo he now has to be hospitalized just like he was in the land of waves so what this leaves you with is team seven having a new sensei a temporary sensei who is really cool and a replacement for sasuke uchiha introducing yamato a member of the black ops and psy these are two very welcome additions to the cast uh more yamato than sai so i kind of does fall off later but uh what psy is supposed to be is the replacement for sasuke uchiha he looks like sasuke he's got black hair he's very very pale but sai is a member of the foundation which is a subdivision of the ambu run by dunzo the whole thing with sai and the rest of the foundation members is that they are meant to be used as tools going all the way back to the land of waves it's now touching back on that theme again that it's not only other villages like the hidden mist or any other corrupt villagers that train their shinobi in this way the hidden leaf which we've always perceived to be the good guys also have this off branch where they train shinobi to be literal tools no emotions psy is the complete opposite of naruto and they clash really hard at first in the end side comes around but only to later fall off then we have the new team 7 leader yamato who the only thing about him is that he has hashirama's cells he can do wood style anyone with the remnants of hashirama's cells just becomes a very useful ally he's put on team seven because he is the only one who can control naruto's cloaked tailed form when naruto starts oozing out those bubbles and loses control he is the only one that can contain that and so the whole purpose of this arc is to confront sasuke isari had a planned meeting with rochimaru saseri is now dead so team seven takes on the role of sasuri and meets aroshimaru at the tenchi bridge this part here i remember specifically being a lot of fun to read through you have kabuto negotiating with yamato who's pretending to be sussery there's so much deception going on and orochimaru's in the background he can see team seven as well they think they're hidden but they're really not and eventually what happens is naruto hears the mention of sasuke's name and he loses his mind giving control over to the nine tails again naruto spouts three tails and then basically wipes down everybody kabuto gets yelled across the bridge sakura gets hurt as well and eventually these three tails turns into four tails and naruto is losing his mind even further he's doing damage to orochimaru and you know the first time watching this you're thinking oh yeah go naruto but this isn't naruto this is absolutely not naruto this is the demon inside of him and by transforming into this monster he begins to hurt everyone around him not just rochimaru it's a similarity between him and sasuke again sasuke also had to give in to becoming a monster just to gain power but the difference is naruto learns that it's actively hurting everyone around him even the good guys even his friends and then instantly he knows that it's bad the whole reason yamato was here though was to seal up naruto if this ever did happen and so that's what he does however psy coming from the foundation and dunzo's orders danzo being one of the elders of the hidden leaf he orders psy to not rescue sasuke but instead kill him at this point people already consider sasuke to be a rogue ninja outside of naruto and the main cast there is no sentimentality shown towards sasuke and that's when we see him for the first time seeing sasuke for the first time since part one he is not threatened by meeting psy at all he knows that he could flick him and die sasuke for the first time in this series feels genuinely intimidating to everyone naruto's confrontation with sasuke he was not prepared for this the symbolism here is everywhere you have sasuke standing above them looking down at all of his previous team members he sees them as so far less than him he has no need for them he even thinks about genuinely killing them naruto even after three years still does not understand sasuke he says to him how could i become the hokage if i can't save a single friend and for sasuke that's not what he needs to hear sasuke has completely different ideals now to naruto he's found power his own way and naturally far surpassed naruto's strength it's symbolized once again by this whole confrontation he's looking down upon them sasuke feels like a god in this scene and naruto is just begging begging to get him back sasuke doesn't even feel like he needs to explain things to naruto he is that far ahead and that far above he comes up to naruto and it's so fast that no one can even see it he displays only a glimpse of his power and everyone seeing this they realize that they have no chance naruto's mind instantly goes to the nine tails he looks inside of himself seeing this big gate that seals away karama and he's saying tear off the seal you need my strength it's the only way but sasuke finds his way inside of naruto for the first time he sees where naruto gets all of his strength and he eliminates it he pops all of koram's bubbles and before he disappears karama says you remind me of one matara sasuke is about to kill his former team however orochimaru and kabuto stop him by saying that's probably not a good idea these guys can maybe take out some a few more kasky members and uh let's just leave them be for now and so that ends the first confrontation post time skip with sasuke and this arc a pretty short and concise story introducing a few more characters a few more concepts and the maturity of sasuke he has changed more than anyone that we originally knew in these three years and now naruto has a lot of catching up to do not only physically but he needs to start working on that token ojutsu chapters 3 11 to 342 okatsuki suppression i haven't really talked that much about the side characters of this story kishimoto introduced a lot of them back in the tuning exams and out of all of them i really thought that it was going to be someone like rock lee or nedji with the most growth growing into shippuden but i was wrong and very surprised to see someone that i never expected to see anything from to actually have his own mini story arc that hit just as hard as any other in the series in the tuning exams we were introduced to the konahara 11 tim kakashi team guy team kurenai and team asuma asuma is the son of the third hokage and the series never really made a big deal out of this until right now asuma's message in this story is one of the most beautifully done in the series they use a game of chess or shogi to portray this he begins by talking about the value that the king has once the king dies the game is over in terms of konoha shinobi he likens shikamaru to a knight being the most tactical in a bit of subtle foreshadowing he likens himself to a sacrificial piece and then he asks shikamaru if he knows who the king would represent and shikamaru assumes that the king must be the hokage because of the similar prestige in the title maybe he believes that if the hokage goes down the game is over but we've seen before that's not true hokages have died in the past and it was always the next generation to take over and continue their legacy that is the theme of this arc the children of the hidden leaf that everyone grew up with are going to start stepping up and taking care of the village themselves asuma has an unborn baby on the way which really represents the next next generation and the reference to the king is that baby and all of the other babies in the hidden leaf you only lose the game when you have no future moves to make and babies are the future he doesn't tell shigemaru this though he just tells him that when the time is right you will understand naruto comes back to the hidden leaf with a fire to now catch up to sasuke to get stronger and he does this really cool training regime where because of his enormous reserves of chakra he is able to undergo this shadow clone training which amplifies the speed of his normal training by a thousand times or something ridiculous this is where naruto first learns about chakra natures and all naruto does this arc is train two new akatsuki members have been located in the land of fire this is hidan and kakazu tsunade orders a bunch of hidden leaf shinobi to take them down and so we have asuma leading a group with shigemaru to take down two of the most dangerous akaski members hidan is immortal and kakazu is basically immortal having something like five hearts this is a very dangerous duo of akasky members both of them are semi-invincible and live forever and you have that in stark contrast with the theme of this arc no one lives forever you have to pass down your knowledge to the next generation and you have a very interesting fight on your hands hiddan has this technique where any damage that's inflicted on him goes right back onto the original person at one stage he gets his head decapitated and it doesn't even bother him shigemaru does a good job all things considered this being the first time he's fighting someone like kidan but in the end asuma is the one casualty in this battle shigemaru is forced to watch his sensei die and while hidayah and kakuzu retreat for now team asuma gathers around him as he is slowly dying his final whispers into the ear of shikamaru he tells him that he has an unborn child on the way and that's when it clicks everything just clicks for shikamaru when he hears that the king the next generation growing up responsibility in this moment even though it hurts it all makes sense to him information about asuma's death spreads throughout the village from naruto to konohamaru everyone attends the funeral except for shikamaru and i love this so much with no words honoring his sensei he is coming up with the greatest tactics of all time he doesn't go to the funeral he's honoring his sensei's last words and his last moments in life his last thoughts in life were of the next generation and how he's nurtured them to be as strong as they possibly could be shikamaru honors this and with the rest of his team they tracked down hidan and kakazu and now with the help of kukashi this is where shikimaru really comes into his own the first thing he does is bait hidan away so he can get him one-on-one alone this works not only as a good fighting strategy but hidan killed asuma so this is very personal for shikamaru now during the fight with kakuzu it is revealed that he has multiple hearts so basically another form of immortality to complement the duo with hidan this fight plays out an extreme favor to shikamaru he sets up everything in advance and everything is planned so meticulously he sets it up to where hidan ends up busting through one of kakuzu's own hearts then shikamaru discovers how to defeat an immortal man dig a 20-something meter hole in the ground sever and explode every part of his body then cover up the hole again with a couple tons of dirt shikamaru lights up asuma's cigarette lighter one last time and throws it at hidarn this is him honouring his sensei's last words by staying alive to build up the next generation although at the moment all of the konahara 11 are the next generation in motion naruto arrives on the battlefield to face kagazu after an entire storyline of training with all the training he's done this arc naruto basically comes in with an even bigger rescend gun mixing his very own win style russian shuriken and one shot in kakazu with one of the most powerful attacks that we've seen in the story so far kakashi looks at naruto now and he says something that shocked me when i read it for the first time i guess it's time to pass the torch he has surpassed me this was a really touching way to end an arc all about giving the next generation more responsibility shikamaru and naruto were real standouts here and this storyline was so unexpectedly good i like to think that shikamaru represents all of the konahara 11 here with the obvious exceptions of sasuke this was the coming of age for the group of ghenin that we all knew fully embodied by shikamaru after this they are no longer little kids akatsuki suppression was one of my favorite storylines in naruto from here on out i should actually say up until pain every next storyline is one of my favorites in naruto up next chapters 343-367 itanchi pursuit [Music] [Applause] there's a lot to say here and with a bunch of storylines about to happen at once we're going to go over this very slowly one of the biggest goals of the series so far has been sasuke's desire to kill his older brother we see flashbacks from a kid sasuke's perspective that shows exactly how he was feeling on that day fast 40 years later and he is now strong enough to solo all these ninja that orochimaru is throwing it for training all these bodies laying on the ground sasuke doesn't kill a single one of them he spares their life saying the only person i will kill is hitachi sasuke has gone down a pretty dark path but there is still a semblance of reason in him now that he has become strong he sees his goal firmly within grasp and in not a huge twist of events orochimaru all this time has been grooming sasuke i'm not sure how orochimaru didn't foresee this coming with a lightning blade through the chest you have this sasuke domination over orochimaru he doesn't kill him he absorbs him which is a weird thing to think about in terms of naruto's story context like absorbing isn't really a thing that's been used much in this series from here sasuke decides to form his own team the heavy based around a bunch of orochimaru's subjects this little group that sasuke makes is very cute but the reason he forms this is because now he has his mission a one-stop ticket to fight itachi everyone soon finds out that orochimaru has been slain by sasuke this next part of the story is specifically the hunt for hitachi naruto's group goes out with the intention of if they find hitachi they'll more than likely find sasuke and that is a lot of this arc from here we see kabuto dress up as aroshimaru and it's only going to get more and more creepy from here from kabuto he shows off one side of his face and half of it is just orochimaru completely and it's like man just let it go covered so please this is just gonna lead to a downward spiral of kabuto he does get a little bit cooler but man this is one of the most pathetic things and i could see this from a mile away it's just like kabuto your story doesn't even make me sad it makes me feel bad for you to be even in existence in kishimoto's mind the fact that kishimoto thought of this thought of this guy kabuto and kept him around for this long man i would have killed him off in the first arc i would have had naruto to say thanks cuppato for all your help uh you know i'm gonna crawl down your throat just like i do with that one snake and perform the multi shadow clone jutsu and then explode you on sasuke's side of things though he runs into daedra and they have a fight this is sasuke's first real big fight of part two he shows a lot of what he can actually do against daedra his nature elements line up perfectly to fight someone like daedra every main fight in naruto feels like it has some kind of symbolism or some kind of meaning behind it daedra also doesn't like hitachi daedra is kind of like he wants to kill a touchy almost well not as much as sasuke but he doesn't like a touchy you have two guys whose main goal is to become stronger than hitachi fighting each other and it's almost like whoever wins this gets the honour of fighting hitachi and so sasuke obviously wins but it's a tough fight deirdre constantly is speaking about his explosion technique and well that's how he ends the fight he explodes himself completely he self-destructs and this would have actually killed sasuke but he summons a rochimaru's snake and he hides in the belly of a rochimaru snake killing the snake but saving sasuke this explosion from daedra can be seen by naruto's group and sasuke's group all of them see it which means they are in very close proximity to each other directly after this and this is so telling uh it cuts back to the akatsuki hideout and they announced that data has been killed by sasuke it keeps showing itachi's face they say sasuke is the one who killed daedra but unfortunately sasuke also died as well it then cuts to hitachi standing out in the rain kisame comments on hitachi saying from where i'm standing even though it's raining it actually looks like you're crying sorry about your little brother but you know it looks like you're the last one left with your clan and itachi may have been crying but he knows that sasuke is not dead very soon these two will meet once again the most hyped up event since the beginning of the story but it's still a little bit further away so i'm going to wait on talking about it the end of this arc introduces us to the leader of the akatsuki payne payne is not i guess you can't really call him the leader of the yakovsky but maybe the upper manager of the ikarski he has been ordered by toby to hunt down the nine tails if you look into payne's eyes you see a type of ocular jutsu that has never been seen before this is the renegade the render gun is the peak of ocular ninjutsu although this isn't pain's arc yet you had to cover the first appearance and this was the first appearance that wasn't in any kind of silhouette form moving on from that though and not getting sidetracked by any major upcoming villains naruto is still in the hunt for sasuke but one of his shadow clones runs into a touchy uchiha naruto tries to hide behind a tree but you can't hide from this man he says come out naruto itachi is here to talk to naruto and not try and capture him like any other akatsuki member he wants to ask him why are you so obsessed with my brother he's gone rogue abandoned his village and everybody why are you still leading this charge in trying to get him back to the village naruto responds by saying we may not be blood but he's more of a brother to me than you are to him and for the first time in this series we'd see a touchy smile and what he does is he sets up 10 steps in advance he's always like 20 000 steps ahead of everybody he puts naruto in again jutsu and with all these crows flying around him what hitachi does to naruto when he puts him inside that genjutsu is he places a crow with the eye of shisui who was hailed as one of the strongest genjutsu users in all of naruto he chose naruto for this because he knew that naruto after hearing his response to his previous question was the only one who believed that sasuke could still be turned around this turns out to be very good life insurance for hitachi straight away he leaves naruto and attends more important matters and those matters is the confrontation with his brother sasuke that is where the itachi pursuit ends and we now move into another story that's happening at the exact same time taking a bit of a break away from sasuke hitachi and focusing on someone who we haven't seen in a very long time spanning chapters 368 to 383 the tale of jarya the gallant [Music] in the shinobi world it's not how you live it's how you die shinobi's life is not measured by how they live but rather it's measured by what they managed to accomplish before their death and looking back my life has really been full of nothing but failure continually rejected by tsunade unable to stop my friend and unable to protect either my student or my mentor compared to the great and celebrated deeds of the hokage my actions are trifling insignificant things indeed i wish that i could have died like each of the hokake a tale is only as good as its final turn of events the plot twist and mistakes are an important part of the plot too i've lived my life always believing that the lessons i learned are what honed me i swore i'd accomplish a deed so great that it would obliterate all my failures i die a splendid chinomi at least that's how it was supposed to go but this my plot twist my tail ending like this the great lord elder prophesied that i would be the one to guide a revolution a person who will make a great choice that will bring either peace or destruction to the world of the shinobi i thought i would defeat pain stop the akatsuki and save the world from destruction but in the end i failed that too how pitiful how sad that this will be the ending twist to the tale of jariah the gallant what a worthless story it turned out to be i suppose it's about time i put down my pen oh that's right what should i name the sequel i wonder let's see the tale of naruto uzumaki yes that has a nice ring to it the death of jaraya hits harder than any other death in the series in his death speech he talks a lot about his failures that his entire life has been a failure up until this point and if he did die he at least wanted to die doing something that would make up for all of his perceived failures as he is fighting a former student who is taking the body of all six of his past failures dry thinks of naruto in his last moments of life it begins to make sense to him the prophecy he was told long ago by the toad sages to guide a revolution in the direction of either peace or destruction clearly nagato slash pain would represent destruction he would be the one to guide the world into destruction as he's doing right now but naruto he is the one prophesized to bring peace to the shinobi world that one great thing which would outshine all of durai's values was mentoring naruto as he sinks to the bottom of the ocean it shows naruto bursting out of this body of water to continue his sensei's path it's incredible this scene because from here on watching it for the first time or going through this for the first time this changes your whole perception of naruto this is where the story goes from underdog to the literal child of prophecy in the tale of jurai the gallant pain is shown for the first time with his ideals and philosophy he is treated as a god and held to such a high regard in the village of the reign the story of pain is the story of a boy named nagato born during the time of one of the great shinobi wars and when he was very young mataruchiha transplanted his own renegade into him without anyone knowing the land of reign got hit hard during the shinobi war and nagato's parents were killed by konoha shinobi overwhelmed by this a young nagato used the renegade for the first time to avenge his parents eventually jirai would run into nagato and two other orphans called yahiko and konan he took them in for a while taught them how to survive in this war-torn land and for three years trained them in ninjutsu during their time together jiraiya would talk about wanting to bring peace to the ninja world he believed that those who had experienced pain had a better understanding of it and so it should be those who know pain to be the ones to bring about peace a really beautiful sentiment by jaraya it just makes his death all the more sad by the time yahiko dies nagato had experienced too much pain to believe in dry's philosophies he now believed that only through direct experience of loss could a person learn the true meaning of peace and so that is how pain is born nagato lived a tragic life as did mo shinobi his way of attaining peace makes sense to him and so for a while it's a hard philosophy to debunk it's a hard philosophy to find contradictions in and that's what makes paine such a good villain for naruto this arc though is all about jariah as the life is leaving his body he reflects on everything the failures to redeem arochimaru how he couldn't protect the third or fourth hokage and even now as he is dying his failure to have a meaningful death but that's when he remembers his student naruto naruto wouldn't fade away like this no matter what he would keep fighting until the very end and so that's what giurai's last moments in life are with his last remaining bits of strength he leaps a very abstract message to naruto this code represents everything that dryer learnt about his battle with pain and is trying his best to link it back to his story the book that he's been writing the tale of naruto uzumaki once he does this jurai has faith that it will be naruto to bring peace to the shinobi world and stop nagato with this in his mind he is able to die as all legends do smiling that ends the tale of jurai the gallant one of the best storylines is playing out right in front of us but before finishing it there is an equally as good moment that's happening right at the same time chapters 384-412 the faded battle between brothers each of us lives dependent and bound by our individual knowledge and our awareness all that is what we call reality however both knowledge and awareness are equivocal one's reality might be another's illusion we all live inside our own fantasies itachi is shown to be a pacifist this has been the case the entire time it's subtle first time watching but from not killing anyone on screen to his casual talks with kisame especially politely knocking on the 9000 cherokee's door going back through especially watching hitachi gives you a whole new perspective a whole new reality the fight with sasuke is nothing how i would have expected to go down seeing it for the first time i really did think hitachi was a bad dude he had all the elements of it but it makes me mad saying this i myself a fourth dimensional overseer of the naruto story was caught up in his genjutsu sasuke pulls out some cool moves but this fight becomes secondary when you learn that itachi isn't even trying the only thing hitachi tries to do in this fight is to freeze escape from the curse mark this fight ends with atachi's death and a poke to sasuke's head there is so much to say about itachi when the truth was first revealed to me obviously it blew my mind sasuke's whole purpose in life he thought was one way but he didn't see things like hitachi he couldn't see the reality hitachi was given a choice to make if he didn't make this choice there would have been another shinobi war his choice was to join his father's plan to overthrow the leadership of the hidden leaf and have everyone in the uchiha clan killed or accept his assignment from the hidden leaf and wipe out the clan himself and let sasuke be the only one allowed to live and we all know what atachi chose this wasn't an easy thing tachi was not this murderous guy that we all thought he was crying as he was ending the life of both of his parents and they were saying to him we're proud of you son make sure you take good care of sasuke itachi felt and continues to feel up until his death immense guilt for this but as difficult as it was in his mind for the greater good it was the right thing to do it's interesting you go back to the conversation with naruto and hitachi and itachi asks naruto what would you do if sasuke threatened the hidden leaf would you kill your friend to protect the village what side would you choose and naruto's answer kind of shocked to touch it he said he would save both in this instance if hitachi was naruto and naruto was in a touchy situation at that moment in time naruto would not have killed his clan the difference with naruto is he probably would have found a resolution for both or died trying itachi felt so much grief for these actions that he believed sasuke to be the only person suitable to punish him for his crimes he took the burden of the hidden leaf on his own shoulders and made himself the villain in sasuke's story hearing the truth about itachi sasuke develops a strong hatred for the hidden leaf for what they made him do going against his own brother's will his new goal instead of killing hitachi he will now set out to destroy konoha this was not the will of hitachi this is the opposite of what he wanted itachi's planned path for sasuke was leading him to become the hero in the hidden leaf but sasuke didn't get that sasuke becomes furious at the village the shinobi that would allow this to happen and overall he becomes angry at the world sasuke survives the battle with hitachi but he has not surpassed him you get to see sasuke in a very vulnerable position this is something that only itachi could have done realizing that he had not in fact surpass his brother sasuke goes deeper down the path of darkness in attempts to do so he has now joined the akatsuki and plans to destroy the village hidden in the leaves that is where most of hitachi's story ends he is now dead and sasuke is more confused than ever [Music] i had a real good time putting some speeches in before with the jarius speech the itachi speech on reality now more than ever would be a fitting time to put a speech in but i'm not going to do that what about my village my friends chapters 413 to 453 payne's assault when naruto hears of jurai's death it takes him a while but i love that the person to really shake him out of the mini depression arc that is in was sugumaru asamo recently died as well and it was motivation for shikamaru to step up and become stronger he says the same thing to naruto if you want to become a cool shinobi you have to be the one leading the way paying for the ramen again that shikamaru asuma are coming back to carry one of the most important themes of this story through leading naruto to decipher the code that jorah left for him and then eventually train with the toad sages when jiraiya was fighting pain he was in a state known as sage mode this amplifies your regular strength by a lot and is a very important thing for naruto to learn while he is away from the village pan's assault on konahar begins under the assumption that naruto is in the village he begins crushing everyone first going after aruka then kakashi no one in the hidden leaf can stand up to all six paths of pain another squad is out of the village right now as well and that's my guy's team and it's a real shame because if anyone else could have stopped a pain guy would have been the guy but for now he's not part of this story this moment has been perfectly set up for naruto not a single person in the village rats out naruto's location the whole time pain is there they are beating down everyone to near death crushing buildings collapsing the entire village but not once does anyone tell him where naruto is the village fights to protect naruto pain is so brutal here that kokashi dies or gets put into the state of purgatory between life and death where he gets to speak to his father in one of the greatest manga panels i've seen pain flies up into the air and just nukes the village you get a pretty good look at the geography of the hidden leaf with this apparently this took kishimoto three days to draw and on a weekly shonen jump schedule that's a lot of time to spend on one panel but it doesn't go under appreciated payne has forcefully mandated his own ideology under the hidden leaf thou shall no pain and they definitely are feeling pain right now when naruto arrives you can just tell that this is what everything has been building up to the most iconic entrance of the series he smashes one of the six paths of pain and tells everyone to get behind him naruto is now fighting to protect the village that once shunned him he clearly has gotten a lot stronger in his time training with the toad sages currently in a much shorter amount of time naruto is able to use sage mode better than girai the truth is though it doesn't matter how much stronger naruto has gotten this is not a story all about power unless you can understand pain and then find a contradiction in his philosophy naruto stands no chance unless he's fighting someone like kakazu after a little bit sage mode runs out and naruto gets impaled by these rods he is no longer able to physically fight pain in his mind he is about to die so he screams out to pain and asks why is he doing all of this as he's about to die this was naruto's last resort pain gives into this though pain stops what he's doing and talks to naruto about this he gives a profound speech on the cycles of hatred and he delivers this speech with such conviction that it philosophically dominates naruto when asked about how he would confront the hatred in the shinobi world naruto literally doesn't have an answer he really says to pain someone with such conviction in his ideologies i don't know how to improve upon your idea i bet that gave pain even more conviction the only person who respected naruto from the beginning was hinata it is at this moment that she jumps onto the battlefield to fight for him defending him until the very end when payne one taps her in a rage moment naruto loses control the nine-tailed seal breaks and six tails emerge with a skeletal body surrounding the raw chakra that the nine tails is producing pain is not fighting naruto anymore this is a possession and it's tearing him apart naruto is at such a loss right now that he's about to undo the seal himself and really let the ninetales run wild he was that out of options all of a sudden he gets a hand on his shoulder and is met by the fourth hokage sealing his own consciousness inside his son for this exact moment the fourth okay makes no mistakes this is a reunion between father and son with emotion coming out of naruto and wisdom coming from minito the message that comes out of this is naruto for the first time sees his father's vision sees what he planned all those years ago seeing where he came from his history naruto never got that before knowing that he has the full confidence of minito and he believes in him he does up the seal one last time and with his newfound confidence naruto goes to face pain and defeats him showing that he has now moved past a lot of his own pain but the village is still destroyed people are dead nagato is still out there and naruto is still trying to find an answer to payne's original question how would you confront the hatred in the shinobi world once confronting nagato naruto lets himself be hit directly he is not messing around one bit the more he looks into nagato's eyes the angrier he gets fusing sage mode with the nine tails form he gets this unique looking pupil in his eye and instead of killing nagato right then there further continuing the cycle of hatred and overall proving pain to be correct naruto calms down a bit and begins just talking to him naruto listens to his entire life story everything from the hidden leaf killing his parents to dry taking him into his newfound ideals of attaining peace and once naruto sees pain up close for the first time for what he really is he starts becoming a little bit more confident nagito's contradictions come out a lot easier in person and once naruto knows the full story he picks up on them straight away mandating the world to go through the same pain as himself had him completely abandoned the teachings of jariah and strayed so far from it that it is unrecognizable that his goal is peace nagato had abandoned all emotion and empathy he placed himself above all others declaring to be a god even more contradictions come out when you realize that he wanted to guide the world towards peace but then go on to say true peace could never exist even temporary peace would be a stretch once he started explaining this to naruto it became very obvious that the contradictions in his story were everywhere after nagato tells naruto everything about his life what is the one thing that naruto is going to say that's going to convince him his way of attaining peace is going to be better than his own way of attaining peace well the turning point was jurai's book jurai's novel depicted a world where nagato was the main character bringing peace to the shinobi world through his teachings and his name was naruto uzumaki this makes nagato realize with the real naruto standing right in front of him he had become everything jari was fighting against he hears this and pulls out the art of renee rebirth undoing all damage pain had done at the cost of his own life it was a combination of strength compassion mental fortitude and maybe even youth that convinced nagato that even though naruto did not have a concrete answer he is still looking for one nagato was convinced that he was contradicting himself absolutely exhausted naruto is carried back to the village by an extremely proud kakashi and when he gets back for the first time in his life naruto was praised by every single person in konoha from the little boy who so badly wanted to gain the respect of the village putting himself through so much mentally and physically he achieves it this is where the story of naruto peaks for a while a lot of the main storylines have completed with the death of jiraiya the death of hitachi the two main characters of this story now have to lead their own way become masters of themselves in a sense these last few storylines have been very interconnected some of them even happening at the same time and so with the death of nagato this is a good place to take a break [Music] right now we are 60 65 done with the story everyone who is in the village of konaha during the paint assault arc is brutally injured or almost dead tsunade is so far out of commission that she cannot act as the fifth hokage so the next step is to find the sixth hokage and i think it's shigemaru's dad who says well he hasn't wanted to be dunzo and there's not really anyone else who can't beat the hokage so shikamaru's dad says kakashi kakashi should be the hokage kakashi as the hokage would be as weird as dry being the hokage i couldn't imagine it at least not right now of course he later does become the sixth hokage a lot of that never gets shown in the manga so instead of kikashi they announced dunzo as the sixth hokage and danzo he started showing up more and more with my first time watching he was almost kabuto level i really wasn't a fan of dunzo but this is definitely a case of second time viewing helps it a lot his backstory is super interesting he's stolen 10 different versions of the sharon gun and had them implanted into his arm it's super messed up and he is also one of the only people who know the truth about hitachi and the truth about the hidden leaf dunzo is the acting sixth hokage and he is going to be the one representing kona ha at the five kage summit the leader of the akatsuki has been defeated most of the akatsuki is dead but sasuke is still out there during the pain arc sasuke was attacking the eight tails jinjuki in the land of clouds this angers the reicage and begins chapters 454 to 483 the five cargo summit the meeting of the five car karger takes place in the land of iron this is the first time seeing each of the kage of the five villages the raikage of the cloud the mizukage of the mist the tsuchikage of the stone the kazekage of the sand and the hokage of the leaf this whole arc is taking place because sasuke has fallen deeper down the path of darkness itachi is dead and ever since he died sasuke has been lost having grown up having a goal of only hatred only knowing about hatred he is now a confused character and projects that hatred onto the village of cone high itself the eight house was thought to be captured by sasuke and his group since joining the akatsuki and so this meeting between car gays is to declare the akatsuki an international threat making sasuke a world-renowned international criminal this is bad for obvious reasons i mean if naruto or sakura sees sasuke as a criminal and let's just say sasuke dies or gets captured by somebody they're not going to sit back and just watch that they can retaliate perpetuating the cycle of hatred that was talked about in the last arc this is leading up to one of the longest arcs in naruto the final arc the war arc we're not there yet but when we get there the war arc is very long uh everything happening during the five cargo summit is basically leading up to the war [Music] some cloud ninjas seek their way into the hidden leaf to confront naruto and sakura about what sasuke has done and naruto is still trying to find an answer to paine's original question about how to bring peace to everybody even sasuke naruto takes a beating from the cloud ninja on behalf of sasuke this shows that he has still no clear answer himself but is still so determined to find one that he will let himself get beaten down just to find the true meaning of peace naruto kakashi and yamato follow the cloud ninja all the way to the reikage himself standing before him he bounced his head and begs the reikage to forgive sasuke for his crimes the idea of sasuke being the reason for the ninja war cannot sit with naruto and he begs and begs just like he did when he first met sasuke and once again it didn't work begging in the shinobi world is looked at as weak the raikanga is far too stubborn for this and he sees naruto he tells him begging is a weakness don't do that in front of me if naruto showed a little bit of strength here strength that he currently doesn't have the reikage maybe would have been at least have a better chance of being swayed the reason i say that is because later on something like that does actually happen the only members left in the akatsuki are kisame zetsu and toby sasuke's group was on their way to the hidden leaf but was stopped by toby and toby tells him that the village was destroyed by payne and the new hokage is danzo sasuke's new mission is to go to the cargae summit and kill dunzo which he is happy to do sakura has been doing a bit of reflecting on how she treated the current hero of konoha when they were growing up right now the situation is if sasuke gets killed neither naruto nor sakura would just let that be they would not sit still if sasuke was the reason for a war and then he died they would retaliate in some way then if something happened to either naruto or sakura the rest of the konahara 11 would retaliate thus continuing the pointless cycle of hatred so their plan is to go to the summit and sakura takes on a new burden of her own to try and stop sasuke from this point onwards the man that we see in the mask who has gone under the name of toby has been claiming to be maduro uchiha the true leader of the akatsuki he comes face to face with naruto and tells him everything about hitachi and sasuke's story the history of the sage of the six paths indra and ashrae it is now revealed that naruto and sasuke are the literal reincarnations of the six paths sons indra and ashrae sasuke getting the eyes and naruto getting the chakra solidifying to the absolute 100 extreme that naruto and sasuke are bound together through destiny two sides of the same coin both wanting peace but going about it two different ways sasuke's way of going about it is by becoming as strong as he possibly can and take all the world's burden onto himself and be strong enough to actually endure it while naruto's way is simply showing people the power of love this goes back through the origins of shinobi indra vs ashura hashirama vs madra and now naruto vs sasuke this was an interesting way for the story to go about this naruto and sasuke's rivalry now goes beyond them just being part of the same team beyond them just being friends their rivalry has now been going on for hundreds of years and i don't hate this it was a shock reading it for the first time but this story has grown a lot and to keep the narrative focus on naruto and sasuke taking it down the destiny route is not the worst idea my only thing is when toby first tells naruto this it just feels like it comes out of nowhere and since this is a pretty big plot point especially going into the final battle it would have been nice to see some hints towards this some subtle foreshadowing especially in part one the five card game meeting is now underway and during it sasuke is there and engages in a fight with the raika gay this shows off how powerful the reikage is but gara is also there this is someone who knew sasuke when the tables were turned and so what you see is gaira trying to pull out a talk no jutsu of his own this doesn't work against sasuke though pretty quickly gara realizes this and with tears in his eyes he just gives up on talking and just attacks sasuke along with everybody else um i really like the idea of gara trying to emulate naruto's talk no jutsu because that's what got him to change sides i like that a lot you can tell that gara really respects naruto for this sasuke almost dies battling against the five car gay this was a huge task for him to undertake dunzo wasn't even there so he didn't even get a shot at him straight away but he is actually rescued by toby still claiming to be moderate uchiha he is about to make a declaration of war that will last from now all the way until the end of the series toby wishes to talk to the gokange about his plan the infinite tsukey yomi for this plan to work he must release the ten tails a combination of all the tailed beast's power to project a genjutsu onto the surface of the moon and put everyone into a fake but ideal world of peace that's his plan i'll speak more on the infinite tsuka yomi later but for now just know that it's honestly one of the best antagonist motivations i've ever seen the man behind the mask the man controlling everything it all comes together during the war and i'll speak more on that then for now obviously the five cargo aren't going to give up naruto and killer b who the legion cherokee left so toby has no choice but to now declare the fourth great ninja war on his way to becoming the best and most valuable akatsuki member of all time kisame is on his way to fight the a tales killer bee this is one of my favorite fights in the series for the first time showing ajinshiruki who can actually control his biju and also for the first time kisame going in showing why he really is the best dukatsuki member calling himself the tailless bijou and having one of the coolest transformations of the series he surrounds the area in a dome of water and becomes a shark a man shark this really is where kisame becomes goated in my mind taking on a biju level threat by himself and technically winning the same harder the sword that kasami carries around liked b's chakra more and decided to restore his salmon a bit so b is able to escape death not only that though the reikage comes in and with b's help they hit him with a double lariat instant decapitation but thankfully this wasn't the end of kisame the next fight is thematically a brilliant matchup sasuke vs danzo starting off strong with their susan note dunzo speaks itachi's name and you have this panel where sasuke just crushes him in his hand if this was anybody else that's an instant win quickest fight of the series and i bet a lot of people just wish that's how dunzo died dunzo had already been exposed for manipulating people with his stolen sharing gun and quickly lost the trust of the other kage so he's already kind of just not having a good day now he's stuck fighting sasuke and the only reason he survives this is because each one of dunzo's eyes that he's stolen gives him an extra life so he's got about 10 extra lives sasuke has to beat him down like 10 times to kill him what's interesting about this fight is you have someone in donso who is so unlikable and honestly seems like a villain too but he isn't dunzo places the village above all else but his problem is he desires an overabundance of power and control this is proven by statements such as with yuchiha and hashirama's power it looks like he was about to go up to naruto next and take control of the nighthouse for himself then on the other side you have sasuke who at this point is also unlikable taking on the role of a villain but everyone still wants to see danzo die even though danzo's ultimate goal is to protect the village the way he goes about it is far too dictatory for people to actually get behind here you have sasuke whose goal is directly opposed to that and i think most people are on board with sasuke taking dunzo out here and that's exactly what he does at the same time going through his most loyal companion sasuke is now completely in the darkness he sees no light killing dunzo hypes him up even more because now he feels like he just cleansed the uchiha name it is at this time when sasuke is about to kill karin that sakura appears after trying to rid naruto of this burden she now confronts sasuke herself planning to kill him all by herself what was sakura thinking did she really think that she could take down sasuke by herself when it took the five cargo combined to take down sasuke well at first she tries to lie to him by saying let me join you but she couldn't even prove that she was being serious and so it leaves it up to kakashi to step in at the last second as sasuke was about to kill sakura and it is now getting very close to a official team seven reunion sakura here you know a lot of people would say what a sakura thinking i haven't said that but to be honest it makes a lot of sense uh for her character to to act this way seeing sasuke in this state i mean she just got paralyzed in the end she just knew there was nothing she could do against this guy i feel fukukashi here standing before him sasuke just laughs in his face at any kind of reconciliation he is so much stronger than kakashi right now and that fact alone proves to him that what he is doing is still the right thing but he's just so edgy right now a part of him i can tell is really enjoying this moment of reunion [Music] chapters 484 to 515 the 4th shinobi war countdown the reunion of team 7 gets complete when naruto arrives saving sakura from yet another one of sasuke's attempts to kill her they both share this look this is the real reunion forget about yamato and part two of shapuden with psy forget about that this is the real reunion at the start of part two naruto was not ready he was so underprepared to face sasuke whereas now things are so much more even this time and this may be the only time sasuke's heard this ever naruto begins by sympathizing with him and tries to understand him on the same level they both clash and without any spoken words their battle does all the talking it is with his increased strength that shows naruto's ideals can match up to sasukes and go even beyond this is the only way to get through to him naruto must defeat sasuke he must show that his shinobi way is better and the only way to do that is by becoming stronger and defeating him in battle prove whose ideology has made them stronger naruto's dialogue with sasuke is so much better now and such a better way to go about it instead of begging him and crying for him to come back to the village naruto basically just starts thinking about all the good times he used to have just knowing sasuke knowing that he was around and not acknowledging his just existence by just smiling and being happy about it showing love it's a very simple approach but that's all it needs to be that's all happiness really is sasuke is still not moved by this but subtly i think he's he's getting there he puts up a front of i'm still going to kill everyone in kona you must kill me or die trying just by seeing naruto and how powerful he's gotten and he still acts the exact same way it becomes clear this time instead of not wanting to even acknowledge naruto's existence this time when naruto says i have one last thing to say sasuke now acknowledges him and wants to hear him out the next exchange naruto has with sasuke is by far the most convincing thing he's said all series he tells sasuke that if he invades konoha they both die naruto claims to be the only one who can handle all of sasuke's power aka hatred he goes on to say that the burden of all of sasuke's hate is entirely on himself and that when the day comes that he invades konoha naruto will die with him this gets a reaction sasuke flips out and loses a lot of his usual cool it took him halfway through shippuden but naruto is finally starting to get it keep this up and he'll have sasuke acting like margin vegeta by the end of the series [Music] sasuke then leaves with toby and the fourth shinobi war is about to begin a shinobi alliance is formed between all five villagers now working together against what they think is maduro uchiha on topi's side of the war he runs into kabuto who is completely given into the ways of the snake and well here he is using edo tensei to reanimate the most powerful akatsuki members including itachi and even mudra uchiha himself showing that toby is lying about his real identity so kabuto becomes part of the war and i don't actually mind this even though kabuto is not the best uh it's not like he's on the front stage fighting everybody himself he's just sitting in the background basically in the control room using some of the best characters in zombie-like form and i will say this about cumberso his recent design change and what he's been able to do is actually very impressive so from here on out kabutos are right the five cargo unanimously decide to send naruto and be the last remaining holders of bijou to an island far away from the war this is somewhat controversial as naruto and b would help a lot in the war however if they were both to go down it would be all over the thing is they don't even tell naruto that there's a war knowing how he is he would not just sit on this island so everyone just lies to him for about a third of the war [Music] this turns out to be an amazing thing at this point naruto has been going on too long without being able to control the nine tails power admittedly nine towers is the hardest to tame but that's what this arc is all about the first thing naruto has to do is defeat himself at the waterfall of truth and you see the evil naruto this is all the toxicity that naruto holds that he still has not moved on from from his childhood going all the way back to how the villagers treated him growing up and the way naruto combats this is extremely simple once again but very effective he first tries by fighting himself which was never gonna work instead of fighting since this is himself this should be the cleanest talk no jutsu of the series and it pretty much is naruto has a beautiful it's beautiful in a moment with himself where he takes any amount of resentment inside himself any amount of hostility and toxicity inside of him for how he was treated and turns it into a strength from here now he is able to finally attempt to control the nine tails the only way to turn karama's power into his own is to overpower him directly and this is obviously a very hard thing to do the 9000 cherokee is renowned for being difficult to tame and the first time naruto tries this the nine towers gets in his head because he was there seeing what naruto has seen going through his life he knows what he feels and he knows exactly what buttons to press naruto is quickly becoming engulfed by karama's cloak this gets subdued by naruto's mother showing up similar to how minotaur appeared he also set up kushina for this exact case say it with me the fourth hokage makes no mistakes with some guidance from his mother naruto hits the nine tails with a multi-shadow clone sage mode resengan with each of them being the size of a house when naruto extracts the chakra out of the nine tails he gets lit up in this fiery aura this is a huge moment for the first time naruto now has control over something that has had control over him the entire series and his entire life naruto has overcome something that has been the source of all of his pain karama never made it easy on naruto always working against him and now for the first time naruto has taken control and it's illustrated so well here with this new form he has as it would turn out kisame had been hiding inside same harder the entire time and when naruto transforms he immediately senses this this is kasami's last stand unfortunately for him he ends up fighting might guy this is also a really good fight any fight with kisame and especially guy is going to be good and this is their third clash at this point guy opens up the eight gates and pretty much one shots uh guy is going to get really impressive going into the war and this is just a small taste of his power but yeah kisar may take him down pretty easily the akatsuki is no more he gets taken in and you get to see a bit of his backstory with madura and once again showing why kisame is the goat of the akatsuki to avoid revealing any information he thinks back to hitachi he thinks back to mudra and he thinks back to shinobi what it means he commits suicide by feeding his own body to sharks before any information can be extracted from him staying loyal to his own until the very end even might guy respects this meanwhile things are only just getting started the man acting as mudra picks up the renegade from nagato and the 4th shinobi war is about to move into its second act chapters 5 16 to 5 59 the fourth shinobi war confrontation kabuto has reanimated everyone villains of the past are going to be reoccurring in the war under the control of kabuto kabuto kabuto this concept works with some of the characters but you know there's about 38 people that get bought back and it's not going to hit with absolutely everybody some of the characters that it does work well with uh itachi it works really well with uh he has unfinished business in the story so it works well with him in sasuke giving him one final lesson it uh also works well with the seven swordsmen of the mist we never got to see them before but a heard of how legendary they were and even for them there's so many people that have been revived in this war that it's very hard to focus and care about each individual fight because there's just too many the war arc is setting itself up to be this grand arc it's literally a war it's meant to be big so you have fight over here fight over there fight all the way over there um but as a narrative story it's just hard to care that much about them when there's so many different ones going on uh and i get why they did it it makes sense to bring back a bunch of characters from the past that we already know otherwise it would just be the shinobi alliance fighting a bunch of white zetsu's bringing back a bunch of people like zabuza haku granny chio this at least gives the sidecast something to do in lead up for the main event to complete project sukayomi you need all of the tail beast chakra this means at some point somehow some of naruto's nine tails chakra is going to have to be captured introducing kinkaku and ginkaku two legendary shinobi who long ago was swallowed by the nine tails and survived inside the belly of the beast by eating the chakra inside of him because of this kinkaku and ginkaku both have small amounts of the nine tails power inside of them you can already see where this is going these guys are now plan b for project suka yomi if naruto cannot be captured the ten towers can still be unleashed with the chakra of kinkaku and ginkaku during all of the battles that are happening on behalf of keeping naruto protected naruto still has no idea any of this is happening however during kinkaku and ginkaku's appearance naruto senses the essence of the nine-tails chakra from outside so he starts to get real suspicious with a bunch of people trying to stop him he walks out of the temple in sage mode and senses everything everything that's happening in the war and he figures out that they've been lying to him from the start you get this brief moment with aruka where he pretends to try and stop naruto but he really knows that this is kind of naruto's destiny uh and so with the nine towers chakra power he easily just leaves from this island and he is now headed directly onto the battlefield going against the five car gaze orders the one man who is more angry about this than anybody and may have the power to do something about it is the reikage extremely stubborn in his ways the reikage has a zero tolerance policy floating naruto or b through even stating that he would kill them simply to delay toby's plans naruto tries sidestepping and just running around him but the reikage is able to keep up with the speed of even this new chakra mode the reikage is fast and in this situation is the embodiment of ninja society they are tools of war not having a second thought about killing naruto just to slow down the enemy naruto is acknowledged by tsunade for controlling the nine tails after some convincing and some memories of minotau the fourth okay say it with me makes no mistakes he had a pretty solid plan leaving it all up to his son and the reikage tests naruto if he can outspeed him he will let him through and that's exactly what naruto does from here he marches onto the battlefield rampaging through a bunch of white zetsu's making shadow clones helping all around the war and eventually running into an erotense itachi and nagato having zero control over his movements itachi begins fighting naruto and from here he learns all about what sasuke has done and the decisions that he's made eventually itachi breaks out of the edo tensei by using that crow that he stored in naruto about four arcs ago i don't think he planned this from four acts ago it just so happened to work out that way but as the story would have it out of all the reanimated shinobi itachi is the only one who has freed himself and now acts on his own that's why i said he's really the only important one at the moment there is one i'll give you one more error tensei that comes up that is actually equally maybe even more important than itachi himself he helps take down nagato and with this newfound freedom itachi decides to stop the edo tensei and find kabuto himself kabuto is clearly a bit thrown off by itachi finding his way out of the edotense controller and so as the war rages on battles are happening all across the land with past car games fighting current cargays naruto's made about 50 different shadow clones to help in all areas of the war this has been going on for almost three days straight and with that the third act of the war is about to commence enter the edo tensei of the real madra uchiha i am the ghost of the uchiha [Music] for truly this reality is a hell [Music] chapters 560-639 the fourth shinobi war climax wake up to reality nothing ever goes as planned in this accursed world the longer you live the more you will realize that the only things that truly exist in this reality are merely pain suffering and futility listen everywhere you look in this world wherever there is light there will always be shadows to be found as well as long as there is a concept of victors the vanquished will also exist the selfish intent of wanting to preserve peace initiates wars and hatred is born in order to protect love there are nexuses causal relationships that cannot be separated i want to sever the fate of this world a world of only victors a world of only peace a world of only love i will create such a world [Music] it dawns on everyone for the first time that mudder has been dead and the man in the mask was lying about his identity for the entire time he could not be murderer mudra is standing right in front of them as an edo tensei this leads to a series defining revelation that we'll get to soon but when moderate first shows up he has been the most built up character in name only of the entire series he was first mentioned over 400 chapters ago that equates to years of build up in real time and here he is demonstrating a glimpse of his power against the shinobi alliance he solos the entire fourth division by himself summons asteroids onto the field and even tries to summon the ninetales this is someone who takes power in this series to a whole new level the five kage having absolutely obliterated sasuke are now in unison together five guys taking down mudra seeing what he did to the fourth division they see no other way mara is very powerful so for a while the real moderator will be off fighting the five kage and he'll be distracted with that for a little while and that'll give us enough time to focus on the fake modera who is this guy going around pretending to be this all-powerful shinobi murderer the biggest plot twist in the series is that maduro uchiha was dead all along and the man in the mask that was acting like him was in fact obito uchiha from kakashi's origin the man thought to be dead dying a hero and giving kakashi his sharingan is alive and is behind most of the narrative in the story of naruto when naruto bumps into him obito realizes that his secrets out thanks to kabuto not revealing his true identity yet he sheds the lie that is the identity of mutterer and claims the most honest description of who he has become nobody obito has all the previous ideology of pain but a much more nihilistic outlook on life he does not want to live in this world instead create a new one that is more refined and where everyone is in a constant state of bliss this was the original ideology of mudra passed down to obito but obito has been taking this in full stride from that young boy who was almost parallel to a young naruto he has now grown up and everything bad that possibly could have happened to him happened this is the path it is on [Music] throughout the war arc the ninetales has been slowly growing a fondness towards naruto seeing how he isn't really like any of the jinchuriki of the past and certainly not like mudra constantly trying to control him he begins finding it very homely inside of naruto observing him his whole life kurama knows more than anyone who naruto is and what he stands for and now especially with mudra back on the scene who he has a terrible past with the nine towers has been warming up and doing a bit of thinking this whole time i've been calling the ninth house by his name kurama and that's because of this moment right here the moment where naruto and ninetales truly become one no longer seen as the demon fox he is a member of the kona hub village his name is kurama naruto learns his name and from this moment onwards he opens the gates willingly and gains the full trust of karama merging their chakra together and giving naruto an even more powerful form there's a lot going on in the story right now mata is fighting the five card game naruto's over here fighting obito alongside hikashi and guy and sasuke is about to make his way onto the battlefield as well but right before he does he notices a very familiar face itachi this leads to the confrontation with kabuto and if you told me at the very beginning of the series that it would take a combination of itachi and sasuke uchiha to take down kabuto i would have been very annoyed but the way this is handled it's done well sasuke gets closure from his brother itachi speaks on his failures of foresight trying to guide sasuke to be the hero but instead the complete opposite happened and made him go rogue itachi reflects and acknowledges all of this and even kapoto for the first time in the series it makes me care about him more than i ever have before kabuto has surpassed orochimaru undergoing sage mode of this snake transforming him into something that resembles more of a dragon the worst character from part 1 has become a dragon the point of this fight the reason itachi is here is to undo the erotensei and to complete his character arc during the fight itachi stops and says to kabuto that he reminds him a lot of his former self all his life kabuto has been a liar going from village to village pretending to fit in without an identity of his own itachi can somewhat relate however hitachi recognizes his values as sasuke is standing right in front of him still a rogue ninja this is why kabuto loses those who cannot acknowledge themselves to begin with will fail always kabuto has become strong stronger than rochimaru but without arochimaru he would be nothing he lacks his own identity this is further emphasized by hirochimaru being there fighting on behalf of kabuto as an extension of his own body itachi beats kabuto with the most busted genjutsu of all time he uses the izanami which predetermines the fate of an individual that it has been cast on in this case kabuto will undo all the erotensei and hopefully end the fourth shinobi war [Music] until death itachi was proud to still be fighting and protecting the leaf sasuke had been there helping and fighting alongside hitachi and in the end he had forgiven his brother for everything but he still cannot forgive konahar for what they made him do flashbacks show itachi meeting up with obito in the early days of the ikatsuki along with the final words of his father that stick with him all of his life itachi had made a mistake in life and in death realizes it lying to his younger brother sasuke keeping everything a secret from him in attempts to protect him just made things a lot more complicated as he grew up and that's what we're seeing now itachi realizes this he wishes that he could have had more faith in sasuke's strength his final words to his brother is nothing but the truth as the edo tensei becomes undone everyone who is brought back to life slowly fades away and can now finally rest hitachi has died a war hero the five kage in the sushi kage especially praise hitachi and the mysterious man whoever did this they have just ended the war or at least that's what they think the undoing of the edo tensei worked on everyone except for moderate uchiha mataro is so powerful that he severs ties with the edo tensei and is now just alive in the same way that hitachi was he breaks control of it and he's the only one left so now every other edu tensei has been cleansed and is now gone except for the most powerful one moderate uchiha remains the five kage had been doing their best fighting mudra but not really getting anywhere sasuke is now pondering the meaning of what a village is and now we move over to the fight with obito still in a mask obito continues referring to himself as nobody his views are a reflection of the world the truth and brutal reality that inherently exists taking on the persona of nothing he believes individuality makes you lose sight of truth by creating a dream world where there is no suffering no pain nothing that can hurt you that is how true peace can be attained this is what makes obito the best antagonist in the series he takes what payne did and evolves upon that even more but the reason i like obito so much is because he is a straight reflection of what naruto could have been easily could have been from the start of the series you even had the third hokage almost waiting for naruto to go rogue because of the demon inside of him everyone was so on edge waiting for naruto to do what obito actually is doing but it never happened naruto never lost conviction and so when naruto does eventually come up against obito more than anyone else he is directly looking into a reflection of what his life could have been and it works both ways back for obito he looks at naruto and sees what his life could have been and eventually that's what leads to his defeat it's such a good endgame villain i don't think they could have done any better than obito obito is so good when obito's mask gets a crack in it the truth is becoming more and more clear to a former member of his squad because they share a sharing gun kakashi was able to figure out that the person behind the mask was the one and only obito uchiha someone who he believed to be dead and die a hero kikashi's initial reaction to this is not much it's like he's frozen in thought but there's obviously a lot to think about here he remembers standing at his grave every day the feeling that the death of both of his comrades was his fault and yet here he is standing in front of him with brand new ideals and an outlook on the world he can no longer call himself nobody because to kakashi he is obito uchiha [Music] moderate has some good points his philosophy on life is very interesting but obito is not the guy he should never have been the messenger a person with his own story growing up just like naruto put in a three-man squad with someone clearly much more talented than himself and a girl that he liked and the girl that he liked like the talented guy obito as a child had dreams of becoming the hokage he was just like naruto in the most telling chapter i've ever seen kishimoto gives you all of obito's backstory with absolutely zero dialogue is spoken and there doesn't need to be it shows a young and naive and hopeful obito trying his hardest to become the best shinobi he can dreaming of becoming hokage always being overshadowed by kakashi with minotaur as his sensei now fully unmasked everyone sees him for the man he truly is obito uchiha moderate shows up to arrive at obito's side the five kage have failed tsunade has a tree between her body at this point all kagey are close to death all this time though now that obito has been officially revealed kakashi cannot stop looking over at him and thinking what happened to you this is a guy who was so joyful and optimistic about life in his youth and now he doesn't even want to exist in this world the flashback ensuing shows how a very old and withered away moderator saved obito and slowly changed his outlook on the world in his time being rehabilitated obito is still not convinced of mutterer's worldview he trains and trains just for the chance to see his team again months go by and his outlook on life does not change so mudra sets up an event that will trigger it to happen when he finally sees his old team he sees kakashi's hand straight through rin's chest mudra had set this whole event up keeping obito from the outside world feeding him constant stories of despair for months on end and then his first time stepping outside he sees the worst thing he possibly could validating all of what matara had been putting into him for the last few months this is how he begins to adopt moderate philosophy on the world he now believes that this world is a hell going back to moderate he shows him the infinite tsuke yomi and the potential that an everlasting dream world could have in this world they could be anything abandoning what they perceive to be hell for an ideal reality in the same way mudra broke down obito obito tries to do the same to naruto they both came from a similar place had similar everything growing up and so obito tests naruto and pushes him in ways no one has ever done before he does this to gain a further validation on his own outlook of the world standing before obito is the shinobi alliance led by naruto a version of himself that he could have been a life that he wanted so to validate his own belief he attempts to take all of this away from naruto he wants to see naruto end up just like him because in his mind that's already inevitable obito kills many shinobi but the main one that everyone knows is neji neji dai is protecting the main branch of the hyuga clan and obito uses this to taunt and gloat about how right his ideology is he tells naruto to look around and what happened to never letting your comrades die and as you see all these shinobi lying dead around the battlefield with pillars of wood through their bodies this shakes up naruto a lot and for a moment obito has him speechless naruto has never gone through anything like this before he's really close to letting opito get to him obito continues by saying that this will keep happening in this reality death and only suffering is the only certainty in life however it's with everyone else still fighting naruto does not change his stance and he will protect everyone he powers up and shares a bit of karama's chakra with the rest of the shinobi alliance mike guy says something really good in relation to neji's death as lee is crying guy comes up and says as long as you don't abandon your convictions as long as we don't abandon our convictions negi will continue to live on connected inside of all of us it is with this rejuvenated mentality from everyone that they resist opito's mindset once again leading the charge naruto slowly reminding obito of his ideal dream world it seems it's happening right in front of him and naruto's the one living it sasuke has returned to konahara to speak to the past hokage orochimaru is with him and is now pretty much a good guy so we helped sasuke with meeting all four previous hokage in edo tensei form hashirama's reaction to seeing the fourth hokage it's like he was surprised to see the village last this long all the way up to the fourth all the past hokage's interactions are really fun to see here this is the first time this has ever happened uh hashirama finds out that his younger brother toby rama was unfair to the uchihas then toby rama just comes out and says that the uchiha claim is possessed by evil with this zoom up on sasuke's face looking very evil toby ram is making a really good case for why matara should never have been the second hokage and re-reading this again going over it i almost have to take back saying that i would have liked to have seen a second hokage murderer almost i still think it would have been pretty cool to see a second hokage failed murderer sasuke learns through the origins of madara and hashirama the values of shinobi and more importantly being a village joining one clan to another can only be done through the unity of a village sasuke thinks heavily on this decision there's a few pages of him just thinking and ultimately comes to the decision that he will not let the village and hitachi become nothing obito feels nothing he is fighting kakashi in kamui's dimension and he has a hole in his heart he doesn't even feel pain anymore he is a fraction of the child he used to be this is a man who has gone through the worst of everything life has to offer and he's come out the other side exactly how you'd expect not angry not mad not suffering just done he just wants all of this to end his dialogue with kakashi is tragic [Music] all four hokage arrive on the battlefield followed by sasuke everyone sees sasuke for the first time in a long time and they're all on edge but what sasuke says made me laugh so hard the first time reading it i genuinely thought it wasn't real i thought this was like a parody manga that i was reading sasuke says pretty blatantly that he wants to become hokage reading that for the first time the way the panels were laid out it just made me laugh it was just so funny it really felt like a parody or something even the other characters in the story aren't taking him seriously the only one who does take him seriously though is naruto he steps up alongside sakura and team 7 is officially reunited [Music] chapters 640 to 677 birth of the ten towns chinchiroki obito has been fighting kakashi in comoy's dimension this leads to him being stabbed through the chest and once again kakashi getting the better of his former comrade obito as the story would play out obito would go on to absorb the ten tails and become its jinchuriki more powerful than any other tailed beast this makes obito nearly untouchable in the beginning he appears unstable as if he lacks control over this new power the ten tails is tearing apart his mind it is only by looking inwards and remembering the fond memories of his childhood once again the weakness of obito kakashi rin and minoto that he is able to now control the tentaw's power and complete his transformation obito now resembles the sage of the six pass himself there are so many cool scenes here you have naruto and sasuke working together for the first time since the tuning exams minotaur is also there losing an arm and there's this moment where obito says to him i'm glad that my teacher was a hokage it made it easier to give up on the dream he just begins berating minoto in front of naruto thinking that naruto would see his father in a different light all of a sudden but he just doesn't he remains solid in his conviction it's like he knows whoever loses belief first loses the battle and that's just it naruto's not giving up it turns out that this war is taking place at the exact moment of naruto's birthday it is in combination with his father that they protect all shinobi from getting wiped out by obito's blast for the second time since arriving on the battlefield naruto has protected everyone he then fuses sage mode with biju mode to become even stronger naruto right now is the strongest he has ever been and you've got to remember sasuke this is the first time he's seen this and he's not completely good yet this is all weighing in on his mind during the final act of the rivalry it's cool to look back on how far we've come sasuke and naruto from climbing trees now standing side by side being the most powerful versions of themselves the story has come a long way [Music] the story of obito is the story of a man stuck in solitude all throughout the war he has been testing naruto's conviction and his beliefs because they are beliefs that he himself once had what this leads to is the more obito pushes naruto he is just testing his own convictions at the same time the more naruto sticks to his shinobi way the weaker obito gets naruto has comrades from all across the shinobi world standing alongside him at this point in the story he's already earned all of their respect this is the exact same thing that obito wanted seeing this obito's mentality slowly starts to weaken while naruto's only grows he even has sasuke on his side for this one obito's subconscious then begins to imagine what his life would have been like if he didn't go down matara's path and simply returned to the village he envisions himself as the hokage and when naruto catches this obito's contradiction becomes clearer than ever a long conversation then follows between the two in this white void obito begins feeling certain ways as naruto reminds him of who he is as much as he tried to pursue the persona of nobody the fact is he is obito huchiha who dreamt of one day becoming hokage and having all the villagers respect him as much as obito tries to test naruto's will he couldn't break it and by not being able to break it he instead led into his own destruction in one of the first lessons of this series we learn there are no shortcuts to anything of value in this life it all kind of ties back into the idea of the infinite tsukayomi even if you make a perfect dream world if everything you want is always going to be handed to you every single time easily it means nothing it is with naruto's greatest speech of the series that he almost gets obito obito tries really hard to stay on this path that matara sets for him but the next thing naruto does remind him too much of his younger self for him to be ignored while obito is grabbing him by the neck naruto punches him away and says don't keep imagining yourself as the hokage naruto's punch represents the hypocrisy clearer than ever obito finally sees it and you could say naruto has pulled off the most important talk no jutsu of his life kakashi is about to kill obito as he feels like a lot of this is his responsibility however his former sensei stops him and encourages him to speak it's good to see that naruto's dad is encouraging some talk nojutsu all his life kokashi saw obito as this beacon of light that was taken too quickly from the world obito was always meant to be good it was with the idea of the former obito in his mind that kept kakashi moving forward in the same way that obito would have without it and potentially might die there's every chance kakashi would have ended up just like sasuke or another rogue ninja in the end obito sees the light and is about to use the art of rene rebirth to revive all those killed in the war and end it once and for all in a similar way to nagato in his final moments of life he was going to do good for the world however moderate is still out there and just as he's about to do it the black zetsu moderates will incarnate takes control of obito's final actions and instead uses the technique to restore only mudra no longer in edo tensei mudra is back to the way he was in his youth as the battle rages on against modera he is the most resourceful guy i've ever seen he takes back his renegade fights all the tail beasts by himself puts both naruto and sasuke out of commission with ease both being very close to death and ultimately he becomes the true tantowel's jinchuriki becoming even more powerful than obito naruto had karama extracted out of him and sasuke was stabbed this is the closest either of them have both been to death it is during this time that the most mind-blowing and incredible thing that could ever happen happens my guy appears against six past moderate guy has been kokashi's rival since they were both kids really the only one able to keep up with him in their group of journey and he takes pride in that learning that six past murderer can only be hit by taijutsu this is the moment that guy has been waiting for his entire life this moment could not get any cooler maybe it could if it actually wins but guy opens up the eight gates the full eight you saw with kisame that guy more than anything respects a shinobi who leads an honorable death and there would be nothing more honourable than for a shinobi to take down six paths hashiramus sells modera and he beats him down this is the moment that defines might guy as a character and you just have to feel for rock lee in this moment even though he says he's not sad at all this was his biggest moment of part two moderate has spent the last few minutes experiencing the power of a gates guy and he actually says he hasn't had this much fun fighting for years hasn't had this much fun since hashirama senju which makes me wonder if he's having this much fun now i wonder what his own tsukayomi would look like regardless of how well guy is holding up against moderate we all know this isn't guy shapuden this is naruto shippuden and it's not how the story is going to end guy's final attack is called night guy this is a kick that breaks moderate's bones and kills guy or at least it would have if a rejuvenated naruto hadn't just spoken to the sage of six pass and restore him back i like guys so i would never want him to die but he should have died here naruto and sasuke both meet with the sage of six paths and learn the history of everything they themselves are reincarnations of the six path sons hagoromo gets them to raise their dominant arm and he shares with them a power to help them end this war the two then appearing together with naruto during the six past sage mode and sasuke awakening the one-eyed renegade moderate is unlike any other villain in the series but in a way he is like every other villain in the series naruto never once tries to talk him down though he never has to the entire story so far has been manipulated by mudra and so we know his ideals and convictions are the strongest out of anyone in the past more than pain more than obito modera is the original founder of these ideas and so unlike everyone else he does not get redeemed team seven is all that remains kakashi looks over at his squad and remembers back to when he asked them what they liked and what their future dreams were naruto's dream was to be respected by the village and become strong within all hokage and then one day become the hokage well he's definitely on his way two out of three at age 16 isn't bad sakura said her dream was sasuke and despite sasuke trying to kill her multiple times since then she will not cut him off feeling like it is her duty to save him from this darkness and be by his side no matter what sasuke's dream was to kill hitachi now that's been done sasuke's dreams are the only ones still in limbo chapter 678 to 699 kargia strikes the infinite suka yomi has been launched mudra's ideal world is about to begin everyone outside sasuke susano is trapped inside a dream and everyone's dream is shown hinata is sitting with naruto on a bench kiba is the hokage it's kind of funny shino finds a new species of bug every day choji found a girl that likes fat guys shikamaru found a girl that is just as laid back as he is ino has sasuke and sai fighting over her affection rock lee has become stronger than naruto and nedji this is where the story gets a bit weird it threw me off a little bit i know they had to set up boruto with this clan and that's a big part of boruto but moderate dies betrayed by what he thought was his own will turned out to be the will of kagya the mother of all chakra stabbed through the chest and now slowly morphing into kaguya herself matara just disappears this would be annoying but the story has dealt with moderate ideology for about 400 chapters at this point it would have been nice to see a more satisfying send-off for him but getting stabbed in the back is fitting for his character team seven now has to deal with kaguya herself the first person to ever use chakra and the mother of the sage of six paths since kaguya is a girl naruto pulls off a reverse sexy jutsu and you know you wouldn't think it would work huggy is like a god right wouldn't surely that wouldn't work but it actually works it's actually the best part of the whole kagya introduction appearance everything i don't find hug you that interesting as the final boss so if that's how she was defeated i would have been completely down for that one thing i do like though is obito he's still around and he tries to redeem himself this is a man who in his purest form is good and i like how he dies everything about obito's death is as close to as perfect as you can get they say shinobi is defined by how they die and obito is just a really good character for this series he meets rin in the afterlife it's a short set of panels but it just conveys everything it needs to before he finally passes on to the next world he gives kukashi one last gift his other sharing guard kakashi now has sharingan in both eyes and becomes double mangekyo sharangan kakashi kakashi pulls out his own susano which is insane sakura gets in a punch on kagya which is even more insane in the end kaguya the ancestor of all chakra is defeated by pieces of her own they work together to overcome the most powerful enemy of the series the war is now over mudra gets spit out and has some final words with hashirama which is nice before he dies but that's it the sage of six past shows up to congratulate them all and it really seems like everything is all over now the akatsuki murderer the war it's all over they've won the whole time during this ending while everyone is tearing up about how happy they are that it's all over and how how relieved they are it's all everything's done we can finally relax and they're all ready to celebrate sasuke hasn't said a word when he does speak he informs everyone that he intends to execute the current five car gay this leads to what the series has really been building up to the final confrontation between rivals [Music] this battle takes place once again at the valley of the end no better place to have it naruto on hashirama and sasuke on modera both naruto and sasuke now want to become hokage naruto's reason for wanting this hasn't changed once while sasuke only wants to be hokage to burn it down then build it up again a revolution sasuke believes he is the one who must take on this burden alone carry the weight of all shinobi and be strong enough to handle it and suppress it alone this becomes a contradiction when sasuke had just spent the last 100 chapters fighting alongside naruto in a war he acknowledges naruto almost as an equal the moment he decided to team up with naruto in the war that is when he lost the difference between this fight and all other past encounters is that naruto understands sasuke it took him going through the pain arc in the war arc just to get to this moment one of the biggest criticisms sasuke would always throw at him was since my pain is born from family bonds you could never know that but at this point in the story naruto knows naruto knows a lot it's as simple as naruto has the support and is recognized by the entire shinobi world and sasuke thinks that he's alone but he's not alone he has naruto who is in turn connected to the whole world naruto is someone who he can just not get rid of no matter how many times he tries while sasuke is actively trying to kill him in their final fight naruto isn't he is preventing sasuke from being alone dying if he has to the commitment he has to his friend and to truly never give up on him when it seems the whole world has is why he ultimately makes sasuke give up with their dominant hands going in for one final clash they are both so exhausted their bodies cannot move and they literally just fall asleep once morning comes naruto's ready to go again and the idea of that to sasuke after they just spent all day fighting it's just too much both losing their arms this story ends with naruto and sasuke walking two separate paths to the same destination [Music] some time passes and when sasuke returns to konahara he is sent straight to prison and then you have naruto who becomes internationally recognized for what he did during the war and is now the frontrunner the golden child to become the next hokage it's almost like that position is reserved especially for him if there was like a betting company and we had to make bets on uh who would be the seventh okay after kakashi if you bet on naruto you'd be making zero returns once kikashi becomes the sixth hokage sasuke is able to get out of prison and he decides to travel the land in seek of true redemption before he leaves he runs into naruto outside the village who gives him his original konoha headband this headband symbolizes the true meaning of shinobi and that's it that's the story of naruto [Music] chapter 700 uzumaki naruto there is one last chapter of naruto a time skip and this serves as a bit of a setup to boruto but mainly this is to show naruto achieving his goal as the seventh hokage the whole story in a way was based around this idea of him becoming hokage achieving his goal and wow in this one drawing of an adult naruto he has become what he's wanted more than anyone else to become the greatest hokage none of his accolades as hokage has shown maybe they saved that for boruto but the story of naruto with his face carved into the mountain desecrated by boruto with a reference to one piece is what naruto's life had been building up to from the very beginning and this journey getting there the whole thing it's been a lot of fun looking back on everything this is a story that i've really grown to enjoy [Music] we have now gone through the entire story of naruto every arc every battle well every battle that i thought was interesting uh that wasn't a flashback my history with this series was entirely apathetic i did not care about naruto's story or the world there was zero respect given throughout this three hour video i can finally say that that has been redeemed i cannot think of another long-running story that has hit me this hard through the ups and downs only adding to the charm naruto has been so fun i never intended on making this video i guess the story of naruto inspires outside its own reality a huge thank you to kishimoto for writing this story and a huge thank you to myself for reading it there is a canonical sequel series in naruto called boruto yeah i did stop at chapter 700 obviously there is boruto uh i'm not going to be going into boruto in this video this is uh to be honest i actually haven't even seen board so i have no idea what's in board so i obviously i know it's boruto but i uh i don't really know anything about boruto and uh i heard that it's kind of bad i heard that it's bad but i also heard that naruto was also i heard that naruto is bad as well but i like naruto so maybe i'd like boris i don't know i think from what i've seen the idea of naruto having a son and continuing this story through generations is is a really good idea and i think i would like borusso but what naruto has done more than anything is it's made me not be able to focus on ongoing series that's something that comes out i wanted to read it but it's 10 volumes in it's it's a long way away for me bored so uh only just finishing naruto i got to take a little bit of a break so uh but that's been 700 chapters in naruto if you like this video be sure to hit the subscribe button i will be here always [Music] you
