rebreather Diaries hot one training de Vaca Zdenek look in the car on the way there very interesting stuff and on long journeys I always hope with the driving on arrival we start on equipment and theory it's a frightening time as you are discovering who you're going to be diving with after some intensive theory and equipment training we're off to the pool you're all experienced tech divers but it's back to square one the closed-circuit rebreather takes a bit of getting used to it first breathing in and out doesn't affect your buoyancy so you've got to forget years of muscle memory we're running through a series of important drills you have to learn how to burp into open water that's not true yes it is here's a trust exercise they take your mask off and your buddy sexually harass you my fellow student John Hansel was fine and dandy after being molested handoff to cave Country Florida to do our training dives Ryan's using his checklist to assemble his gear and I'm off to get some footage of girls in bathing suits then we head into Ginny Springs ballroom to provide some entertainment for our instructor this seems to be wires and hoses everywhere and with a patient rebreather instructor you can afford to do some really stupid things come on Ryan you're never going to fit through there our instructors just starting to have some fun with us throwing some basic scenarios at us to see if we can deal with it and for our next dive site what better place to Train than a swamp and it is true that the animals are more curious about you when you aren't making bubbles but there aren't many animals inside the cavern as we near the end of our training the drills get a little bit more extreme they call this a boom drill where I drop my camera and my pants it wasn't a boom drill it's a Spider Man and by the end of training we're starting to get the hang of a buoyancy thing so much more fun than open circuit and John Hansel and I decide to venture a little deeper into the cabin amazingly this hole in the ground is 100 feet deep but as with all training the end of the course is just the beginning of our learning it's been a fun and challenging 7 days we've all been well taught and we all feel that we can take this machine and use it for some more serious diving because this is a serious bunch of people you you
