RARE MRE - TASTE OF ITALY - 3 MEALS - SENT BY SUBSCRIBER, GIORGETTA

wow guys a subscriber sent me a 24 hour Italian MRE and it's in three separate packages so we have breakfast lunch and supper but I want to read to you this is the letter that came with it hi me ancient included is an Italian MRE I've added three beverages because they don't include those in the Italian MREs hope you enjoy Georgetta so Georgetta thank you let's get started on three meal MRE wow this is cool wow all right so we have breakfast which we will eat first it's in the morning it's pretty chilly out here um then we have lunch that's a big box look at that lunchbox and we have supper yeah those boxes are bigger than the breakfast ones those are substantial let's take a look at what we have in breakfast Moscato Dolce so that's going to be some kind of biscuit I can feel like a cracker now here's an accessory pack uh whoops this this is going to be I you can read this on the front the accessory pack is going to have three toothbrushes which boom there there's part of it right there that's one for each meal look at what she's doing she always does this whenever the camera's on blur it out what is your problem we have water purification tablets salt sugar instant coffee toothpick times three these are going to be the peach candies I think here are the strawberry candies that's cool matches you know what we must do right away what is that this is milk concentrated milk yes sir whoa chocolate heat tabs the stove look at this boy that's substantial that is it oh the the heat deficit right in there down in there we heat her up nice now that's an interesting breakfast they must eat light breakfast in Italy well let's see I think we should get our coffee heating first so to do that we'll get to our trusty USMC canteen and canteen cup that I saved from when I was in active duty back in the 80s don't want too much here we go but you know in the past we've had a little uh problem with heating up the little stove top on plastic so Jeremy Brown sent this to me a subscriber and we're going to use this because if you've seen any of the past videos I have a tendency to burn through plastic with these stoves oh really they'll do bad things too so we have guys trying to cook intensely we got some melting going on down there oh our table caught on fire not cool we're gonna go like that we're gonna put our heat on the stove fire that thing veteran thank you so much Jeremy it's really cool really cool Ace just had a good idea I'm going to add another tablet just to make sure it's quite chilly out here and we want to make sure that this thing fires up good we actually got six tabs for the three meals so we can use two in each meal and still be okay this is is interesting because in the description the way I understood it we're going to have jelly and that was going to be somehow part of the breakfast but we've got little lozenge looking things there we'll see how this works out maybe those are jelly light or something yeah maybe maybe so those are good looking boy they are good-looking aren't they actually see what they smell kind of sweet smell quite quite nice a little bit like shortbread look how it's flaming up now nice oh look at look at the water starting to boil already wow that was quick work those tablets are effective so here we have our strawberry oh that's crazy they're soft they're they're like a Gummy Bear kind of thing yeah like a gummy candy oh that's crazy drop those out here come the peach the Italian beef on these for breakfast I guess so this is in the breakfast box and we have no we have our chocolate quite a sweet breakfast I guess man that with some oh man look at the kind of chocolate it is it's gonna be that what I consider like baker's chocolate is really dark we won't need any water purification tablets we'll set those aside let's see what this milk is all about [Applause] concentrated wait wait a minute what on Earth hold on guys concentrated sweet condensed milk concentrated wow so what do you two what are you supposed to do with it let's see do you put it on the crackers well since there are no instructions on how to use this I think we're going to uh these always have the little Pokey thing on one end and you use that to puncture the inside we should see if Miss Piggy wants any let me see if I like it first Miss Piggy here a little bit um she likes it there you go smeared on your nose there you go well she liked it interesting that's a good sign all right put just a little bit on the end of a spoon let's see what it tastes like here that's like sweetened condensed milk like super concentrated I mean they can put it in a tube right you put it on a cracker I guess we can put it on a cracker I'll bet let's give that a try hopefully the folks in Italy aren't going oh my gosh what is he doing no it's not bad it's real milky I mean the crackers are already Sweet add that that's kind of cool let's do our coffee this is interesting because this coffee is real it's real stiff see what these man it's really check that out I mean it doesn't just pour out very easily it's in big chunks it's very like it smells very strong does it I can't smell it my nose is kind of look yeah it's it's like it's you hear that snapping and popping it smells very strong like Bowl extra bulbs oh look at that look at that oh wow like moisture got in there or something maybe that's just the way their coffee that's how it is ooh I can smell it now yes you think of the Italians like strong coffee based on how they smell yes of course I can always add a little more water let's give it a try right now while it's nice and hot you know it's not bad you know what we got to do you want to drink the way it is now or you want me to have it real sure it's super curious what do you think yeah that's smooth that's um that smooth coffee very mild coffee actually watch this have a sweet coffee well let's change the color up a little bit um I think you'll like that even better try that yeah that kind of Smooths it out even more that's interesting I'm going to try this cracker or biscuit essentially it's like a cross between them it looks like a shortbread it smells sweet but when you actually just taste it with nothing on it it's like cross between a graham cracker and a Saltine as far as texture goes but there's there's really no taste it's just going to be a vehicle for whatever you put on it I think we're going to open up a strawberry see if that's oh that's Gummy all the way through so I guess they do a little fruit a little cracker that's cool that's why gavern strawberry toast in the morning strawberry jelly on your toast if you're from Italy and you've had these you got to let me know the coffee goes down good with them let's try a peach that's a really good strawberry I'm quite pleasantly surprised that's very very tasty the the sugar on them is super fine kind of like a Turkish delight kind of a thing so it doesn't you know you don't crunch the sugar this is supposed to be Peach again I can't smell anything my nose is freezing oh that's good I don't know if you're supposed to eat them this way so this is a fun way to eat them I'm telling you right now it's like having some crunchy toast with uh it looks kind of a fun like different thing yeah no absolutely before we go into the chocolate here and and talk about our toothbrush it being cold out here and everything I wanted to talk about when I was in Norway I was on the USS El Paso and the guy I was on the signals Bridge which is like the Crow's Nest in a modern day ship and it's where you do the semaphore and or you do uh we we did Morse code back and forth between ships with lights that's kind of cool there's a there's a big light and it has slats like blinds and you you turn it on and you you know short blast blasts or dots and if you leave it open a second then it's a dash and you would just send Morse code messages back and forth but um this is the Ensign off the back of the ship they fly these it's just the stars and I believe they call them I think it's a Union Jack but I can't remember for sure but that was cool one of the guys procured this for me before I left the ship the staff has a clip on one end and you put that up there and then this goes on the bottom while the ship's going that thing is a fluttering in the breeze that is from the El Paso that's from the USS I've never seen that yeah of course then I got also got the uh the order of the blue nose which we've talked about in other videos but that's kind of cool a couple other cool things before we went overseas um to Norway we had to get cold weather gear and one of the things that we had to get was this now of course you got to remember we're wearing helmets back then when we're out in on on exercises which is what we're doing NATO exercises it's back in the 80s so we were told to go get these and so I went into town again in order to get to town it was about a 15 Mile Drive where I was stationed in North Carolina and I would go I went into town and bought I think I got a dozen of these because I could get a better price if I got a dozen at an army surplus store I paid five dollars a piece for them and I brought them back to Garrison and I told the guys look I bought these for five bucks a piece I'll sell them to you for 10. brand new in the store they were 25. we had to have them to go I wanted to make my gas money and pay for my time and I sold out just like that because the guys in order to get a taxi even back in the 80s it was going to cost them like seven dollars one way just to get a taxi so they didn't have to spend the time they didn't have to go to town they could get the the insulated hat if you're the insulated cover had one guy just howl like a monkey he said I was ripping everybody off and felt like I should sell the hats that I bought for the same price I bought them for and it was interesting because that guy raised hogs for a living before he'd gotten in the Marine Corps and I asked him did you raise your Hogs and put the corn into them and spend the time and make sure they have water and everything else and then bring into market and just selling for what you had into them no you wanted to make a little bit of a profit that's how the world works so anyway I didn't feel bad because I just thought that was interesting how he did not understand that but I helped everybody they saved money I made a little money everybody came out ahead but when we have these things on you could wear them like that or if it got a little warm you could put it up so to keep it off your neck but your pot your steel pot went on over this and when you got home you didn't wear these things at all if you're a married guy because they we called them birth control hats so I don't know why anyway and then one other kind of a fun thing my wife and I used to go to yard sales a lot Jackie and I went to yard sales and these are cold weather mittens they're actually and I brought these with me they're these are warm they're I don't know what that what kind of fur or or synthetic that is on the top but I'll tell you what these things are warm and the cool thing about it is they you can see why they're so warm they're two layers you've got the inside layer that is made up of I'm not sure what that is but it that's real toasty I don't know if that's like lambswool or something and then of course you just put your hand right inside of that so and then you snap it shut and then if you're if it's really freezing cold out you can pull these tight so they really grip around your wrist so it doesn't allow cold air in so these are really nice so I looked online and these are I saw a couple for sale starting at around thirty dollars all the way up to 50 bucks these are large sizes and I found them in a bin in a yard sale if you're in the military or or you're you're by a military town I'm telling you go to yard sales because Folks at the in the military especially when they get ready to move if they're not very high in rank and the government doesn't help move them with some money they tend to just sell stuff at a yard sale when they're getting ready to go so I pull up at a yard sale like get out and these were in a box and I grabbed and there's no price tag no price tag on the box how much for these the gal said uh take a nickel so I bought them for a nickel I use them a lot I use them snowboarding I've used them a lot of times so anyway that was kind of a fun thing but well I think we should move on to our chocolate that was pretty crumbly kind of brittle mm-hmm again I can smell that chocolate cleanse the palette with some coffee there we go number one very smooth um just from the look of it I would have guessed it was probably I don't know why dark chocolate a little older but I'll tell you what now it's got more of a milk chocolate flavor to it than anything else I have to tell you though guys for breakfast this is a little sweet to my liking I like some good oatmeal I like something that's going to stick to my ribs if I eat breakfast I usually don't even eat breakfast you've got them sweet crackers sweet jellies coffee put the condensed milk in it to make it a little sweet got the chocolate and now that this whole thing I'm gonna have to watch me Ace because if I go into some kind of shock that's because I had way too much sugar um you know one one other thing we have our toothbrushes here we get they gave us three this is kind of cool they come in a resealable pack it looks like so I just got done oh wow these come with toothpaste too this is a little fancy yes wow fresh breath mint toothpaste that's pretty same thing here you got the sharp Pokey end up on the top of the cap so you just open it up perforate that and what you look got it lasts for three meals so we'll put a little toothpaste on there let's see how it Foams up here it's definitely a soft bristled toothbrush not too shabby we can save that for later if we wanted to well guys wasn't very filling uh I don't want that much sweet so I'm not going to finish anything else I'm just going to be good and hungry for lunch there you go a little bit he likes that there you go hey guys welcome back it's lunch time I brought the sweetened condensed milk or restora as it's called in Italy I've got cat saliva fingernail we'll get that taken care of here from Moscato crackers they like their crackers in Europe they do more biscotto crackers sugar more coffee end of it energy gum maybe this is a tablet form of like a Gatorade it sounds like or some kind of energy drink minestrone soup oh there's some fruit compo tune and peas which boy I'll tell you what I love tuna pea casserole let's take a look at one of these drinks these energy tablets let me just see you they oh that's strong that smells like Sweet Tarts I wonder if that's a drink it says mix so I'm gonna drop that in our USS El Paso cup add a little water let's see what happens not much we'll return to that later so I know you guys tell me and all I have to do is get the app I can point my phone at the script and it'll tell me what it is but that kind of takes away some of the fun so this part here full of vitamins I can see that vitamin A 800 PG parts per thousand I guess per grain I don't know but there are four tablets that's really not doing anything so let's see if I am totally misunderstanding well there needs to be either in hot water or you have to eat them let's see what happens here oh it's got a cute little arrow on the front there huh well they're really strong really Citrus strong smelling that's really gross wow wow this big you would not like that um no that's not how you eat those I gotta go back to the drawing board on this because that's not dissolving either maybe it may be hot water hot maybe it's like a hot water you know what let's give that a try heck yeah we got the water Miss Piggy you need a little more okay okay there you go you want a little more yeah let me do this there you go then she can lick it off it's a pretty good stuff picking her chops so we've got tuna and pee in a can oh with tomatoes now that might not be half bad you know we're gonna do this let's take a look at that so we've got the casserole or the 200p is open with tomatoes I think this is going to be soup oh that didn't work out so good huh oh that could cause a problem you know what I have John Wayne we'll open the uh fruit cup next let Miss Piggy smell some stuff here she knows there's some you want to smell a little Tuna and tomato what do you think she likes that tuna you like tomato too huh surprises me well I don't think I'll be using that anymore so let's see what the fruit looks like here guys oh I see pears peaches pineapple that looks decent I'm gonna get my John Wayne I'll be right back so when I was in and Third Battalion H company in boot camp Paris Island South Carolina my drill instructor senior drill instructor staff sergeant Watson he called them John Wayne's so that's what I learned you guys can call them p-38s if you want that sounds like an army thing to me hmm interesting let's stir that up a minute see what we've got oh that looks like some good soup it does yeah we'll mix that up good well we ran out of flame so we might just have to do it like we would have been out in the field if you ran out of flame there wasn't any crying or anything like that and if you didn't have any you didn't have any you just had to eat stuff cold so let's just see the tuna pea I don't see that that's a problem eating it cold excuse me just a minute there you go for it there you go I'll hold it there you go that's pretty she loves that yeah we're gonna drop off that half chewed off of uh tablet there our uh that's bubbling now it is bubbling up isn't it let's say a quick prayer here thank you so much Lord God for this food I see blessed in my body and thank you for uh richly blessing my life in Christ's name amen amen all right let's just see if we can mix that up any better let's see you know it is mixing up a little bit but it's still not hit I don't know what those are for I'm beginning to question now because they just don't dissolve leave that set for a little longer get our crackers open oh that looks like it's more of that kind of bread crafter looking thing boy they do like their crackers don't they yeah look at all that [Applause] Italians like their breads let's see if this is any different smells a little different from breakfast well I don't know if it's different it's a look seems a little saltier but it might be the time of day I'm eating so let's try a little Tunas peas and tomatoes I don't think I've ever had it with tomatoes all right tuna beef salad is usually like a mayonnaise base kind of a thing that well we did cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup and ours you know you'd have you'd have the noodles peas and tuna with some kind of crunch on the top like French onions or breadcrumbs or something like that so it smells really good hmm it's all there's no different components like um the peas are a little chewier or the it's just all the same consistency kind of it's different as far as you can see the Tomato you can see the tuna you can see the peas but it's all the same kind of mealy consistency that part of it it's okay but uh I don't think it needs salt your cracker adds a little a little obviously crunch to it but it helps absorb a lot of that oil and stuff brings it all around in your mouth better so that's not a bad dish I definitely eat that and I'll tell you what having it cold that's not bad at all I can see carrots and peas I can see potatoes and looks like like lima beans or some kind of big or bigger beans yeah it looks good there I don't see any meat pieces that necessarily you see anything Ace it's like a vegetable soup or something yeah that's that's kind of what it looks like so all right let's give it a try here no it smells really good smells like a lot of herbs in it sure would be better warm and it needs salt I want to save some in case I need it at supper so set that aside and then I'm going to mix that up but I think I might end up heating this up I'll go ahead and sacrifice a tablet from supper and use it because this I think this would vastly improve if it was heated up foreign let's get our whatever kind of drink that is there I'm going to give it a try just the way it is here most of it's dissolved it's gotten quite thin but uh stinks it stinks maybe these aren't maybe these aren't uh maybe they're for something totally we don't even know they do have a bunch of vitamins in them okay maybe they don't care about the taste it's just about getting vitamins in you yeah they're like like medicine I wonder what these are here this is what's killing me about this whole thing so these are some kind of brand tablets which I'm guessing adds bulk to your roughage as they say so I think you just have to eat that and that's supposed to you know keep you regular as they say we'll have a little bit of our fruit here while our soup is heating up so that'll keep your regular too yeah I've got pears I've got peaches and juice it's in a light syrup which is the only way to have that that's pretty darn good like I can taste the pears right here good I've got peaches right here good okay there's a pineapple right there crunch is like a pineapple that's a good that's a good combo there I'm surprised there aren't any grapes oh yeah there's a grape right there usually in these areas there are grapes too get the grape out there nice so four different types of fruit in it if there's not a cherry you know in the American ones they'll have little cherries in them but I don't see any cherries in the Italian one so um that's a hip the tablet is not quite it's better but this is you know what we're going to do I know what we need to do that's why they gave me sugar right we're gonna add some sugar to that see if that makes it yeah we'll give it all today let's see if that helps this is one thing they're near the military can't really be too picky about stuff at least that was my experience if you got picky you got hungry and I didn't like to get hungry I learned to lower my expectations when I was active duty in the field all right let's see here I'd like to say that helped it improved it but uh I think if I were going to do that I would not try to dissolve it in water I just I gulp one down like a big old lozenge like a big old tablet I figure that's how I'm getting my vitamins like we did the brand because that's just too there's not enough sugar here to make that good you know what they do say sometimes to take a a cracker and it helps to make the crackers a little lighter plus it might help them be able to make the vitamin more palatable let's try that no that just didn't help much I'll uh yeah next time I do vitamins I'll just take the whole vitamin we got more biscuits I'm thinking they're the same thing let's just take a quick look foreign looks pretty much like the same thing just gave you lots of them Yep they're just crackers that's for sure you know with all the the liquid I'll just say that's floating around in here I'm thinking that would be a good idea for this to soak up some of that extra there and um give it a little bit of a because right now it's just kind of not it's not mealy it is just mushy so foreign that actually kind of helps have you had any of this you want to try something um sure oh I can't believe you are you like tuna though so you're going to remove that yeah Neptune and pea thing is kind of weird though kind of good hate it it's a weird combo you know what thing that makes it kind of strange is the tomatoes with sardines I like sardines and tomato sauce or mustard or oil or lxrdine so we're going to cleanse the old palate let's get after our soup oh the Flame's about done that looks good see if that heat helped that definitely helped it is not condensed soup it's just you eat it like this like uh concentrated yeah it's not concentrated oh I just noticed something if you if you poop up the bottom again toward me oh there's a thing clinging too at the bottom and a coal a hot coal well the water still feels warm I just didn't want it to fall off all in your lap thank you let's put a little bit of cracker reaction in there too that'll help for a lunchtime out in the field this would have been nice to get nice and warm a little crunch to the Cracker a little soup a little Tuna I would say lunch is definitely better than breakfast was more filling more substantial well let's go get some work done and then eat some supper all right guys suppertime combat food module C got our silverware and napkins crackers coffee it's getting a little chillier again we'll have some of that mackerel and olive oil ministra the pasta e fagioli and two energy bars fruit and cereal bars so it looks like they are exactly the same thing we have some more sugar for our coffee and I went ahead and took georgetta's advice and added one of the drinks she mentioned that she included and this is an exotic powder drink it comes from Denmark let's get that working out first here we'll get some in the cup USS El Paso now that smells pretty good guys some kind of Hawaiian fruit or something that actually smells darn good I don't want to add too much water because I don't want to dilute it too much silverware and napkin you know the one thing is that was pretty fine powder so it should dissolve pretty easily in there and let that set a bit I'm gonna get another cup I think and heat uh heat some water up and get some coffee going oh that's some fine powder there designed to be fine that was different than this morning I think the other one must have been compromised almost looks like hot chocolate it sure smells good they like the black coffee that's for sure strong stuff yeah but you know what take a little bit of our condensed milk sweetened variety oh yeah all right Miss Piggy smells like he smells you know what there's a plate over there would you hand that to me I don't mind sharing with the young lady here there you go you get that condensed milk mixed up good in there on the cover of the breakfast this morning it said it was strawberry but I haven't tasted I didn't taste any strawberry in it it's not the most appetizing thing when you squeeze it out in there but it tastes pretty good actually Miss Piggy cleaned her plate well she sure did we'll have to wash that dish that's kind of that's kind of fun you might like that because this is just a sweet drink now let's take a look at our biscuits here these are a little worse shape but yeah they just give you like tons of the same like the same crackers and interesting because there were two two packets of crackers at lunch I mean I don't understand the reasoning behind things but uh yeah that's just Bunches of pieces there I tell you what guys I like fish and this is mackerel which is mackerel's a good fish it's a good tasting fish look at that and let's talk about fillets oh my goodness let's get that out on the tray here oh yeah check that out those are some good looking fillets of fish that's in olive oil let's take a look at our energy bars fruit bars it said I don't smell anything particular fruit and cereal is what it says kind of smells like fish let's see this looked to be the same exact thing let's take a look at this yeah it looks like it fruit and cereal is what it says there's no there were no listings of fruit it just said fruit and cereal so yeah I think ground granola bar so we'll set those like that she smells she smells the fish yeah you know what I'll share a little fish juice with you Miss Piggy here we go oops I just dripped a little bit on her fur she's enjoying this MRE as much as we are well let's open our soup here nondescript at this point see what's in this one that's interesting noodles and beans SpaghettiOs yeah European SpaghettiOs it just says pasta and beans in the description I think I want this on the heater I think what we'll do this time I've got the World War II mess kit that's pretty much what it is what they say is what you get right there there we go say a quick prayer here Lord God thank you for this food and thank you for the fact that Georgetta sent it to us and I ask you bless it to our bodies now in Christ's name amen amen that's heating up have a little more of our coffee here with a fruit bar this is looking like more of a substantial meal the supper time is yeah that fish definitely is going to help with this little stars yep I get it maybe must be my fingers they smell like fish well first off it's all just like milled up real fine and then put into a bar extruded into a bar kind of thing that's what it tastes like the Fig Newton and that's a texture too yeah not anything to you know to ride home about as we say um it's okay but I I think it just it tastes like a fig newton so not bad it'll fill you up for sure and when you have the coffee with the condensed milk not too shabby let's cleans the old palate give our Kool-Aid here our drink a tribe so this is from Denmark an exotic drink wow that's exotic it tastes like pineapple maybe a guava or a papaya or something that's tropical hey so you should try this it reminds me of like some in Hawaii like POG there you go that's it reminds me POG yeah that might be well that'll pair well with our fish fruit and fish [Applause] check that out man look at that filet that is wonderful looking smells like good fish okay mackerel mackerel is a firm fish it's good I mean it's real tasty it tastes like fish it's not like what is that like no that's a fish fish I I prefer this kind of fish not in olive oil I prefer it say on this side with a little bit of some kind of tomato base which we just happen to have some soup here that might help us let's do this put a little bit of tomato base there see if that doesn't make it a little better as far as I'm concerned yeah yeah that's the way to do it right there I'll tell you I like these like sardines I like it in tomato sauce and that's as close as I'm going to get to there's not a lot of tomatoes in that but that's a better better way to have it and then when you add the cracker with a fish that just what the chef ordered I think that's ready to come off I don't think I need to heat that up any longer that's amazing those heat Tabs are strong those are strong it looks good looks real good oh overheated it oh yum that's hot that was too hot to taste blow on it a little more okay bean and bacon soup without the bacon it's just kind of that pasta with tomatoey beanie soup but it's there's just no meat in it it's just not uh it's incomplete it is incomplete for an American I mean in America we like our meats and there's fish with it but I don't think I'd want to drop all the fish in there to go with beans and and tomatoes that wouldn't mix completely well just the tomato juice is okay but uh the beans break down melee the pasta is it's overcooked so it's soft and mashes like the beans you know what it's warm it's chilly outside if I were in the field I'd be scarfing that down following it up with some fish but I would say overall the supper is um didn't have enough packed meat packed things overall the meal it was interesting because the breakfast was was just light it was sugar sugary stuff lunch was pretty decent this is I think better than lunch but uh because of that fish that fish really saved it but I don't think I'd go out of my way to go try to get a case of these for anything just because I think there are some better options out there but I'll tell you what Georgetta thank you for sending this what a what a treat I never would have been able to try one of these except for you sent it to me thank you so much I think we're going to brush our teeth and we'll see all the next one yeah she comes running she knows it's worth it here you go get it here you go Miss
