all right guys we're out here in the woods of South Carolina I've been camping for the last few days with Micah we've been putting a video together for his channel I'll have a link to that in the description below but today we're going to revisit an old favorite sliced pepperoni pizza um I did this this is one of the first new generation MREs I did in fact I think it was the first one and I didn't know about heaters when I was in you know we heated stuff up was on the on the hood of the Jeep or the tank in inside the tank somewhere where the guys that let us put it where it was real hot that's how we heated things up or when I was in Beirut you just put it out in the sun and it baked up fine so I didn't know how to work the heaters I've since learned figured it out and I'm gonna open this thing up I'm gonna drop it first we're gonna open this thing up and see if we can't do it right this time a knife for you here you know what maybe yeah I got something over here there you go I think that's enough knife right there there we go oh jeepers let me take that from you I'm gonna set him over there there we go well let's see if they've changed it since we had it last time probably not um we've got crackers we've got our pizza our accessory pack the silverware our stove chocolate protein powder drink in its own pocket oatmeal cookie jalapeno cheese spread and ooh Cherry blueberry cobbler Well what we'll do first let's get our heater going for new generations don't have any of this stuff you gotta mess with this is interesting how they've improved them everybody wants into the attitude a little bit of water here do not overfill no sir I will not well I just did there we go very scientific approach to this as we do all our MREs put our pizza in yep Pizza that's the one thing about this stuff they didn't make them very big back in this day here I do a very good job making them big enough the pouches I mean oh it's getting hot already I can I can feel it toasting right up there we go and let's see if we can put our blueberry cobbler in there I don't know that I'll be able to do that but I mean look at this you see that coming out that's getting hot [Music] pull that over set it aside okay how the heck does that get hot what did you do there's there's um think of a battery okay there's the components of the battery in there when you add the water it completes the circuit and it just starts no kidding you can still see the smoke yeah coming out anyway all right let's get some crackers going here you know me I love my crackers and peanut butter they don't have peanut butter on this end but we do have our crackers and and guys I don't have my tray you know it's just we're gonna do on a plate here that's what we've got going on so we've got crackers those don't look so good they smell fine but they're uh yeah we'll check that out here in a minute let's get a little cheese spread action going here here we go let's see how the cheese drop looks here oh sweet heavens well usually it comes out in a little little squigglies I must torn the package open a little more than come on get down there well there we go with this MRE right now I'm not hungry anymore all right let's get a little more out of there when you've been camping this this long okay enough said wow there we go part of a balanced and nutritious lunch there you go right on the side there got our cookie check that out now that that smells really good we might do something I know in the last video somebody had a suggestion in fact that a lot of people have a suggestion and we'll probably do something a little different with that cookie this time and we got our chocolate protein drink powder can you tell what kind of cookie it is it's oatmeal oh I'm sorry yeah I thought it's an oatmeal cookie we'll add our water let's see I don't remember how much about a half a quarter or a third canteen about that much there we go these are kind of cool because you can seal it up at the top and then you're able to mix it all up good we'll let that set and mix together and make our protein shake drink chocolate type there we go put that by the cook spot all right see what's in our accessory pack here we've got our gum oh Bill's Brew I love it creamer sugar salt moist towelette toilet paper slash napkin in fact let's take a look here that's TP oh yeah oh you didn't see I forget you haven't seen this check this out so do you use it as a napkin first then toilet paper the the order is very important yeah you you want first a napkin and then you know yeah so yeah yeah there's definitely an A and B step that's right there's that backwards I call it a divine order one two oh wow three anyway there's a lot of single ply in there I'm not wow I'm not going to go through it is it Charmin soft it's it's charm and soft for sure sweet all right we will wipe our hands off with our moist towelette no alcohol smell just a good clean smell sometimes they smell like alcohol back in the day but this one does it and then you know we're gonna make this cup of coffee let's do that a minute let's see here all right um well we're letting water heat up let's say a quick prayer thank you so much Lord God for a great time with Micah this trip and uh the good video we got to film I just asked that you bust this food to my body now and I see You'd continue to bless our day in Christ's name amen amen I thought you might enjoy this uh when I was headed back from Beirut back in 1983 40 years ago right now um I was really excited we had a newborn baby she was weeks old our daughter when I left in February and I went back in June and we had to pick our way back at long story short me and three other guys had to just get to the next base find a plane or helicopter that would take us we went with by helicopter to uh Crete or Cyprus I can't remember which island it was I just remember they told us take our guns apart and stuff him into sea bags take our M16s apart stuff them into sea bags because if they saw us with weapons they'd open fire on us so we did that went from a helicopter from Beirut helicopter to one of those two islands then took a helicopter to Spain and we landed in Spain in Rhoda and had to wait a day or two I honestly I can't remember for for uh we got us I think a 7 37 at the time it was a big one 40 years ago to take us to Virginia got to Virginia landed and they had to come up with somebody to take us down to North Carolina and uh they got two officers on the flight deck said we've got to take these four Marines back and what other gear do they have they got their sea bags and some other stuff with them and okay they got us in like a a little four-seater in the back and the two pilots so six people all together four of us with our gear and the pilots and they get in and they're going through their checklist we're throwing all our gear in I'm strapped in looking out toward the windshield two guys like this and another guy with me and you we start hearing the captain at the pilot and co-pilot talking you see all the gear they put in there oh yeah I don't know if we're gonna be able to make this oh man and then the guy gets his chart out and he starts calculating let's see if we average this much per bag man that's this and they start throwing kilograms and all this stuff out and we're like it's all metric and we're thinking what the heck and you know we need if we need to wait for another flight we can because we don't want to yeah I don't know if we're gonna be able to take this bird off of this this is pretty small for all the gear and and we're about ready to say hey guys you know we'll wait for the next plane and no we I think we can make it in there now they're jazzing us the whole time we don't know this so we're young first time in one of these little airplanes I can see where the pilots can see right off the windscreen and he starts down the runway and there are trees at the end of the runway and I'm seeing trees and they're getting bigger and bigger and they're like come on come on and they're they're talking this stuff we can do it and then they start doing the airplane where it goes up and down and up and down and it's like nothing I've ever been on it's like oh my gosh and of course the guys that are facing this way are seeing my face and this dude's face we're looking out the window and we're all just like holding on they're going come on come on and finally we just cleared the tree line and they start laughing it's like oh my gosh they got I mean they Hook Line and Sinker they had us we were so stressed out taking off ended up Landing got back to Camp Lejeune and seen my wife and New Daughter for four months and I was so excited to go see him they hadn't unlocked the door of the van yet and I would I kept grabbing the door and it wouldn't open and I I pulled it so hard I ripped the handle off the door on the inside of the van they said I was gonna have to pay for that they never did take it out of my pay but Embraces we got to see each other again and that was a great that was a great week that first week coming back my daughter didn't know me but she warmed up to me pretty quickly and those are good memories so anyway let's get on to the menu well let's give the old cheese and crackers a try here guys we've got bits you can see in here there are bits of jalapeno uh right there in the crack cheese so just use my tongue to spread it on the cracker evenly as cheese bread goes it's kind of normal I have to wait because a lot of times with hot stuff for me I don't taste it right away just wait till it goes down it's a very mild if that's much jalapeno that's very mild by the way this menu is from 2010 so it's 13 years old right today but it was packaged way toward the end there were some like 323rd day of 2010 so right toward the end of the year but uh the crackers are good and crunchy still that's nice the sea spread is delicious cheese bread and peanut butter last forever let's check out our drink here pour out a little bit into the cup so you guys can see it here yeah I might could add a little more water it's more like a pudding it looks like so you got some pudding there the other way I made it that way let's try a little bit it looks shall we say interesting smells very chocolatey smells like chocolate frosting crunches a little bit actually dang good wow okay you know me I like to try dessert first Sometimes we're gonna do some dessert before we do the main meal check that out a little cookie oatmeal cookie think chocolate chip oatmeal cookie your chocolate overpowers the cookie I gotta try the Cookie by itself we'll see that cookie again there that's a good looking cookie I mean no it's a big old thick it is a big thick cookie and my golly that made a 13-year transition pretty darn nice uh no I'd eat that any day wait wait till you see what we're gonna do here all right it's been 10 minutes a little over we're gonna take out our blueberry that's still hot get it on the tray you got to see what a blueberry cobbler looks like all right get it out there that looks good it's all you can see that the breading and everything for the the shortbread or whatever the breading is it's mixed in with the blueberries but by golly that that doesn't look too shabby I'd say there we go get all the goodness out there we are ah spoon cleans the old palate wait show me the texture of that put in your chocolate what was that again the protein powder I probably could have done a little better job mixing it but I think you should have it thick um yeah because you don't want it too runny then it's not going to taste like anything so the way it is now it tastes like like uh runny chocolate pudding it's very chocolatey which if you're wanting chocolate which you need to have okay so we got the old blueberries here we're going to try this by itself first the blueberry cobbler warmed up slightly smells very very blueberry e really ooh that that smells good not very warm I have to say not very warm at all but it's not cold like it was that's good but when it's in this state where it's all mixed together you can see there's there's there's the congealed blueberry sauce whatever they do and then the the supposed to be the cobbler the breading part no no my friends not the way it's meant to be oh my yes and I have to thank a lot of uh subscribers and a lot of people who commented on the first video we did the first generation pepperoni pizza they said dude you have to put this together and back in the day I wasn't used to mixing stuff but I've since seen the wisdom of it that's the way to eat that dessert you have to crumble the cookie enter the blueberries to bring back that cobbler effect that's good let's get some coffee all right guys we have uh Kansas mug unfortunately Rock Chalk I know I know but unfortunately young team coaches out he was out of it so they left the tournament a little earlier than hopeful hopefully for you this year but uh got that kind of a mug there Bill's Brew we always know Bill's Brew Goes Down Smooth you know I've never seen Bill's Brew in the in the store I've only seen it in MREs and that's a shame because Bill's Brew as far as instant coffee goes is quite fine very fine so let's have us a little more blueberry cobbler oh well you can taste the blueberry and the oatmeal all together guys that's a hit thanks for to all you guys who said you should try that that's a great idea oh well let's get the pizza out so last time I didn't mind doing cold pizza because it was like Hey I told Pizza all the time no big deal this time I mean there were people that jumped all over me in the comment section like what a maroon I was and you know had disparaging things to say about my family ancestry and it was terrible so we're gonna heat it up this time and by golly it is warmer for sure let's take a look and see what pepperoni pizza oh we're testing that look delectable oh wow it's warm not hot but it's warm I can't see how this is going to be improved much by being warm can you see the the side view there there's a good paste on there not too shabby let's see here it goes you first um a lot of dough and a lot of dough mostly dough I think what we're going to do well it's got blueberry I would say could you add blueberry and chocolate to the top of that fruit pizza yeah you know what you can make a uh no no watch this that is a great idea check this out so what are you doing there's too much breading for the topping okay so we're going to trim a little off have it with just half the breading right I can taste a little more of the topping but what is the topping it's pepperoni man come on no I don't even see any is there do you taste any marinara what's that I'll take that yeah no no not with this one um yeah it's just yeah you know oh wait wait wait of course need to put our cheese on it and then oh that'll add a lot to it I'm sure so I taste cheese now you got two flavors going on let's have a little coffee I have to say everybody was talking about a great pepperoni pizza it wasn't an MRE for me the pepperoni pizza part not so much but we have fruit pizza coming what are we talking about blueberry fruit pizza oh yeah that there you go my friends take your pepperoni pizza slice it in half use the back half make yourself a pizza a fruit pizza pepperoni pizza some coffee it's a dessert pizza right there is what it is exactly right hope you enjoyed the video Don't Wait you know what we haven't tried the gum yet oh man you always have to have the gum is there a flavor to the gum usually when it's like this it's probably cinnamon okay we always share oh thank you bon appetit oh hold up that's right bon appetit and before I do that though I do have to cleanse the old palette because I got all kinds of stuff going on you don't want blueberry and Pizza in there with your gum oh I ruin the taste highly irregular all right cinnamon definitely cinnamon definitely good 13 year old gum I've never had bad gum in an MRE even the 40 year old one so my friends thanks for hanging out let's see about the next one
