an adult only 18 to be a child are you listening to me you have three times virtually as many years as an adult as you have as a child don't rush into adulthood continue to let others pay the bills must put on incorruption what is the equivalent to in corruption immortality good now let's go back to Matthew 6 there six 3333 linen are for yourselves treasures upon earth where moth and rust doth corrupt what is Christ saying about earthly treasures if they corrupted the air what there yes they don't last they don't last now I didn't say they use less they have the place because Jesus told Peter where to go to find a coin to pay the taxes are you listening to me I never said they're useless I said they are corruptible the market just has to dip and you can use billions of dollars just like that another country can suddenly find oil in super abundance and the price of oil just drops and all those connected to oil the four teams drop moth and rust can corrupt earthly fortune Jesus says lift yourself treasures where in heaven where moth when either moth nor rust doth corrupt now if moth nor rust does corrupt what's the word we can use in comfortable give me the equivalent for that immortal Christ is saying don't make the temporary your focus there are people who will lose heaven because of an academic degree in pursuing it they no longer keep yourself there are people who will lose heaven trying to pay off a debt because they stopped returning the time there are people who will lose heaven because of romance they marry contrary to the counsel of the Bible and the spirit of prophecy the temporary at the cost of the eternal listen to the servant of the Lord the book education page 15 paragraph one page 13 sorry paragraph 1 what did I say education page 13 paragraph 1 this is the classic definition of education with this definition let me pause again father please use me to your glory God please in Jesus name I pray amen listen carefully our ideas of Education take too narrow and too low a range there is need for a broader scope a higher aim true education means more than the pursue love a certain course of study it means more than a preparation for the life that now is base on our topic how would you define the life that now is inch inch it has to do with the whole being and with the whole period of existence possible to man what is that the school your thought is to get to a good college because you realize if you get a good college your degree will be accepted in the business world you'll get a good job with a good job you get a car house and a wife so you're thinking ahead do you go beyond that how does enrollment in that College affect the mile how does this wife potential wife perhaps girlfriend at the moment affect this if I take that job how will the SAP of principle be compromised how will these choices I am making affect the mile now listen councils on stewardship page 346 paragraph 4 what did I just say councils on prophet nor can I see into your hearts but I know some of you listening to me are guilty of focusing on the edge to the disregard of the mile you need to change that for your own sake change it you'll be glad you did when Jesus Christ comes back and you see what he has in store for you change your emphasis I did not say disregard this life I say change your emphasis because for one of you this life can end tonight and what will happen to the Maya Manchester South Shores family and your guests make a decision tonight to focus on preparation for the Maya and relegating everything else to a subordinate position what is a man profited if he gains the whole world lose his own soul Oh what shall a man give in exchange for his soul do not win a bowl of soup and lose the birthright before you and I look down our nose at Esau that's the way we are naturally that's why when the devil took away all of job's possessions in job chapter 1 in chapter 2 he went back to God God said he still been enlightened and ignited by the spirit of truth think with the mind of Christ not think according to the standards of this world tonight I want you to make a decision father help me from this point on to make my emphasis a preparation for your kingdom I didn't say help me to disregard this life you must live this life you have to go to work you have to eat you have to pay your taxes you have to pay your rent you have to pay the taxi cab you've got to do whatever you have to do I'm not disregarding that I'm saying do not let that get in the way of your readiness for a place in God's kingdom don't give time to the inch by taking it away from the mile miles and inches let's focus on the mile and give the inch what it deserves which is an inch now whatever it deserves give it your best are you with me but not at the expense of the mile there are children who will be lost because in observing their parents they realize the parents emphasis was the inch not the mile and they grew up that way and sermons have no effect because they have been conditioned to focus on this life that's what they saw you can change that the power of the gospel is a very power and life of God there is no power that can resist that the power of the gospel to change the mind is the very power of God it is a very power that brought Christ from the second death that's the power available to you to change the way you think young and all ask you quickly how many of you will say father help me to change the way I think and function and put first things first can I see your hand first things first am I'll stand up with me listen carefully heads bowed eyes closed father in heaven if I said anything I should not have said forgive me if I was a little hard and harsh on your people forgive me God because you love them if I confuse them forgive me if I misbehave - forgive me Father I'm about to make an appeal it is your spirit that will move them not me and my words your spirit truth alone their God cannot convict the truth must be accompanied by your spirit now his heads about and eyes are closed I'm talking to that man that woman you know that your focus has been the inch not the mile securing this life to the neglect of the life to come you know that has been your emphasis up to this very point in your life and you will say god that has to change this has been your emphasis and your conviction is to change it if that appeal is it to you come to the front let's pray my emphasis has been this life securing this life that has to change and father I want to change tonight come right up to the front come you know and God knows your emphasis has been this life nothing wrong with this life God gave it but not at the expense of the life to come to your emphasis has been this life you want that changed come and the only way it can change you must make the choice and God gives the power I want to see more young people come but I can't force you the sooner you make that change my young friend the better it is for you your emphasis has been this life and there is nothing wrong with this life until it takes a position above the life to come that's the problem we're addressing never place the age above the mile anyone else may God I continue to pray and plea to you look at your sons and your daughters who came I am asking you Father you said in second Peter 3:9 the Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness but is long-suffering to us-ward not willing that any should perish father it is your desire if we would allow you to save every single human being you've said to us through Paul writing to Timothy first Timothy 2:4 who will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth your desire is to save everyone but father the verse says you long-suffering in the spirit of long-suffering father I too will practice long-suffering I'll pause and for another 30 seconds father our call someone else come and say God from this point on by your abiding grace I intend to place the mile above the age come 30 seconds come those of you standing back there pray this is not a spectator sport pray that the Spirit of God will triumph because whenever a preacher makes an appeal the devil makes one and there's a PS don't go 15 seconds this life has been your emphasis there's nothing wrong with this life but it cannot be the emphasis of the child of God 10 seconds come the sooner the better the younger you make this decision the more securely you will be fastened in Christ five seconds then I pray let
