know the fastest electric racing car in the world and it's right there behind me with the driver who has set the greatest record of all time on the notch life with the electric car so come check it out [Music] romantic this is idr from volkswagen yeah idea i mean a prototype uh the guy with robin pike's peak and charming mountain in here neverland on a long track yeah i mean many times so i heard you will have a chance to drive the car today right yes i'm so excited it looks unbelievable and you are the absolute record holder here in on the notch lifer you beat the previous record by more than 40 seconds how did that lap feel was it uh spectacular yeah you know on a product i mean first of all this track it's the best track you can you can imagine with any cars so on top of that with the prototype is even more fun and uh for sure definitely this car produced as you can see with the wing and the one splitter a lot of downforce yeah more than a formula one car exactly we have a 500 kilowatt in term of power with uh it's a forward drive car so with two electric engine so four wheel drive car and on top of that we have a drs here for the long long straight in here but you know from formula one you have to jump into the car from the roof are you serious yeah yeah so you will see i think oh my god oh my goodness as you can see you will see later it is [ __ ] claustrophobic in this thing you're going to show me how to get out yeah exactly yeah yeah yeah exactly yeah for emergency and everything but it doesn't have doors that i'm saying yeah you have a small door it's a only a small though yeah um yeah and so and all the rest around you is more or less battery 800 volt right next to me exactly is that's a good idea yeah with the weather today no problem a little bit of water no problem no no no don't be afraid yeah we already tested in good wood and stuff like that yeah now everything in carbon a lot of downforce from the from for sure the underground the diffuser is huge you start here because you don't have anything like an airplane wing exactly so i think you will enjoy it what about a start can i do a start or not oh yeah you can do a launch the launch is very fast today unfortunately with a with the rain you will have some wheel spin even if it's four wheel drive but the best we achieve from a zero 100 it's one second on 65 last year so it's quite fast 1.65 yeah yeah exactly you will see with the battery i mean the power is is so huge you know the initial input is for sure impressive 1.6 yeah it's why last year we were able to beat the old f1 uh time in goodwood because we gained so much at the acceleration you have the new record now yes you beat the height yeah exactly yeah yeah yeah wow how many seconds did you build it uh two and a half seconds yeah and it was only a few minutes yeah yeah it was it was not too bad but we can know it's a bit risky though it's like i mean as you can see the that means the car is quite quite large quite wide so for sure let's talk about weight so 1 100 including a driver exactly yeah for sure you know at the end of the day the car was developed only for pikes peak 20 kilometer run yeah so right now we are a little bit more than one town exactly yeah but um yeah the power are so huge you know combat you have no gears also so you will see all these things the good point of the electric car for sure a big advantage when you are driving great okay i'm looking forward to it do we have a windscreen wiper not so much not so much you know we are saving weight we don't need windscreen you will be alone just to tell you so it's four years since i last drove a racing car of this kind you know flat out down the street and i'm even now wondering like am i gonna be able to go full speed down the street in the rain like or am i gonna be going all over the place and is it dangerous and all these kind of thoughts coming like because it's just such a long time ago it's very strange so let's see let's see maybe we'll just feel like efficient water again right when i get in there but at the moment it feels a little straight hey roma so in the rain lots of testing and the tires are perfect yeah a lot of time we only drove one time on a range so i think you will be a perfect one time a couple of slow laps so that's very reassuring thank you very much so i'm the test driver today that's very good great great news high voltage you will have two lights here yeah top yeah when you are there yeah you press a break yeah you press the blue when it's blue on you will hear the water pump going in next time you tell me i go to study at nasa the week before you know too many to drive away with this car yes that's it at the end of the day so it's easy it's no pledge easier no gears easy okay amazing huh i like it yeah but also as soon as i get going it's like being a fish in water you know everything comes back so it's uh it was a great feeling it was cool really really great amazing you know so so many special of course the downforce the grip and braking very very impressive it's very similar to formula one and then at the acceleration with the four wheel drive acceleration insane really really insane so very uh very a lot of fun really a lot of fun what is the trick yeah we don't have a crate [Music] now comes the high voltage safety jump honestly i had some worries and concerns you know even claustrophobia and things like that but then the moment the car starts going everything just comes back and it just feels like always yeah we feel like i never hurt we saw we could not catch that would not have been so good if you would have helped me with that one so thank you very much roman pleasure it was a nice very lovely experience cool really really good i think that's also a little bit of an evidence of just not being in training anymore [Applause] [Music]
