hey everybody hi it's becky from powertoolswiththread.com that's my blog wow today has been something else we've had it's been raining all day well not really all day it started uh just after lunch really and we've got thunderstorms and so i wanted to be sewing on the bring home the christmas tree quilt and i uh i can't because i don't like sewing during a storm but i have a whole bunch of stuff here that i have had stacked up i wanted to tell you about things that came in things i've ordered and whatnot first of all i want to thank my uh my quilty friend lisa she made me this adorable little this is a wall hanging she customized this is the designs by juju wall hanging isn't that nice it says retired goodbye tension hello pension isn't that wonderful i really like this this wire hanger is from the dime folks and i'll put a link to it below in the video um some of you have asked me about not being able to get to the links that i put below my videos and if you look like if you're on a phone or something if you you know what where's my phone i'll pull one up and show you guys how you can find them because youtube has done some changes and whatnot let me uh let's pull up youtube so let me pull up my channel okay i'm gonna show you guys how to do this now if you're on a tv i don't think you can do this so here's my last one we're gonna skip the ad hold on a moment help is now offering medicare we're gonna skip ads okay so how you find y'all just heard what i just went through right so how you find it let me hold up my phone so you guys can see like there's a little ad right there okay whoops there's the arrow it it's that there's my title of the video and there's a little and you can just touch the title or you can touch the arrow right there and when you touch the title then you can scroll up and there are all the links that i put in my video and there's an address and how to get a hold of me and all that kind of stuff is all right there so if you just touch the title and then when you touch it again it all goes away and then um you can subscribe that little red right there is a subscribe i'm not subscribing to myself and um tells you how many followers i have and you can touch it and then if you touch on that then it'll bring up all my videos so it's pretty easy and if you want to see like a playlist on say how to do simply applique you can go touch playlists and they come up and my liked videos and whatnot but yeah so there's all my playlists that i have so that's how to navigate youtube on uh my phone on your phone i think tablets are the same way but if you're on a tv lisa and i tried to do that last weekend and get to the links below the videos i have i wasn't able to do it i had a roku i wasn't able to do it a roku tv so uh you might be able to on amazon tv if you have a fire stick i don't know i'm totally we cut the cord i'm cable free so i don't know how any of that works on those other ones i had no intention of showing you that but i'm glad i did so because a lot of you have asked me about that and i don't want you stuck where you can't see what's going on also i would suggest if you're watching it on a tv and you see something that you would like like if you want to order this this wire rack because they've been out of stock for a long time and i just checked and they're back in stock and if you want to order one and you want to go to it real quick just get your phone or find your tablet or go to your computer if you're watching me on tv and then that way you can pull up the links if you're unable to do that on your television all right i had told y'all that i had finished this was a social climber by villarosa designs and joy left a comment and said there's something wrong with it yeah i have some blocks that were uh not placed properly so i took it to the coast this weekend and we hung it up on uh you know pinned it to some uh bolts of fabric up in jeans store at before it's a quilt and lisa and i and jean and ann we all stood around and looked at it for a while and decided what was wrong and so i will be taking it apart and then putting it back together properly so you know it's not like i don't have anything else to do so i'm going to be doing that and then i had ordered from hancock's paducah the gray with the little white flowers and the yellow centers that is my backing for this particular this fabric is in the top so the there's the backing fabric for it and i ordered this green diagonal stripe for the binding okay so i got all of that and some of you i'm sure y'all know that the fat quarter shop does a uh they do a fundraiser every year for the make-a-wish foundation and this year the the project is called the serendipity quilt that's this is it i'm going to be doing this project i went ahead and signed up i think i don't know it was at a 99 cent or a 4.99 i can't remember a registration fee and then it's a block of the month and so i went ahead and signed up for that it looks like it's a fairly easy quilt to make a beginner to advanced beginner friendly i would think i see log cabins and some flying geese and half square triangles and i don't know why you guys couldn't do this too but i will be doing this and i will show you my progress as i go but it says fat quarter shop is happy to be partnering with motor fabrics to match up to 30 000 in donations for this worthy cause so that's really nice um your your monthly that you do with this it will go to make a wish foundation so that's really a nice cause and i'm looking forward to doing it i might even make it a little bit bigger uh so that i can i think this would look fabulous on our bed down at the coast because i've got blue all over that place and this dark blue would be very pretty okay what else uh i let's see i don't know if you all remember i had taken you guys on a come along with me trip to creations quilt store creations it's a it's a quilt store basically uh up in kerrville texas this was gosh almost a year ago maybe and i got one of their emails the other day and they had this panel they said that they were able to get it back but this is the last run of it so i ordered it and i ordered it from creations it's called the three kings panel take a look isn't that just beautiful i just love this just gorgeous so so nice the colors are so rich so pretty it just kind of moved me when i saw it on their email and so i went ahead and got this and i'll put a link to creations below and you can get with them and see if they have any more and then i ordered a yard of the starry uh fabric for does it have a that's just a skew it's just a sticker with a skew but i ordered this for the backing so i don't know if i'm going to do the backing i might i don't think i want to make it any bigger i'm just going to put the backing some batting and then you know quilt it just as is but that'll be very pretty at christmas morning i got my husband to hang a uh hang it dang it joy has talked about those hanging dangits there's rods that pop out to hang with one nail i got him to hang one above my ironing station and so i'm going to switch out seasonal quilts on that so that'll be real nice right also i told you guys in a video before that villarosa designs not only has patterns which they're famous for they have a ton of fabric and they are buy in fabric like crazy from the distributors and you guys need to sign up for their email list and they will send out an email twice a week with their uh they have a they have a tuesday news day and then there's um like a blog type thing on friday and uh you'll get all kinds of information on the new fabrics that have come in i saw this these are called dreamweaver and they are uh there were 12 fat quarters in this dreamweaver that it's still on their site so there's a purple with pink there's a pink with some purple and there is a pink with some yellow or orange in it here's orange and yellow and there is orange and red and there is green with some aqua and teal there's blue with light green in it light blue with green these are beautiful you guys they're very soft very nice this is kind of a tan with brown and there is brown with tan and there is gray with some darker gray light gray and dark gray and then dark gray and light gray so very very nice and if you need basics these are perfect for basics you know or blenders or anything that you might need to you know put things together in your quilts i'm i'm using a lot of these now i'm getting them for applique because you never know when you need something for applique that's going to work so oh and i wanted to let you guys know uh i got this one i ordered from creations i got a sweet little note thanks becky hope all is well with you and yours julie how nice is that they remembered that i was up there and did that video so very very nice let me go back to villa rosa design so they've got a ton of fabric on their site and she got in i've been wanting this she got in this library book fabric have you guys seen those library book quilts they look like bookcases okay now i ordered some of this from timeless treasures i ordered this from uh the only place i could find it was in the uk and so i thought i ordered a yard and uh no i ordered a half yard and i really couldn't do anything with it and i wasn't paying attention and i wasn't going to pay another 11 shipping to get it over here so i i was kind of out and then uh pat fryer from velarosa she let me know she got some in and i said send me two yards so uh you may be able to find this on her site but i know she is going to start shipping it out soon so she'll be advertising it and uh let's see what else had gone to okay so september 15th was just next week because what's today the ninth today's the night six days we start the santa table runner from sweet pea embroidery that's swpea.com they're down in australia and they've got a really cute little santa table runner and we're going to do that together kind of like we did the trapunto table runner a year or so ago from dime but we're going to do uh the santa table runner september 15th i'll probably shoot the video a day prior and that way it'll come out early enough on the 15th that you guys can look at it and see what we're doing and they started selling sweet pea started selling and this is called a wire fabric holder and i i liked it it looks like little buttons with a needle and thread can you see let me get it out of the wrapper i always do that but what's really cool is this came from pennsylvania so they've got a distributor here in the u.s they've got a distributor here in the u.s now so it looks like it goes on a wall you guys see so it's just flat metal i did not have to pay shipping from australia and it comes with two screws so if you wanted to mount something to a wall and it's got a little dowel in it so you could hang you know something that you make real cute i certainly can you know switch it out i didn't even think about it all i have around here are bricks i don't know where i'm gonna put it maybe i'll put it in our shipping room oh man y'all we have had the response on the power tools with thread merchandise has been just unbelievable thank you all so so much my husband can't keep his seam rippers stiletto combos in stock i just got in another shipment of black t-shirts with pink for a size xl i ordered a bunch of those those are back on the site oh and i got some 2x black as well the 2x pink and 3x black and pink are on back order but they are ordered and um shameless plug you guys so the lady the lady who owns villarosa designs her sister owns a company called fiberflies and fiberflies makes all kinds of cool stuff you can get in you know for your sewing habit or whatever well they reached out to me and they're the ones who digitized my logo and they came up with a vehicle decal and they do a lot of these they have a bunch of them and i'll tell you guys what i have had vehicle decals from this company on my car for the last gosh i don't know seven or eight years first i had the one that looked like a rotary cutter and it said this is how i roll uh my friendly says she had the same one and then i had the one it looks like a pair of shears and it says runs with and it's in it's in script runs with like it looks like runs with scissors that's been on my vehicle for geez i bought that back in 2016. very high quality stuff and i know some of you i even enjoy she's like oh jerry kill me if i put a vehicle decal but you know what you guys can put these in your sewing window so it just says power tools with thread this is what it looks like power tools with thread goes so something it's five and a half by four okay i've put i've put it on my car already i need to take a picture and put it in here i'll do an insert right here they're very high quality they'll go through car washes i mean they're great but you could even you know i i was thinking about it and i thought how you know everybody's so bummed and depressed because of the pandemic what if you're sitting at a light right and somebody's behind you and they look into your window and they see power tools with thread with a heart go sew something you know you could inspire somebody without even knowing it she might be sitting there saying i wonder where that old machine is and starting you know and get back into sewing and everything i think that's wonderful so when they reach out for me for this i was like well i don't know but we went ahead and did it and they came in and they're shipping so uh oh and if you are a quilt store and you would like to carry these i can't i don't think i can do the whole sale but i can put you in touch with the the uh fiberflies lady uh who does this and uh she has the wholesale ability to help you guys out so um i'd love for you to carry these i think that's kind of cool they're they're a good product okay speaking of quilt stores remember i had i was gonna make i'm making i'm not was going to make i am making that jelly roll rug and i had said i wanted to get the jelly roll jig well the little tool that i got one of those made in china things you know it came in in two days from amazon there is a quilt store in albuquerque and it's called hip stitch and they sent me a jelly roll jig look at this this is an official jelly roll jig and it's jerry's jelly roll jig and essentially it is a i'm going to open it up here essentially it is a bias tape maker okay it's got the same shape as the bias tape maker but what it has is a little tool first of all it's made by veterans so if you know veterans up there probably in albuquerque kirtland air force base is there i was stationed there from 90 to 92. so it comes with these tabs and i'll link to the video on how to make all this work but you this is what you use to fold your fabric over and get it and then you know get it through there and that's essentially what it is it's a bias tape maker you can iron it'll handle the heat and it has an unconditional lifetime guarantee unlike that thing i got from amazon but i got to tell you ellen thank you for your letter thank you for your gift uh ellen mcmahon she said dear becky i was watching your recent video and saw the jelly roll that joyce sent you and i learned you want to make a jelly roll rug using the jig well the jerry's jelly roll jig that's a tongue twister you guys was created by my friend and co-worker cindy bruner cindy worked with a friend to develop the jerry's jelly roll jig and now local veterans are manufacturing and packaging them for our shop she made a little video and she gave me the link on on to to watch that and i will link to that below this video it's a great tool and really makes sewing a rug easier and faster it's also very helpful in making jelly roll placemats and several jelly roll friendly purses and totes if you ever come to albuquerque please come and see us and you bet i will i loved albuquerque if i didn't retire here i was going to retire in albuquerque absolutely loved it but her shop it's hip stitch is the name of the shop okay and they were featured in the quilt sampler from spring and summer 2019 and she sent me a copy of the quilt sampler all right and she tagged her shop look at this place you guys you guys need to go if you are in the albuquerque area you need to go to this shop look if you didn't get this magazine you wouldn't know about it but you are veers you rv quilters okay i know you're out there just what a wonderful look at all the fabrics you guys just awesome store and uh this will definitely be one of the stops that we make my husband is set on buying a motor home when he turns 62 and gets his social security and we're going to take off then and i'll do a lot of quilt you know store shops come along with me it's just like i was doing before the pandemic but uh we are going to go to this stop and ellen thank you so so much for your invitation i can't wait to come and see you i just i'm looking at it even i know your stuff's probably changed out completely but it's so inspirational and everything so you guys you know if you are in the area or you're passing through make it a make it a sure stop to go to hip stitch if you've been there please leave a comment i'd love to hear anything you've got to tell us about it and that was so nice of you to send me that jig and i'm going to go ahead and finish making it because i'm still not completely finished with my strips i'm going to get rid of that other one and i'm going to start using the jerry's jelly roll jig and i'll show everybody doing it i'll make a video while i'm doing that so but thank you very very nice we have the nicest people in this community so nice oh also on the store we just got in and this is you guys there's some you all want so much stuff uh i got some coffee mugs okay and if you are right-handed or left-handed you get to see it both sides okay so i got coffee mugs in and uh then also usb sticks what did i do it's in oh it's in the machine do you see the machine all right so i know you guys don't want to see this this is the usb stick i've got all different colors and this way you have a dedicated place to keep all your embroidery designs but all right what else was i going to show you before i go show you the machine i want to give miss nora a very big thank you you are the sweetest thing so she had a spare book of uh coriander quilts for corey odor she had a spare and sent it to me thank you and i do not have this so you said i could give it away if i already had it but i'm not giving it away this is mine and uh she also sent me the new quick and easy block tool which is really great for uh making all different kinds of blocks so thank you thank you and a very nice uh note so very nice you're the sweetest thing thank you so much but okay and what else oh i don't know if you guys have seen on facebook the rip skirt uh it always you know it comes up in the ads all the time they're selling these things and i wanted to make one so i bought one so i can um do a pattern i'm going to make a pattern for it and make myself a bunch of them all right so what have we here the elephant in the room this is the new brother pr1055 it's their newest 10 needle and it is a lot like you know i wanted to say it's got the same technology as the luminaire but it doesn't have a projector in the only thing it doesn't do that the luminaire does that i can tell is project the image down okay but it even has a scanning mat with the magnets on it that it'll scan a line drawing and turn it into a you know an embroidery design so it's like the stellaire in that way maybe that's closer to it the uh screen i'd turn it on but you guys were having a thunderstorm i'm sorry um the screen all of the screens are almost identical to the luminaire and this morning you know it took me about an hour to thread the thing but once you get it threaded um it you know if you want to change them out it's really easy to just knot them in the back and pull them through but i had to check it out and i'm glad i did earlier this morning before the storm started and i had told you guys i was going to make a sweatshirt for my mom for christmas well here we go look at this this design is from urban threads and it just turned out awesome it's stitched out um like half an hour it said 26 minutes didn't have a bit of trouble another thing i wanted to show you guys and i've talked about this before i used the embroiders compass when i did this so i know they're not cheap but they're worth every penny when it comes to being able to do a project and have it come out right so i just turned it i just turned it to sweatshirts okay you turn this little arrow to the fabric i turned it to sweatshirt it says use no-show mesh or medium cutaway water soluble topping is optional and then down here it tells you the size of needle to use and then right here it says hoop with no show mesh for small designs or medium cutaway for larger design areas so this thing tells you exactly what you need to do you just and at both sides okay it's got a lot of information on here and look at that it turned out perfect i did exactly what it said i used no show mesh or i'm sorry i used cutaway on the back and i haven't finished yet um i'm going to i didn't have any black but i'm going to um iron on a featherweight on interfacing and put that over it so in it i have some black in that but that way the uh the stitches don't feel scratchy but yeah it turned out absolutely perfect okay and um i think this thing's awesome i i just loved it i mean i i was able to uh go in and rearrange manually change the thread colors that i was going to use because i i like to put my threads in a different order than what the designer says to do them the digitizer but everything just turned out perfect you guys i'm very very pleased with it can't wait to do i have another one to do for her but one of you had made a comment on the facebook page that now i wasn't going to be using the luminaire anymore oh no i'll still be doing a lot on the luminaire because there's a lot of things especially like in the hoop projects that it's just easier to do to me on a single needle as opposed to the multi but i will also be making uh videos using the multi needle very excited to get started with projects on that i bought it at all brands uh and they were wonderful to work with and to get it and i still have a couple more things to come in uh you know shipping on stuff is a little weird but uh the plus one i got the um the cap hoop the the one that rotates like that so you can do uh embroidery on hats my hugs he's all excited about embroidering hats for folks down in port o'connor it came with the playbook so and that is spiral bound which is very nice it's a big beautiful color spiral brown uh playbook but it just kind of runs you through exercises of things you can do to get you real familiar with the machine but i absolutely love this thing let me take you over there and take a peek at it i'm sorry it's so dark over here i've asked keith for another light up above but so here we are now the way i do my embroidery is i always use black on number one and white eye number two and then everything else are all the other colors but i always end up using both and i watched some videos on how to unbox this keith and i both did the cabinet we had for the janome and i did a trade-in for the janome and it that janome is on the all-brand site there's the hat hoops right there and then there are it came with four of these hoops and it also came with um another arm to do other kinds of embroidery i don't know what kind and it came with the grids it came with the grids and whatnot lots of books and let me see don't have any i wanted to show you guys i don't know where that other it came with the the the mat like on the luminaire with the little green magnets for this scanning and whatnot so it has a camera right under here and today i just used the snowman feature which is an auto find for centering and it is a wonderful feature that is used by brother and baby lock but i just love this thing all right one last thing we are starting the villarosa designs fa la la sew along it will be i think october 5th is the day i'm going to start and i'm using the same background fabric called blossom that i used that i'm using for the uh the bring home the christmas tree quilt couldn't get that out and while i was at all brands san antonio yesterday picking up the machine this calls for eight fat quarters so i went ahead of green so i went ahead and got my eight green fat quarters we are going rving this weekend and lisa and her husband are bringing their rv as well and we're going to stop at a couple of quilt stores i think in bandera and medina all right you guys that's all i had to talk to you about today i wish we could have done some sewing but and it's dark outside that storm oh well we're supposed to get some good rain the next couple of days hopefully it quits for the weekend so we can take our rv trip friend of ours daughter is showing steers so we're gonna go watch her show her steers so all right we will talk to you soon go sew something bye
