what's up everybody zach here with soya quilting today i'm going to show you how to make this quick card trick quilt let's get started for this quilt you're going to need two thirds a yard of your four different card colors and then one and two-thirds yards of your background color and that's going to make a twin size quilt first thing you want to do is cut two three and a half inch strips off of your four different colors and then what we're going to do here you can see on the overhead we're going to call this strip a strip b strip c strip b i'm going to take strips a and b and sew them together and then strip c and d and sew them together once you have these pieces sewn together the next step is to iron them out flat and then lay them right sides together from there you're going to cut them into three and a half inch pieces and be really careful not to separate those pieces [Music] now these ironed out i'm going to lay them right sides together and just match the seams up like that then with these lay on top of each other you're gonna go ahead and cut it out and do three and a half inch strips i'm gonna go ahead and cut them and then just clip them together so that i keep all my pieces where they need to be now that my pieces cut out i'm going to sew down the long edge of each one i'm just going to chain stitch all these together now i'll just cut these apart and iron them out flat [Music] [Music] now that i've got these pieces ironed out i'm going to go ahead and square them up to six inch squares [Music] once you have your four patches squared up the next step is to take your b and d fabrics and cut out a three and a quarter inch strip off of each so i've got my b and d fabrics here what i'm going to do is i'm just going to line it up so that it matches the color on the four patch fold it over just like that line the edges up and i'm going to sew it together then i'm going to do the exact same thing with the next one and just kind of chain stitch all of these squares onto the strip now you have all those sewn on the next step is to go ahead and just cut them all apart don't have to be too precise here just don't cut into your blocks obviously there we go all right next i'm going to iron these open and then i'm going to sew the other side onto its coordinating color so again just the same thing you did before i'm going to take now the gray side line these up make sure you are opposite the green don't sew this on this direction there we go and we'll just sew that on now you have those all sewn on you want to cut them all apart and then go ahead and square everything up [Music] do the next step is to make a sibling strip of your a fabric and of your c fabric and then also four three and a quarter inch strips of your background fabric what you're going to do is take your anc fabrics lay them out and then you're going to put your background fabric right sides together along each edge of these and sew them all together first one on now we'll go ahead and do the other side once you have your background fabrics on both sides of your six inch piece go ahead and do the exact same thing with your other six inch strip of fabric and then iron them both out now you have that ironed out you want to cut it into three and a quarter inch strips with the two strips cut out the next step is to sew them onto their corresponding sides and then iron it out [Music] now you have that all sewn together the next step is to take your background fabric and cut off a six inch strip of it and from there cut that down into some six inch squares once you have your six inch squares you want to cut them on the diagonal making two triangles next step is to take those triangles that you just made and you're going to lay them out onto your block and you can just lay them right sides together with your block and center the point with the seam in the middle my triangle's sewn on there the next step is to iron it out and then square everything up to 12 and a half inches so and there you have it the quick card trick quilt block if you like this pattern the link for is in the description below it includes the measurements for the sashing and borders and all of that if you enjoyed this video please hit that like button and subscribe to our channel and please share these videos with your friends that's it for this video i'm zach teaching how to select a pro and we'll see you next week here at soya [Music] quilting [Music] you
