you [Music] hark the herald angels sing glory to the newborn King peace on earth and mercy mild God and sinners reconciled building experience for me to be here with you and to see the wonderful things that God is using you to do in this district this district has influenced the work of God throughout the entire world in a very profound way and we certainly do thank God for it amen I want to thank brother tinnie and the District Board for inviting me to come because I do not it would be impossible for me in this moment to think of any time in my life that I've enjoyed more than I have these two days I have thoroughly enjoyed being here with you I'm a little bit overwhelmed at your response to be any men and I just can hardly take it in the hunger and appreciation of the ministry and we do a thank you for that and appreciate your response and we have been told by a number of ministers that the messages have been a blessing to you and we're so thankful to God for his help and strength praise the Lord appreciated all the hospitality that we've received I wished I did not have to go home I I must go I've been away for six weeks and I am pastoring with my father and my father is now 72 years old and he needs me at home and I've been away for six weeks I came home for the weekend got home in the middle of the service Friday night and preached Sunday night and slipped away on Monday without telling the church I wasn't gonna be gone and we have service tonight so if I can get back in there for church time tonight 95% I won't know that I've been gone where the Creole you're laughing like you've done that before amen I have one prayer request I have to go as far as New Orleans or Royale the last time I got on an airplane like it was up in Colorado Springs Colorado and with the Colorado Springs and there was a hippie van got on too and they had so much equipment you would not believe baseballs and all kinds of things and they loaded that train to the gills in fact they took the bass viol right on and the fellow the plate had had to hold it on his lap and finally the the pilot was ready to go and he announced over the PA of that airplane intercom he said well I think we're ready to go he says we've got a cat on this plane we've got a bass viol and a fat man [Laughter] [Laughter] so I've got to do it all over again in a few minutes well we'll take a look at some of these questions and actually there wasn't too many handed to me there was some but I did hear some questions orally that I made mental note of and we'll just kind of hurry through some of these things and perhaps we can be a little more help to you on the subject of Prayer I'm sure that my message last night raised some questions in your heart as well as may be answering some we'll just kind of take these in an order that will give a little consistency to the to the I the thoughts that we will use to answer these questions I made a note of them here first question because the deep intercessory Burton was not felt tonight to the extent of long intercession does this mean that we do not have the ministry I would say that last night was a total different situation where we were being introduced some of us being introduced perhaps to intercessory prayer others have had it for a long time and and maybe got an explanation of what they've already felt and several of you have said that to me but last night there was no particular point in the issue of interceding for except just to make ourselves available unto God so the extent of prayer last night would really have nothing to do with whether we received a burden or not another thing is that when you began to experience the ministry and let me emphasize there is a Ministry of intercession there are those who are given to a ministry of intercession there's others who occasionally feel it I think we all should all feel intercession at one time or another it's just like the laity in our church maybe in a lifetime the anointing of the Lord will come upon some man or some sister and they'll be invited to speak and they'll almost preach but maybe that'll just be a one-time thing that'll never happen again and so it is with intercession for south on the other hand there are those who receive a ministry of intercession in such a case Golf is not going to Lane extreme heavy burdens upon you to start with God is more wise than that but you exercise yourself and strengthen yourself into the position that you can handle severe critical situations in prayer it's kind of like exercise you know if the doctor would tell me I needed to exercise I'm sure he wouldn't but but if he did well I wouldn't start with a hundred push-ups I'd start wiggling my little finger on the right hand a hundred times and they'd be there blink my left eye is the way we would start and so it is in the in the work of the Lord we don't start with heavy heavy cases amen anytime I don't fully answer one of these questions you might raise your hand and I'll try to enlarge upon the next question is intercessory prayer for everyone no it is not definitely not it's like calling to the the ministry and when we throw it out to everybody it's just like we would preach the burden for souls for preaching of the gospel everyone is not going to be able to respond to that call I do not believe now I believe intercession everyone should experience it one time or another but I do not feel that everyone should even seek for a gift of intercession for instance if you have a serious heart problem it will be very difficult for you to practice a ministry of of intercession because it is a very hard strain on your body we'll talk about that a little bit later amen can intercession last for a long time yes it can however we had a wonderful word from the Lord last night for the Creole give the interpretation that the Lord would answer your prayers one thing that I noticed in that message that was emphasized was faith and the name of Jesus Christ this is so vital to getting prayers answered of any nature is faith that God is going to answer the prayer and being very positive in your prayers but it can last for a long time the example I used in Daniel chapter 10 lasted for 21 days 21 days and it can last quite some time I remember a young man called me one or his wife called me when I was in Washington DC visiting with the district superintendent there brother Kelly in the conference and stayed with him in his local church over Sunday and one Sunday afternoon I got a call from a sister in the church that I was pastoring and she said spoke of her husband that he had been in intercession for a day and a half and that he had become very very sick and that he was vomiting and he had developed diarrhea and he could hardly stop and I told her to emphasize to him whatever he had a hold of you keep a hold of it I don't know what the name of God you got a hold out but I will help you and I give full attention to his situation and prayer and assisted him we can't indeed it assist each other I was so moved by what the Lord directed brother tinning to do here last night in bringing pastors together to pray if we can have a day of conference of of just fasting and praying together even more it would it's so effective remember the scripture says once you put a thousand to flight and two should put ten thousand to flight there is there's great great benefit in being together in pray and I was actually able though I was 300 miles away from that young man I was able to help him to press through the critical situation that he was praying about and about three hours later his wife called me again and told me that his burden had lifted I have no idea what he had a hold of or what he was praying about maybe someone here in Louisiana that's the wonderful thing about this glorious ministry is that God is and so can use us that we can reach so far praise the Lord praise the Lord amen next question that I heard was will God always answer prayer yes I believe he always answers our prayers but he may not always answer them in the way that we want them answer remember sister Helen cold which is my stepmother came home from visiting her brother who happens to be in the world of millionaire and a very successful businessman and he's a backslider he one time had an experience with God and she had just visited Heilmann she came home to the Parkersburg Church so deeply bertin for her brother and she said I won't discharge to play well instantly I felt a tremendous burden for her brother and immediately went into a prayer of intercession for him and it moved the whole church and the whole church prayed two days later we got a telegram and a telephone call that he had had a massive cordon Airy heart attack and she just went to pieces she got up to the church he said oh my god let's pray I said wait a minute we've already done that you said for us to pray and we've already prayed and God has answered your prayer that's exactly what it's going to take for that millionaires for God to get that millionaire's attention and while he was in intensive care he came through speaking in other tongues as a Spirit of God give the utterance I said just a man we've already prayed why it's already answered your prayer you didn't like the answer but there it is ofttimes God'll answer our prayers and then we pray God answers away we have trouble with some sage and holy pray God do stuff with him and God does something with them they come crying to us and we pray their request and pray them out of it and they go right back to their old tricks here's another question someone said this I have enjoyed your laughter but sometimes it happens at the most unexpected times well I think my laughter is one of the most important secrets that I have ever found we have got to somehow remain human no matter of the gifts of God anointing of the Lord we have got to remain human and we've got to be able to give God the glory for what he does see what God does anything through me nobody think about giving me credit that would never occurred to them they know God had to do it and sometimes the most important obstacle we have in the church is pride we have to be very cautious of a pride and some of the people that's the most given to pride his intercessors they become super spiritual and nobody can pasture them I want you to know that an intercessor must be under the authority of the elders the pastor their ministry must be subject to him and use through and in cooperation with his ministry if it is in competition with the pastor then it'd be far better that she wasn't even in that church because you'll cause more havoc you cause more trouble and more friction and then then that good that you will accomplish I've pastored such a woman and if it had not have been for my experience and these things I would have just fellowshipped her I would have been able to handle her but somehow I was able to understand her she she was truly an intercessor tremendously used of God and when she was being used of God in intercession you couldn't want to find her same well when she wasn't being used of God you couldn't have had a worse one because she would come into the service with her lip of hanging down to her knees and she would be so sanctimonious that if someone offered to shake hands with her why it was as if they were so brazenly ball to shake hands with an intercessor and she would bring such a bad spirit in the meeting and and an intercessor has a weighty spirit and they you take some people can come into your church and they can do anything or say anything or feel anything and it has no effect whatsoever because they're just as light as a feather spiritually speaking but an intercessor is heaven and they come in and they start dragging their feet you're going to have a hard time having a good in service they'll drag that service right down to the ground and sometimes they can develop and this lady was extremely extremely sensitive I remember one time I was invited to visit doctor's home in Wheeling West Virginia he was interested in the truth and his wife was a socialite and when she realized who I was when I came to her home the only way I could possibly describe her reaction is that she just went crazy absolutely insane she was so offended in her husband that he would invite a Pentecostal preacher to her home she was at first of all extremely rude with me he was so gentle and so glad I've got so sorry fidelity but she was be let me tell you she was me and she got worse because he finally got up enough courage to it bite me into the living room and we sat down and the truth lit in on him just broke on him I began talking to him about baptism in Jesus name and he said I see that and when he said I see that she came screeching into the room just scratching and ordered me out of the house and ordered him out of the house so we thought rather than get killed we just go and we got out in the driveway close to my car and he was he was trying to apologizing or he was humiliated him and about that time the dog got in the doorway and she kicked that and she screamed in him you get in this house and I said I just drove around the block or two and there was a telephone there and I stopped and tried to call this little sister because I knew she'd pray I could call her at 3 o'clock in the morning and it just delight her she would be absolutely delighted and I woke her out of her sleep and get her bread and I called and her phone was busy I called two or three times and finally I got through and she says what's the matter brother Cole I'm trying to call you her phone was busy because she's trying to call me she's sensing the spirit that something was wrong she was just that sensitive when God was using her in intercession but she was full of pride and let me tell you she was hard to pasture she really was and she'd get visions and all kinds of things and she called up certain same saying I seen so-and-so and Doon was about to fall on you and and then just go to pieces they called me and they'd be screaming his tribe because of something she said to them I finally convinced her I finally convinced her when God shows you something you tell me and don't you tell nobody else and then if I think they should know it I'll tell them if I don't I won't and if I don't don't you tell her and she finally agreed to that after a long struggle for he's the Lord and that my point is this that we must remain human we must give God the glory and we must not do things just to bring honor to ourselves I remember one time I had an appointment to eat with someone a minister and he was mightily mightily mightily used in that tough words it was astounding the way God used him and so according to the appointment when the meeting was over I went to him and I said house you ready to go eat and he looked at me and said hee hee and to what God's done here today I said baloney he wanted one thing to do something to heap honor upon himself but what God had done what is the point of fasting after God's already done it can only be one purpose it only be one purpose and I think you've all figured it out I I've been fasting for years you know that there's - hey get things done fasting and praying and feasting and believing [Laughter] [Music] just be sure you do the first foot first [Laughter] hey man here's a one that's been handed to me my wife desires a life of intercession however she said every time she hears us someone that fulfills his life as a company accompany with tragedy or broken health cetera she fears that how can I help her in this I feel that this is a very important question very vital and very important I wished I'd have known what I know now a few years ago any gift from God has to be governed the scripture says the spirit of a prophet is subject to a prophet and any one of the preachers here could preach ten times a day but they wouldn't last very long if they did there has to be a governing factor and we have to take into consideration our health and the preservation of our health I might add quickly you cannot govern a gift that you don't add most people that's worrying about this don't have to worry because they never pray but once a year and it's not for you but for those that truly have a Ministry of intercession there must be a governing factor there this is something that I did not know I had a little inkling of it I had a little tiny insight of it when we were doing missionary evangelism and my wife was an intercessor I have seen her go to services I remember one occasion where 74 people received the Holy Ghost in a single service in one single local church 74 people received the Holy Ghost but because we made a mistake we made a mistake or there would have been way over a hundred received the Holy Ghost and my wife spent the night in prayer seemed to be no matter how many would get the Holy Ghost it was always hours hours powers and my wife completely smashed her health I carried her to the doctors I've mentioned it last night they thought she had had a cerebral hemorrhage and they diagnosed her case is dying with a broken heart and this is one thing that bothers me a great deal I have a tremendous sense of guilt concerning my wife she has been recovering now for eight nine years and she has regained some of her health but Jenna intercession is something that must be governed this is not something that you can do every day every day every day every day and we have a we get such a sense of burden you know and we were doing missionary evangelism I can't physically do it anymore it's just impossible absolutely impossible for me but a few years ago it was just normal for me to go to two churches a day one in the morning one evening or three one in the morning one the afternoon one the evening and sleep on the church floor that night and maybe many times I've slept with 18 20 people in the room you know you have to be careful who in the world you're sleeping by anybody sleep by the wrong woman all kinds of circumstances amen and just totally I can't do that anymore it's impossible I cannot travel like that one service a day is about all I can have unless it's conditions like this and and so it is with intercession we have to determine what we're physically able to do and simply do not yes absolutely turn me off and protects your health now that may be some the heart for you to spiritually digest but that's my opinion and I really feel like it's true let me show you why now when we shout and worship we are gaining strength when you worship God there is a healing process going on in your mind and your body your mind and your body is being healed when you worship the Lord you shall worship sing listen to folks like the bib sing and this is a healing process but when you are making intercession it is the opposite death is working in your body it really is let me read you some scriptures turn with me to death it is the opposite death is working in your body it really is let me read you some scriptures turn with me to Daniel chapter 10 and verse 8 the same chapter and earlier verse we did not read last night Daniel chapter 10 and verse 8 it reads like this this is during his time of 21 days of intercession therefore was I left alone first of all intercession will make you a loner and you will feel very very alone you can come to a conference and be surrounded by thousands of people and you feel like you're all by yourself off times and I saw this great vision and there remains no strength everyone say no strength no strength in me well my coming was turned into me into corruption that I retained no strength look quickly that second Corinthians at second corinthians the fourth chapter and verse 10 11 and 12 kasa Paul writing to the Corinthian church he said always burying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body for we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus sake that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh amen Isaiah said it like this Isaiah chapter 53 and verse 12 therefore will I divide him a portion with the great and he shall divide the spoil with strong because he hath poured out his soul unto death but one say unto death because he has poured out his soul unto death and he was numbered with the transgressors he bare the sin of many and made intercession or the trance lessers death is working in your body every minute that your making intercession and for that reason for that reason there must be a governing factor you must not just do something like that every single day if you are you're headed for a breakdown of your heart and your blood pressure system and your kidneys and it'll affect your entire body amen brother barnes come up here and set with me please help me answer the question praise the Lord this man taught me half of everything I know praise the Lord appreciating someone asks the question that that I don't think that's important enough we'll have to pass it by our time is getting away from us you know axiality prayer is unlocking the prison door of souls thus wouldn't we best need to necessarily pray this overwhelms me and I feel exhausted that's exactly the purpose of these meetings we need more help can you say Amen it is an exhausting thing is it possible for Satan to attack you with fear while you are praying and being burden all very definitely Satan will attack you especially once you become tired in a time that you are tired beware the Satan will attacked you and and speak to you very difficulty someone has asked sometimes wood deep in prayer and intercession I have come to a point of forcibly speaking with tongues very forcibly what is the meaning of that I experienced that on several occasions at one time in Georgia I was at a church and there was a spirit of intercession came upon the church and one sister became very deep in prayer and speaking tongues and then her tongues narrowed down to just a short sentence a very short sentence and it was extremely powerful and she was doing her fist this way every time she would speak it to me do that you could tell it was extremely forceful and I asked the Lord to let me understand what she was saying so that I would understand that experience and she was rebuking a satanic power that had attacked in a church about 400 miles from her she was actually speaking and addressing a devil spirit that had come in on a church she was rebuking that spirit in the Spirit of the Lord amen so in my opinion that's exactly what that is when that happens why do we have to pray so hard to move God the answer is we do not pray hard to move God we pray hard to penetrate the atmosphere that is an obstruction between us and God this demonic system the hard praying is to penetrate that God is instantly moved the angel of the Lord said to Daniel your prayer was heard the first day you prayed it and we've been wrestling with the Prince of Persia for 21 days to get to you it's that barrier that set barrier not God God hears us but there is a barrier there of times that we have to pray through and of course when you have gained power over the Prince of your County in your state in your city and those prayers can be answered much more quick because that barrier is already subdued amen praise God anytime that I don't fully answer a question or you'd like more comment or one of these brother would like to say something please stop me praise God someone has asked can one person conquer the prints of a city yes I think so but it's a real battle there is strength in unity especially when a husband and wife is bound together in prayer and let me say here while I'm thinking of it I don't think I have such a question but let me say this any creature that does not have at least one intercessor on his team is in trouble every pastor every evangelist every body that's doing the work of the Lord and the capacity of a minister and preacher needs somebody making intercession for him continuously he-man could be a wife could be a mother when my mother died my mother was an intercessor and she adored her son and and she prayed for me continuously and when my mother died it so traumatically changed my life I almost did not recover because her paralyzed stopped I did not have that prayer support of my mother and she held me up every day every pastor every preacher every evangelist every official is right needs somebody that is balm Barney hell in the name of Jesus for them we cannot always do it ourselves you cannot keep the countenance on your face that have passed their needs pastor has to keep smiling has to keep his cool so to speak amen and you cannot counsel with people and deal with problems all day long and and answer the phone and even from everything to heart attacks to given somebody a telephone number that they could get from information and you can't go through that all day long and be an intercessor I can't and so you need somebody to intercede for you do I hear an amen from the preachers praise God praise God praise the Lord someone has asked how do I began to pray an intercessory prayer began by worshipping began by worshiping and then get your total attention we might make a note of these get your total attention on the Lord move into a realm of speaking with tongues that is not intercession but that is the process the beginning worship concentration of the Lord and and then began speaking with times and then as you began to speak with times submit yourself to the Lord totally absolutely let your shoulders drop submit your body to the Spirit of the Lord and let that Spirit of God move deep into your soul the Bible speaks as a woman travaileth with child there will actually be and I find a little difficult to explain when I get to this point but there is actual a physical contraction in your body when you reach a depth of intercession there is a pulling down there is an actual contraction and strength energy using in your body that begins to take place and then it begins to flow there was no effort it's it's just like when the pain began to contractions and a woman to give birth once they began it's not something that you asked for anymore it's just automatic it just automatically comes and I have experienced that in intercession that it will come as a contraction and release itself there is an actual physical movement of your body that you will feel in intercession when you are actually in the depth of intercession amen and of course then that has to be associated with a bird someone has asked the question do you know what you're praying about not if you have only the Ministry of intercession if you understand what you're praying about it comes under a different heading maybe the working of knowledge or discerning of spirits and and these other areas and gifts that has to be involved for you to know what you're praying about when it's so maybe so mystical or so far away you if you have only the Ministry of intercession it's very likely that you will not know what you are praying about but you have to associate yourself with a bird you may not know what it's about but thank God for the effectiveness of it God knows what it's all about and I tell you when when the Lord comes the scripture says they that are first shall be last and those that are last shall be first and I think perhaps the interpretation of that is there's going to be some unknowing people that were intercessors that have saved whole and we think they're just some ordinary little scene in the church and they have saved perhaps whole nations with their intercession would that be great to know about that praise God we are to pray before we utter the words why is it necessary for us to tell him our needs or the needs of others you understand the question God already knows everything so why is it important for us to pray you say this is perhaps the hardest question I've ever been asked in my life this is my answer first of all I think there is great wisdom in the mystery of God in prayer because in causing us to pray for others it is the greatest tool in which we become christ-like we become more like the Lord in our concern and compassion and burden for others amen and and just as pain is needed in the body to protect us I have a sensitive system in my body as the same as you do when I touch a hot stove I will jerk my hand away because I feel pain I could I could hate that pain but that pain keeps me from destroying my hand and so the necessity of prayer becomes a protection to us as pain in our body is a protection to us the human power the human tongue is a strange and powerful thing it's amazing that God chose speaking in tongues as the evidence of his spirit God judges us by our time I say God judges us by our tongue there is something about the tongue that is so mystical amen it's interesting to know that the very center of the brain is the control center of pain and it's also identically the same spot in your brain controls your speech exactly and the human voice is something that is very strange and mystical we can command animals we can command the horse or a dog or cow with our voice something I heard brother Barnes preached years ago he took the text speak to the mountain so many times we ask God to do things that we can do simply by speaking it ourselves I remember one time I was going to preach that same tax and I was gonna use what you taught me to point you to my church in Wheeling I think that's all right you hear a sermon preached at the own church if you don't preach it all over so I go preaching sermons he's the Lord yes so just about church time about two hours before church time it started snowing and if you know anything about West Virginia we don't have anything but mountains as though such as a flat there's more flatland here on this kempt and there is the whole state of West Virginia and our church was right on the highest mountain on route 70 we was right at an intersection an exit on route 70 out of Wheeling but it was right on the side of a mountain and had two acres had just been bulldozed right on the side of that mountain and it started snowing and it snows our and you know if you don't have no Sunday night service there's no time [Laughter] but the phone started ringing and the sage started saying you can't get there brother Cole we can't get there and of course I had a little apartment in the church and I decided well I'm just gonna check these Saints out and see whether they get here or not so I got in my car and I started down that hill and I'm not kidding you I've seen six tractor-trailer trucks turn up side down and I began to think hey they couldn't get him and I had to go back up that hill and I turned around I had a station wagon it was the best thing in the snow I've ever had in my life and I was able to go up the hill I passed trucks and cars I was able to go but it was snowing so hard that I couldn't see more than ten feet in front of the car and I was having a hard time getting back to the church up that hill and I thought well tonight I was going to preach on brother barn just text speak to the mountain and I thought well now if I was going to tell those people the truth I can speak to the snow and I'm honest I will not change this testimony one jot or tittle I was one mile from the exit and I said snow I command you to stop in Jesus name and before I got to the exit there was not a flake in this guy I don't understand it but it works hallelujah ha ha ha breathe God I didn't ask God to stop it I just spoke to this note praise the Lord prayer is a powerful thing powerful thing amen hallelujah well I think my time is is gone there's men on this platform that could have answered every one of these questions better than I have and maybe one of them will continue here into the violent amen it's been a joy to be with you I have thoroughly enjoyed being with you don't forget the power of prayer somebody asks the question I'll hardly answer it what about if you're in a restaurant or driving and this and someone asks this question I think this is very vital what is a signal to prime it is a depression of the Spirit intercession the trigger the signal to pray enter Cecily is a depression of the spirit a lot of you may be taking tranquilizers when you should be praying depression of the Spirit it'll depress you you'll feel lonely you feel isolated you feel what is wrong that's a time that's God's signal for you to pray or something it's a sense of feeling of something being wrong amen and if you're in a restaurant or fixing your car baking a cake or something in the name of God stop whatever you're doing get somewhere and get a hold of God I'll never forget brother sysm coming home one time and he keeps records of everything under the Sun he knows what he did at ten o'clock ten years ago and and some lady came to him and said brother sysm on such and such a day I felt so burdened I was running the vacuum cleaner in my living room and and suddenly there was such a burden came upon me she was a wealthy lady and beautiful big living room she had a grand piano in her living room and she said finally I got down on the floor and took a hold of the leg of the grand piano in my living room and I held on for you it was for you and he got out his books you know and went through them and and he said oh my god woman on that very day for the Dom Walla my wife and myself was on a bus coming down the side of a mountain as the brakes give away it somehow that driver had enough sense to throw that car up the side of the hill and the and that bus started backwards and there was a precipice over a hundred feet dropped on the other side of the road a bus started rolling back and there was a little tree that had been cut off clunk into the bottom of that bus and held that bus till we got off and then when that we all got off the bus lifted up and rolled backwards and fell over that cliff and exploded on the day what if you don't want to sweep the floor first respond instantly whatever you're doing if you have to throw the cake away well how do you know what you've done it'll be worth more than a thousand kicks can you say hey man I've got to go god bless you pray that I'll get a seat on that thing you know why Jesus went to Calvary two reasons first he was persuaded that his dying would shed blood that was powerful enough to forgive the worst person you ready and then he was persuaded that death wasn't powerful enough to hold it destroy this temple and in three days I'm gonna raise it back up you know why we got a church and I'm persuaded I'll build my church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it if God is persuaded why don't you get persuaded yeah let's say it again ready the three the three greatest words in life [Applause] thank you it's not God is love its I am persuaded God loves me it's not God is able to heal its I appreciated God will heal me we've had such moves of the Holy Ghost here and yet somehow God is said to my heart tell these people the greatest thing they'll get out of this whole conference is to walk out of here with an innate persuasion so I got a word for you some of you got prayed for some of you got anointed somebody got spit all over somebody slapped you round and you didn't get your healing the Lord told me to tell you tell my people sometimes my healing comes as a seed and they want a full harvest that's a miracle but miracles are not always given to people but healing comes as a seed what does that be you better be persuaded the seed can be stolen
