Quest Pro Touch Controllers DRIFT - can it be fixed?

what's up it's arzivalvr and it happened what happens if and when one of these controllers or both get the drift am I gonna have to spend hundreds of dollars just to replace one lately I noticed that my avatar and VR would always have a hard time walking forward and I would drop things left and right and you know having been a quest user since like 2016 I knew it could only mean one thing the drift to prove I wasn't going crazy I checked the calibration of my left controller and as you can see there is some pullback going on in the first quadrant at this point and this point so with my old Oculus headsets whenever the controller drift got really bad and I know this is bad but what I used to do was just buy a replacement for that controller because I didn't know any better but I certainly cannot and will not do the same for the quest Pro Touch controllers because number one these shirts are expensive at 300 bucks that's like 30 of the price of the entire headset so no definitely not and number two I can just buy a left or a right replacement controller for the touch Pro I would have to buy a whole new pair which seems like a waste so I looked a few Solutions up online apparently you can just get one of these cleaners um it's something that people have been using for many years to fix their controller drifts and it only cost ten dollars so I ordered one and tried it okay so after one spray this is the result the controller was still drifting and at this point I wasn't sure but it's actually seemed a little worse so I spray again a second time and this is what happened after at this point I was thinking I had completely messed up my controller as you can see the drift is now happening almost all around and the pullback is much much worse than before so then I try a different method I saw online that apparently if you take a plastic straw and squeeze the end and kind of insert it and you know where the joystick is and blow on it that that would help um spoiler alert it didn't work for me so at this point I'm thinking I'm screwed my controllers messed up so I just gave it a rest and you know had dinner um I didn't touch it for about 30 minutes and you know I was kind of accepting the fact that I had just basically Broke My Controller but I'm happy to say that this video actually has a happy ending so after about 30 minutes of not touching the controller I try one more time and voila the drift is suddenly gone I think what happened was it just needed some time for the spray to fully dry especially since I sprayed twice but in any case I'm super happy that the drift was fixed because number one I can use my controller again and number two I no longer need to spend 300 on a new pair of controllers because with everything releasing this year you know I'm gonna need to save every single dollar possible so for research purposes well there you have it we fixed the drift on the touch Pro controllers using the WD-40 specialist contact cleaner I do have to make a disclaimer about safety though with the older models of the quest controllers you could take the battery out first and it was recommended to do so before spraying with anything but with the touch Pro controllers you can't take the battery out at least not without taking the whole controller apart with the camera and the charging port around it you really want to be careful where you're spraying because you don't want to mess it up and as a matter of fact if you do this don't even plug your controller to charge for you know maybe a day if you can afford to wait just to really make sure that the contact cleaner dries before you plug your controller in now keep in mind this is the contact cleaner specifically designed for electronics so you don't want to use the regular kind because apparently that would just ruin whatever device you're trying to fix so make sure you get the one that's safe for electronics but I just wanted to share what worked for me and if you have the same issue and I'm really hoping that you don't but if you have the same issue maybe this is something that could work for you too there you have it if you got something out of this video make sure to hit like And subscribe and join our community of XR enthusiasts so you can stay up to date whenever I post a new video
