Q&A with Hank & John Green

hello and welcome to good mythical more we've got what does anybody gotta be mad at me if I just do this my nose hurts it's a little red and squished alright okay hello hello and welcome to good mythical more its Hank and John Green and I'm a donkey nose forehead we're gonna answer some of your questions thanks to everybody who said any questions Hank can I first asked you this question which comes from cable no Sam how could I remember facts better duh you gotta have a fact tree what a fact tree well what's that like imagine you got a box full of facts uh-huh and you all just want to put them in your head just like got a pile in there in a box yeah but like it's like a Christmas ornaments and Christmas trees yeah like you can't just like have a box of Christmas ornaments you have to have a Christmas tree to put the ornaments on so I have found that you have to build a fact tree out of not just understanding of the facts but of the context around the facts and here are facts I'll make much more sense so you build that fact tree how's that any individual fact is pretty much useless except for a one random fact about every year from 1900 until 2000 so that whenever somebody at a restaurant or at like a a place says it's gonna be there's gonna be 1922 and that's how much you need to pay them then you can say something interesting that happened in 1922 I almost got divorced we should restart the show hey John how can I control the alternate universe I lead in my eye oh I don't want to answer this one because I'm worried that that kid actually has a right I just get in trouble with disassociative thinking disorders because of my own life hey John yeah how do you make up with your siblings after a fight by by which I mean me poorly hey can I don't fight very often anymore we used to fight a lot as kids but we don't fight very often anymore and when we do fight we usually call each other and apologize almost immediately right well we can can't cause problems we need this to be stable I mean so did oasis and they hate each other so I think you can have arguments that are big problems but yeah I mean we have a shared base of values and we try to always remember that and also to be kind to each other and think about each other as a person totally and and recognize that there's something bigger and more important than the argument you're having which is your relationship yeah meaningful sometimes the argument is very important and I'm still right about it we don't fit in here right now this question comes from petunia F who says I have about 700,000 book ideas how do I choose which one and how do I say focused on the one that I choose I don't know focus is not my strong suit it's true that's true the other thing about having a fight with your brother is that you just have to understand what they're not good at and just poke in that place over and over again until they break okay very bad advice I don't I I have found that it's hard and that is a and like but that's okay to recognize that it's hard to do a thing and then it is do it I think if you have 700,000 book ideas you probably might just have one book idea that has seven hundred thousand different things in it which is possible yeah just take three of your favorites and make them into one book because then it's gonna be three times as good take 70 of your favorites and make them into one thing I never have like a big idea for books like I never had like an idea like wizards go to high school like I've never had like a good high concept idea like that my ideas are always like tiny like a lot of my favorite books are like that though like so I think you can have anyway yeah that's not a good answer you you uh yeah yeah hey John how can I travel dimensions oh you can travel through three dimensions really easily by moving your body that's what I like to do I find and then sort of the fourth dimension of time that you also cannot cease traveling through yeah as much as we might like to on the inexorable march to oblivion garloo gladly went there we got to bring that we got to bring our message to the people you are here for only a little while thanks for coming to good mythical morning I thought this question was what is your advice for people in the adult entertainment world and I was like very limited.i like not a ton of experience and also confused why that would made them apply that question so che in or on a related note John what o saw on your on a related note John why do your books always involve someone dying thank you for that question grace but don't I guess you have not read my book an abundance of katherines don't worry apparently it's because the ones there no one dies don't do as well yeah exactly people don't like them it's not my fault I'm doing my part by writing them grace no I don't know I am interested in the I guess the problem like the big problems and death it's kind of one of the bigger ones at least for me clearly yeah what's the first one what are you what are your favorite and most annoying oh that's a great question okay Hank Cheryl asks what are your favorite and most annoying things about each other hmm I'm not gonna tell you my favorite thing about John because it'll be too sappy and not funny let's start with most annoying that's what I was okay what's you do me Hank has a lot of ideas and it's like putting around John and dragging them into a versus me to go do things have a good time and a new idea I remember one time one time Hank called me and he was like I have the best idea I've ever had and I was like what is it and he was like okay you know when you go to a 3d movie get a headache and I was like yeah and he was like I've invented 2d glasses that render three-dimensional movies in a crisp two dimensions I was like what and he was like 2d glasses John it is the future it is the biggest idea I have ever and I was like Hank no offense but that idea is horrible so it was the only thing that makes ever done that I did not like invest in or agree to be part of and 2d glasses is an absolute juggernaut if I'm a juggernaut as modestly successful how many copies of those dumb glasses have you sold thousands and thousands tens of thousands oh my god that is so much growing think about Hecky invented 2d glasses my favorite thing about Hank is also that he has a lot of ideas yeah I yeah one of one of the best things about our partnership as brothers is that like we rain each other in in ways yeah and so like there are those weird dichotomies where it's like the things that I like about you are also the things that I that I am annoyed by right and I really do feel like I need your voice in my head to prevent me from being an idiot that's kind of
