is obedient because it's really it pokes him in the eye what are some of the glorious rewards of keeping god's law it's a blessing god is not trying to make our lives difficult sin brings misery these things i've spoken to you that your joy might remain in you and that your joy might be full god wants us to have joy but happy is he who keeps the law god doesn't say it's a burden it's a blessing great peace have those that love thy law and nothing will offend them this is the promise of god you know i remember hearing a story about a man that was driving through the suburbs and he was going through an area where the speed limit was like 15 miles an hour and he's driving 45 miles an hour and he went zooming through an intersection police car pulled in behind him turned on his lights and he said oh man no he pulled over as he saw the policeman in his rearview mirror get out of the car he recognized him he thought i think that guy goes to my church maybe he'll let me off the hook he came up and he rolls down his window he says hey john how you doing sorry i was going a little bit fast and he said can i have your license oh come on man he said i just i was hurry i was late for work can't you let me off this time it's going to make my life really difficult and i'm just going to be later still and he said let me see your license and he got mad and he pulled out his license and he handed it to him he went back to his car and he started riding he was sitting there steaming and fuming and he came back and uh yeah at this point he had just rolled his window up but that far and the policeman tossed in his license and the ticket and the policeman pulled away and the guy opened his wallet put his license in and he opened up the ticket and he realized it wasn't a ticket he had taken a piece of paper and he'd written a note on it and it said fred said i lost my three-year-old daughter two years ago to someone speeding said i'm really struggling to forgive them maybe if i let you off this time it'll make it easier for me how do you think he felt after that when he said wow that guy lost his child because of a speeder and then he says slow down slow down you know when we see how much jesus has given that we might be forgiven then it makes it easier for us to obey him god wants us to obey because he loves us he wants us to obey because it will ultimately make us happy the devil was cast out of heaven for sinning we are not going to go into heaven deliberately sinning jesus came not to save us in our sins but the angel said he came to save us from our sins he died for our sins now we're all guilty of sin and when you come to the lord there's a learning process but he will justify you tonight if you have not accepted jesus he will wash away your sinful record of your whole life then he'll give you his spirit and power to learn to do good and walk in a newness of life there will be some ups and downs but he will teach you to obey that same god that helped me in my life and i'll tell you more about this saturday morning he will help you and so that you could be a new creature and have the joy of the lord friends we want to pray with you that you might have that experience don't go anywhere because after our prayer we're going to be doing more bible questions father in heaven it's pretty clear from your word that you want us to not only be hears but doers of your word i pray that you'll bless each person that is here and those that are watching whether they're watching on satellite television or the internet that your spirit will speak to their hearts right now and they will choose to surrender their lives to you and allow you to wash away their sins fill their hearts with love and give them that new birth that they might walk in a newness of life we thank you and pray in jesus name amen amen friends don't go we're going to come back in just a few minutes answer your bible questions you can send
