the tent itself is made by a guy called jumper home on facebook he makes a selection of different types of pyramid tent and this is a 1.5 p or the one and a half person and it has an integrated in our nest or our inner section and i'm really keen to see what it's like and i weighed this on the scales at my house and it's coming in about 650 grams including the stuff sack now this same guy jumper home had made my new tent pegs which are these these carbon fiber stakes and i bought these with my own money and i got a selection of different lengths and you can get them in 15 centimeters 20 centimeters and 300 centimeters and yes they're really lightweight now the 12 that i've got i actually bought 12 off with a selection of the different lengths i weighed these on my scales at 133 grams for 12 stakes and so far they've been very very good matter of fact when i was on my camp on the west highland way and i mentioned that in my last video that i had to hammer one of these into the ground because of the rocks underneath and they got a right good bashing and it's held up great considering what it's made from so i'm really enjoying using these and i'm hoping to do a pool test at some point in the future just to see how they compare especially these bad boys at 30 centimeters so we'll get a tense up now and see what it's like before the rain starts this tent i'm sure sets up at a height of 140 centimeters which is right on the limits of my comfordell trekking pole this is a very nice color of dcf it's like a dark silver or darkish gray i do know that the color i was hoping to maybe get one made out of as black cuban fibre because it's even darker than this and this is actually very nice looking and i prefer this to the camouflage and that was the reason i had sold my dual mid some people prefer the camouflage i can understand why but for me taking photographs of the tent in the mountains i prefer a colour like this but that is just my choice and so far it looks a very nice tent i will add that this tent also comes with the snow skirts which is about 10 centimeters long which is quite handy for helping to stop spindrift get through but also drafts be quite good in that regard might be a disadvantage though in regards to condensation without well it might not allow adequate ventilation and you might get a bit more condensation inside also you only have the one tire point here on this one side with the adjuster uh i think that should be on both sides that then allows you to either open that door and tie it back or open this door and tie it back this tent comes with a waterproof zip and i think it's a number three size zip and what i'm finding as well as others is that you've got this fantastically strong material but then the weak point of the whole tent is going to be this really really fine zip something i would love to see and it's not going to make a huge difference to the weight is two toggles so you can tie that back there and tie it back here as well you know that would just make life a lot easier and something such as a magnetic clap that is on the tarp tent notch we've just got magnets to them that would just be even better eight extra guy points to beef up the tent these loops and they've been reinforced on the back as well much like here with these black fabric sections and i did notice though that the doors utilize this i believe to tie them back which is only way i can see how they do it but again another benefit all the additional guy points and high winds and stormy weather if you have all these guy lines getting used the tent is just tremendous and very secure feeling i have never felt you know concerned or worried camping in bad weather and something like this on the back of the tent you have this air vent it's it's okay i think to be honest this needs to be longer or the mesh has to be higher up because the angle that it's sitting in if you had driving rain i think you'll actually get rain through there even just now doing the filming you can see the benefits in comparison to something such as my notch where i'm undercover here with plenty of space i could have some kit here i could be cooking and you're out of the elements shielded from the wind or rain yes one of the things about these tents i really like and the reason why i keep going back to them is the amount of space that they offer and it's only using one trekking pole now this inner in itself is a tease up set up fantastic so i can open up the whole tent and tie it back now that this is wide open you can understand the benefits and the space that something like this does offer in comparison to the notch and the integrated inner is very interesting i'm not sure in that i'm not 100 sold yet but i do like the idea because when you use a separate inner you obviously have an air gap all the way around and it makes a bit smaller whereas this is just a lot more open and again as i said had that other door been able to roll up even in the rain you could sit like this and kind of be sheltered and enjoy the views i just think it's a great i really do like pyramid tents i think they're just a great great setup i really do one thing i have noticed with my experience of using cuban fibre is that it just doesn't flap about or move as much in the wind as sound nylon does that is a good feature one of the negatives though is that when it rains you can really hear it so nylon seems to dampen the noise of the rain whereas this it sounds like a a drum some people might like that i actually do and it helps me get to sleep i actually really like the noise of it no yeah there's a lot of pros and cons with pyramids or medicines are called meds mid-style tents and some people will either like them or hate them i really like them i might actually do a more in-depth video if people are interested in all the benefits of this style of tent in comparison to others and the thing is i did actually watch videos on youtube where there was people tested the dual meds against you know hilleberg actors and things like that and this was way better way better or this style of tent was way better than an acto so yeah i'll maybe do a a longer video on this kind of subject the footprint of this tent is 2.6 meters by 1.7 i think no 2.7 1.6 and the pole is set at 140 centimeters so this sleeping area is roughly 70 centimeters wide and it's plenty long enough for me i'm five foot ten there's still space at the bottom and the head i could easily fit my seater summit mountain here which is 10 centimeters thick my only concern with an integrated inner as if the tent is really shaking in the wind like this and there's any condensation then it sprays down on top of you i know you could use a bivvy bag but then it kind of defeats the purpose and then a baby bag is about the same weight as a separate inner and if you have a separate inner then you don't get affected by condensation from the actual outer as much you do also have this ventilation mesh around the outside which yes should help with the condensation not sure how drafty it might be and also if the condensation would actually run down and through it or not i do like the concept i really do i'm just not 100 sold on that but yet when it comes to small batch manufacturers of tents and you know the kind of cottage industry stuff yeah there's things that could be improved on this but this gentleman this jumper home has done a really good job it's actually a pretty well made bit of kit there's just some tweaks i would do to it to make it even better in my opinion and hopefully he might take on board i'm gonna have a chat with him and tell him what i would prefer and see if he does it now the first thing is a heavier duty zip this one i think is just too thin or too small you've got the potential for grit and stuff to get in that i'm not sure what the strength is or strain rating as in stormy weather i just think it needs to be a beefier waterproof zap the bottom of the doors i would have pegging points on both doors rather than just the one so this way this side could have been shut and this one could have been rolled open i would have that i would also add a pegging a pegging point a tie out point on the top here on the outside again just to have that extra guy line if you wanted it when it comes to the tie backs here i'm not sure if there's a patent on that with tarp tent with the magnets but i would have a couple of magnet closures one at the top one at the bottom on both doors that would just be epic now the one thing he did do which i am really chuffed about is this tea zip that i keep going on about and now you can see why it just opens up the whole tent fantastic and add the fact that you could roll back this door you've got tremendous views i'm really liking it and the fact it also has these 10 centimeter snow skirts that could be a good thing as well i'm just not sure on how it would affect the creation of condensation especially just a small vent again if you have a double zip you can vent the top so that you can get some more air flow through especially if you could open it about here it would be directly opposite this vent and you'd have air kind of drawn through the integrated nr yeah as i keep saying i'm not 100 sure on that one yet i really do like the idea of it and it's not as drafty as some other tents i've been in again because of this extended snow skirt what an interesting tent and it was very nice to have a look over it it really was so a big thank you to daniel who was kind enough to send it to me to look at very very kind and much appreciated thank you very much now i will leave a link down below to jumper home and his facebook page where he puts up all the things he makes and sells i really do wish though that he would make a proper website uh sometimes getting a handle and what he does do can be a bit difficult so i wish he would do that have a proper website but some of the stuff he does come up with he does rock sacks as well it certainly looks intriguing as always yeah thanks take care and i'll see you for the next one
