[Music] how many of you have had people ask you who have watched either myself or dr. Scott teach who have asked you why do they tamper with the King James why did they why do they do that anybody anybody ever had someone ask why I'm good I'm glad I saw a few hands go up and again I'm gonna go back to some of the logic and if this is the logical mind that says you're so well educated you're able to tell people King James is quite in terms of the documents we possess in our collection is quite young just just to be just a kid 1611 and our language was really kind of smoothed out by Tyndale's translation not ricklefs ricklefs may have been the first english of its kind but it is tin Dale who fathered the language that we're looking at which is only what a hundred plus years before the King James II not even 100 less than a hundred years before the King James so when people say why we're looking at a very good opportunity to tell people the other thing that makes this ministry unique that we have the manuscripts and the documentation to be able to tell people this what people will say a lot of times I'll hear people say the original Greek or the original Hebrew which unfortunately tell me what source you're getting that from because there's a lot of original everywhere tell me where you're getting this originality from from what year and from what manuscript and then we'll talk about who might have been persuaded or had some bias in their translation so I'm gonna take you into Psalm 91 but I I want us to not rush through this because as I took the time a few things dawned on me that I I said this is a must I'm asking you to put your spiritual thinking caps on don't think about lunch or your tummy or your kids or traffic or your car let's focus on this for a minute while you're in Psalm 91 I want to make reference to something first message of this year was out of job some of you might have been here when I delivered that message and in the message of Joel I described what I called the gallery of heaven looking on as this exchange between Satan and God regarding job takes place and I referred to I'm sure there was silence in the heavens Shh every mouth was hushed every angelic being looking on with fixed eyes Satan looking on in his minions with fixed eyes and God looking on with fixed eyes as job could have opened his mouth and said contrary to what he ultimately says which is he was still going to trust God and in the moment that he utters the declaration of faith still even in the case that he's lost everything I believe in the moment he opened his mouth to say a statement of faith still in God no matter what was going on in his life I think the heavens exploded with applause and Satan obviously disappears from that book we don't hear of him again he's only there in the opening passages and then he's gone so I want you to keep that similar imagery of a host of on looking angelic beings of God of Satan and his minions looking on because this is a song done in three voices I I've told you I'm hard-headed and I'm not this don't ask for this these are my scruples but this is Psalm 91 in Hebrew and I had to look at every single thing to make sure lord help me if I ever lose these pieces of paper which have a thousand markings that are not legible just to make sure that I'd seen for myself what it says so it is exactly like the picture that I just painted regarding Joe we have the opening verse which although there is no like usual in the Psalms it usually says a psalm of David or a psalm of Asaph I'm not gonna be dogmatic I know what dr. Scott said I know what a lot of the scholars say I'm not gonna be dogmatic about who may have penned this and I have good reason why I think that for some reason God left that blank so that we might actually put ourselves in that place rather than be focused on perhaps the writer so verse 1 acts as an introduction just a general broad introduction he that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty and then verse 2 is you and me like Joe in the picture I've painted of Jobe and the angelic host and the demonic forces and God verse 2 just verse 2 that's the only place where you and I get to look in there and say this is our part I will say of the Lord he is my refuge in my fortress my god in him will I trust and verses 3 through 13 are the onlooking gallery we'll call them the angelic forces that could be the heroes of faith they may be some faithful ones who've gone on before looking over the the little area there from heaven looking down your loved ones all watching but these are knowledgable in God's ways because through verse three through 13 they are dressing you and I as the fading ones and they are telling us about God surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the Fowler and from the noisome pestilence it can be guaranteed I'm gonna do some translation today so bear with me he shall cover thee with his feathers and under his wings shalt thou trust his truth shall be thy shield and buckler thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night nor for the arrow that flieth by day nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday a Thousand shall fall at thy side and ten thousand at thy right hand but it shall not come nigh thee only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked that should send a good message to you only with your eyes you're not gonna you're not gonna get to have the the fist back here actually hit the flesh just with your eyes where you get to see the reward of the wicked because thou has made the Lord which is my refuge and I want you to just take note if you've if you've listened to this message before if you've got some notes I want you to watch the shifting here because the angelic host is still speaking to us saying because thou that's you and me we become those right here because thou has made the Lord which is my refuge the angels and all the hosts speaking my refuge even the Most High thy habitation you see the change in personal pronouns we are the Dow's right there because thou speaking of you and me has made the Lord which is my refuge the angels are speaking even the most high thy habitation because of this not for merit not for good behavior not for your ideals of what you think you ought to be but because of this because you have made the most high your habitation there shall no evil befall thee neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling for he shall give his angels take note plural not one but plural many charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways they shall bear thee up in their hands lest thou dash thy foot against a stone thou shall tread upon the line out of the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet now here's God speaking and I have to point this out God is not speaking to us or to the number verse to person directly but he's speaking of him as though God was forgive the pictures here but as if God was sitting up on his throne looking down and watching us make the proclamation of verse 2 I will say of the Lord he is my refuge in my fortress my god in him will I trust God is sitting looking down on his dear children who say that to make that their stay and he says God speaking because he has set his love upon me therefore will I deliver him I will set him on high because he hath known my name now I want to continue but let me just say a footnote here if there was ever a verse in the Old Testament that could tell people about what God is looking for today today he's not looking for lip service he's not looking for people that are shedding their tears for the audience because he has said he is loved and that love there's many words in the Hebrew for love this is a clinging like adhesive not let go love because he has set his love upon me that is I won't let go God I love you so much no matter what people say no matter what's happening I'm clinging to your ward in your name you you'll have to Prime my fingers off because I will not let go therefore will I deliver him I will set him on high I will I will exalt him because he hath known my name that one verse of scripture if that could be understood in the New Testament realm when so many people walk around in the Latin frame taking the translation that is in the English of the words confession and don't ever catch the meaning that confession is not going in a little cubicle and shutting the door and talking to the priest this is confession cleaving to God and knowing his name this is why in the New Testament it says many came and said Lord Lord didn't we do this and so in your name he said depart from me I never knew you but they said they knew his name but they never came to cleave to him and know him as one when everything is gone when you have like Joe when you have been stripped of everything and all you have is to hold on to God because there's literally nothing else left to grab hold there are no tangibles in front of you then the response I will deliver him I will set him on high because he hath known my name he shall call upon me and I will answer him I will be with him in trouble I will deliver him and honor him with long life will i satisfy him and show him my salvation now what I did was as I went through this there are a few things that struck me the first thing is and I need to do this short lesson very briefly which is obviously this is written in Hebrew and not in English so there are many words that appear in this psalm that even for our modern tongue may not even make sense Hebrew is a pictorial language based on what is called a trilateral root system all that means is that almost uniquely every single word in the Hebrew vocabulary before it becomes a verb before it becomes something else it begins as just a simple three-letter consonant there are no vowels in the alphabet the vowels are added on afterwards in the form of diacritical marks Shiva's potage whatever that go underneath the letters so for example this would be the first the first word in verse one yes you've in this trilateral route we developed from the words in fact if you want the technical term that then becomes we make verbs out of these words the Hebrew it's called bean bean yarn or Binion team if it's plural that is actually the Hebrew word for building but it's also the word for when we take these three consonants and make them into vowels into verbs rather now why am I telling you this because Hebrew has a limited vocabulary it's not like the Greek with its sharp precision you may have one word that will carry various meanings and Hebrew is a pictorial word language rather so what I've done is I've I've taken verses 1 & 2 the first word that appears here is this Hebrew word you shove and the reason why I'm highlighting this and I'm going to I'm gonna try and pick this apart little by little is because your King James translates he that dwelleth and I want you to take note of something a lot of these words for example in verse 1 there's also in other words this shall abide now in our English language to dwell and to abide would be synonyms they would carry the essential same meaning but in the Hebrew you find out that as I said with the assortment of limited words you're working with you have to go and discover what type of dwelling is the King James speaking of this someone who comes to flop once in a while is it's someone who builds a building there what what type of dweller are we speaking of so we find out if you were to look in what is called the brown driver Briggs or the other source the Englishman's concordance and you were to look up the words for to dwell you would probably find minimally at least a dozen Hebrew words and they all carry some idea of something I wrote a few here up top for example one of them carries to sojourn to take a trip Gor another one Hannah is encampments that is the idea of dwelling in a temporary place and moving from place to place here's another word lune that's good that means to Lodge for the night a temporary lodging for the night but restricted for the night purpose and here's another one amid which is to stand and this one which is a very broad category Chacon which sometimes it's used of the tabernacle sometimes it's used of the place where God gods mount where they found God to be dwelling it's got diverse meanings this particular word now that we're looking at in verse one carries the idea of living that is what the New Testament if you remember I highlighted in John's Gospel the word abide that word where Jesus says if you abide in me speaking of remaining in him and staying and it's repeated John 13 14 and 15 you'll find those words being repeated it carries that it is a concept of not just oh this is my house over here but someone who is in the state of living and abiding and room meaning in the shelter of the most high so I'd like to tackle a few of these pick them apart little by little so I can show you the difference for example I just covered the words for to dwell he that dwelleth well your King James also says in that same verse shall abide and that word appears right here believe it or not that word for abide is this Hebrew word yeah and it's the same root by the way as this word up here to lodge for the night it means a lodging at night time like the motel 7 couldn't say 6 but 7 so that's kind of the idea but I want you to catch this this verbal system in the Hebrew the his police word to be reflexive that means you're doing it for yourself and iterative which means it's repeated and habitual so it's like every time the night falls think of this now in a pictorial sense every time the darkness surrounds you and the trouble comes think of it in that way because you don't have trouble every day although you could but I don't think you'd have trouble every single day for the rest of your life so when the trouble comes and the darkness comes you are habitually and repeatedly going to abide and I put this kind of as in quotes to show you that's what is being translated in the King James have different shades of meanings so let's go back to kind of getting the picture of who qualifies in this introduction who is going to qualify for the promises given by these angelic onlookers it's for the person who is constantly living in the shelter this word bested tear and I want you to see I'm not going to give you the huge Hebrew lesson but I'm showing you these are constructs which means these are attached to the words that follow them in the shelter of the most high El Elyon you can see here this is one of the names of God when we talk about God being referred to because he hath known my name you know names to us in our culture serve to identify we identify instead saying hey you over there I say and I say your name or missus or mister or whatever the whatever the cause may be of me yelling to you but normally we would address each other by name right in our culture in the Bible you will always find people's names mean something every single name of every person and most every place has a meaning so God wasn't really nilly when he was putting all this beautiful tapestry together including the names he would be known by and this particular name you can see has a relationship to another name down here of God LOL oki or a low high which is always being translated in the King James like so God in fact we've got multiple names of God if I'm going to go into this already we have here the name of yahwah which is usually being translated in your King James by those capital letters you'd be surprised that's why I said you're well educated you'd be surprised how many people will ask me when I meet them can you tell me about this why do they capitalize in some places and say God and large L capital L and Ord small why is that you'd be surprised that most people don't know that capital L o R D is always translating yahwah or jehovah and when you've got that smaller capital L and Lord being spelled that way it's usually translating Adonai and this particular name actually this is a preposition right here so yahwah this particular the Jewish and Hebrew translators thought it was too sacred in a lot of their manuscripts there they simply his name is Yahya or as they write they put yahwah's name yahwah and they put the letters the the vowel points of the other word if this is Lord Jehovah they put the vowel points of Adonai underneath this word so it becomes a word you can't even pronounce deliberately because they thought it was too sacred for anyone to say and isn't that ironic that even in their very Psalms the Lord is speaking he says because he hath known my name and you think how terrible how people have made interpretations on things God designed and gave these words for us to take to ourselves including getting to know who he is in his names his nature is revealed we begin to understand let me go back to this what is being translated most high if you look carefully I put here according to the Englishman's concordance this word the first use of it is after that Battle of the five kings in Genesis where Abram meets Melchizedek that marvelous exchange and the Most High is called possessor of heaven and earth and you get right there you don't have to go any further than that to understand that early on this name of God Most High is attached to possessing heaven and earth just begin right there if you know nothing else that however high heaven is and however great it is that's why it's being referred to as Most High there isn't anything higher than he where he is and where he lives where he has his being and I'd also love you to notice I'm going through the names of God here because you wouldn't necessarily see that in verses 1 & 2 the way I'm showing to you in the Hebrew but I find this most ironic that if you read in Isaiah where Satan is lifted up he says I will be like the Most High and he's using this word el elyon he was so lifted up and concede and pride he thought he could ascend to the height of the throne and take it so I want you to catch the picture of that in these words so the person who is living abiding has their essence oh I gave you some words here to remain to inhabit to abide one place even says to Mary yikes alright so that is the type of concept living and abiding in the shelter of the Most High and I want you to notice something else I've put these in brackets these definite articles are they're added by me and they're added by the translators there are at this point no definite articles so I've put them in to be able to read for the ease of translation and so you know the Hebrew language does have a definite article the but has no indefinite articles like a I didn't come here for a language lesson well I'll be done in a minute I just lied that's why I wouldn't folks say why do you do this because after I translated this for myself I began to look at this page and I thought my god you know I see the names of God are leaping out at me and I have a real clear picture when I get to verse 2 of the position that you and I need to be finding ourselves in because this is all of these promises that come after our conditioned upon verse to an understanding verse 2 that's you and me and our declaration is paramount so in the shelter of the most high sometimes translated by the way differently but I'm translating it the most high in the shadow of King James says the almighty most high shadow of the Almighty and you know this word we've taught on this before is another name of God that is shadow and I gave you that spelt out in the English right there if you're listening on radio I'm sorry but go to the Internet so you can see me scribble that's what I'm doing right now I'm I'm doing I'm doing my own graffiti so shad I is another name of God and I like the all-sufficient God but I want you to get the picture that's been used here before that Hebrew root word shad is from the word we get being translated breasts and if you read through the Old Testament it is singly used this word shad for a mother providing for her child at her breast where everything the child needs is found at the mother's breast warmth comfort nutrition everything that's needed now capture that idea as obviously we have someone who has had to run to a refuge which means they weren't walking on some paved smooth Road and these are the names that are to mind before we enter into seeing the declaration of saying I will say of the Lord so the God all-sufficient shad I I want you to think of that some of these names in the concept of you may not be here today feeling like you're needing a safe place a lot of times we go through the scriptures I will teach something and I feel like some of you aren't going through anything life-threatening or anything turbulent so it just you listen and it's kind of okay alright but trust me I have said this before and this is the voice of experience speaking you press close to God and you're gonna have what I call the rubber and iron test because one you're going to feel like shredded rubber you know you step on it moves all over the place and the iron tests because God's gonna see if any of this has taken hold by faith I'm looking at this saying yeah I've been there some of the things that the angel the angel beings are describing I've been there so now I'm telling you if you find yourself in that place it may be a place where you think because it is our nature to run to the flesh ask anybody what's the safest place you could be in a crisis now for the neurotic it might be the bomb shelter you ask a child they'll probably say under my bed or in my mother's arms depends on your frame of reference of what you're running to God's Word should be just that you are running to his word and understand why now I'm looking at all these words with such clarity because if I'm feeling low and feeling like I need a place to run to the Most High he gives me shelter if I'm needing sufficiency provision I have not I know what the scripture says have not because you ask not and too many times many of us are spent spend our hours praying and asking God to provide and sufficiently somehow he becomes enough in fact that was one of the translations dr. Scott used to quote dr. price thing they enough God so let's kind of chop this page into right here cuz this is verse 1 we just looked at and let's take a look at this from a bird's eye view the idea of living is an action it's a participle in the active that means you are it's not just somebody live here alright it's not that it's actively it's a participle that means there's an action of you the subject moving your body into that living and abiding zone into the shelter and this is a very unique word for shelter sometimes in some of the lexicons being translated secret place covering hiding place and that one is cut off right there but I can tell you this word was used at least one time when this word miss cetera was used at least one time when Jonathan is telling David to go hide behind a rock while he goes and inquires of his dad saw to find out what the matter is gonna be and he tells him to go hide himself first samuel 19 it's either verse 1 or verse 2 he tells him to go hide himself there and it is that place capture the pictorial idea the one who is actively living in that zone not i escape and then I just go hi there you're perpetually living and abiding you have your being in that kneading for covering hiding place of the most high in the shadow of the all-sufficient enough God and I want you to see you you make it your abode repeatedly and habitually when the night comes that means the state of always being in that I live in abide and have my being as Jesus said if you abide in him and paradoxically when the night comes when the terror come when the troubles come I repeatedly find myself living in this comfort zone even though it doesn't seem comfortable at all and so with that background let me move the page there we go with that background the declaration is made let's see what it says King James is pretty good I will say of the Lord I will say to the Lord to yahwah to Jehovah what I love about this is you realize how many names of God sit right here and what we've just looked at we have a great picture as God has revealed himself go to the beginning in the beginning at the creation when God created and it says God when he created the heavens and the earth Elohim the creative force who spoke and there was nothing and then everything Elohim we've got all these different names here we've got the I am God he was known by other names but he revealed himself as the I am Jehovah we look at all of these reveal a different nature and a different character of God if we're trying to find out what we need to do when we're in crisis we have a picture of God somebody said tell me what God looks like you're looking at it right here you're looking at it on this paper I see the God who is sufficient and enough we say we're the children of God well then God is able as a mother takes her child and at the breast is where all the provision all the food all the nutrient is received then you and I as children can go to our heavenly father same thing he's enough great depictions I will say to the Lord Jehovah my refuge and we've taught on this many many times but I'm gonna do it so for the benefit of those who have not heard this my refuge three Hebrew words that we've tried to show how to begin living the life of faith how do you begin you can sit in a church and hear the word week-in and week-out and never bring these to an application and it is the pictorial imagery from the Hebrew that lets us put it in motion so if we're to take the word this first word appearing is my refuge my and the root of which but I'll spell it to you in the long form haha my refuge we normally start with telling you that this Hebrew word is to give you the image of running to a shelter this roof over here if it was raining I would run underneath it and find out hey you guys are getting rained on not me I'm under the shelter it worked that's the pictorial idea of course we're all under the shelter of this roof which doesn't leak praise God oh how many of you I'm sorry I gonna break the serious moment up how many of you used to go in the old studio and answer the phones when it was raining it was raining inside so you understand what that means then right because some of you found Haase in the studio where we're no rain was falling you're going through those ceiling tiles where no rain came down so you understood that concept long before you applied it really here it is you see so the hebrew word of running to a shelter and finding out it worked it sheltered me from the storm and then the next word we've taught on many times in the Hebrew but dock and that is to lean to place your weight on that word appears in this verse as well you're gonna see it right here three letters bay top there it is and I put lean they translate trust and I want you to see this picture of course the third word we've given which is not yet in this verse but it'll appear later is Amen you know how and I do I get frustrated when I sometimes I'm watching TV and I hear well I've been in churches amen amen with fact we we used to go to minister somewhere on this precious brother but every did every two minutes amen amen and we come back from ministering there and be amen and you know you start picking up the amen amen and then I just wonder acid wow I'm starting to sound like that guy I better cut that out you know does even know what he's saying you know the preacher says can I hear an amen most people don't even know the concept that they're saying is not just some joyful word it is but it's it's having run to the shelter leaned and placed your complete weight on something you realize God's word I leaned and the staff didn't break under the pressure of my weight and my my resting on it which brings you to the state of a menace that is the resting for at least a moment in time no doubt that godswood held you up kept you and so we have this progression now this song and these two verses require that we put on our mind imagery to see unless someone is approaching this by faith you're going nowhere it's just words on paper I've just spent all this time talking you about Hebrew words and you'll just say it's all Hebrew to mean it doesn't mean thing or you're gonna see the pictorial imagery that God has revealed his nature here that the psalmist when he declares I will say of the Lord he's really saying and I don't really want to say it's wrong to say uh but he says I'll say to the Lord I'm gonna say it to him my refuge I I ran to you in a time of trouble and you sheltered me in my fortress my strong tower my place were nothing nothing could touch me not because I built it with hands it belongs to you you made it you covered me you you put me in a place where nothing could touch me no danger and of course the last part of this my God in him will I trust my my god I love this my God and the word for Batok to trust to lean and I translated in him just as good to say in him will I trust this the reverse now why am i doing all this because I'd like to get to the promises that follow but before I go there I want to say this it dawned on me two weeks ago while I was standing right here on this platform that I take for granted I think the people I'm talking to the old and the new understand what it is based on what I've just explained what it means to put everything into action and begin to act in faith I take that for granted and then it dawned on me because I had a conversation with somebody it was like scales came off my eyes and I recognize no that's those people who have understood and taken the word and taking it as if God said it just like the Prophet Jeremiah God will make it come to pass and we've said in the New Testament you hang your whole entire being on the Word of God this is where it really dawned on me I wanted to teach out of this psalm for weeks and I thought two weeks ago when this registered with me I need to make sure that the basis of understanding the action of faith the putting it into gear is understood and conveyed in such a way that the people I'm talking to both those who know and those who have not yet understood will begin to apply something they've heard today see too many people will come now you old timers you you you have battle scars so you know what to do a lot of the new folks had come they say I have faith I have faith I just read you this great song we just broke apart the two verses of Yahoo I have faith okay what do you have faith in so I'm gonna do something real basic it'll take me about five minutes all right the radio people didn't see that of course I just crossed my fingers so the real basic principle right here is we're gonna take the old and new testaments and we're gonna close the book and we're gonna say one book that reveals Christ beginning with you and I are accepting the proof of his miraculous resurrection the miracle that that is the starting point of Christianity and if he did raise from the grave then all of the contents of this book piece of cake I can pack them it's much more difficult to believe God raised a dead person a supposed man and God from the grave that's much more difficult to believe that than it is to say that I might read a good word here and it will say he'll cover me with his feathers hmm although usually feathers are for birds so my point is to say if you'll take a moment to take everything I've said bring it to a place where you just say okay I park all this here all this information she's given me now I have to put it into action the launching pad of that activity begins with you have at least read the factual basis for the resurrection you understand Christianity begins with that miracle the rest of the book then becomes easy to not only accept but to believe to take hold of and you begin by taking small steps I've never seen anybody just out of the gate say okay now I got God's Word and I'm ready to go kick something none work that way it's always the same way it's those little shaky steps because this is what happens it's scary to get out of the comfort zone it's scary if you're if you're in the state of what's being described here by the onlookers that you'll be delivered from the snare of the Fowler and we'll talk about that and noise some pestilence that you won't be afraid of the terror by night nor of the arrow that flies by day do you realize what I encounter weekend week out of people writing or encountering people where they say my nights are like hell I can't sleep or have insomnia or I get attacked I have things that happen to me in the night we're speaking of these very things that seem to attack almost every child of God and tell somebody we'll just claim a promise the mouth goes what time I'm afraid I will trust in the Lord but if the heart and everything else is not launched into the activity of saying like handles like a rocket ship taking off and you latch hold oh I'm sure you you know gravity is going do something but in the moment of that force departing your body is clinging to those handles to not let go you'll understand what the activity of faces it is not simply the mind says I will I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can no you can do that all you want in until you say I am and I will you are not I'm tired of people saying you preacher a difficult message here you line all this up and then never stopping to say how do I apply this because it's pretty obvious to me enemies are around this person terror by night a lot of different things that are going on around evil around this person and there are a promise with one criteria that verse two becomes mine and yours we say it like we you can say well I will say of the Lord he is my refuge and my fortress my god in him will I trust and then walk out that door go on about your business and never really come to the reality of running to see if his world will shelter you and leaning on it and I guess I guess some of us have to be in the position of having everything gone no strength left some of us have to be crippled brought to extreme sickness extreme poverty to come to the place of crying out for that particular need god help me so I'm trying to get some of you who don't yet understand this is not words to me when we tell people live by faith not by works living by faith requires you see yourself just like those heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 and it talks about all of the Giants that are in this book none of them by the way have a pristine record behind them and every single one of them it says my faith by faith by faith and faith we've said many times is you're taking God's Word and you're putting it into action you know what your mind has connected with in the Word of God and the circumstance that is so contradictive it is so against what you see and faith says God's Word says I you fill in the blanks I'm finding out that so many people especially the people who don't have the years of trying to hold on and get the faith grip they hear the message they hear the message and it never gets put anywhere except maybe shelved and then they might remember oh yeah six months ago or or a year ago I call that fruitless activity if you're not planning on harnessing God's Word and abiding in grafting it becoming second nature so when the trouble comes and it will when the terror by night when the arrow that flies by day when the pestilence when the darkness when the destruction the faith handles you grab on to are not just this mouth going even Romans declares and says perfectly with the heart man believeth with the mouth proclamation literally declaration or like this he knows my name the knowledge that comes out and when in Romans and says the word is already nigh that word is the Rhema not the logos it's it's the word you've read it's the words you've studied it's the words you've taken to yourself Paul wasn't speaking to unbelievers in Romans 10 look at it in context you'll see who he's talking to find yourself there now for me I want this to be our portion I will say of the Lord I was saved of yahwah i will say of jehovah go back to the hebrew for a minute let me do the baby steps here I want you to look at this see these the yard a little vowel point and you have here another one yard and a vowel point these are possessive to be able to say my god have it again here my God my god not the god of somebody else's religion not the God of somebody else's faith my god and when God becomes a reality to you that's the other problem I grapple with within the church world as I find a lot of people never come to the reality of the person whom we deal with in Christ Jesus he's given all these promises and you were either a bunch of lunatics walking around saying good words or you test it be the first one to take God's Word and say I'm gonna I'm gonna check this out not me I told you check me out anytime I'm gonna test out this promise the promise says thus and so and this is one promise that verse 1 and 2 you find yourself there and then look down whatever else it says 3 through 13 becomes your promise and then God says because you have cling to me no matter what you're running from or running to or hiding from seeking solace from no matter what it is because you have cleaned to me put your love therefore I will deliver him not because you were so good or so bad or because you know how to pray better because of this one factor I always go back to this same imagery it's not the word used it's not the word used in Genesis when we encounter Jacob wrestling with the angel of the Lord but I envision it pictorially the same way because when he found out who he was fighting against he would not let go until he was blessed put it right there and put it right upon that and you and I we're not saying we won't let go until God blesses us we just won't let go this is the kind of thing that God looks at that gets his attention for you that are grappling of how to appropriate and how to hold on how to tap into what God's Word promises for every believer instead of walking around in circles and saying what God's not doing anything for me and I don't see it I'm in church and I she tells me to do this and she tells me I know I'm telling you one thing get into the habit of understanding you'll find yourself here I will say of the Lord I ran to him first before I ran to the flesh what's our first thing to do when we get in trouble when we have something terrible happened what is the first thing come on don't tell me you don't do it too because we all do it we call somebody on the phone huh because oh oh you never believe what happened come on now that's all of you and I wonder how many of us actually when the stuff is actually hitting the fan the first thing we're doing is running to the fortress you see we can we're gonna make the phone calls after we get to the fortress guys we can really make the phone calls after we get to the refuge but our first instinct is Oh pick up the phone where's my phone got a call so and so in the panic sets in then sit down it's almost like a double whammy it's a little bit of running to the flesh and gossip all at the same time never gonna believe this and there's some people in the body of Christ you just thrive off of that if they can't get enough of your troubles and you just feed them instead of doing what I'm telling you to do so I'm not this is going to be a part two I can tell you that for sure because I've got so much in here that I dissected that I'm not not willing to just say okay I'm gonna rush this to try and tie the ends together part one of this for today is take verses 1 & 2 and take a good look because the idea I've given you is living and abiding where you have made your residents that covering hiding place think about this and under the shadow under his shadow you know I followed the idea of shadows through the Bible if you read in Isaiah it speaks of the shadow of the rock we sing a song Jesus is a rock in a weary land the picture of Jesus being our rock providing shelter and relief for us where our lips are parched and our soul is about to faint Jesus provides the shadow of the rock and another place in Song of Solomon chapter 2 and verse 3 where it speaks of the tree that gives shade and there that tree giving shade and shadow is delightful and full of joy now you can take the imagery to its extreme which is we see the same tree and we see the joy of the resurrected Christ you can go right through the Bible there's plenty of these images back to Isaiah the shadow his hand where it says that for the person trusting in him essentially you'll be in the shadow of his hand that he'll put his hand will protect you take all that imagery today and start putting it into practice by recognizing this I will say of the Lord he is my refuge I've made him my refuge I've made him the place I run to I've made him the place where I know he will protect me and I'm leaning and trusting and I have this confidence that says with a track history behind me that God has never left me he's never failed me and his promises are mine and yours to claim you turn your faith loose turn it loose and see if God doesn't make his word come to pass now all of this is either just going to be sermonizing and the Hebrew experiment or are you gonna take this today and say you know I'm guilty of that my first thing is leaning on the flesh calling my friends but this is my portion if it's your portion and claim it begin to walk in it and as I begin to try and communicate a little bit more the safest place you will ever find yourself now you tell your kid it's not under the bed but if there is an imagery it is just like at the mother's breast in the safety of God's arms right there I get a great something that tells me God not only said this here it was the same thing that made Jesus grieve when he he said Jerusalem how often would I have gathered you under my wings like chicks like little children but you would not and that's probably why Jesus said except you become as one of these like children with childlike faith so I'm asking you today to take the words don't make this some lesson now where you just kind of park it somewhere begin to put it into action next week we'll look at the promises given to us by the onlooking host and then what God says to those who have cleaned and cleave to him with faith all things are possible turn faith loose folks that's my message
