hello everyone it's SpawnPoiint and can you  believe it has been nearly 3 years since the PS5   launched and for the most part it's been awesome  we've seen loads of new games new accessories and   updates that have made the PlayStation 5 even  better we've had games like Horizon forbidden   West Spider-Man and Demons Souls as well as the  release of PSVR2 the DualSense Edge controller   and not forgetting the upcoming PlayStation Portal  and the new PS5 console I think after 3 years and   40 million sales worldwide is the perfect time  to kind of reflect on the good and the bad as   well as the areas it could still do with some  improvement so whether you've been lucky enough   to own a PS5 for the last few years and you just  want to reminisce on your journey so far or you're   wondering if it's still worth picking one up today  well hopefully this video will help you out now   before we jump in drop a like if you already have  a PS5 so one of the biggest issues that we saw at   launch and for the first 2 years was the stock  it might seem like a distant memory now but you   couldn't just walk into a store and buy one and  some people will pay nearly double the RP which   looking back just seems unreal well fast 4 to  3 years and it's awesome to see that Sony have   finally been able to meet demand as these are  readily available almost everywhere on top of   that the prices have actually come down a little  bit since launch so if you've not got one yet now   could be the perfect time especially with a  huge library of games we have available and   talking of games my ever increasing backlog tells  me we've had a lot of great new releases over the   last few months let alone the last 3 years I'm  not sure about you but I cannot help but jump   on every new release even if only to finish the  main story before jumping on to the next game   I do keep telling myself that I will go back and  finish those trophies but from what we've seen so   far it's been a great time for us Gamers I think  2023 has been incredibly strong for new releases   and here are some of my favorite first party games  games I really believe every PS5 owner should at   least play once not only do they look good and  showcase the performance of the PS5 but they   have great story lines and gameplay so Spider-Man  Mars Morales is a must play especially if you've   played the first Spider-Man or the remastered  version this game also has me super hyped for   Spider-Man 2 which is coming out later this month  then we've had games like Horizon forbidden West   which was a brilliant game and only made better  with the burning Shores DLC which was exclusive   to the PS5 we've also of course had God of War  Ragnarok The Last of Us Part One remastered Grand   Turismo 7 and death stranding I could keep going  but almost every PlayStation Studio release has   been awesome then we have the third party AAA  games which although are technically available   on the PS4 as well they will play so much better  on the PS5 Call of Duty Final Fantasy 16 star Wars   Jedi Survivor Elder ring and the crew motorfest  and it's not just the visuals it's the load times   that have improved 3 years on you kind of take it  for granted how quickly these games load but one   thing that's worth pointing out is although the  PlayStation 5 does natively support 4K and 120   FPS there aren't a ton of games out there that  offer both of these options we're still seeing   most games capped at 60 FPS but the games that  do support the 410 look incredible and I think   as time goes on I would expect more games to  give us both the performance and the visual   mode to swap between and not forgetting the  huge library of PS4 games that are available   via backwards compatibility this means whether  you're upgrading from your PS4 and you need to   transfer over your backlog or there are still  games you've never played but you can still   play those on the PS5 games like Mafia The Last of  Us Part Two god of war and days gone there are so   many incredible games out there that it's great to  see that we can still play these on the PS5 on top   of that a lot of these PS4 games are seeing PS5  updates and this either unlocks higher resolution   or higher frame rates take red Dead Redemption  only last week we got a 60 FPS update for the   PS5 now one of the most frequent questions I  get from friends family and viewers is is it   really worth the upgrade from the PlayStation 4  to a PlayStation 5 and the short answer is yes   100% it is worth the upgrade sure there are still  hundreds of new games released every year that are   still available on both the PS4 and the PS5 so the  incentive to upgrade isn't really there but there   are noticeable advantages if you do now whether  you benefit from The increased performance kind   of comes down to two things one is the games that  you play are you wanting to play high demanding   games like God of War and you want it to run as  smoothly as possible and two if you have a TV or   monitor that will support those added features  I mean it's no good saying you want a PS5 for 4K   gaming if you're using a 1080p monitor or you say  you want a higher frame rate but your TV is stuck   at just 60 FPS ideally you will have a monitor  or a TV that supports everything that PS5 has to   offer but those two points aside here are the  advantages that make the PS5 a worthy upgrade   the first is the fact that it won't sound like  a jet engine how many times have you played on   the PlayStation 4 only to hear the fans over the  sound coming from your TV or you're online and   you can literally hear the fans in the background  of your friend's mic well on the PS5 it is silent   like whisper quiet also the low times you don't  appreciate how fast the PS5 is until you go back   and compare it to the PlayStation 4 the bootup  time menu navigation and loading games is so   fast obviously that is a massive help with the  SSD versus the hard drive but the performance of   the PS5 just made makes everything so much easier  and more enjoyable to use on top of that I think   we're going to start to see more and more games  released at are PS5 only which means if you want   to play them you will have to upgrade eventually  take Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine huge games that   are releasing and they will not be coming to the  PS4 so at launch it was clear that the PlayStation   5 was designed for the covers on the side to be  replaced and shortly after that we started to   see those third party plates popping up then  in early 2021 we did get the first official   Sony covers available on their store these were  the midnight black the cosmic red and Galactic   purple but since then we've had a total of 12  colors announced or released this has included   the Starlight blue Nova pink and the gray camo  as well as a few limited edition options like the   Spider-Man 2 I did actually miss out on these when  they went up for pre-order but I did manage to get   the console instead then more recently we've got  the new deep Earth collection where we get these   three new colors I'm already liking the look of  the sterling silver is giving me those PS1 gray   vipes but for PlayStation to give us the option to  change the look of the console simply by swapping   the plates is such a great idea it's easy for  us to do and doesn't ruin the original covers   then as well as the covers we've also seen the  matching controllers as well we're up to about   15 controllers now including the same galaxy  range a few gaming themed ones like the God of   War Ragnarok Hogwarts Legacy and the Spider-Man  2 as well as this one here from LeBron James I   mean there's really no need to buy them all but  it's great to see a wide range of designs and   colors to suit everyone now we're just missing the  translucent range like we had on the PlayStation   4 the big one though was the Dual sensor Edge this  is the Pro Controller that PlayStation brought out   in January 2023 it's essentially a dual sense  that's been heavily modded so we get the same   great features like adaptive triggers and haptic  feedback but we get so much more this comes with   adjustable triggers you can swap between standard  and instant at a click of a button this is perfect   for those FPS games where you need that instant  response but of course you can still swap back   to a normal mode for your racing games it also  has these two rear mappable buttons so you can   click buttons that you'd normally need to remove  your thumbs from the thumbsticks to press and the   fact that you can swap out the entire thumbstick  module for a new one is a real game changer we've   all heard of stick drift and this is one way to  increase the lifespan of the controller as it's   likely the very first thing to go wrong and then  back in February 2023 PlayStation released the   psvr2 a virtual reality headset that works  with the PlayStation 5 this has been one of   those accessories that are used a lot during the  winter months then over summer I've hardly used   it but this is probably driven mostly by the  game releases but the games that we've had so   far have been in awesome essentially we get two  sense controllers to navigate the VR world and   the headset which needs to be plugged into the  PS5 now most of the games are exclusive to VR   so games like Moss or pistol weapon Horizon call  of the mountain but we have also seen some normal   PS5 games updated with VR features so games like  Resident Evil or even Grand Turismo 7 is one of   those games it's completely changes the way the  game looks and feels and it blows me away just   how impressive it is so combining the whole list  of accessories that we now have available for the   PlayStation 5 it feels like we've got a complete  package from A Game's console point of view I   don't think there's much else we could possibly  need so another feature worth talking about is   PlayStation Plus this has had an overhaul since  it first launched and over the last few years   we've seen it completely redesigned into a new  tier system whether you think it's worth buying   comes down to if you see value in the offerings  from each tier but I think this is something that   just adds to the overall experience on the PS5  it means you don't always need to buy the latest   AAA games as there are hundreds of games here  to play personally I'm on the premium package   but that's only because I was automatically  upgraded when they merged both PS now and ps+   together but basically this is what we get in  each package essential gives us monthly games   online multiplayer discounts and cloud storage  this is what we got in the original ps+ back in   the day then we have the extra plan which comes  with the same as essential with the added benefit   of hundreds of games in the game catalog and the  Ubisoft plus Classics so games like Spider-Man   Mars Morales Horizon forbidden West and back  for blood are all included in this plan and   the top plan is premium this has all of the other  perks plus the classic games catalog game trials   and Cloud streaming this essentially gives you  another few 100 games that you can either download   or stream including PlayStation 1 PlayStation 2  and Playstation 3 games now these plans were not   cheap to begin with and very recently PlayStation  did increase these by$ 20 to $40 per year and it   wasn't clear why at the time but I think as time  goes on we will start to see more benefits added   to justifier it or at least that's what I'm hoping  to see but only last month we did see the new Sony   pictures core platform announced which will  be included in the extra and the premium plans   this is Sony's new movie streaming platform and  will include about 100 movies at no cost to you   it'll also give you early access and discounted  prices to some Sony Pictures movies I would kind   of compare this to Apple TV where you can stream  and buy rather than Netflix which is for streaming   only another big feature is the ability to Remote  Play It's Not Perfect by any means but it allows   us to play games stored on the console to any  Remote Play enabled device things like your phone   tablet or laptop can all be used then controllers  like the backbone one brings proper game controls   to your phone while devices like the Logitech  g-cloud And Rog Ally are awesome handheld consoles   that do it all now the benefit is you can pick  up and play without needing to sit at your desk   or in your living room but the downside is you do  need to have your PS5 switched on and running for   it to work it doesn't actually use cloud gaming  it literally streams from the PlayStation 5 now   there's obviously been enough interest in this  way of playing for PlayStation to announce the   PlayStation portal which is Sony's own handheld  streaming device this works in the same way as   the Logitech g-cloud in that it only streams games  rather than stores them locally but it gives us a   massive benefit of the dual shot controls already  built in now I know this device has had a lot of   hate since it was first announced but I think with  a few tweaks this could be a perfect device the   fact that it needs to connect your PS5 to work is  a huge downside however I really believe that they   will eventually unlock cloud gaming and this will  allow you to stream games and bypass the need for   a PS5 maybe it's wishful thinking but until then  streaming from the PS5 will still be awesome while   at home when it comes to the UI and menus of the  PS5 I still think it's one of the cleanest uis   that we've seen not much has changed since day one  and we still have the game tiles and a full screen   wallpapers behind as you navigate through but what  we have seen are small tweaks that have made using   the PS5 that little bit easier originally you  didn't know if you had a PS4 or a PS5 version   of the game installed whereas now we do have those  little PS4 and PS5 icons next to each one and the   trophy list has been updated to be more user  friendly they even added the ability to enable   system haptic feedback so you can fill a vibration  As you move around the screen the fact is over   the last few years each beta or public software  update that they have pushed has a dozen or so   new features that most of us are asking for things  like 1440p support Dolby Atmos increased storage   Discord and the big one being able to mute your  PS5 startup sound it's such a small feature but   for some it means you can turn on your PS5 without  waking or annoying others in your house as for   the storage while by default the PlayStation  5 comes with 825 GB of which just 667 GB are   usable PlayStation did initially lock the internal  expansion Bay so you couldn't add any more storage   but they have since allowed up to 4 terab ssds to  be inserted then within the last month they have   increased that to now 8 terabytes this means you  can literally have more than 10 times the storage   inside your PS5 that is incredible that being  said there are still a few areas that I want to   see improved or at least added to within the next  update let me know if you agree with any of these   or if there are any of your own that you'd like to  add below firstly I want to see folders added to   the home screen yes the game lists are great but I  want folders I want to see these on the dashboard   not hidden away in the game Library secondly  I want themes I have been saying this since my   launch day unboxing video but I still want the  ability to add my own themes I know games have   their own backdrops and music as you hover over  them but wouldn't it be cool if you could create   your own or download game related ones from  the store and finally I would like to see a   web browser again this was on the PS4 so it would  be really useful to have it on here as well other   than that the PS5 has seen some awesome updates  so far slowly rolling out features that we've all   been asking for but if there are still some that  you're wanting to see drop them below as you never   know who's reading these comments so what does the  future of the PS5 look like today well the fact   that we are 3 years in means there's a good chance  we're about halfway into the life cycle of the PS5   or at least halfway in until we should expect to  see a ps6 announcement that's taken into account   the usual 6 to 7 years before each major console  update and then only this week we've just had the   new PlayStation 5 announced essentially this is  the PS5 slim which will come out in November it's   going to be 30% smaller have a 1 TB SSD and four  removable panels it will also have an attachable   disc drive which you can swap out or add at  a later date to the digital version this new   model will eventually replace their PS5 as we know  it today so if you want the original PS5 now is   the time to to get it then of course we have the  rumored PS5 Pro which we will likely see sometime   next year but I imagine that to be considerably  more expensive and it's for that reason that I   still feel the PS5 is in its infancy it feels like  it's only just getting started we've got new games   on the horizon like Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine  the PlayStation portal cloud gaming and streaming   as well as of course the recent news of Jim Ryan  stepping down as CEO he is retiring after 30 years   with PlayStation now this alone will potentially  take the company and console in a whole different   direction now only time will tell but I've got  high hopes that the future of the PS5 is looking   good for me the PS5 is one of the best consoles  that we've ever seen released I say one of as the   PS2 and the Xbox 360 will always have a special  place for me but value for money performance the   game catalog PS4 backwards compatibility psvr2  and the upcoming games pair that with the movie   streaming options and the PS5 is a solid buy as a  central entertainment system and from what we've   seen so far I think we've got a strong f few  years ahead I'm actually really excited to see   what PlayStation have in store for us next so  that was a recap and update on the PlayStation   5 and what it's been like after 3 years and  why I think it is an awesome game console that   every gamer should own now tell me do you own  a PlayStation 5 and drop a PS5 in the comments   and I'll give you a thumbs up for staying right  till the end and if you did enjoy today's video   check out my top 10 games to playay video next as  it covers 10 games releasing in October that you   don't want to miss well thanks for watching please  like and follow me everywhere until next time
