partner is right now i'm gonna tell you catch a few bass he's been caught a few bass in his years but who are we up against okay these boys right here we got carl jochenson bp brandon pauline these guys are the hottest two anglers definitely uh over there the bassmaster elite series caught them everywhere carl ian brandon brandon you've won like freaking 27 000 tournaments i mean carl you know you want you know you had your first big one you've had some solid finishes yeah and then of course who is my team partner okay otter i defoe what's up jack and i and this is the only tennessee river lake i've never been on that seriously never and i'm gonna fish barefoot but the the one catch and i really appreciate these guys doing this today but the one catch is they have to fish strictly with a rappler og slam i just just worked these up these babies up in the garage and uh and just brought them down here today so a fresh batch off the press and uh and yeah i really appreciate number one i do i appreciate you guys doing this to help help promote my little bait absolutely hey dude ain't no problem this is the other catch okay this is the winning to make things fair yeah because we have i think there's 14 calories in the lineup but this is 12 right here i picked them out yeah and uh this is the deal we only will actually select each crankbait color but brandon and their team gets to go first and selecting their crankbait coach so if they pick a color we cannot throw that color today so it's all different so don't only be fair you guys i wish i knew i wish i knew exactly which one was oh but they're all good and that's wheeler freaked out i mean 12 of the 14 dynamite colors i feel like that's there's perch and silver's they get the whole man you don't get to throw that color you can't throw that color once we select it did you hear like this oh that's not fun [Music] i'm really curious to see what he's going to pick yeah i'm going with some gizzards let's just go ahead and clean them out water's pretty clean we've got some sun i don't know maybe this dude that's a better one the strategy that's better we've gotta think yeah i think okay it's kind of painful this is funny is if this was a spawn event that probably would have been the first that would have been the first made to be big 100 it is pre-spawn so a lot of these fish waters are about 53 54 degrees this is great and so hey can we use when i use some of them colors or yeah oh yeah absolutely absolutely it's just the whole boat it's like this whole box is our boat it's all we get to fish from today for three full hours of competition all right this video one eight minimum pound eight let's get let's take it to the lake boys let's go we're using official raffle scales yep the only scale there is the official official official ride that is the other deal yeah every fish counts one eight minimum total on a deal three one hour periods we're going to do a 10 minute break but it's a 10 minute break in between five minutes bro we're it break yep so quick five-minute break sit down make sure everything's working split all right there you guys have it you know the rules we got our box of plugs right here otter let's do it let's do this thing will's and i only shared a boat together once before it cleaned my clock it's an ultimate match fishing on chickamauga so i'm glad i'm fishing with him i mean not not that i want to be fishing against these guys but i'm just glad i'm glad we're on the same team because it's it's going to be cool to me because we fish so similar yeah i mean in practice the way we look at stuff it is so so very similar so it'll be cool to be on the front deck side by side trying to accomplish the same goal and uh right here just take me to them you're my god jack i never been here before [Music] [Music] [Music] what's up everybody welcome to the first pro bash shootout of the year thank you guys so much for joining us we have almost 500 people live right now and these events have we started this up basically during covid last year because a lot of tournament bass fishing was not happening and it's something that's turned into something that's a lot of fun competing these three hour tournaments it's a three-hour tournament um three one hour periods a pound and a half minimum on this body of water we are nika jack like pre-spawn water temperature varies from about 50 degrees to 54 so i'm gonna try to i'll be here and i'll be in the chat room trying to answer some of y'all's questions um but just giving you guys a little bit of a rundown of what really to expect another thing in it is ultimately um we're just having fun we're having a good time and team format fishing some people call them dog fights uh down here in tennessee team format to me is always one of the most fun going out one of the most fun events you can possibly fish going out there with your buddies um enjoying um that time it's uh it's something really special so i will tell you this we did have a quick run um right around we were able to have like 15 minutes to sort of get to our locations well in total brandon paul in fashion brandon decides to run 35 miles up the river so we're gonna have the first 15 minutes we'll probably be you'll see the front of bp's boat um carl running chopping down the lake but we will be casting so without further ado here we go first you caught that one throwing about that tent yeah it was where that that one right i mean is it just didn't get it i'm gonna put red beer on i can't stand it i caught that one on earlier that had it just eight i'm like yeah yeah that's right right right big thing that'll be interesting too i think we're both doing 12 here right now right yeah you throwing 12 that's what i'm throwing it'll be different places would go i mean because we're fishing one bait but how we've got it on 12 14 17 20. i know and how you know how you can take that'll be a cool thing i think for people to learn 100 that's how you take one bait but put different line on it if they're on like one act right right you can throw it on eight get it [Laughter] but yeah you can take you take that one action and and cover cover all the bases with it i feel like grass feels good so i want a lot burn it but i don't know if it's quite warm enough not in that grass it feels good it's pretty hill grass well you get it was a club of grat like as soon as i left the first thing i saw was a pump of grass uh the next one was on it was on the hard deal so they're on the they're on the bird next one yep it was out there about towards that voltage sign feels like a decent one i don't know he might make it he ain't big yeah i think he'll go i think we might have one that'll go on the root beer don't fall oh he's gonna be close i don't know i don't know wheels i'm not feeling so good about it oh yeah he need to eat his wheaties i don't know if he's gonna go one eight one eight we're not re-weighing we're just trying to get it saved on the scale it was 1 8. how many fish are in them and the water i mean like that's that's a crazy thing well it's bass crappie whatever it's like 360 i mean we see a lot of stuff we never did but it's that's not what not what you see was live look at look at all the eelgrass we pulled up we we weren't even getting it to the boat as we're just cutting the grass a lot of lawn clippings right here foreign just even along here looks great i think the amount of current just along here yeah like i like how it slows up right on there yeah it's kind of falling in there that orange one like that you think it's cleaner water yeah that's so wild there's a dirty water line yeah yeah yeah i touched him on that one yeah like one little tick yeah treat no updates bam you can put the casting rings on on your way points on that on the bird with them like they went pretty well yeah pretty good yeah they did pretty good damn that looks good girl's diving on something go on a good one look like a fish yes that's an adjustment you're 116 from the one yeah just uh to the left yeah the uh that that dollar mark was like right over there yeah it was like it did start kind of picking up some grass over this way and then uh and they kind of come up come out on that little knob oh they caught a three pounder oh yeah three four yeah yeah we're not not quite too but we're getting yeah that feels really good i mean that grass with the bottoms like that bottom feels crunchy yeah i think jump the other side work our way out might as well get up to the good stuff that should be where they're at it's all in how you slap you can slap it hard as long as you graze the top you know if you just pound you slam it down she gone yeah yeah you can do you can do this number right yeah but you go pow like that just skimming yo but you you slam him down that'll be the last time yep ain't got it yeah we got four others i used to use them real fragile ones but hope it takes you a day to build and then five dollars to get painted you're like no you're not going to mess him up slap him on the water and little plastic bait you get to get the story yeah that ain't no big deal oh yeah uh it shows like we're like straight out from foot but when it's cloudy super dark wind blowing yeah yeah that's right but bright bluebird not much wind you know it's you can get you can get the right conditions and vary from it but it's just a good good good cold water you ever throw it when it's warm at all yeah like right around the bluegill that's a really good bluegill yeah that's i've heard guys say that about chartreuse root beer and i never really considered it but it definitely is is the water stain i don't know what that is so for me chartreuse root beer is one i love if i'm fishing a place that's got spots yeah i don't know why but man i've always caught spots good on chartreuse river we got shad wraps paint that color man i've caught so many on you see more on that yeah so many smaller ones [Music] like a one pounder in the first period or something maybe that crop is suspended they must be schooling where they're at every cast nice little crappy jig out there and catch us some dinner [Music] step there yeah now they handled it together hanging out it's gonna have crawford like through that basser crappie are like uh people in other countries that don't care about your face bass they're like dude get mad give me a little room here i don't want to touch with my tail fish from this body of water lucky we're letting them go touching each other the whole time that's crazy no swimming or biting because they're dumping straight oh it's that first couple does i know i mean it's gonna be it seems like what's in your first throw yeah these [Music] areas nice this might come back in 10 minutes first though catch another one you uh they catch a lot of big ones down here like five pounder a big [Music] catching 20 pounds that's a pretty big clump there it's funny how that eelgrass grows like that crazy yeah i don't they don't spread out you know i mean it will cover them we'll cover the bottom but they don't wonder yeah chokes it out that's like where that place is up there where we fish give us one more grass yeah let them know we're still alive i'll eat one of these a day i'm good finally okay a little breeze hitting it got 5 12. uh 3 3 15. yep 215. 3 15. man i feel like one took the water off of it that's crazy to me how dead not you put your bait on his head there was one following was there i felt like one took the water off of it what's we just gotta go you hit that little next opening yeah yeah it's gotta be smart big o big old mega clump i have to adjust that 360 a little bit it drives me nuts being off a little bit like it is it's like hey you follow i've been i've been firstly in the first because i didn't fish hardly any in practice like literally 45 minutes i thought dude i didn't the whole time i didn't get a ride out of the box to 4 15. yeah but uh i started fishing and i'm like man i'm not hitting my stuff sometimes and i look at my my deal was twisted just a little bit just tweaked just a little bit and then i hit everything first oh it's close yeah the wrong way [Music] any pliers or anything i'll keep slinging i'm fishing fishing totally blind [Laughter] they were just fishing it's fishing i think it work i started with a flasher and no graph not no gps you know that was why we started off fishing we put our put our that's what that is that's a flasher yeah that's all that is it looks out you're underway that way yeah we could have done that 50 years ago turned it forward you you have a little outside knob and you adjust your scale that's all that is the darn flasher little stringy stuff [Music] yes it's so little you can't quite pick it up yeah it's let's just walk into this next marshall spotlight i'm looking after you baby nice suckers yeah it's huge yeah it got totally flat yeah we're gonna have to hit up we're gonna have to hit a stereo if they keep that pace up it's insanity that's like the biggest fish there is yeah we're just saying a 512 is a giant yeah on a 712's even that's insane well that's the that's the deal right there that you see them you see them quit acting you know do that yeah okay okay yeah let's go on interesting wheels yeah it was pretty yeah [Music] so as much as anything they must i bet you they're on that bridge we're going to hit one of these spots and they're going to be loaded one is just a little bit of backflow that's our only high chance we're not going to one until them here and now we've just just call it but still that means they dry this dude off here a little bit i mean they're still smoking him up if they're 15 pounds it's going to be some strips is that you guys that must be your brody on that taster because at first it was like it's like 112 3 4 i'm like oh they got a 112 and a three four and then i was like oh they got a 5 12. damn and then it was like 7 12 and i'm like oh we're still in the game [Laughter] well i mean that makes me feel a little bit better that you guys don't have a 5 12 a 7 12 like we thought we really missed something we were just like like carl we're 40 minutes in and we're like 18 pounds they're catching them every cast and they're all five pounds or better the 512 and the 712 was believable as soon as it went 912 i was like [Music] not all of them not all of them that big one no he did that big one though and the ones i call the ones you caught now yeah but like probably two yeah two for yeah all right everyone is having a great evening we have so much fun shooting these events and uh so for some of those who just joined on we have quite a few people out here right now we are this is an og rappel event so this i literally created this bait quite a few years ago actually he made a bill to go into this crank bait and ultimately um came to wrap with this idea and they've come out with a crankbait called an og slim and so in this event we ultimately are all throwing the same crank bait but different colors so in the beginning of this we actually picked out those colors and no one else could throw this so one team got six colors the other team got six colors and we chose those in the beginning so if you want to go back in the meeting this will be posted on the channel later on um so but that is the whole premise of this debate this event was ultimately to shoot one uh one day fishing three hours of competition all throwing the same bait type of bait that is so that has been a lot of fun to shoot we have a five hour break right or five-minute break right now and that is i mean i love this you guys have heard me talk about how much i love uh team formats but this is also just so much fun to do for three hours of competition to be able to go out here um and get on it and try to catch these bass and figure it out because actually we had spent a little bit of time actually gotta just go out there on nickel jack and spend a little bit of time and look at the lake but never caught a fish but then ultimately trying to figure it out and getting a little bit of a hint i've never caught a fish in these areas that we were actually fishing right now these specific spots never even got a bite there or i've never even found these places and so i just rolled up just fishing and just fishing that pattern that we sort of figured out and what that is ultimately is offshore grass fishing some of that offshore grass in that four to six foot zone and i talk a little bit more in depth about this but i will be in the comments um ultimately uh going through some of the questions and trying to reply to you guys we truly appreciate each and every one of you and so for if you guys are enjoying this content make get that deep it just like they did i didn't realize it either i was like sitting there like a pretty good place right there yeah i didn't realize it either i was like when i first saw the bait i was like like yeah one of the first prototypes one of the ones that you know the ones i had the hand done once i've done i sent to them and then their tank testing they called it an eight-footer really i like you sure you want to only call it six i said yeah let's call it 60. he's like it's gonna guarantee that's it that's right yeah that's what i like about like a dt it says dt6 you're going to get six maybe one seven or eight yeah you know on a six footer you know but yeah but for a lot of guys you know that they might like cast as far as we do and so they say well the bait doesn't run that deep no it will but did you see him with oliver though i gotta crank this crankbait in here oh chub these fish out here pretty they are they're really pretty that's a that's a pretty pretty sprung one it keeps a hundred so like a fish that's so actually like we have is that exactly that's right we actually got more time yeah yeah yeah it keeps a you know fish that weighs 157 it's still gonna be a 1 8. you lose that 07. did you see that lasso did you i didn't see you oh look at that right when you right when you caught him that's close to him behind you that i got a straggler soccers it might be a crawdad or a bleached out bluegill or i mean it ain't messed up looking shad yeah i put it back on the full because where i was kind of throwing off the bike yeah hit uh if you want to hit menu it mean you can go down and put it on the front i like it or just hit the plus button just that kind of feels that even helps too and you still get the full circle but uh looks a little more stringy what's the water temp out here you know probably 54 or so we liking that green and white hue yeah yo that's about anybody that's got the line tie in the body like that seems like it happens a little more you know a little more frequently yeah that kind of changes changes him up a bit yeah got some slime on oh my god big holy big small mouth yes good job dude look at that thing show that tank get ready yeah yeah it's not every wave of fish that's already back in that bays and fish were to start spawning yeah they'd still be fish staging in the middle middle april you know they'll still be fish today this fish is spawning yeah a lot of them not just the stragglers yeah i'm not trying to like cherry yeah he called a 10 pounder on the bed right there by the campground yeah there's a lot of guys called fish out that i mean we're spawning fish but you know they just didn't they were just fishing yeah yeah that's just yeah yeah those guys just fishing and catching them shall we didn't even know it i can tell one major difference between us so far wheels you light your trolling motor the wrong way that stuff is just nice single biggest difference yeah but it's got to be an accurate cast or you're not in it like it's got to be a tight car so you're not going to hit the bottom oh [Music] we're going left here right left ah come on yeah the cast yeah for sure thinking about jumping certain level where it just it does it just pushes them off there's no doubt the bait gets where they're like yeah better float out there a lot of times if you don't wedge it too bad it'll back yes yeah yeah just right josh yeah i mean that's the thing is like rip raps is always a good a good thing to fish just to bring the pre-spawn spring yeah post-spawn i mean oh yeah big time the crawdads get there a lot of times there's transition places like bridges causeways and people want to they want to dumb it down be like oh they're just fishing bridges no there's a lot to it they ain't just they just throw your bait out there and reel it back along the along the rocks one tip you feel like you see day in and day out like as far as like a crankbait fisherman i mean i would consider you to be one of the best you know correct shallow water crank the deep deep deep water crankers in our game like you feel like one thing that a lot of anglers miss on crankbait fishing what would you say speed speed absolutely speed um yeah and that and how much you can use speed to uh to help you no doubt i mean there's there's times when i'll go i mean not change colors but you know just speed up speeding up your retrieve and you i mean i know you've seen it too but a lot of people may have heard this but they've not you know not really experienced this fishing line um but uh i'm gonna go from like getting bites missing fish dude speed it up and just start reeling them in you know what i mean i definitely seen it a lot offshore oh yeah big time yeah yeah i definitely see that fun i think the other thing i feel like some guy mess up on is i see i see you do this a lot like you're slowing and feeling your crankbait yeah like that's a huge deal yeah feeling your crankbait like as it sort of goes over places especially hanging stuff yeah you know speed it's just like you sort of get it especially like this right here yes you're on hard stuff feeling that bait sort of crawl over this rock stopping him every once in a while especially the pre-spawn cold water deal that's the water with the i do that so much with a shad wrap you know i mean a shad wrap that i'm fishing fishing slow like that and then i mean just pull you pull it along the bottom and pull it along the bottom and then pull it and go boom and it's but you're still worth it over a jerk bait in the same situation people say well you're pausing the crank bait why don't you just throw a jerk bait it's still a reaction bite even i mean dude i've called them i called him a lotus winner at douglas 40 41 degrees on the shad wrap and you wouldn't catch him on a jerkbait because it is still a reaction bite not that a jerkbait ain't but yeah it's completely different yeah completely different presentation where that fades on the bottom and it's just right off the stuff yeah yeah but that's your favorite shad wrap number five not six really is is it yeah yeah i i mean a five is like it'll always hold a special place but dude that six it just casts so good it gets just a hair deeper i don't know man i really really like that six guys six is pretty much yeah yeah six is dynamite talking about speed me and me and parker were fishing at douglas my boy and uh back in like june last year and we catch them offshore and not they weren't terribly deep we were able to catch them on a 10 you know so it's not near as hard for him to reel as a 16 would be and uh but i mean i mean there's 100 on this place and i'm like dude you gotta reel it faster you gotta really faster you gotta and it he'd catch one like every three or four throws he'd get bit nearly every cast he'd catch whatever one swat and i throw in there and i'm not they're just just burning i mean it's kind of it's a clean place there was no cut you know you didn't have to fish it through anything and man you could it was all about the speed you know [Laughter] yeah you can you can bring a bait back pretty quick stand on that button spot pick up a rod i threw it out there and i was like man i just keep on getting bit on this one right real it was a 6-3 he didn't even know it i didn't even know it was realized that's funny eyes like everything has same pound line same rod same action everything you know except for this little faster reel and you're still turning at the same speed it just was picking up a little more line that's funny literally all the big ones i caught on that right he was like i had three plugs like they were was the one huh yeah that is funny that's i i thought all cranking i i used to be that way i would throw my deep stuff on a 5-4 up until like maybe two or three years ago and i just i just quit switching my reels out i just i crank with a six eight all the time six eight all the time all the time that's that's the only speed i use for cranking whether i mean whether that's a square bill or a dt20 in between and then a five yeah that's i mean in our in our bass pro rails at six eight it goes from five four to six eight yeah so that's you know that's the speeds i got to choose from so yeah okay yeah yeah but it's i mean it it worry down you know i mean yeah it is that's uh even like a 16 boy you start feeling it towards the end of the day but um but yeah that's that's what uh that's what's going on i mean there's something there's some there's some air let me tell you this thing yeah like they're it's like they're out i feel like they're out deeper let's grab this deeper puddle almost feel like they're sitting out a little bit or something oh that spot there yeah i'm software dardanelle uh yeah you remember how muddy the main river was super muddy but there's a good shad spawn going on so i it was like the third day maybe i'd been fishing in piney and uh he's a little cleaner in there i mean i'm running up late and i keep seeing these birds keep seeing these birds and then i see a green tree so i'm like okay i gotta wheel it over and there's like seven birds in this one tree so i wheel it in there and dude i mean it is cool cool cool and just shad just going everywhere dude i swim jig it i chatter baited i spinnerbait it i hear that stick and i'd hit him in the head with anything nothing there you go we gotta loosen it up never get a bite so i actually sat down i took my white swim jig because they wouldn't buy the chatter bait you know i mean if it's super muddy you're like well they bought spinner baits everybody's they'll buy a chatterbait vibration right so i put i take my white jig i take the chunk i put like three glass rattles in it i caught four out of that tree no joke yep i mean like dude on my anti-rattle but i in mighty waters it works it was the same thing it was really muddy yeah i mean you can see yeah you know i remember yeah but i i did i was like i mean i could see them you know and they're feeding and i'm i'm hitting them on the head there's something and i was what i i sit down and put rattles in and i didn't change anything about the jig oh then i put rattles in it and then caught four out of that one tree and went and then just went up the bank in every patch of grass every punch of water willow i'd catch a fish out of yeah with a rattle well like three rattles yeah it was funny but in that extreme we're not talking like off color we're talking extreme stream yeah like a lot of people wouldn't even stop there you can't catch bass in this [Music] um yeah it was it was kind of eye opener and i used to i mean at home fishing the buddy i grew up fishing with a lot and he was really good fisherman he would flip a tube a lot even really muddy water but he'd always use a rattle and i mean i've caught a i've caught a lot of bass with a uh there's something there is something about it yeah with a rattle in the tube still roller yeah we got this this angle right here too okay ain't much of a ripple but it's breaking the surface you know crappie swimming [Music] uh around but the last gunners classic i fished i got the one that randy won man cranking rip rap was my my deal on that one too i had a couple places the first two days i caught them on rip rap but the uh the last day i caught them on on the river on the river water was real stained or it was like really cold and warmed up yeah but the river was still like 48 on the last day i caught an eight pounder on a six like at 1 30 or 2 o'clock or something my fifth fish i had 20. no i just didn't have any other real real good ones [Music] i'll tell you what's so interesting is like how like when you go up in size and line how a rod can get too heavy yeah it's like the perfect rod yeah when you throw 20 it's like whoa this is it's super stiff it's like how much of that you don't realize how much stretch you have with a floor garbage when you go that smaller size yeah and yeah it can yeah it does it really takes the takes a lot of stretch out of it and that heavier stuff broadcasting 7 16. real good i use a seven and a seven six pretty much i mean i use a seven so i have a seven six my series yeah and i have this one so basically i have those two just for this one's more for square bills flat dude look how dark that fish is yeah [Laughter] they're right there uh-huh we've cranked a lot of rocks i was i was really shocked and we had to start patting them okay yeah that was like a i mean that fish was it yeah in just that shallow man i've absolutely busted them on shallow you know usually when it's muddy but man i've caught them on three foot deep rip rap you know in the spring oh yeah yeah it's going to get chained up over there on teleco there's some real shallow rip raps like that that man when it gets muddy they can yeah i'm not being too too scared do you know they got us you know they swim around on it when the water's clear i mean why wouldn't i it's going to be just as warm you know but dang you can't get them to bite yeah yeah you can forget about that that stuck got him i had one did you grass flats rip rat banks and that was sort of the deal we were on so just giving you guys a little bit of understanding like what sort of what's going on um water was that mid you know load of up upper mid 50s you know 50 degrees to about 55 i mean that's what we're doing so back to the back to the to the goods [Music] the hard bomb or that grass was there grass a lot of it yeah you got to be a fish in that i mean three or four uh yeah this is just the grass just got down in it really good uh huh yeah the inside corner of us that's the stuff right there that should have been should have snapped out that and went the other way fish oh yeah what they wanted what's it gonna be oh are you gonna do it i threw it in there snap snap snap [Music] when i got it in the tail of the bait was still sticking out of his throat and the the front hook was like back in his in his tongue almost i mean had the bait sucked in headphones crappie it says 3.43 that's a lot of not uh yeah if you could all that's left of it out of the hydrilla but most of them being actually an eelgrass um but both are good shallow side of that island anytime you've got a mixture like that that's always always a good thing it could be just a spot where there's a bunch of spotted bass and smaller ones and we can yeah not on a crankbait but a little swimmer yeah yeah just today they might be up let's make sure
