empirical provide compelling interactive learning across a range of delivery options live on site live online or online anytime we have a training course that is ideal for you for a no obligations chat about your training requirements contact us at empirical.com technologies like ethernet wi-fi and more recently lte are widely deployed as private network technology solutions and now 5g has been added to that mix now with respect to a private 5g network in the terminology of the 3gpp it's actually called a non-public network so the public network would be the network that typical subscribers would be using and they would have a subscription to a mobile service provider for that privilege so the non-public network is a is effectively a clause network now in this scenario it's an industrial type setting so we're using a private 5g network to provide connectivity between some kind of control system and a series of different end devices but industrial use is just one use case we could quite easily deploy 5g in a pure enterprise environment where 5g is is replacing what could have been an ethernet or maybe a wi-fi deployment some key characteristics first of all the network itself can be comprised of virtual and physical elements so the run side of things the radio access points they would be obviously physical elements but then the core network side of things will be virtualized and it could be on site or it could be in the cloud we've also got several different deployment models that can actually exist and will cover those deployment models momentarily and then finally there will be and there has to be controlled access for the devices that might use this private 5g network so we can't let any old device access the network we don't even want these devices to try and even register with the network if they're not allowed on so the 3gpp have actually manipulated the specifications to make sure that devices that are indeed supposed to be using private 5g networks are the only devices that will try to connect in normal devices will not consider private 5g networks as a potential 5g run before we look at those deployment models last point to note is it's quite possible that our private network could indeed connect into public networks but you will have some pretty hefty security to protect each of those networks now more on the deployment models in essence there are two ways to deploy at high level a private 5g network so we've got what called standalone non-public networks and public network integrated non-public networks this again is 3gpp terminology now the standalone npn is a fairly straightforward model so here we've got the normal public 5g network that typical users would be using it includes the user plane so that would be the gnb the rand side of things and also the user plan function and also the core control which is service based architecture with a standalone non-public network deployment it is exactly that the private 5g network the non-public network really has nothing to do with the public network so it doesn't have to be a mobile service provider that actually deploys this non-public network you could have vendors or infrastructure companies which are also in the market for deploying private 5g it's quite possible that the two could have connectivity as i mentioned in the previous slide we would see some serious border protection used if that is the case so that's standalone on public networks the other alternative that we mentioned was public network integrated non-public networks and this is where we start to see the non-public network share resources from the public network now we only have one example here and this is a run sharing model whereby our private network is actually using elements of the run so the private or the non-public network has its own user plan path it has its own control plane but it shares gnbs with the public network so obviously the mobile service provider would be involved in the deployment of this this is one example of public network integrated npns but you may get also court network sharing as well so not just run but core also you could have a case where it's completely outsourced so the private network could actually be operating as a network slice on the mobile service provider's public network need to know more why not visit our store where you can choose from over 200 hours of video based training alternatively you can contact us to discuss any specific training requirements you may have
