about having one of Priscilla's lovers murdered he kept her on the receiving end of his non-stop calling for years both during the day and at all hours of the night until the day he passed away August Priscilla had mistakenly believed that fatherhood would change Elvis and make him more responsible above all she had prayed that it would help him to stop taking the drugs that controlled his personality and that she freely admitted he had persuaded her to try Lisa Marie and Priscilla had instead revealed how the Stars spoiled their daughter as his own behavior deteriorated into an unhealthy Reliance on prescription medications at the center of Elvis and Priscilla's final chat was Lisa Marie's stay with her father at Graceland where the two had their final conversation despite their divorce and even on the night he died Elvis made a distressing phone call to Priscilla he wanted her back the king begged her to return but their final exchange was fraught Hitchens claimed the last time Elvis spoke to his ex-wife was by telephone on the night he died during that call they'd argued over travel arrangements for Lisa Marie their little daughter who'd asked for my help writing her letter to Daddy that afternoon in Priscilla's Garden it had been a tense conversation but at least they were on speaking terms and that had raised Mary Jenkins hopes of a marital reunion which might curb some of Elvis's excesses although their chat had been tense at least they were still able to communicate with one another Mary Jenkins expectations for a successful marriage reconciliation
