Prince Charles Concerned About Diana Portrayal On 'The Crown'

so the crown premiered season four yesterday and it introduced diana into the story line which meant it brought all that drama back up for royal watchers as charles and diana's tumultuous relationship played out on screen so today charles and camilla were in berlin for morning day and while the palace has never confirmed that they have watched the series you can't help but think these two are very aware that their relationship is now being dramatized for millions of people and they don't come off very well so royal expert amid scooby was on good morning america this morning giving that palace inside scoop and then here's a key scene from the crown there are real concerns coming from the palace that the people watching season four of the crown will take it for gospel charles and camilla are a couple that have spent decades trying to repair their image and just at a time when they've gained popularity in the uk that all faces major risk this new season follows diana's journey as a new member of the royal family someone that was adored but quickly laughed at and mocked within the institution the monarchy it brings parallels to megan's very recent journey and highlights a very big problem within the institution the exquisite selfishness of your motives and the calculated vulgarity of the antics knowing full well the headlines they would get antics grandstanding like that you think we couldn't do that to theatrically hug the wretched and the dispossessed and cover ourselves in glory all over the front pages i doubt it you barely find it in yourselves to hug your own i hug who i want to i hug who i love particularly when they are affected by the selfishness of others in need tearing up who are you referring to camilla why would i care about her because i care about her morning noon and night i care about her and you've hurt her and if you hurt her you hurt me okay so josh o'connor who plays charles on the crown told entertainment weekly he was careful how he played the royal i didn't want to play the character of charles as a villain i don't think he is i think he is someone who is very lost as we see in season three he's the same person as in season three he needs something from diana that she can't offer him just as she needs from him something he can't offer her so it's a tragedy really so yeah alexis says the only person i feel sorry for is princess diana so luna was saying having lived through the 90s would it make sense to jump in the season four without having seen the previous seasons yeah that's the thing like i mean you don't have to see the previous seasons obviously you know they've profiled queen elizabeth up to this point through the first three seasons but yeah you have no problem uh jumping in uh at this point mia says i can't wait uh to watch it afril says diana has always been and always will be the people's princess and unfortunately that will always put charles in the role of being the uncharming of all princesses he was an outright jerk to diana mio says i feel saffrodana charles was evil donna says i feel i understand her life yeah so one luna it's interesting that now the point that we're at in the crown that i think the previous seasons there are people that are watching that were around during that time but now we're really getting to that point where a lot of the viewers are very aware of this time frame for the crown so there's going to be way more scrutiny about how they play this out and yeah it's interesting with prince uh prince charles and camilla that i almost find that charles and camilla ever since dana passed away that he's really tried to stay under the radar and even when he got back with camilla it was like let's just keep under the radar and let you know time will just like improve our public images and that's what kind of happened i feel like now people are just kind of like meh it's charles and camilla i don't think there's that that hate towards them anymore but this kind of reignites it and i think i'm sure charles is like oh man like i was just getting to a good place with the public and now like oh this is all coming out so yeah they can't be too happy that this is uh this is all happening um yes he says just because the other crown doesn't mean they're any less scandalous than the kardashians yeah it's interesting how it's playing out and i wonder too how much of it is actually true i watched almost watched the first two episodes uh yesterday i know some people you know binged the whole series all 10 episodes yesterday so yeah it's going to be interesting how it is accepted how much uh really how much of it was is really true because they are dramatizing at a certain point you don't really know what happened beyond scenes but yeah these first couple episodes it's like i mean the royal life is screwed up anyways yeah just the idea that charles was in love with camilla but she was already married and then he had to find someone and he kind of thought dan was cute and like here we go so yeah not the greatest circumstances to start uh a marriage so yeah it's it's going to be interesting how this is accepted and what if the the crown has any response which i doubt they will because they've never admitted that they watched the show i think william or harry might have admitted at some point that they watch it and the other thing that people are pointing out that you know this is really dramatizing the royals and very you know taking a lot of creative license with the royals harry has a deal with netflix like harry's gonna start doing all this programming with netflix and netflix is doing the show that's completely dramatizing his family so you wonder at a certain point is there a conversation there is harry going to speak up about how this is playing out it's just an odd circumstance yeah now that harry has this big deal with netflix and netflix at the show or the network that's doing this show so yeah i don't know if there's weird conversations uh happening there nelson says i wish they wouldn't do it in modern time it is drama not documentary but people think it is the truth and that's part of the reason that the creator said that they're not going to eventually get to megan markle uh but he did say you know this diana storyline kind of parallels what meghan markle uh went through but yeah to do the meghan markle just too close right now you don't know you don't know enough about the meghan markle harry story to really dramatize it yeah so the creator said that they're not gonna get to it they're going up to season six yeah but they're not going to get to the introduction of meghan markle paul says the royal life is so screwed up anyways it really is enjoy life at a certain point they got these nice palaces but is it really that great of a life

Charles is not looking spectacular at 72. If the Queen holds on for another 4-5 years, it's going to be a rather interesting look at the coronation.

If memory serves, Charles is already 7 years older than the oldest person ever to assume the throne of England.
