let's talk about speakers got YouTube and I'm back with my second video this is about speakers this is about your difference between your passive and your powered speakers in the last video I told you if you're doing your first event you should probably go for the powered speaker because you don't have to worry about the amp and the matching of power and all the stuff you don't really want to care about when you just want to listen to fat jeans in our last video we were talking about this little hypothetical situation you've got where you've got a little barn dance or rave makes birthday party where you've got a couple of people on stage you've got a mixer you got your outputs from your mixer and it needs to go to something so you only need to have an amp powering a speaker or you have to have the speaker that's powered with the amp built-in that you plug into so just to show you a bit about those and a bit of what the difference is I've got myself some power got myself a jack got yourself an XLR you remind yourself what what those are and here I've just got my phone with mini Jack pretty standard going to a mono jack which I've also got a little converter to an XLR to incur get into them right starting off let's go to our passive setup so this is the one where you need an amp as well as you can see this is our passive speaker pretty like chuck it about and inside you've got a tweeter woofer just like a big hype I on the back of that you've got two terminals you've got your red and black like a hi-fi cable connected and that's going over to the back of the amp over here before I go there a bit about this amp this is a 500 watt amp and it's got two channels a channel and B channel you might have this for your front of house so if you've got a 250 watt speaker for your left and 250 for your right your 500 watt total power output would be enough to cover those two speakers because you'd have 250 watts for your left channel and 250 for your right channel but this is a 500 watt speaker so in fact we haven't got enough for this to run app full to be able to power this so we pushing it to its fullest potential this however won't draw too much out of this today because we're not going to be pushing that hard however ideally you would like a thousand watt amp with 500 per channel so you can power to 500 watt speakers like this one on the front we've got our power just a little switch and we've got two channels and there's our volumes there for each channel a and B got a bit more technical side of it you've got our terminals which is our output here which is going to our speaker so red and black again or that could also be done by speak on if your passive speaker has a speak on input which this one that usually doesn't cover of inputs on this one we've got the XLR which is here that's our balanced input and we've also got the unbalanced input which is our jack now with our little set up we could have used both but for this we're just going to use this XLR input and stick that in channel a like so there we go right that in the back Justin it's just a kettle lead or an eye you see lead whatever you want to call it smack that off I'll be listening to this tune ever since my mate Jimmy all the best mate we did this insane run the other day did a nuts challenge which was pretty cool it's basically a 14 kilometer assault course and in the car on the way up him and his girlfriend played me this tune it was absolutely cracking hopefully you liked it anyway power on there's some music you can hear the sound coming through and that's all on Channel eight so ideally you would also have a channel B that'd be your left and right anyway enough of that for now we'll come back set on the next one so essentially once I turn all that off is our passive setup just have your speaker separate from your amp and you'll find a place for your and somewhere dry out the way that's not going to get full of crap remember you got fans in the back of that so it's dragging stuff in if you put that on the floor then you're getting into loads of grass and stuff in it you don't want that right moving on to our powered set up and hopefully back to the tune this is a powered speaker and as you can see very similar to this one a bit bigger because it's got bit all built into it and a different company that made it tweeter woofer but more importantly this is where your magic happens this is the Amplatz into the speaker now this amp is made for this speaker it doesn't come apart it's a it's all there ready to use and you won't have any problems we're trying to push this too hard or pull that too hard with your power and your sound going into it because it's made for it which is nice couple of inputs mic input one mic input - they've tried to be a bit accommodating with any sort of mobile disco or DJ that could be out there you've also got your line level input which is what we're using which is a non amplified input here we go we also need our power back our UC kettle leads same power and turn it on there now just press play on our phone again there you go got cheese back I didn't need to worry about I'm positing this worry about didn't need to worry about all the cables going out back or where it's running to and from you just stick down on a tripod and jack it up in the air above people's heads and it's done everything you've got it all there are you oh listen to this this is such a safe drop Oh but here on the back is a treble and your bass treble bass that's something that's quite nice about these powers because it's got the ability to just do a little bit being cueing but you don't have on the passive setup so you go anyway go to our little video that is essentially it that is the difference between passive and powered speakers now I said originally that I recommend you get your power to be here because there's less faff and I still stand by that you know some of the top makes in the world still do powered speakers may sound they've got powered speakers a lot doing this setup they do it in different ways with speed cons and stuff sometimes it's quite nice having all your amps in one place but if you're doing your first gig I recommend doing that is so much easier your amps already powered spectable your your big speaker and it's just saving yourself at all you don't have to worry about where you're placing your amp and stuff like that just be sensible with it have a quality time really I hope that's been informative this was my second video so if you liked it please give us the thumbs up please give us a tick if you got any questions leave a little comment ah just spat anyway whatever I'll catch you next time thank you very much and I hope that helped bye you
