guys how we doing welcome to good works tractors i am excited to give you an update today about a new product that i have actually been developing working with a fabricator so my first product that i'm bringing to the market what you're going to see here goes by a few different names i call the stump bucket you might even see it called a front hoe bucket or you may even hear it called a poor man's backhoe like what you see back here because it's a fraction of the price maybe it doesn't do everything a backhoe does but it accomplishes a lot of the same tasks and when i say a fraction of the price i'm talking roughly 10 percent of the cost of tobacco so if you own a small tractor a subcompact or even a small compact could be a large compact too and you like tractor stuff i'd encourage you to hit that subscribe button right underneath the video and if you like what you see here consider giving me a thumbs up as well and if you're looking for more information on products like what you see here in this video or maybe an accessory or attachment check out that description below there's going to be all sorts of helpful links down there for cool tractor products or head on over to goodworkstractors.com so what are you going to use this attachment for so of course you're going to use it to dig stumps out smaller stumps i'm not talking you know 30 inch diameter trees or something like that but you still have to think about your tractor's capacity and what it can do but landscape shrubs if you want to clear an area to put a garden in a food plot that kind of thing just dig those up work from different angles we're going to do some field test action on that a little bit later too other tasks as well so if you want to dig a shallow trench if you have half buried rocks or boulders that you want to dig out and pick them up and transport around if you're looking to do some grading or scratching or scarifying you can do that with this attachment as well so it's a multi-purpose attachment it's nice to have it mounted on the front of the tractor where you can have more control with your loader joystick versus looking backwards and using the three-point i designed this attachment with smaller tractors in mind so again subcompact tractors smaller compacts maybe to around 30 32 horse really not intended until i can prove it out maybe on my 4066r that it can be used on bigger tractors and perhaps we just make a heavy duty or a beefier version down the road at some point there's a lot of work behind the scenes to make this all happen and we are in fact on rendition or variation three in the prototype phase here so what you're seeing is the latest and greatest all the improvements we made to date originally i started out with what you see here a design that allows you to actually mount this stump bucket right to your pallet fork frame so it mount in the same manner that you would take your pallet fork tines on and off or slide them left or right same concept right here initially designed to fit the hla frame of of class 2 pallet forks the subcompactor the light duty and the medium duty pallet fork frame however this should be a fairly standard setup to be able to work on other pallet fort frames as well that are also class 2. there's been a lot of initial interest and some of that has also been about the different styles of connections that we could offer so we've introduced now a john deere quick attach style as well as a skid steer quick attach style to work with a lot of other variations out there and not having to use a pallet fork frame so with these three different attachment styles available you know we've opened this up to a huge portion of the tractor market that's out there probably a good 80 percent of tractors out there are going to have a john deere quick attach a skid steer quick attach or a set of pallet forks where you can put this right onto the frame it's one of the big reasons i always encourage folks to make sure you get some version of a quick attach on your front end loader not just have a pin down bucket because that really limits the versatility of it okay let's go over some features the latest and greatest we've been making improvements it's one of the great things about actually basically being the manufacturer you know is i get to have direct say and what we modify what we change based on user feedback you know some things are just not practical they seem like they're good on paper but in reality they just don't make sense or they're not cost effective there's various reasons why certain features are not implemented on here but i want to do everything i can to constantly improve so what you see here will probably change over time and that's okay now the first thing i am very proud to say is this is 100 usa steel and it's also manufactured right in the good old usa you're going to see we've improved our serrated edge design to really mimic more of a sawzall or reciprocating saw type of blade here you know when i used and i'm going to use it again today actually i'm not going to use the latest design in our field test i'm going to use an earlier rendition but what i found is that the design that we had on here really didn't rip or cut like i wanted to going in and out and so this gives you more of a dual action slicer you know so when you're going in and when you're pulling it back out it could rip both directions there and i think really make it more efficient we even tried one rendition with more of a real jagged sharp like a shark tooth kind of design but found it really wasn't very robust the teeth were getting damaged too quickly so scratch that pretty quick you'll also see here we have slightly revised our cutting edge or our replaceable bolt on two section here you know this is meant to be the sacrificial portion of the stump bucket so this will fail before causing more damage to the stump bucket itself it may be a good idea to end up getting one or two replaceable wedges along with your stump bucket now for the version that does attach to your pallet fork frame you're gonna see an integrated grab handle right here and then also a chain slot down here so you can put a piece of chain link in there and then be able to strap it around something and pull if you want to we've also and i learned this the hard way but i damaged or i bent the top rail when it was a single piece of quarter inch steel we've now reinforced this area here because sometimes when you're leaning forward and pushing against a tree or a log you know this is going to take a lot of pressure a lot of force right here so we ended up doubling up the steel here to give it some more strength as well so the pallet fork version really has you know the same kinds of hooks that are welded on here that your pallet forks would have also so one is mounted or welded right to the back of the stump bucket or the front hoe bucket so what you'll do is you'll slide the stump bucket right on this section of the frame there and then this piece is going to go onto the the frame as well you'll put it through and you can lock it in place with the spring lock right here and then you'll secure it with these linchpins just like that some of the problems i saw with the other stump buckets and front hoe buckets that are available on the market are that they're just too big for smaller tractors you know if you have something that's way out here a smaller machine just doesn't have the leverage to be able to really utilize it to its full ability so a lot of thought has gone into sizing this proportionally to fit the smaller machines both shortening it up front to back this way we've also narrowed it left to right to give it more focus and more force in one located area versus spreading it out over too big of a surface our measurement from the back of the bucket to the front of the cutting edge is approximately 18 and a half inches and our width across the bottom at the front or the the business end of this attachment is roughly eight inches i want to get you a weight on these stump buckets as well so first we'll take a look at the pallet fork version which is going to weigh about 91 pounds give or take next up here we have the skid steer quick attached version which you'll see weighs in right about the same amount 91 pounds the last one on the scale is going to be the john deere quick attached version you'll see that we have that weighing in about 107 pounds something to keep in mind is that these weights could adjust over time as we make modifications to the design so this again is the third prototype and the next step for the evolution is going to be doing a field trial with a very small sample eight to ten folks that i ship these out to and then we get it in their hands i want a nice variety of applications with different models of tractors a little bit different size attractors obviously the different mounts as well get all that feedback and make the most robust piece of equipment that i can for you guys so depending on when you're watching this video we could be in pre-production we could be in the pre-order phase or we could be in the full swing of things as well so if you like what you see here make sure you hit subscribe underneath that video and head on over to good works tractors to get more information on this attachment now we're gonna get loaded up and head out to do a field test [Music] so so there [Music] all right guys we're out in the field gonna do the field test here give you some uh looks good looks at different things you can do with this some of it we're just going to tear up some ground just to tear up some ground we own a daycare center on the other side of town and so we have a kind of a play area a nature area for the kids out back here and we do have some saplings that are in the way that i've been wanting to clear out i'm going to tackle that with a stump bucket something i want you to keep in mind is that this stunt bucket does not require any additional hydraulic or electric connection so you just simply take your bucket off you put the stump bucket on and away you go i briefly want to go over my setup though because anytime you have something on the front on here with the front end loader you want to have proper adequate stability on the back side and how you accomplish that is through the the use of something like what you see here a weight bracket and suitcase weights you could put a ballast box on here i have dual wheels that are actually on the back side as well all of them are loaded with liquid ballasts so i have a lot of ballast weight on here over a thousand pounds which is going to be what's required on a tractor this size so when you see everything here know there's a lot of weight liquid inside these tires that are adding to that counterweight giving that stability when i'm using the front end loader [Music] so [Music] so so so so so so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so alrighty what do you say we go find something bigger to dig out [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] do [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] oh these are uh noise canceling by the way okay ear protection right here when i first put them in i actually thought the tractor turned off because the noise cancelling takes effect after a few seconds so ear protection hopefully this gives you a good look here at what this stump bucket front hoe bucket whatever you want to call it poor man's backhoe what it can do of course it's not going to dig a six or seven foot hole it's just not your deep hole but it's just not designed to do that but it can accomplish a lot of the smaller projects you know popping the small brush out of here again if you have landscaping so you want to redo your landscaping around your house or add a new bed in somewhere you know you can pull out all the old stuff and put the new stuff in get those holes prepped for planting the new shrubs and trees that you want to go in there as well you're going to see it's good at tackling the smaller just saplings that are here you know we went back and tackled a uh i don't know how wide it was seven or eight inch diameter maybe at most a tree back there could be six inch but somewhere in that range a tree further back that i've wanted to get out of here for a while and and probably tackle that in 10 minutes or less as well we also did some trenching out here with it as well keep in mind this area all back here used to be a parking area years ago probably decades ago for semi-trailers so it had a lot of fill that was brought in and there's even a bunch of leftover kind of crushed up asphalt or other materials in here too so this was not ideal for trenching you can see the huge rocks that are all throughout here but it did manage to trench right down through that when you are trenching with one of these stump buckets you don't want to go all the way down you know curly or dump your bucket all the way down because you don't want those cylinder rods extended the whole way as you're driving forward especially if you're going too fast or you hit something really abrupt the more that those rods are extended the more likely you are to break something so you want to trench in passes kind of like what you saw me doing where you take a few inches you go back you take another pass grab another few inches and that kind of thing so it's still going to save you a heck of a lot of time but just be smart about it you want to protect your tractor that way i'm going to go ahead and throw the grapple back on we'll gather all of our saplings stack them up in a pile somewhere so i can take care of them later on and then see if we can kind of backfill these holes a little bit as well [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] i think this is going to be good enough for now we did a little bit of grading with the grapple itself just to fill in the main potholes but this is going to lead to another project on how we can do a final prep and get this ready for seed before spring i'm not really sure how to uh level out and grade an old parking lot full of rock and crumbling asphalt but uh i wonder if this is a job for the rhino tiller who knows maybe we'll use something else got to do a little brainstorming to figure that out so make sure to look out for that video in the future well again that stunt bucket in action there was the the generation two so we're on generation three now and it's just gonna continue to improve but you can see it works really well really effective i will say the vision is a little restricted but you can kind of peek around the side of the machine and as long as you can see that angle and you get used to it i will say after a while you get used to the angle that you want to kind of attack saplings and i think it depends on the type of tree or shrub or whatever that you're chasing you know how you want to go into it because smaller saplings or or bushes you can go directly at them but the bigger one like what we did out here you kind of want to come and dig along both sides of it maybe dig around the whole perimeter there get the bigger roots that are involved get those broken up and then you can actually just push the tree along and kind of weak it weaken it that way front and back side to side and then go for your kill shot you know so it's a little bit of a learning curve but it doesn't take that long it sure beats a shovel i can tell you that and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a backhoe so if you like what you see here you want to get more information about that stump bucket read through that description below there's going to be links to where you can go to get that or other cool tractor products you might see mirrors or suitcase weights or a quick hitch or all sorts of stuff there's a lot of links down below so i encourage you to check it out also if you wouldn't mind give me a thumbs up and make sure you hit that subscribe button right underneath the video if you want to see more cool videos like this thanks so much for stopping by until next time stay safe we'll see you soon [Music] you
