Pokemon Ruby Hardcore Nuzlocke With Shiny Eeveelutions ONLY

so we all love eeveelutions right well at least i hope you do because this is gonna be my attempt at beating a hardcore nuzlocke of pokemon omega ruby with only shiny eeveelutions this was suggested by abby in my comments so i pulled it as an option for my next video and you all overwhelmingly wanted to see it so we're here if you have any dope suggestions for future challenges leave them in the comments and your idea could be next and yes you heard me correctly in the intro i will be shiny hunting for every single eevee in this run you should know that i bumped up the shiny odds a bit because i want to finish this run before pokemon go 2 is released for the iphone x squared it's just a work-life balance thing fun fact about eeveelutions they all have the exact same bass stat numbers just moved around slightly this makes each one specialized in one aspect but pretty bad in others espeon for example hits incredibly hard with special attacks and has a good speed stat but it can't take a physical hit at all this should make the run interesting since each member will have a really specific role to play if you enjoy these videos please leave a like as that helps out so much into this while we're starting off the game i want to get a few things out of the way one you might be thinking i picked some of the easiest games to do this run in and while that is true this is a hardcore nuzlocke so along with the standard nuzlocke rules i'm not allowed to use any items in battle other than held items i cannot over level my pokemon past the next gym leader elite four members ace and i must play the entire game on set mode along with these rules i have some special additions that i think should spice things up but we'll go over them as they come up second i picked this game because it's one of the few in the franchise where you can evolve most of your eevees before the first gym you'll see okay so to start off i save in front of this mountain of a man who is letting a little puppy bully him and i start soft resetting for my first shiny you can technically find an eevee on an early route in this game if you have the national decks but my grandma works at sony so she sent me a copy of the game where all the starters have been replaced with evies and all the early routes have been populated with them as well it's just to smooth the early game out it takes about 460 soft resets but eventually the eevee and the trico slot shines i picked this specific one because it will give mae blaziken later and the fire chicken should be the most difficult starter for us to face since it'll have super effective stab moves for three of our future pokemon i name her kari and as always my nicknames have a theme and it's up to you to guess it i'm actually giving no hints this time because i think the audience overlaps a ton if you know it let me know in the comments down below so now i could go through every single encounter in the early game one by one but instead watch this super cut of me catching every single eevee all at once all said and done this took me about two work days and somewhere near 1 000 dex nav encounters i could have done it much more quickly but since i used the dexnav method i wanted to make sure a few of my evs had special moves or hidden abilities now with my full squad of little foxcat things i can work on evolution requirements and in the oras games you can do most of this right now so i acquire a thunder water and firestone in the super secret training increase the happiness of members of my team increase one evie's affection with pokemon and me and since we already have access to petalburg woods you get this super cut as well a shiny flareon jolteon vaporeon s behind umbreon leafeon and sylveon all before the first gem we'll get a glacion at some point but it'll be much later their names are kari izzytai rika sora joe and mimi with a team like this it should be impossible not to feel safe for the first gym almost as that i had a few rules to make this run more difficult that we would go over later and well it's later first i will not be doing any intentional ev training in this run instead opting to level with rare candies i'll still get some evs from mandatory trainer battles but i shouldn't be close to fully eevee trained by the end of the run second i will only allow myself to use the same number of pokemon as each gym leader elite four member and finally well actually just watch i lock in rika and joe for the roxanne fight because of the type advantages and honestly since she just has a geodude and a nosepass this should be dumb easy oh that's odd so she has a golem now it ends up not mattering a ton since rika can just take the rock lizard out with a few razor leafs leaving roxanne with only a nose pass and oh psych so in case you haven't caught on the last thing i did to make the run more difficult was to give all the gym leaders and some other important battles fully evolved pokemon if i'm using a full team of evolutions the game would be a breeze until around gym four or five so this is how i remedy that after slicing down her golem with some sharp leaves i realized that rika is just not going to be able to take out this oversized nose with its massive defense stat so we switch into joe who was able to win the first badge by splashing the provo pass a few times with roxanne beaten we are invited to speak to the wealthiest man in the hoenn region and he seems to worship lord helix but this is an eevee only run so can we change the picture to something a little more appropriate and indoctrinate him into the church of genealogy there better after a brisk ride on a boat we land in dewford town and it's already time for the next gem i'm locking in mimi and tai once again for their type advantages so we ready up and challenge broly i lead off with mimi into his machamp and a couple of fairy wins are just enough to obliterate forearms here he sends in his ace hariyama but mimi leveled up and learns swift in this battle which is now a fairy type move with boosted power that just doesn't miss thanks to pixelate so a few swifts later and thickens here drops winning me the second gym badge i'm not gonna lie we had really good team options for the first two gym fights these were not hard we now have to go talk to steven who's hidden away in a cave researching or whatever it is smart people do and honestly this clip doesn't really have a point or advance the video in any meaningful way but i just want to show off steven when i can because he's now we can make our way to slateport city and here we run into the team magma leader for the first time and i guess i'm just so used to playing alpha sapphire and seeing archie here but instead maxi shows up and this dude is such a nerd archie is charismatic looks like blue jack sparrow and is ready to drown the planet maxi looks like he is a shift leader at officemax and claims he works in tech since he touches a computer once in a while it's just a big paradigm shift in the main antagonist of the game on my way up to marvel city we have to face may in the infamous run ending rival fight and i briefly alluded to this earlier but i also gave her in a few other important battles fully evolved teams so this fight is actually now kind of scary may leads off with whaler so i start with rika and a whirlpool does no damage as we make some whale sashimi with some sharp leaves she sends out her blaziken neck so i switch into joe taking a soft flame charge and on the next term i chunk the karate bird for most of its health with a water pulse as it just charges again a follow up double kick does a ton of damage though but not enough to ko letting joe drown the chicken on the next turn her final pokemon is a bree loom so i switch into tai who takes a solid headbutt but on the next turn outpaces and one shots the punchy mushroom with a confusion the blaziken could have definitely caused some problems here had it double kicked twice instead of flame charging twice but mei's a bad trainer what are you gonna do we finally get into marvel and before we can take on the gym while he wants to fight yes i could have given him a fully evolved glade at this point in the game because i think he is technically considered an important battle but i intentionally left his team alone because while he's a little piss baby and he needs to struggle to grow up and get not sick or whatever so i absolutely throttle him and now we can take on the third gen for this battle i'll be locking in kari sora and rika rika and sora provide me with an electric resist and immunity respectively and kary will be the only way i can hit magna zones for any meaningful damage so i lock in the team and challenge watson i lead off with sora into his first magna zone and go for a double kick to break sturdy which surprisingly does about 25 even off of sora's garbage attack stat the magnets go for a volt switch which fizzles thanks to volt absorb and this provides me with the perfect switch in akari who comes in on a soft tackle and then dumpsters magnazone with a firefang watson sends out electrode so i switch into sora attempting to soak up another vault switch but instead the sentient pokeball just goes for charge which is somehow even better for me i decided to start clicking fake tears to lower at special defense which gets watson stuck in a loop of charging to raise the special defense that i'm harshly lowering eventually i get its special defense stat low enough and i take it out with a few thundershocks after watson heals it his ace is another magna zone so i once again have sora double kick it to break it sturdy and send in kari to play cleanup crew with another firefang winning me the third badge we can now head to the north most part of hoenn where we find ourselves running around in massive craters and eventually in meteor falls where we have to fight some more magma goons because they've taken a scientist captive and for some reason that's a child's problem to fix but this is wildly unentertaining content so let's skip to the part of the story where we head to mount chimney and find team magma and aqua participating in illegal dogfights not very peta of you and then we're tasked with trying to stop maxie from hold on let me check my story notes here from trying to create a mega stone for groudon by putting a meteorite and some lava do i even really need to do anything here just let this dude go play in lava i'm sure he'll be fine anyway we have to challenge him so i lead off with rika into his mighty enna and after a swagger gives her a free attack boost and her persenberry cures the confusion she obliterates the hyena wool hybrid with a rock smash maxi sends out his camera up next and as you already know joe switches in freely here and just drowns the camel where it stands forcing maxie into his last pokemon golbat which i take out with two aurora beams okay maxie i'm gonna turn around and leave but you have to pinky promise me you won't go play in the lava okay i'm trusting you not to go play in the lava buddy don't let me down i secretly hope he goes and plays in the lava so with that minor detour out of the way it's time for the fourth gem every single one of flannery's pokemon has the ability to set up sunny day so the name of the game is to deny her that so joe can just clean sweep here honestly fully evolving her pokemon probably made this goal a little bit easier and i thought about changing macargo to something actually useful but then that opened up the rabbit hole of giving all gym leaders custom teams and better pokemon and i just didn't want to spend the mental energy on that so i lock in joe kari and tai for this fight and challenge flannery i lead off with kari because for some reason i had it in my head that i would bait out a rock type attack dodge it with dig and then oco and somehow that would prevent sun or light screen from going up and while both of those things happened i could have just led with joe and outright ko'd the snail i don't remember if i thought macargo would out speed or maybe if it had sturdy but neither of those things are true so joe just could have flooded her gym here and it would have been fine still kari picks up the ko on the slug and then joe comes in to wash away the other two pokemon with a few water pulses winning us the fourth badge super easy fight the fourth and fifth gyms are pretty back to back so we just head straight to good old dad's gym and it's strategy time since i've fully evolved every gym leader's team he has three slackings which is an insane amount of stats on one team but as we all know truant is a garbage ability so i lock in my three and challenge him i lead off with rika and on turn one i go for a sword stance i'm using this turn to gauge if i out speed and the attack boost will just help me break through all these slots bolt we see that i do outpace as i get off the sword stance and then we take a pretty soft retaliate thanks to leafeon's great defense stat since i know we're faster i set up another sword stance on the loafing turn and from here it's dig time baby dig will essentially function like protect in this fight letting rika be immune during all of the slacking's active turns and attack during their loafing turns if she had been slower that would have also been fined since you can just dig on the loafing turns and then be underground for the active turns swordstance wasn't really needed here it just lets me break through more quickly so with some cleverly timed digs and opportune rock smashes we take down norman's entire team of sloth gods with just a single pokemon pretty hype honestly now that we have the fifth badge i've finally unlocked surf which makes joe even more of a threat moving forward and more importantly allows us to progress in the game this is the part where i normally show steven giving us one of the lady twins for free but i guess i just forgot to grab that footage so straight to the weather institute we go there isn't much to do here honestly we have to drown a couple magma grunts and then slap up tabitha's cameramps but it's all pretty easy when we leave here though may ambushes us before we enter the next town and since our team is fully evolved oh well this specific fight was kind of hard to look for and i guess i just missed it i'm not gonna go back and re-edit this game just for one fight i'm sorry let this be an example of how mindless the early game could have been this fight was always an easy clap for us either way it's the next may fight that's actually pretty tricky after dumpster in may i make my way to fortress city and head straight to the gym to challenge winona and i lock in sora joe mimi and tai for this fight but honestly sora is probably just enough i lead off with her into winona's first bird and just shock it out of the sky with a thundershock after taking a quick attack she sends out her ace altaria neck so i pivot into joe and murk her second bird with a single aurora beam from here it's just clean up as i have joe pass a wish to sora who comes in on a soft aerial lace from helper and goes back up to full health i click thundershock three more times and fry the rest of her birds for the sixth badge after winning this fight i realize i have the tms for vault switch and charge beam in my bag which would have made this already incredibly one-sided battle that much more skewed in my favor oh well the more you know on my way to the next area i realize that the weather in hoenn makes zero sense look at this it's a heavy downpour a whole ass storm if you will take a few steps south no rain you can't even see the rain from before where did it go go back north just a little bit rain starts up just as heavy again scientists should be investigating this for sure like screw the super legendary pokemon we should just be figuring out why the rain in the hoenn region doesn't work correctly we now have to follow team magma to mount pirate and we find this nerd maxi stealing some red ball but since we slapped him up last time and i think he's still embarrassed he runs away leaving admin courtney to deal with us and listen she's kind of a baddie she just has a camera up so we drown it no problem but she's definitely a baddie this event sets the game's main story in motion so now we have to follow team magma around because they stole a submarine but before we can actually go storm their lair mate ambushes us for a final time her team is actually solid now but sora is able to fry her swallow and whale lord joe drowns her blaziken and ty telepathically slaps the out of her bray loom my team is just too diverse and they've all got pretty strong move sets now so she doesn't really stand a chance at this point finally to end this story arc we infiltrate the team magma hair and i'll cut to the chase nothing interesting happens here but we do run into admin courtney again and i'm about 99 sure that she's flirting with me i can't get distracted though so i smash her and we move on with the team magma saga over for now i can access shoal cave where yoli can finally evolve into glacion this is mostly just a completionist move though because it's pretty unlikely a user but you know she's pretty the seventh gym battle is up next and i've talked about this before and i really mean this this fight is so bad it's the only double battle gym in the region and it has so much potential to be a fun battle with strong psychic types and cool mechanics but instead it's just these two floating rocks whatever i lead off with joe and izzy and since izzy is slightly faster than joe he sets up a rain dance and then joe wipes the field with the surf izzy would always live a critical hit surf here and the sun and moon stones will always drown here so anyway seventh badge acquired really interesting fight now as is the case with most pokemon games the story comes to a climax around the 7th gem and that starts with a giant green laser shooting out of the sky which is pretty rad we find the source of the green laser dive into an underwater cavern and surprise maxie is here being a giant nerd once again he's now attempting to wake up a lava dinosaur demon thing so we battle him in an attempt to stop him from doing that because you know he pinky promised me that if i body bagged him in a battle he wouldn't wake up the lava demon and would just instead go play in lava so we challenge him he leads off with a mighty anna that mimi is able to outpace and absolutely unalive with a moon blast forcing wheezing out so i switch into tai who takes a soft sludge bomb and then a psychic is enough to deflate the toxic balloons krobout comes out next so predicting tai will out speed i use future sight to plan for the mega camera in the back we outpace and see a future vision of our victory but take a really strong acrobatics and return a psychic on the next turn shoots the bat out of the sky bringing in maxi's camera i switch into joe as the camel powers up into volcano camel majin mode but it misses its takedown and then future sight goes off just barely missing the ko it doesn't really matter because joe out speeds on the next turn and soaks the lava camel with a surf and according to minecraft logic that instantly rids it of all its heat and life force and turns it into obsidian in short we murk him it turns out maxie is a dirty liar who had his fingers crossed during our pinky promise so he summons the groudon anyway in surprise it causes the planet to become so hot that all life will be eradicated he basically just expedited global warming so now i have to chase it down and i realize it's not much larger than a preteen child while we're riding it through lava and finally we end up in the actual core of the earth where things are uncomfortably warm and i have to beat it in battle psych we're just throwing a master ball this thing is terrifying and i led with joe thinking that i would just one shot it with surf but then i remembered its desolate land ability just as nope to water type attack so master ball it is now that we've saved the world and completely reversed climate change i first have to break maxi's pinky since he lied on a pinky promise but more importantly than any of that i can go get the final gym badge baby screw saving the world the only thing that matters is beating the pokemon league all gas no breaks let's go the final gym leader is wallace and this battle can actually be pretty tough sometimes but let's be real here i have a jolteon in a leafeon and all we really need is leafeon so i lock in rika a ham sandwich and a glass of water and then we just challenge him rika outspeeds wallace's entire team and even though i upgraded his celio to a wall reign leaf played one shot every single one of his pokemon leaving him ruined and me with the plate of fresh sushi which is great because kicking this much ass works up an appetite is this a real line i wrote in the script why do you all put up with this this is not okay okay and after that comedic genius time to go beat the game now that we have the eighth badge all that stands in our way of the elite four is wally his team is actually probably the most diverse in the game but he's still wally so here's a compilation of me wrecking his and time for the elite four i have eight pokemon to choose from meaning two are gonna get cut here and after looking at my options i'm pretty comfortable just leaving yoli and izzy behind the only pokemon i would consider a flex slot on my main team is espeon but espeon is my favorite eeveelution so even though izzy might make more sense here i just can't bring myself to take the best evolution off my team for the most overrated one and now that i've triggered all of the umbreon stands it's time to take on the league since my team has been popping off i decided to set the level cap before heading into the elite four at sydney's ace so level 52. this is way under steven's mega metagross at level 59 so i really hope this doesn't come back to bite me i ready up make my way to sydney's room and challenge him he has all dark types which makes him a pretty soft target for my team honestly i lead off with mimi into his mighty inna and a single moon blast is enough to just snuff it out sharpedo comes out next and even though it outpaces and lands a poison fang it's just not enough to matter here so another moon blast claims another kill shift tree is sent out in its place which gives me a perfect chance to set up a checkmate here with kari so i pivot into her taking minimal damage from a fake out and a flame charge on the next turn is enough for the kill and a speed boost absol is sent in but immediately outpaced and sent back to its ball with the flare blitz and cacturne is put down with another flame charge winning me the first elite four match phoebe is next and this is where umbreon probably would have made more sense but i'm not really stressed about it her pokemon are already ghosts so all we have to do is unalive them just a little bit more i lead off with sora and her dust clops and on turn one a charge beam connects for a solid amount of damage and raises sora's special attack which is ideal but the cyclops curses me meaning i'm on a timer now phoebe heals on the next turn but a plus one shadow ball is still enough for the ko bringing out her sable eye i stay in and go for volt switch but completely forget about fake out thankfully stabilize weak and the curse damage leaves us at 20 health i volt switch again on the next turn and i guess plus 1 volt switch is just enough here as her sableye drops to it i send out rika and phoebe responds with dusknoir which is pretty ideal here rika's great defense stat means she's not taking much even from super effective hits while she alternates between swords dance and synthesis to stay healthy and then a flurry of leaf blades is enough to unlive her dusknoir and two banettes two down and two to go i always dread the glacia fight and it's up next this one is almost always the hardest fight of the elite four for me which is super strange because ice types suck defensively but she has two frost lasses that get evasion boosts in the hail and her wall reign is just a tank so we'll see how this one goes i lead off with kari into her first kali and a flame charge on the first turn just barely misses the ko as we take a soft crunch with her glayly in the red she is forced to full restore it on the next turn so another flame charge and then a firefang melts the ugly ice cube glacia goes straight into her ace wall rain which is the worst case scenario here as i have to switch out and lose my speed boosts i bring in joe who gets in for free on a surf and i start using skald to try and fish for the burn but the wall range shows me that it's willing to go for sheer cold which is terrifying because it actually has a slight level advantage on my team meaning it can more realistically land this one hit ko move i stay in for a while trading skalds and body slams and protecting in the middle to try and bait out shear colds but the walrus just keeps slamming and eventually paralyzes joe so i set up a wish and pass it to sora who conveniently cannot get paralyzed and she heals to full before electrocuting the walrus with a volt switch i then send out kari who should be able to finish the job here and glacier responds with a frost lass i go for a flame charge to boost my speed and clean up the fight but this terrible pokemon goes for hale activating its snow cloak and of course we miss not great a shadow ball in the next turn drops us to under half and lowers our special defense again not great kari's flame charge manages to connect this time in kos but with our special defense lowered we're still in a rough spot the next frost loss comes out and i can't risk the miss here so i pivoted into joe to eat an ominous wind and then double into sora to stall out the hail turns sora goes for a shadow ball dropping the frost last to the red as it responds with a confused ray and on the next turn we break through confusion and volt switch it right back down to the red as glacier heals with the full restore i make kind of a bold play here and go into thai assuming we either out speed or always live an ominous win and he manages to out pace and pick off the ghost with a shadow ball leaving glacio with just ugly i decide to stay in with tai since this glaily doesn't have crunch and a few psychics just take it out alright a couple of close calls on that one but we made it out with the entire team intact so it's time for the final elite four member drake the final obstacle before facing the champion he has a team of terrifyingly powerful dragons but i'm not worried his team might be comprised of the most brutal creatures in the pokemon world but mine is comprised of some shiny fox cat things and one of them even has a bow we cannot lose this and i mean that mimi is broken in this fight she single handedly smoke strikes altaria in his first flygon without even getting touched bringing out his second flygon this lets me pivot into rika who just dodges a couple of supersonics to set up a sword stance and then slice right through drake's second flygon and kinger with some sharp leaves setting me up to switch mimi in on his salomons for the immunity to dragon rush and take it out on the next turn with a moon blast this was not a hard fight there were no pressure points here mimi was always gonna make this fight kind of a joke and i find it really ironic that the counter to the most ferocious type in pokemon is just this little ribbon cat who wears a bow but also i love that with all four of the elite four members beaten it's time for the champion battle steven's team is strong and we'll have to play pretty tight here but my goal is to win this run deathless so let's see if we can do it i challenge steven and lead off with sora into his skarm and on turn 1 i go for a vault switch taking the bird to its sturdy and bring out tai predicting a spike which we call correctly so with magic bounce we actually set up spikes on his side of the field knowing steven will full restore i set up a future sight then switch back into sora on a soft steel wing and do the same sequence all over again getting two layers of spikes up and just watch as the bird falls to my visions of victory i'm not gonna lie i felt like a galaxy brain for this sequence our model comes out next so i switch into joe and take a surprising amount of damage from x scissor i do the wish and protect scumming over the next two turns to heal a little bit and then drop the bug with a skull steven sends in credilie so i switch in akari on a predicted giga drain but this overgrown root just goes for a confuse ray instead not wanting to risk kari i switch into rika then double into thai predicting another confused ray which works perfectly and a couple of psychics just take it out as it hits itself in confusion agron comes out next and this thing hits super hard on the physical side so i switch into rika since she has the best physical defense on the team and she starts tanking iron tails and stone edges while setting up a sword stance and staying healthy with synthesis eventually we get in a position where she can just slice through the metal behemoth with her ultra sharp leaves and she also murks the follow-up clay doll in just one hit forcing steven out into his ace pokemon metagross this sentient supercomputer is a nightmare right now but an absolute terror once it mega evolves i'm now realizing that i probably should have set myself up better here and not just murked the clay doll at the first opportunity but instead used it to set up a winning scenario on sure it might have set up light screen or reflect but i could have 100 stalled through those and now i'm in a position where i have to pivot around and that's not a good spot to be in i switch into joe as metagross mega evolves and he takes a meteor mash which even resisted does almost half health i know i don't have a switch in here so i stay in and go for a scald in case something crazy happens and for some reason the metagross goes for a giga impact it lands taking out joe but with this play steven has just handed me the fight on a silver platter i send out kari and while the metal demon has to recharge she goes for a massive flare blitz which connects and just melts this hunk of metal winning me the battle and the run i unfortunately couldn't make it through the champion fight deathless but that was still a really solid performance for the shiny eeveelutions now i won't lie even upgrading all the gems in some of the early fights this run felt pretty smooth i think that's just a side effect of how specialized ichibi lucian is need something to take hits use umbreon gotta go fast and hit hard use jolteon or espeon it made for some pretty fun team building moments but i always felt in control still i had a blast doing this and i don't think every run needs to be the most challenging thing i've ever done i do think trying this run in the alola games and evolving the eevees as you have access to their evolution stones might actually be insane so if that's something you want to see let me know and also feel free to
