Turns out... itโ€™s a bit crap.

Looks like you Americans get to enjoy some 50hz pal goodness. Thatโ€™s one bright side I suppose.

For anybody interested the internal parts are

Mediatek 8167A A35 quad core arm, Powervr GE8300 gpu, 1gb ram, 16gb flash memory

Absolutely no spare space for extra games.

When the launch trailer came out and they announced the first few games I was like, ok those are definitely not games that would be on a lot of people's top 20 lists for ps1 maybe they will have the "console sellers" in the next announcement. Nope.

[Music] the PlayStation Brad Wow you got it I got a PlayStation POTUS I had console on the block I had to give the eb games 30 genesis games to get one wow that is that really what you did that's really what I did I mowed a lot of lawns to get a PlayStation yeah uh the PlayStation is great but I then later probably bought back most of those Genesis games also rears later Genesis also great yeah I bet I paid wave less than $300 for the Genesis games though you came out of hell yeah I probably probably got out of the Genesis at the right time you made an investment in yourself I did and I made in the PlayStation yeah this is the PlayStation Classic which has 20 games on it like the an intent like the the super intense classic like the NES classic Fisher did there's a PlayStation classic they sure did name it exactly like those things yeah they didn't make yeah they sure did and so I don't know we got this thing in I've not taken it out of the box so I figured we would take it out of the box no and then hook it up onyx place um emulated PlayStation games wait I mean they're not real nothing's real Brad or fake not a magical fake flannel PlayStation games alright so inside of the box here we get some cable lengths and stuff is that kind of pretty much original box art it is right it's yeah this is I think so basically the u.s. box they kind of recreated the the u.s. box there other than you know this doesn't USB AC adapter not included USB didn't exist back then yeah yeah oh yeah right there was a time when there was no such thing as a USB the SCP h1000 are okay see we got here alright as advertised there is some tiny some documentation there's my hand for reference and yeah there's a there's a iPhone 10's max for Al reference okay that's okay let's just keep going I guess and we've got this this is this is smaller than I thought it would be yeah those Nintendo things probably about this you know this percent reduction or somewhere there abouts I don't know that's very light you know makes sense we've got just USB and HDMI on the back USB for power it's open button how's the button feel accurate mmm no cuz they did you know this isn't hitting a latch that's lifting a lid it's just a you know pushing in to be a button more of a squish the reset button has a click to it that the original I don't think had like so and this doesn't click in and click out it's just a press USB ports on the front yeah those are just USB ports aren't they yep yeah wow yeah got your hands on a USB DualShock like it's there for you it's very light I can fly does this no no the gameshark report does not come off actually come off huh yeah cool ok and then in here we got an HDMI cable we've we've brought our own so we're not gonna use that one let me add it what about you okay hang on okay there's little latches here pop those do that's then take this bit out controllers we're in the guts here let you take one of these I'll take this one man were they really the small let me know I'm not questioning the authenticity right I had one in my bag because I just played through all of Tony Hawk 1 and mustard sounding off two with one of was the original one of these pretty recently this fuels off in some way oh the plastic is a different coating hmm you know whatever did close my probably but size-wise pretty enough for government work pretty much pretty much there in my mind it's bigger yeah unfortunately I brought that PlayStation home to play some games on it so I don't have it here probably goes for those things in your memory yeah yeah seems okay yeah the d-pad feels just as stiff and unforgiving as at the n95 just like how am I gonna do fireballs on it we made do we eventually got there yeah but out of the gate that I remember that being hard depending I'll depend on the game in fact that game is on this collection where it was hard battle arena toshinden oh right couldn't get things didn't get moves to come out I think that I reckoned I could do fireballs to the right but not to the left this stuff like that I think that was the one game I bought with my playstation yeah well yeah that was kind of you know it was like that Tekken 1 wasn't quite launched but it was close [Music] all right okay so this is I mean this is just straight USB I thought that this would be like a little more custom and with a not being custom that makes me have different thoughts about what you might be able to do with one of these mm down the line orders funner what happens if you plug these into a PC yeah we're gonna find out you know fine well you could find a USB adapter or something and and figured out all right we'll plug in our HDMI back here and then for power they've just included a USB micro USB cable for the back and then no power brick just a USB cable I like those Nintendo yeah yeah it's okay just a strange that everyone has those or they're gonna plug them into the USB ports and their TV or something I very Japanese to not include yeah I guess word like I heard that about like the 3d yes yeah yeah they did that for the through yeah so we've got USB ports on our power strip here I'm gonna plug that into that and this is uh probably gonna spit out 720p all right I believe that is the case so let's plug it in see what happens and oh god get in there okay it lit up the light is orange so I always Warren I don't know hopefully my green no mmm I just bought an Ethernet switch at home and it see it's green for a gigabit connection and orange for a non-gay break connection and I'm very confused by those colors so we hit power again you get anything Jan nope okay not getting nothing huh I hit it again the term green uh-huh hunted okay okay so makes the noise my god oh look how high-rez that is yeah that and it ah that seems short and it doesn't have why but I bet they saved the other part from your booting up the game you're probably right I think it's how it works right you came out of the liquid on memory card interface right in fact actually you should go to the memory card interface and see what it looks like okay yeah okay all right that's fairly like a screenshot of the memory card interface yeah what's that thing before right resume that okay okay so we got an array of games here when we just jump in okay let's play some ocean dinner yeah we should've won there it is yeah this one is Europe loading a European BIOS I guess then for some reason from what I read pre-release that's only for some games yeah others you're getting the American version that's weird it is weird all the signals had that screen yes SC o wonder why a traveling fighters brought together by a common destiny now meet at the Battle of a nation didn't seem as many years have passed since this tournament known only to those in the underworld was last held some fighters have come for personal glory yeah better vo than you would expect from the era yeah I'm not even a resident evil' had voice actors actors I would start to select everything no all right all right all right yeah week some heavies did I like that goes into foe cuz he had this clause yeah [Music] whoops oh yeah [Music] oof [Music] so shinden free it has some things going for it but - shouldn't one other specials there are right now yeah like I'm basically a you know Ryu like character fireball dragon I don't know what foe whoa there you go yeah okay that's that okay this looks sharper to you nothing about the part of like the eye when I throw the fireball and stuff like some of that stuff this looks maybe I can't sit it better than it should let's say I have loaded up this game sometime well this music is really something yeah [Music] come on Moo's well you're in there [Music] [Music] [Music] it's just so stiff yeah I mean that's that's accurate I mean I don't think this device is doing a bad job it's just not a good day yeah you know what do you know he's also historically they did what they could with what they had yeah yeah it's we made this takara yeah they put it out I'd you know if they were actual developers would run go [Music] this was the first PlayStation game I ever saw it was mind-blowing yeah totally now [Music] [Music] now she's got like she rings or come [Music] yeah Oh a special I may be sure that was [Music] look she's got like some kind of spin kick kind of thing and there we go [Music] they only the shadows I remember that this is pretty much this game right it's just this on an arcade mode yeah that's all games like a 1 player mode 2.0 there's not much to it but there's not even like a story in the single-player right there probably enemies but I guess I don't remember [Music] I feel like it's games pretty hard to go back to yeah this is what were you saying about three it because I read us and feels a little more responsive it's got an option in there we can toggle between like a textured 30 frames per second or like a flat shaded 60 okay and I kind of can't believe they put this on here when they could have put two of all number one I made the Rings happen ah I guess maybe COBOL was about the widespread hit that I would like to think no it was not and probably want like an English translated cobalt to hear that one had also I want to say we're [ __ ] those words ran log like dual analog only no and I only but like or they just wouldn't be that great adapter or Brailler don't remember like you would put in the sticks to shoot a fireball right was weird [Music] well this kind of thing is like it with this not having analog sticks like it's kind of limiting so the game daddy would include the favor come out and say what their reasoning was I bet it was just like hey we want to adhere to the launch me probably gets a lot more expensive to put analog sticks on it yeah all that other stuff all right well we let's hit open and see what it does okay huh don't you just when it stresses you so well playing games there's multiple discs start this is a beard men you'd even have alright I guess we have a resuming point for toshinden now my god we can come back to that he - all right cool borders - I want okay so do we have [Music] I wonder if so she hasn't even had saved games I don't know if there was anything to save I you can unlock characters now so I think you know a lot characters even in the first game Vermillion unlockable but I don't remember he was in the first one or not this screen I feel like was in all that piracy screen was in all the sig nosis games that came to the US but it was like in most first party European games hmm so it's weird to see it multiple times yeah it's just weird whose Transworld Snowboarding Transworld Snowboarding as a magazine oh I assume they must have gotten the Transworld license for this whoa it's video it's a full screen video this is a serene awesome postage-stamp ass Sega CD a nonsense video takes up the whole screen this web system to join you you what do you think I'm however you want snowboarding games I probably played three of them in my life yeah I've never been a huge snowboarding I just don't think most snowboarding games are very good yeah I know some of the SSX stuff obviously super talked or yeah people seem to like 1080 okay yeah I've done I like to amped 3 a lot well yes but the snowboarding and that was actually not bad okay like the amp 3 had a little more going on yes [Music] yeah this was all first party right no well web systems developed it but Sony published it the u.s. yeah I've never got much of a sense of whether cool borders was very popular or not I eyed people doubt I think there are definitely people that finally remember that borders franchise but I couldn't tell you f2 is the right game to include or or if one would have been a better historical choice or a lot jinns got max speed maxed but yeah ghee is better on balance yeah he's only whoa check out my pointy go team pants arrow pointing down I'm 90s and this stuff yeah it's real cheesy looking visual treatments for some of the stuff but a bit of some cases that are limited the games they can choose for this because of licensing and music and all the other stuff yeah I mean when they announce the full list I feel like it that was the entire response was where is XY and Z right yeah and that this is always gonna be the case is everyone gonna have their own games they remember well yeah there's like there are just like you know here's a thing devoted to like remembering the PlayStation one that doesn't have a Gran Turismo game right uncool [Music] yeah my list for this thing would look about 90 percent different yeah this but you know what can you do I would put a nine hander on my playstation sure for instance I think it's a silly that this wouldn't have a crash bandicoot game yeah I mean you did the business case there is extremely obvious why they didn't do that considering Activision was aa actively selling Crash Bandicoot products right but you're not wrong yeah especially cuz we just found out that Crash Bandicoot is the highest reversing PlayStation game of all time yeah yeah man this is steering just have two analog stick now some of those polygons get pretty swimmy up close yeah see some of those scenes there's a worth looking at food the license is on this thing I mean we already know that it uses pcs X Y a yeah for the emulation yeah but something is pretty accurate right yeah it's a pretty good I tried to hit buttons on feel like over the years of demo derby and every time a snowboarding here comes out I feel like it always goes exactly like this for me I'm just like this doesn't feel good at all [Music] what's the trick like crash into the [ __ ] wall how am I even supposed to know first person I tried to hit said like down an are wanted to be equipped and I try to hit back [Music] that reminds me that I would put bust a move on this thing oh yeah I mean the Japanese bust a move oh you must agree bust a groove if you like but you put bust movie uncensored yes that's how old it's the version I have yeah what was censored about it one of the songs said worry whoa okay I got uncool but I got 51 points I just played atomic playboy over and over yeah I know the the song about hamburgers was a little something in it this time something surprising in there all right well that was a world record best attempt that ever flying cool wars - that has ever happens so you're welcome to everyone out there giving this games dude what are you hitting reset I'm hitting reset and you'll end this menu and then open gives you that disc menu it alright how about I play some Destruction Derby and then then I'll hand you this thing in a while oh sure thanks I didn't that I don't actually know what game is next okay I just really why I was gonna hand it to you and then I realized I really want to play instruction no no I've I've I don't think I've ever actually played this game so you definitely should hi I rented it one time this was this was a launch game was me if not right at lost the very close very early I'm going to pull up a list of launch games this was a cool effing game at the time Ubisoft reflections makers of the drivers yeah also not on this collection watchdogs well I didn't driver debuted on the PlayStation right right and I guess was a big deal people likes driver all right it's a place of destruction derivative here yeah okay yeah oh wow it like what still has the link cable stuff anyhow there's no way to actually what happens if I hit X here huh it locks up okay that's funny yeah this was a link cable game which was pretty cool looks like this game did not make a watch but it must have been pretty early right yeah it was definitely first year or something we've been around the first year so yeah the kosis yep don't remember a bunch of little triangles flying all over the place when the cars crash yeah okay maybe I have played this yeah they made a handful of sequels to it yeah I feel like this is like slightly sharper another that's our like a bad thing but now you know we would have yep look at that they're already flying you know we would've been playing these games on a CRT back then yeah the part of it probably again you probably have played these games on LCDs in the recent past yeah [Music] I assume his CSX pretty much of the go-to on PC is there anything better I feel like the guess 1 emulator stuff got a little muddy because a lot of stuff got poured it all over the place land Fork yeah what is the PlayStation 1 emulator that's been doing weird enhancement like giving games depth of field that's uh fixing fixing the vertex problem stuff like that's a fork of a that's a fork that runs in libreta row retroarch it is doing all most of that stuff but man it used to be like a ePSXe that was a big one for a while there's a no cash PSX which is you know it doesn't really do a lot of the enhancement stuff but you know it's always folks on them that guys always focuses work on on accuracy and and like debugging tools which is kind of cool [Music] and then there's a Playstation emulator in Medan ofin which is a multi-platform emulator that is the one that I think up for brought into Lib retro where it's called Beatle but I'm not sure if that is original work in mid defender of that support of something or if that's maybe only a port of this or something like that I don't actually know it's the sand words so you know you're handling and steering a stuff gets worse over time I think the part of this game that kind of lost me a little bit was that it was so focused on racing yeah I was about to say doesn't doesn't have an arena mode like just a big old yeah classical demolition derby watch cars in a giant pretty sure is nothing into each other that's what I remember seeing on the demo kiosk at the blockbuster yeah instead of this 12 lap race here and then also like the scoring was based a lot on how much he made the other car spin which was not really in line with a lot of like real-life destruction derby scoring you raise some cool as me where's parappa yeah why isn't brian on it I mean they they've recently reissued parappa Azam perhaps on ps4 yes yeah yes instruction Derby is their run do is there a single rhythm game on this whole thing no this isn't this this is kind of the platform where rhythm games were birthed yeah but a lot of you know you're gonna get parappa or like a handful of other controller ones or you're gonna have to suddenly require a dance mat or a guitar or something like that yeah workout Prabhat kind of the first a big one it was it's definitely the first rhythm game I remember singing yeah maybe the first big one maybe there was stuff before that no they think Konami was doing this stuff at the time but it wasn't that none of that it really happened in the US [Music] yeah I don't know I mean as a like really comprehensive cross-section of what made the police station matter this thing is kind of lacking yeah yeah I I agree it's I was like yeah I just keep thinking of games lemme but you know obviously it's got Final Fantasy 7 and no you're solid right second three mister driller well you know like Destruction Derby is a game I would call like a big early a PlayStation games but it's not really one that you talk about anymore I think this this rates yeah like I saw enough of this game a list of 20 yeah this is definitely like a valid choice for sure like I don't even have an attachment to this game but I saw enough of it around that kinda thing was knew that this yeah and then you get into weird stuff where like maybe the first Ridge Racer is the most historically relevant but they ended up going with type 4 yeah which I should probably a better game it's a is significantly better game that's probably the that's mate well that's maybe the best Ridge Racer but he hadn't like not the one I would have seen at the blockbuster and right and went like holy [ __ ] look at that thing and also that game was cool because you know there was a custom controller that you used to play it released in Japan the jog Kong I always had a little you know a little wheel with a little bit of force-feed oh man my car pulling to the right real hard whoa he's got it in for you yeah Oh I'll tell you the one thing I really wish this thing had was that original demo disc they played in stores before this thing came out store yeah the dinosaur and polygon man yeah foreign source Rex it seems like Simon just be like an easter egg like yeah I hit a button there's who wouldn't get something like I'm not I'm not gonna buy one of these but it would make me very happy to find out that that is buried in here somewhere that would be cool because like I'd like no lie of the night that I walk into a Circuit City and saw that [ __ ] t-rex demo playing on a demo kiosk and like months before the Playstations right yeah was like a life-changing moment like the second I saw that thing running I was it was just a tech demo right yeah it was just like check out this dinosaur with me the second I saw that thing I was like well getting one of those as soon as humanly possible [Music] Oh hours to messed up my car's dead I'll need to hit it more fairly off and killed the car most of these poppers appear to be dead whoa with that crowd yeah okay let's just move on okay that's Destruction Derby here all righty next okay here we go I wonder what this game would do if we tried to change discs because this game is at least at least aware of us after we'd like I want to hit that almost a medium that was when we're done with it we should hit that and see cuz like if the thing is hard enough to know when it needs to be changed then why does it just automatically do it right well again I think they do I hit the button lock it up no weird well what the way you would instructed to do so well I think was that again I think they're trying to give you the experience of having to manually change news fun I guess it saves them from having to like create a bunch of new menus and stuff that man look at that logo it's been a long time back when it meant something [Music] okay final fantasy came to the playstation yeah Honda thought what a man so I get the earth-shattering announcement betrayal - top 10 final fantasy betrayals I remember as people got super mad about that or not I'm sure somebody did people who only owned in an n64 Oh weird some red wagons was like that doesn't wasn't this menu always kind of maybe I think it was trying to yeah sure I don't know how much of this is the right amount to play there just a little bit of the intro yeah I'll probably just get into like the first couple of battles or something we didn't does get you into action fairly quickly this thing was pretty mind-blowing when it came out I will not lie another bad snowboarding game yeah yes I've played through this game exactly once in 1997 now what kept you from going back to it mostly that I just don't really replay yeah there's always something new to play but it wasn't like oh my experience well it was so perfect I would hate to have it ruined or no none that kind not that type of reverence no I think six is the only one I've ever replayed at all yeah that tells you anything hey I don't know if you know this but she what well you know I won't almost totally home spoilers or I think gotta play [Music] pretty serious hype around this game you can say at the time given any of the years follow it well yeah but that's of a different nature yeah do you think it deserves it the only guy should withhold judgment have a bunch of people yelling at me so know that this is [Music] in the bottom half of my top ten final fantasies for me yeah well you know mr. Quest was really good yeah [Music] because a big deal when it came out for the tech right [Music] we're seriously [Music] yeah I think it was that it was the historic significance of the holes not on and and Oh class alarm Russell the business factors you know it was a just a very big budget yeah take on these types of role-playing games that you hadn't really seen that much of yeah my first III was the year this came out so I remember her like giant video screens everywhere of this game at that e3 but they were pushing the [ __ ] ends I mean obviously they spend right right and a fortune hunter that looked weird that's world me thing no I keep getting axed to confirm everything I was like this in metal gear reduce and we're just like no forget it yes it was it was it not still wasn't standardized back then it was but there were exceptions okay yeah this is circle I mean I thought this was cool as [ __ ] when it came out like a 3d battle stuff like a summons and everything like right I was super into this game at the time I was playing it just my memories of it have aged especially well I assume this is the legendarily bad translation it would have to be right I mean these are just the game is right right yeah actually I don't know if this ever got read translated yeah probably did right there for one of those releases on like ps4 or steamer so probably they probably did something to it I think that Sony handle the localization for this or they helped or something i funny yeah i don't remember what the story was where the hell was ted Woolsey [Music] the total earmark ex man look at that it's like you're playing the game and then it just zooms right in there now it's a movie yeah that's pretty wild I guess actually at the time it was completely mind bored I only do like one more battle maybe you'll get to find just some of the background elements and you know the like that warning sign and stuff like that like it's got a weird hybrid look yeah yeah the art style was weird because they had been well six was work out a Victorian steampunk than anything yeah but prior to that it was very its series was very like just kind of a traditional fantasy driven mm-hmm so yeah this is this weird mix of like magic and kind of retro aesthetic but but future tech was really strange like yeah this thing is a weird mishmash of art styles Melora effects right yeah congratulations thanks soldier yeah [Music] yo is this your first time in a reactor no after all I did work for shin rail you know all right it goes on like this for about 30 hours okay oh man where's my party actually let's mess around what really matters okay that's right there's not the whole window we're doing like weird stuff with this gradient pattern it's all very futuristic because of this to me hey 5007 an okay game yeah you could play that yep on this alright alright to move on sure yes we've got this restore point if you ever want to get back so I'll make sure to get back to that whatever you should play this sure just cuz I don't know that I have never played it it's weird in retrospect GTA 3 was weird when it first came out now based on what this and GTA 2 were this is practically an arcade game mm-hmm you know it's like score and you're kind of doing missions to complete your completing objectives - right yeah this is the European version yeah it was yeah they put that out or put this out over here so this was before there was a rockstar visual saga this was DMA design why node rockstar north used to be DMA design yeah so this is yes there's LD ma but like even at the take 2 level like the rock star name didn't even exist yet right huh or maybe this was where it first existed but it was still hmm maybe in the US it was no this game was published by a ASC games over here I think I close I mean the Hauser's were involved from day one right [Music] yes there's an easy way to find out yeah this it's just a it's a very strange game okay there you go it's sure all right let's move on play a little bit of this yeah this was a cool game it you know the the top-down you know it's just like this cutesy kind of top-down thing man it was just it got brutal so fast it's also an intensely difficult game okay enter exit attack fire or backwards break weapons special it's really weird to sit here and look at this and think that they'd only made five of these so Travis like put this on five right next to each other yeah Liberty City okay there we go gangster bang let's go for a joyride but yeah it's kind of it's a game that operates on a timer and you know if I remember right that's right you use this the same controls to drive that used to walk like there's a forward back like gas of brake basically for walking come so like it's tank controls almost there's the concept of carjacking in this yes because that I think look bad we need to yellow caps for a bank job bring from the docks in new Guernsey so we need to find a cab like can you just get in and drive any vehicle in this game yep like that okay cuz I feel like that more than anything when gta3 came out was like the big thing oops wrong button something on top of it being over the world in general right yeah I don't like the idea that you could literally just take and drive any vehicle you saw it was just like it was a level of freedom that you didn't expect from most games yeah back then [Music] see if this goes away look out because I you know what we're [ __ ] up this tax is pretty bad here - oh damn it yeah this kind of really is just those games but in overhead perspective right a little bit like people wandering around you've got a big city you can drive around you can take and drive any car yeah it's just you know it's way less story focus like there's police response you get stars like you know like all that stuff is out oh there's also like weird power-ups and stuff also okay is that the spa yes okay now we need another cab there's that subtle American satire everyone loves that's where I'm going now where the cab is the arrows not going to help me here let's just take this car that one Oh you I assume two is just kind of more this two is like a futuristic game Oh what with like it had factions and so you would do missions for the different factions and that would kind of turn things for or against you know like certain factions will be hostile towards you based on what you did that sort of stuff a future that's when we're talking to me of a crash no vaguely near futuristic like it wasn't cheap items like laser guns or something around and didn't they make an offshoot like wondering something yeah GTA London 1969 was an expansion pack for GTA 1 okay wait expansion pack on the yeah I mean also this was a PC game right okay but but yeah they did do that expansion for ps1 and they made it work like you had to swap disks and here's weird huh that came out after the fact yeah that's bizarre and I mean this is back when DNA was still making games for other people at the same time right yeah we could lay it out and in 64 games my brother knows I'm banging his wife waste the son of a [ __ ] before he finds me sheesh and it's cold they made a little short film to go along with this game Oh [Music] hope some subsidies we wanted hit square to go backwards but it is time okay she got there we go [Music] that's gonna assist us in our wasting just die escapades [Music] so I guess maybe it doesn't operate on a time I knew this just blocks lives [Music] oh let's see I did it again oh that's a blockade it's a shortcut nice walk in here and shoot this guy I am getting shot now I've had brothers now we have really nice tars freak off heads I guess Oh oh here we go yeah you're just getting like nonsense pager messages all the time it's a strange [ __ ] game also I don't know if the heat and the cops ever goes away on its own or if I need to find like a paint job I think those existed pistol Oh what's up top car [Music] so yeah you know you kind of see it I guess I was hoping we find the row of it look like Harry Krishna's when you run them over it just doesn't go wrong on the stream not far is some to handle the best of all the cars most of it barley is oh there there it's not like a bonus or something [Music] ideally you just kind of hit them all on when you go because they all walk in a row well cool boy okay [Music] discuss workaholic she's a little tough to go back to yeah yeah I mean it was a little tough when it was new it was definitely like an acquired taste oh so I think this is a bomb truck so you know it's just kind of go through missions off these pay phones and I think you just you kind of eventually get enough points to move on to the next level and it's got Liberty City and I think it's Liberty city by City and San Andreas calling this game yeah Oh weird and yeah let's move on okay would you run our lives it's like game over look it's it's not like a story-driven thing per se it's just kind of you just kind of do your thing I remember intelligent cube being hard hmm who made this art ink and I don't know uh we'll know soon enough Masika Cesaro made of course [Music] get it is for smart people oh and that's why I was so bad at it it does sequel to this for PlayStation 2 and maybe didn't try the US that had some style to it yeah okay and we can look at the rules but that was just time yeah let's dive into got a lot of games together whoa so yeah these blocks kind of come falling at you free rate oh I got 30 last it's not exactly a lot going on on the screen but it's still nice to see a nice smooth frame rate yeah and reflections and everything [Music] so this was it yeah you said a okay we've fallen and lost [Music] so what is it you see a you highlight a block and then hit it again to trigger it and I think you want to trigger you want to make sure you catch all of the glowing blocks I think [Music] okay if you serve [Music] can you bark too right next to each other I can only mark one space without any control over how fast a different answers I can I can trigger an advance [Music] a triangle and everything disappeared so maybe that's like a what is it maybe you highlight a bunch of them that build a combo of blocks and then I'll mail emanate them all at once those away Oh [Music] Oh [Music] quite a fanfare they have going on yeah as you play oh no no see I think when you fall all the way off you lose so the the edge of the platform will fall off leaving you less room to maneuver as you as you [ __ ] up okay you wanna give this mission yeah watch play a little jumping fly yeah maybe I'll take the next two and yeah sure I remember liking this game quite a bit I don't know if that means it's good or not yeah that's yeah it may very well be bad you know there weren't a lot of games like it when it came out yes I guess there aren't there's still yes I don't know how I would describe this game I mean it's the first person but I guess it's a first-person platformer is the best way to yeah it's a strange thing you're a robotic rabbit mm-hmm it's kind of surreal of Robin I believe yes exact ultra not Saren Aloha Aloha evil plan is to turn it into a huge private retreat for himself Universal City Hall the people no [ __ ] is this jump and go oh man we was secretly this call to rob it mon Dieu ha they made a second one yeah what they come out here no okay I don't think and I don't want to see that oh yeah also he was kind of like well no I guess not I was just saying it's almost kind of isometric like you sort of tap forward and it moves a little Morgan but the movement is weird yeah is what I'm getting out you're a rabbit tank you can shoot yes let's cut yes that's kind of how it feel you need to get those pods away these things yeah these giant carrots yeah Jeff fobb yeah [Music] it's filled with my joke and he pulled button down you jump higher you jump in the air so there's like a look down jump I thought hey that's it whoa well land on that guy yeah sorry mr. frog we're all wearing a top hat yeah [Music] Oh rocket [ __ ] it's like they look down at the ground on the second jump is smart because it gives you like that we're like intelligent maneuver yeah I mean you can literally use the reticle to line up what you're gonna land [Music] ah okay yeah so there is a stationary and they look up and down hey one way up there is another one who's close to ground level I lose my Rockets I'm not using them festival [Music] [Music] oh well I was bothering ya hold over there on there [Music] [Music] oh love it you hit it again like a third time yeah oh you totally can't they're new you just go from here [Music] oh boy oh here we go time to get the Chaos Emerald you got a power cut our bill oh [ __ ] points [Music] as we're just kind of not really Manuel anything as such yeah just want to point at things as you move kind of works 22 seconds [Music] if you pop all the balloons probably like all right I did a perfect job all right so so right there all right get this other chat pod as the other jet pod clip out of existence yeah I think it's over in this direction somewhere thanks on your left [Music] Oh [Music] the exit I think is down below - yeah it's all better [Music] I did it you did it I'm the robit yeah that's cool yeah okay that's baby this is a weird curiosity and yeah that was maybe actually better than I expect I feel like if you took this game and just could give it a better frame rate and draw distance it would be kind of neat kind of neat it plays okay yeah yeah I mean you really want to go that route I mean there are only ways to do that you might be a little I don't know the draw distance might be a hard one I don't were part of this it's fun watching the framerate get better as you look at the ground yeah all right okay shall we move on we land in the lava look at that smoke god I don't know say Robert for Bob Israel save a restore point of Robert dying oh boy that's cursed restore point okay which version really gonna get this this did have multiple discs given - yeah I totally forgot about that all that speech and everything man it's two discs wasn't yeah I think that's right all right American release this is a game that I feel like you benefited from things like you know you having a memory card yes vibration yes than the analog did it have analog control I think I don't know I don't know but it had it had vibrations yes there was a part where it wanted you hold it up to your arm right yeah don't forget 1257 like this is the game that mattered wait a minute what what does it do when you need to look at the back of the box that's a good question what's the screenshot on the back of the the box this box one for 0.15 that's totally it that's amazing I think that might be right I think that may be right so on the back of the PlayStation classic box they put the thing that yeah that's that's pretty funny if that was intentional than well played whoever did that the nuclear weapons disposal facility and the shadow so who landed in Alaska's Fox archipelago was attacked and captured I played through a start to finish in Japanese first understanding a word of it yeah this game is weird because it was also my first exposure to somebody pirating a PlayStation game Wow look at the back of the box think it was like it was like literally the weekend I got to college in the dorm and some dude I had just met had a CDR oh it was like I also our first exposure to broadband internet oh right yeah so this dude literally effed a go hand-in-hand don't they it was like right after this game had come out in Japan he ft peed a bunch of our files this came and burned him and played it it was very bizarre experience but yeah that was in Japanese too then I bought it when it came out here that was a fun thing for message boards for a while as having people on message boards complaining about I don't know what to do here keep saying I need to look at the back but what do I do maybe look at the boxes you bought oh yeah I wants to look at the back of your box what do you mean what should tell me what it is it's like now want you look at the back of your box no just tell me what it is - swim for whatever reason I always thought the fact they did all these cutscenes real-time was so much cooler than like the Final Fantasy 7 treatment yes the game yeah right this is the actual game and they're making it look like a movie psycho madness just like that's why that's why it was a big deal like any you know any video file could look like whatever you want sure right at the fact that they were taking the thing you were playing and playing with camera angles like that's why I just felt like it was pushing things forward too much I just you know I mean whatever like the game the quality of the game right yeah how much you actually enjoyed the game is a separate conversation and that would be and that was always the thing for me was like the gameplay was very basic and it was you know surrounded by all of this stuff you know it was a lot of liked I'm not playing the game you talk and stuff is just so ambitious though yeah like look what they're doing with this rudimentary ass shitty looking 3d graphics don't expect any official support Rick crisp audio as well we've been really squeezing a lot of blood out of the story yeah we're about was it European extreme was that the secret hardest difficulty siding I think that's right did you play Twin Snakes yeah I reviewed that for GameSpot I thought it was fine well some of the stuff was and some of the some of the action sequences are a wall over the top he just kind of didn't need it yeah it got a little more anime than I wanted right but then again that's Metal Gear right yeah it turned out that Metal Gear was anime the whole time this game just hit it a lot better yeah [Music] No I'm going to swap down a couple of bothersome flowers like I always liked the balance this game struck of like earnest kind of military intrigue with just a little bit of weird stuff around the edges right yeah looks like a manรญs and like Vulcan Raven there's supernatural stuff there but it takes itself very seriously well I guess every Metal Gear takes itself seriously but right but that's why it works I mean you know well you got it guys stuff seriously but also is goofy like I feel yeah it walks the line there got it got so much more outlandish after this I guess you're right this is snake Colonel can you hear me loud and clear obviously in retrospect in jest who has revealed itself to be disturbingly or we're looking sharp but that was not apparent at the time by codec the frequency is 1 for 0.85 when you want to use the codec push the select button when we need to contact you the codec beep sorry bone conduction when they run around and play with camera nope [Music] you've got a crouch yeah that like [ __ ] putting the credits over top of the playable intro Oh does it not oh you have to get really close yeah like all this [ __ ] was just mind-blowing oh my god I don't know if I'm gonna get this guy you're getting shot I going to go well at all bit a while yeah there you go well they both out here that's so Toyota don't know see me there's a spot where you crouch and get under yeah forget where that is look at the reflections in the water yeah like they were doing a lot with this thing I gotta I got a snap a knack don't remember what the button is isn't just square I'm a square you have to do it it just died I would just like it in your neck snap I guess the cool game over spins yes the best [Music] I think you go right under here yeah even stuff like this you know it's just they're doing so much more with this then this hardware should get away with right this does not look amazing you know but but they didn't let that stop them ah the puddle yeah like enemy awareness you know like enemies being aware of things like stepping in a poll today go that might I might click that puddle again no [ __ ] [ __ ] [Music] let's let's go yeah I know oh [ __ ] do I have to wiggle it wait out very much right here yeah now you should be able to take it no it's not weird there's a button you have to yeah no I have to wait for it to come back I should have look at the controls before we started this I don't think there's like a press button maybe another thing in this game it's maybe just the wait for to come back down yeah it comes back down there more cards on it that's right [ __ ] yeah that is grab and snap right yeah neck's alright this one more time [Music] and run down the middle before he turns [ __ ] huh this is not good way to go tapi - right [Music] and the weird ways that this game is like similar to like the original Metal Gear yeah in some of its controls and just like it like weird little things like that that's like surprising weird little holdovers [ __ ] the other guys see me god damn it and I thank you play so snap it back and he yelled well it's whatever [ __ ] [Music] do you have to add something my super don't remember yeah that texture yeah things just to be out of evasion long enough for it to happen or something it's been a while yeah I don't know if I ever play through this more than once I played through Japanese played through English and then I don't think I I messed with it here and there like oh it came out on PC your let's look at that or but yeah I reviewed it to kind of just moved on it wasn't I did not love this game as much as a lot of other people did that's for sure I mean I obviously recognize its simplicity shortcomings as a game sure but it was more just like what it implied for the future yeah okay [ __ ] they are able to do this now I imagine where they're gonna go with this stuff yeah I think just a lot of my issues were just like hey I'd like to play a video game and the cutscenes were so long and there's just a lot of cases of like do one short easy sequence to string together to another cutscene it was just pacing stuff really yeah yeah I mean I just I just love the way it looks and sounds and I was very wrapped up in the story you know like you have a game there's not that much to the game well the movie camera angle stuff yeah the distracting guys are leading them around alright like stealth games were not really a thing at this point right like this was kind of it was about tension who came out before this right yeah I want to say he was a PlayStation 1 game I want to say tissue the first tension came out a few months before this I think it had some of the lot of similar concepts I think there's a lot more movement you know you get the rooftops and stuff like yeah like her just a lot more and she was more game than this yeah if I remember but the story stuff and this is what made me care about it [Music] like good voice acting was kind of a big deal of riot yeah because almost nothing had good voice acting back then [Music] you know people paying attention to editing like a camera cuts on sprite like this stuff was just it's snake almost unheard of at the time anyway especially when you think about where this came from yeah what the original Metal Gear was right and all that you ready yes there was just an attempt at making it cinematic that you just didn't see that much yeah [Music] look at--look lopsided or am I crazy well off to the right yeah well no that can't be right it's almost like the s and the P don't line up like they're supposed to I'm I think I'm I think sometimes we're using my mind yeah sometimes when you run that by us at higher resolutions it looks a little long and I don't know if that's the case here or not but towns being overrun by color blocks you want to yeah let's just get into mr. driller everybody's in a panic Dig Dug sonically we've got a massive colored block spill on the 405 this morning there was this original for PlayStation this was in arcades okay [Music] so yeah you dig you don't want to get crushed the colors and stuff will line up and save you in cases like that [Music] and you occasionally need to get some air Oh God oh that's all right never sir Proctor looks like lost that's that's kind of a sister girl er it's a handful of different modes this music sounds very shrill in a way that was very strange some light settings for Arcade Mode you could drill through these blocks but it would cost you a significant amount of air to do so so you can really only do it when things were going real bad [Music] and I've never been great at it I just drill like crazy and don't stop for nothing and sometimes that doesn't really go too well [Music] it's a lot to keep in your head and once ya want to pay attention to ah without a lot of reaction time OOP is there any kind of fall damage No [Music] feel like I always got mr. driller mixed up with mr. do mr. Doo is a fantastic clown who also drills correct I know he's got a ball I mean he digs through the dirt okay not the table dug like fashion but with a drill he's got a magic ball that he shoots it enemies [Music] screw that up alright special driller yeah that's a that's a weird inclusion little game to include I guess I don't know okay I think I always think about mr. driller is a Dreamcast game but you play Abe's Oddysee I think I've rented it one time yeah I don't wade into renting games back then yeah cuz I felt like most games were worth about a weekend and that was it yeah I mean I didn't have the money to buy a lot of them like five bucks for two to three days of a game was plenty for me I know actually I think I played this on like a PlayStation underground dish I think that's how I was exposed to the same yeah I mean this is uh skin was pretty big right yeah yeah I remember this making kind of a lot of waves yeah it was like it was kind of in that realm of like flashback and Persia yeah like a puzzle platformer yeah and so you have to you know you have to learn this game same thing cuz you have to wait to talk to that's right you know that the nearby the other dawkins to get them to follow you and you have to basically like go around this Factory saving your you're kinda cocky I still have a I still have a soul storm brew bottle opener in my house somewhere from my first III I think that was from the first one attitude yeah there's a lot of it to go around a kid I never finished this game I never was and the game speak thing was like added a versatility to it in terms of just like is reputa how you did stuff but I just sounded a little cumbersome processing plant odd world I used to work here cell or landing my understanding is getting all the voices in this camera yeah so that's what I thought for a very long time he did all the voice acting right probably up until like strangers graph I don't think well there was munches Odyssey that Xbox there's AIDS Odyssey of abe's exoddus yeah head munch them strangers and strangers around and that was hid right yeah I mean they put out the did you play the like they're kind of remake of this right I died a little bit it was nothing cold I crush the meanest bus and the water just Abe's all see remastered nerve of my whole life love to your name subtly good was a wolf checking out I don't know is that a is that a like shift between new and old graphics kind of affair no I don't think it's just a just a remake yeah it was like new and improved addition to the right yes something like that we used to make meat no cheese until the meters were through yes is this kind of you know like class uprising story of you freeing your kind from this Factory and where they're being turned into food hi hi / consumerist society ham let's move on I feel like I remember we would tasty that's what it was yeah that's right [Music] I feel like I remember this getting a lot of hype in the sense that like odd world inhabitants was gonna be a very important developer and they came out big with a lot of talk about like oh this is gonna be like a five-game series Rison we got all these ideas you know it was very much like I don't even know if they I guess they don't really still exist as a studio right yeah how they could cuz they're people in this good much a hell yeah I went there for strangers wrath yeah they'll did say luis obispo oops [Music] Oh Stan I was just about to ask if the other workers are disposable in this game well you're supposed to be saving them although I'm not letting they get killed by dudes with machine guns like this guy hmm no a rather disagreeable fellow yeah Oh [Music] just hitting the talk buttons here to see what yeah right so this you can see you know it's I'll play some Rayman I'll pass it over to you all right Rayman one the original this also out on Saturn baby that seems likely so this was the only this yeah this would've been the only Rayman right and then to was turning on Dreamcast yeah if they did not do a second one on this platform to is like a Dreamcast lead on skating right I think 43 I know eventually Rayman 2 ended up in a lot of different places but didn't it will Ubisoft known for at this point like anything like this for six yeah know that yeah I guess broken realistic without my stuff you know sure [Music] all right let's play some right man password password I guess I guess if we cared enough I could Google one but jump fist action all you need yep okay [Music] and this kind of moves yeah this looks pretty good oh you're dead I'm dead that's the action button does that's that's pretty good action I had to take one I I can crawl with the shoulder buttons too this game is a real like Amiga game look to it yeah sure whatever you're loaded amigo that kind of know what you're talking about like a lard SS look kind of like cut out and the background or something the fists buttons do anything not until you need it yeah [Music] okay yeah mate its humble beginnings some guy is very excited that you made it to the unavoidable yeah this this doesn't weigh terrible it's funny how much well I guess it's obvious why 2d games would hold up so much better on this culture well yeah hey nope I'm playing a platformer without instructions always must ask that question I jump on dudes or what butch but if it doesn't hug no punching or those kind of rebooted recent platformers they do there's like rayman origins rayman legend they just made two of those right i think my family didn't - they were those were well-received yeah those things looked amazing also I feel like the second one has been ported to a bazillion different places man ok now I can punch with my fist okay there we go very handy to have a fists not attached yeah you get a lot of done to an arm [Music] do you think the wrists end of his hand looks like like where there should be an orb [Music] alright this Raymond yep it's a platformer yeah man look at that face the guy has seen some [ __ ] oh yeah Wow I don't feel like I remember there being a director's cut of this on PlayStation but of course it was wasn't this the Dual Shock edition maybe so yeah and maybe it rolled some stuff in from other territories or something I don't know I think because they issued it twice so they were there was I think I want to say it was called Dual Shock edition in some territories I was a good Capcom or go yeah this or that it's probably still my favorite one oh yeah all right copters F&B in this router rules what employee of Kapton us do you think that well this is what the accountant huh okay oh okay this this well I don't want to do advanced probably if that's like a different control scheme or something hmm job right yeah straight up photos of the characters I never once had any interest in this game even what was new really just amazing just could not stand it I mean it you know it plays like a nightmare right yeah it's like going back to it I mean it plays like a loan in the dark right yes where we're searching for the helicopter of our compatriots Bravo Team we disappeared like even at the time there was a lot to handle it was not great yeah I think that was just enough for me just like yeah like in between that and not really caring for stuff like it's just that's that's what it was for me like it was such an effective horror game you know dogs jumping through the windows and yeah other kind of like cliched famous moments like that victims were apparently eaten Bravo Team went to the hideout of the group and disappeared I mean this is the franchise that gave us Ricky cough Leon s Kennedy yeah so not all bad it's the franchise that gave us the Jill sandwich yeah no master a little locking mm-hmm cetera et cetera Barry where's Barry although team's helicopter nobody was in it God but strangely most of the equipment was still there man yeah look about [ __ ] or that [ __ ] guy discovered why imagine if this had been the aesthetic that this franchise had all along and I've never gotten away from this it would be really good I think this is the only one that has a video right I think you're right and it isn't just at the beginning of the game Oh think there's any video throughout I think that's the case yeah it's very that's very like Sam Raimi that low to the ground like super fast half handheld camera stuff it's Barry of the era [Applause] [Music] [Music] boy this just looks like a fell off a Sega CD man this is so corny like he's kind of amazing death I mean I was the charmer with this game like what with the moment the gameplay it was pretty you know effective horror but anytime anybody was talking or this was happening it's just cheesiest [ __ ] it was a good mix yeah that guy's hair Jill Valentine very I have extremely going to go home and look up all the names of the actors this thing and see what else they did I [Music] just yeah I really want to know if any of these people had careers outside of this Resident Evil more do you need to know you think it's safe what is this wow what a mansion captain Wesker where's Chris stop it don't open that door but Chris's what is it maybe it's Chris now Jill can you go I'm going with you Chris is our old partner you know okay let me handle this this is really bad stay alert yeah this is worse than I remember like the Metal Gear Solid voice actor yeah heads up as well yes this is yeah coming off of something like this a dining room do you ever play that remake for you know the Gamecube and then it came out again I fiddled with it probably a little bit they I had not surely they rerecorded that stuff right I don't remember I can't oddly please tell me they didn't reuse one voice acting what is it what is this Jill see if you can find any other clues I'll be examining this hope this is not Chris's blood footsteps sound think the first zombies down here [Music] oh that's right I think Shay no no maybe I'm wrong okay I was gonna say I thought she started to walk or something like up and they you know little [ __ ] and guess what the other into the whole you don't like to go back to bury and get the lockpick or something maybe that's yeah it might be something like that oh [ __ ] needs to ask you thing in this now I gave me an implement now come in handy that's all he was at the other end of the hall yeah there it is so oh hey I don't remember I don't like urn walk away I've ever had a do [ __ ] in this game like hold r1 to raise the gun here they equip the gun think your menu right oh they don't have a lot of breathing room here I was like r1 to ready it Square to change that's right yeah X he dead dude if the blood spreads you know he's dead that's what they say nope nope [ __ ] I can't head off there's the blood now you know he's dead okay that was your fine that was two-thirds of the bullets I had on one guy he's the nurse that's me in the game yeah like this game is hard as hell like it's ridiculous in terms of stringent just yeah am alarmist ribbons yeah like you can always save your game as many times as you had ink ribbons and they were not that plentiful besar mostly I remember this game as the game that killed my first playstation remember turning the PlayStation upside down yeah did you ever have that yeah yeah I had a PlayStation that wouldn't read discs super-wrong yeah I I rented this game and it would hang at these doors like oh wow I could play the game for about 10 or 15 minutes and then it would just start hanging over those doors and I just learned to [ __ ] despise those tours more than anything yeah because it was the sign that my playstation was dying let me take care of this and then yeah I think once I learned you could turn the PlayStation upside down so it wasn't overheating anymore it worked for a while I thought it was the thing I thought it was it was taking pressure off of the like some spring on the laser oh I don't know I always heard it was the you were letting heat escape by turning upside down Athens vents on the bottom this thing totally but if we get a shot this thing totally has the vents as the violets it's got that vents got the little slats down there yeah all right yeah this all right that's Resident Evil that's Resident Evil a landmark game in some respects I don't know the first thing really about this I can take the next couple if you want have you played this yeah I reviewed this really yeah well it's I reviewed persona 1 what this atlas intro was always so ugly looks like sponges or goopy slime then it pulls out so this this came out here as revelations persona yeah but then wasn't this an offshoot of the Shin Megami Tensei series yes yeah so you know you kind of know it more as Shin Megami Tensei persona right these days but but there were other games in that series before this game right yes okay but this was you know there's something as an offshoot that was kind of more you know it took a lot of a it took some of the ideas from those games were kind of put it into more of this kind of high school setting right and this sort of stuff yeah because there were other not super familiar with the non persona yeah I think there were other offshoots too like Devil Summoner like that I guess this is the only franchise that's around uh they get back to you know it seems like they pull one out of here and there but the thing with this game well you know like it it kind of stood out as being you could talk to the monsters and okay to kind of talk your way past them and I kind of parlay style was it was a neat idea but like the dungeons are first-person oh yeah okay I remember that's a super hassle huh whoa it's breaking the fourth wall right at the beginning marks the troublemaker who the mister force doesn't know holiday but I don't know your stupid localizations word you know you know a little rough around the edges back then I couldn't tell you the first thing about this game these days mm-hmm is it all 2d besides those dungeons dungeons are like the first person but all the like at all but this is also all yeah I always liked playing 2d games on this system because it felt like maybe a little glimpse of what games would have been like if three graphics hadn't happened yeah you know that's kind of the value of the Saturn yeah out of ways right it's just like here's the alternate universe where everything just remained 2d and got better and better now [Music] all right Brad I know if I can Ram in that course of action but I feel like like every other persona game this game is gonna probably take a pretty long time to get going yes so I don't you're probably right how much we'll get out of just looking at the intro to it here I feel like I saw after the the game list for this thing came out I saw a number of people saying this game has been pretty rare and expensive until recently or until this basically like I want to say I saw it going for like 200 bucks huh does that seem it seems totally plausible yes this probably would have gotten a pretty small print run right oh yeah probably all right they're conducting their ritual I believe they make some kind of little ghosts appear mm-hmm or at least that's the idea o all-praised to our Dark Lord yeah yeah I mean you know what our kids if not great at summoning demons right worshiping the devil [Music] ghostly little girl see it's creepier because it's a little kid yeah do you remember what you gave this I seem to remember doing with a favorable review yeah [Music] that seems bad [Music] oh well that yep yep more shots this butterfly here yes you skipped we cannot skate okay let's just see where we end up here okay whoa sure little walnut nose but okay yeah you know [Music] welcome them my name is Philemon cool I live between the world of consciousness and unconsciousness so tell me why are you you you wait come back didn't one answer I guess I really value games that just give you a default yeah world-wide-web William they call me excellent cool there are not many who know their own identity when they have come to this point it seems you have passed the first test by the way have you noticed you carry more than one you in yourself perhaps the merciful the graceful angel you'll talking about money you switch through cell find many masks and you may at this very moment be living behind many masks but you claim your name proving you know who you really are I admire your strong will and bestow my power trust this guy is just hitting us up for a donation call on others within you sometimes merciful sometimes these sellers are embedded deep within your soul this power will help you through your quest into the future go back now into your world the world that's locked between time and space peace out just gonna hang out over here in my space for yay now for all the time does this have the same thing of the same kind of structure of the later games of like returning to school over and over like living out a life and we don't last think it has too much of that it it's been a really long time since I've played this I think that was something they hit on more in three and that kind of became the standard to hat well yeah I had wanted to man I barely remember I'm your boy hold them I didn't but there were two versions of two who and I think only one of them came out in English if I remember right but innocence sin right okay the shot on the back of this box looks like a familiar persona guy oh yeah that Nazi or Igor to a series mainstay yeah okay yeah I think I think I did see some people saying like it was nice for this to be on here just because this game is pretty hard to come by these days yeah that's so that's cool cool it's about talk to this plant there's nothing else what is this thing a hundred bucks yeah and we don't expect it to be tough to find right as far as we know as far as we else yeah soon they will make plenty of them I only talked to the plants where you go to save your game proper memory card operations okay I think we said dungeon when we get out here something wrong it says don't you right there yeah maybe we'll see a fight oh yeah what bet huh this school is kind of a dungeon when you think about it now [Music] man oh man when you use the whole old you're not to use that whole stupid Deen [Music] alright I think we're not gonna get into a fight and yeah I'm soon well I've done it's nice to see the first-person stuff at least yeah can you go left there maybe there's something in there okay something get a little bit nope it was in fact the gym all right well yeah I get the idea yeah so you can you know you didn't fight see new role-playing game things all right r4 was the first the fourth Ridge Racer I was the first one to kind of try to do a little more of a career mmm thing you know the first game was pretty much a port of the arcade game with like you know one additional mode or something you know Ridge Racer revolution was more or less the same rage racer rage racer had its stuff and then r4 was like hey here's this oh this is the rake Onaga hey they're gonna ask a vehicle okay sure say no more and this game just had a cool visual style like designed to like it's been used stuff if I remember right [Applause] the series just gets super drift heavy at a point it always was I think what happened is like people started you know for me anyway I started understanding what you actually needed to do to play it [Music] [Music] it is skippable pack racing solo Mathi team mappy yeah [Music] ease of handling on team happy as much as I am personally no more [ __ ] it we're going we're going team that I kind of think this is how I want my cars to control but hard to not hard to not she was team nappy when given the the option I mean he's a mouse he's a cop yeah I'm gonna side with the police and try to you know see show him that there's a world outside over the law Donald Lewis the manager let's try and go drift see if I can play this game properly or not [Music] in a while since I played at Ridge Racer so I'll probably be terrible but you see it I mean like it's got a it's got a style to it yeah like a head all the menus and still the overall look of it yeah for sure pretty cool especially at that time when a lot of menus just straight look like [ __ ] yeah or there just wasn't a lot of consideration given to things like menus and or treatment on stuff like that Google I'm happy car yeah I remember this I remember that song [Music] oops [Music] [Music] it's weird because you know you wouldn't think you've won a driving game with a d-pad but because of the way Ridge Racer does its drifts and stuff like that like the d-pad is actually kind of time it's more about like timing when you're letting off the gas to start a drift and when you're kind of getting back on it to rein it back in and kind of beat a controlled a car you know it's not a simulator it still feels weird to me to this day to think about what a nonentity originator has become yeah like that just stopped selling like I guess they must have all right you know like they like I just like constantly thinking like surely Ridge Racer is gonna come back at some point right like that franchise it was you to ace combat like you know look if you look at Namco they've been very big on you know kind of getting back into some of their franchises today when like Soul Calibur yeah sure course I don't know maybe racing games in general or just kind of in a weird spot yeah but like you know with Ace Combat being like a you know a VR game and all that stuff like it certainly seems like you could do a Ridge Racer for your the PR Ridge Racer it would be cool are there a lot of viewer driving games yeah Oh [Music] little flashes of it kind of coming back to me but see I thought that was gonna be a sick drift and they're gonna start and go great for me [Music] [Music] you know the other problems like this track we were just racing on I think is in every road racer after this like yeah this habit of like recycling yeah what a ridge racer was just kind of like hey here's another Ridge Racer name it's got all the tracks from all this other stuff and we've changed the booster mechanic a little bit right like five and six we're not that different xbox 360 and ps3 yeah like every platform was kind of getting its own custom Ridge Racer sort of right that custom yeah all right let's play around a puzzle puzzle what's what's not [ __ ] around anymore like of every game on this thing this game by a factor of about a hundred is the one I would actually want to play the most yeah in this day and age and this thing comes with two controllers yes so that's like like yeah I started to say it was worth it to buy this thing just to have an easy way to play puzzle fighter to player that you might be a little much hotter bucks finally fighter I think it's quite worth $200 it's Puzzle Fighter and Tekken 3 so yeah sure but this game is very good yeah [Music] whadda drunk and puzzle fighter in school oh yeah uh somebody who is who is who is overly powerful in this is a Samko somebody I remember somebody being thought of as like gods here in this game all right but I forget here there's a ship an Akuma also only like I almost want to say when they put this back out on XBLA they rebalance it they might have like somebody's pattered I think was just too savage or yeah like that but I want to say it was Hurst or lots that this affects this pushing up try to drop stuff yeah that's right you get the same pieces in this one piece and they're like [ __ ] up already yeah probably bought it so well [Music] [Music] it's hard for me to see the green color behind the difference maybe was is in green and orange bringing the yellow and yellow okay yeah see those look the same to me so it's turned to my paws a fighter strategy and to just try to get those two colors close to each other and eventually it'll probably trigger some kind of cool combo [Music] oh boy [Music] oh boy well [ __ ] I got some very large Jim's down there I can do nothing with stupid eyes huh anything [ __ ] oh [ __ ] me oh reprieve give me a red god damn it ah oh man if I things in this game get really easy if I got in that red where I need it [Music] where [Music] yeah only stuff like that happens it gets very hard to come back sometimes but like if you've got the right gem set up in the right spot like all of a sudden you're swinging 90 back my way totally it's just it's just all contingent on getting the thing you need yeah like that oh yeah like I've just gotten nothing to work with right now [Music] [Music] all right I was a fighter hello game hello game let's move on okay Syphon Filter was good was rough around the edges and it was just it I mean it was the american Metal Gear Solid yeah sure like no stealth just kind of more straightforward action but gadgety and a James Bond way at times but way more of just a shooter smell of your solid without any weird [ __ ] yeah right just play totally straight and then eidetic became Sony Ben didn't that uh or did Sony bend to just do nothing no I will show you how I deal with it Syphon Filter is the name of a virus I think that's right I think it was the same studio that did all these these are the coordinates Ellis sent yeah Gabe Logan yeah they'll use flat faces yeah is a weird style [Music] it's just get it okay Tara Farrell tack DC substation Interpol identity is target's kerimov sad calm when does the operation begin our intelligence within the FBI was not clear but roamers men are already inside the subway is it the same virus yes enough to eliminate everyone within a hundred miles or more procedure standard intercept and eliminate these are from our contact inside Interpol Jenkins team is already on search and defuse you are the trigger I recognize Anton care do in Mara ourumov who's the other one Pavel critic Roma's communications somewhat rough voice acting when you eliminate him you'll also have to just stick um up me you'll be play games voice like song with the fire fight but yes just really grab an hour to find your targets they take them out he's really putting it on oh yeah they're dealing with do I have to kill everyone I'm on my way alright we'll see it run around yeah but weirdly yeah this is the weird way the way we would just lean and that was our cue and our to to do this so it's like you're strafing yeah you're you literally it's a strafe button and so it's just swivel e hips just very sexy kind of like yeah it's like a pretty generous lock on right yeah but then you could manually go in if you wanted to also the kilogauss stuff becomes really sound and behave like Goldeneye guns yeah now that I'm seeing this going back to it yeah maybe a little bit I did see your on this thing's like 99 I don't know yeah definitely would have been after Golden Boy I think alright I play this the same way we played it on the demo derby I'm just gonna [ __ ] zap a dude until he catches on fire Leon roamers man had locked down the subway and creek security gates yeah okay very dark article system physics okay oh wow huh okay then yeah he just hold down the button keep zapping them that's good to be sure he's still burning it's pretty good it's pretty good all right that's like four filters yeah all right probably one of the other games that holds up the vest on here yeah I would guess I would assume so he in version I would have said they had to pull different versions based on like what licensed music was in it or maybe there are some differences like that like it seems strange that some of these end up being like the scee versions and some RS EE and they're like it's just that's a little weird all right you all know the rich history and story of Tekken Wow a lot of characters unlocked that hot that's right I forgot you know hey Hachi no it's always had I mean no until yeah right that's best yeah I guess he was like a boss for like no Kazuya even [ __ ] anybody the plate here yeah there's wall man borrowed I remember how to play this dude it's a lot of kick buttons yeah round one fight [Music] you don't have a hunch yeah maybe says the case of like you know hey there you know when you hook this up to a something that's gonna run in 720 it's gonna run at that resolution or something but this looks sharper than a regular PlayStation yeah so I think Tekken 3 stole like Tekken 3 is probably the earliest you could go in Tekken it's don't have it feel at least a little bit like modern second it's like no load times this game felt like it [ __ ] shot a space when it came out just because of how much extra [ __ ] it had in it and like it was just it seemed like it impossible you know [Music] little blockable know still about of a kick [Music] the singles yeah actually I wonder and if we had the equipment to measure this sort of [ __ ] so all these European versions oh god it's not a pal thing is it are these running at 50 Hertz Oh God surely not I'm gonna have to like dig out my copy of Tekken and we're gonna have to look at it feel like we've heard about that by now yeah I feel like some people saw the pre-release Tekken force mode is that weird side scroller I assume this has gone in it he was a licensed character oh yeah I would hope they haven't altered it in these games let you take this one great thanks I don't understand why this is on here yeah I assume it it's primarily because Ages of hobby the popularity of recent Rainbow six is this Rainbow six is not a game you think over the PlayStation one like you know like these games came out here but this wasn't where you played them if you played them you played them on PC bravery yeah this seems like a weird use of the slot I feel like until the xbox360 came out klancy games were super PC focus yeah absolutely yeah this is a strange one our rebellion did this weird okay the year is 1999 okay a little animation of a dude loading a magazine it's sort of a bummer that the instruction manuals for the games and stuff are on a website and not built into this thing yeah that does kind of stink especially because like a game like this just like what am I even doing the theater no one's house stuff like that built-in no there was a same deal in a lot of cases huh I'm just like John Clark you'd think they'd have like source stuff whatever the source assets are for things like that like original printing type stuff maybe not maybe that stuff slipped through the cracks and a giant company more than you think yeah no guards where's my bedding shot is there is hair there great I love it okay as a really silly little loading animation here's this mostly black screen good luck can you switch between characters I assume yeah did this have no in-game controls of all okay there we go I was gonna say if you actually have to go to a website to see the stuff that is pretty unfortunate autorun jumped okay so there's no like opened or like I was kept thinking like I was gonna walk in one of these doors and maybe not superdude number three is dirty play pick house ha we're nice enough to leave the door open yeah now there's more doors yeah that's how I get the [ __ ] done I know I can't even I can barely tell what the hell I'm looking at the screen is so dark how it looks on the feed he washed at home maybe they can see more than I can right here but all right that's that's Mary boasted yeah all right yeah I don't know why they felt the need to put that all there you twisted metal fan especially okay I'll play this and you play Wild Arms okay if you're asking should we play two player than sure yeah let's just see what it looks like full screen car combat is a genre that had a specific place in this desert time yeah and once that time was over it was over like I said I felt like I got what I needed out of a lot of games back then into the single weekend yeah this was wonderful single track has been an alternate yeah what they like a military contractor before they started making games I don't know a lot of photos of people in these games yeah like the cop electric attack was good do you think that was just like those are just like royalty-free photos or something I wonder where do they like find a guy in the marketing department and dress him up as a cop okay for an hour take some pictures shakey Jake oh God I'm better with a fire no waste of all my specials it sounded like among the people who do like twisted metal - is the one they wanted yeah [Music] you know it's just you know you the aiming you don't really aim just kind of point car and stuff and that's it feels like this was a genre that was meaningful before analog sticks and people found out ways to make just straight-up first person shooters work on consoles and they're like this genre just kind of ran out of room yeah yeah I like to look at those missiles yeah the trails on them yeah yeah it's kind of satisfying to land a missile here and there but yeah did david jaffe work on these yeah like is this what he became known for before God of War I yeah I think that's right yeah I mean he was the name attached to that lasts like twisted metal reboot right what was black black was kind of a edgy take on twisted metal okay but PlayStation 1 was too - okay yeah so I was like it was like you know all took place h2 is capable of these which is way more grim and well congratulations alright there's our password alright make sure you remember that let's twist a metal alright uh just you know never it not for me mine are wild arms those dollars alright I remember this game being all like yeah yeah I doubt we'll see that here playing the very beginning of an RPG it's nice that they've got some longer games in Persona and final fantasy in this letter you know some stuff you can really sink your teeth into if that's the genre you like yeah if not then my peeve it's a media vision of course it's a great logo classic look yeah that's very mid-90s Macintosh yeah yeah I bought this I remember not hating it but I want to say this came out earlier in 97 before Final Fantasy 7 yeah you might be right and they were kind of like really getting some mileage out of like hey everybody really wants a cool RPG for this young soul here's one in advance of the one you actually want right it's got animated [Music] yeah this thing had a weird fantasy anime western vibe to it yeah they made a few of them didn't I uh yeah I will say they made at least three when these veil evasion yeah [Music] all right skip this all right fine I can't oh yeah Oh weird huh I don't remember that at all [Music] it seems bad it's the end of outlaw era civilization is coming sweeping across the West others cars and outlaw lifestyles just order to lead nowadays [Music] dreamchaser I want to say besides the anime video this felt a lot like a 16-bit RPG you have hey like I don't think there was much about this that was very remarkable other than the fact that it had some video here and there I don't move what the combat is like at all in this game I do remember that straight out of like the past I pick up the chickens all right straight I don't like them yeah baby that's why I thought it was very 16-bit ass cuz it's just zelda running the wind up on the run and the wall baths [Music] nope [Music] ah it's willing to fight something okay don't have any weapons rules [Music] [Applause] yes hi nice long life now you're not here that's weird [Music] oh yeah okay it was 3d combat that's right cool kill that balloon [Music] okay stop by della yeah sudol Titans cave [Music] Oh [Music] man when that first popped up I thought I said Smurf law no man the ultimate law [Music] [Music] yeah I guess this game is not terrible I don't think I ever got super for in it yeah I remember people having some fondness for it yeah but again I think it was also just like maybe the first big RPG on the system one of bad God writes roughly what a dark Malad come out on that's PlayStation I was a PlayStation game I want to say those were maybe the first yeah and this was pretty early too and then Final Fantasy came out changed it all so gonna use a magic spell it looks like magic here but weird the cursor like bounces back to the middle if you don't hold it that's both God OS is that stuff he was guy doesn't have any magic bummer oh wait oh there was right what is this force business this okay right spell effects are how RPGs were really judged back to them yeah [Music] monster rock it at that [ __ ] dude out of a big pistol yeah you know of the three RPGs on here this is maybe the last one you would play maybe I don't know depends you taste like you know not as gonna like persona one yeah that first person dungeon stuff I think is a super divisive God you can kind of just go wherever in this thing huh you can't figure it out I don't know yep that's all right well I guess we can figure it out and the strings if I sealed the door shut so I think it's gonna do it for wild arms well so look at those seaweed find the I used to be guides there's a set of licenses yeah okay see that can do oh yeah yeah there yeah straight up okay huh so I guess that means this thing is an ARM processor in it probably oh yeah yeah that's what makes that for that's right file socket dot see hmm mm-hmm oh wow I compiled a version of also utils on my nest long ago nice uh cool yeah okay sure Android tools and yeah I think it's not Debian in there's maybe not this thing is running or something of it so he's okay it seems neat I don't know it's not necessarily the 20 games I would choose but I yeah and I and I feel that way about more of the games on this than I do on some of the stuff Nintendo was done yes like these these feel a little more off of my personal mark but Alden Tendo has the advantage of owning the rights to rest of the games that matter yeah that's true whereas I imagine this thing was even even in this state is probably like hard on a business yeah places and the PlayStation was very much a third party console yeah yeah so you know that's that's uh maybe a little Rufe of bummer but it seems you know pretty well made for what it is yeah Grand Theft Auto one it's a weird one yes I think that's gonna do for us alright hundred bucks thanks Brad sings out there Maui yeah out pretty soon yeah early December December yeah stick into the stocking yeah it'll fit yeah thanks pretty small it certainly will yeah cool all right thanks Brad yep see him
