Holiday Specialtacular: Mario Party Party 11

[Music] hello everyone it's a great time of year for many reasons I hope you were spending the holidays with the family having a great time I think this is an especially good time of year because a game came out a couple months ago now but I've been saving I've been saving it for a very special occasion a very special group of people that I've wanted to share it with guys did you know that a new Mario Party came out oh yeah mm-hmm Super Mario Party it's said the other ones remembered remember we played a we used to do a series on the site remember where we played 1 through 10 we did that one live the packs remember it's not really ringing there's a it sounds sort of familiar but I feel like I'm yeah you please check out a lot of stuff you played as I think you were Mario and he was well remembered it's it was a party game anyway it's a lot of fun there's a new one that's out and you know we like to cover all the latest releases and I love new video games what's this one called this is called Super Mario Party okay so not a number mario party game great no all right sounds good and I'll see you around no no no no this is part of the course series now I want to tell you and I'm not kidding at all you listen to the game of the Year podcast you'll hear this from me it's it's actually one of the best mario parties and i mean that that's not a joke it's one of the best mario part is the best one since the nintendo 64 you hear me tell me Brad do you believe me there's a to verse 2 mode that's really fun we don't have time for that today but there is the traditional 4 player step there's no that car ball shouldn't anymore there's none of everyone in and everyone rolls together and all that stars right that's separately short no no no well ok I do have bad news this one does not have 50 turns there usually 20 but if you beat them all you unlock one that has 30 turns Oh lock them also no no I already did we have 30 turn one we're good to go so I gave you guys some Joey Khan's those are the only way to play you cannot play with pro controllers or I'm doing for anything I know this is the way you're gonna play the game the way the game is meant to be played oh do you hear yeah okay cool all right do you guys want a Mario Party this is all a bad dream so I'm not gonna remember this one I wake up anyways great all right okay great let's get in there it's like when the ghost of Mario Party past visits you in the night as soon as you saw this trailer you knew it was gonna happen to wake up I texted him have a second that trailer showed up at e3 he knew he felt the chill run down his spine as soon as the trailer started Wow oh yes it is really good I'm not kidding can you can you do the thing the thing yeah what's the thing I make him laugh at the title screen I don't think this one's trying to be obnoxious and let me see it man Ari I'm gonna be Mario you can because it's his actually yeah if you just go back and forth between these two you can be annoying oh okay we all lined up at the same time that's all right Smash Brothers alright guys we all have to go yeah at the same time you ready okay so it's gonna say ready and then when it says yeah we all have to go yeah you have to do that with like through the motion so at the same time it says ready wait yeah that just makes you do that at times throughout this games oh like it's motion control there is some ocean control involved but it's good motion control this I don't like the wee ones I don't like the wee ones motion control congruent things you ruined that WarioWare this one's four-player like rhythm game selection this is the traditional one that we will be doing this is an all together co-op thing we're all in a raft together and have to row and play many games together you have to be on a team it's really kind of against the spirit Mario Party this is the two versus two one this is a really really great addition to the game it might be mmm it's right up there with the the traditional way I could give you a whole tour of the party Plaza if you want no way to you know let's just get this thing okay let's do it so this is what I'm summing the ruins that is the first one that one's all right yeah you know oh we got Kingo bombs powder keg - uncanny maybe what do you do with that pineapple okay there we go that's not right one I like that that's called sketchy bridge it looks a little sketchy yeah it closes this is the one I unlocked hammocks tantalising tower that is 30 turns long it's the only one you can do 30 turns oh okay also the cost of stars will change so when you get up there if you hit that like capsule machine thing it like makes stars like instead of ten coins by the way they're ten coins now default to like a 5 or 15 it changes them around and you can buy multiples or what do you mean when you hit it the price changes for everybody or just everybody oh yeah so this one's a little wacky you can buy multiple stars they can be much cheaper this one could get a little wet and wild right all right do it alright what let's do it - ten turns would be about an hour let's hope we can actually do this here one turn I'm gonna click that one what do you guys up to this afternoon we don't have anything to shoot do we anymore alright ah let's do this good to see ya this is great thanks for coming in I've been looking forward to this for literal months and allowing yourself to be dragged back into this hell you got out man no I was texting him from Denmark trying to log that at times like it's good it's good yeah okay all right we are so it's good so it must be different yeah the Alli system is new so that play or that piece there or place what everyone call it that would give you an ally and so if you get that they are with you the rest of the game unless someone hits you with a Dueling glove and beat you in a game and steals but allies are great because they will roll dice with you so you're gonna get to travel further and they will show up in certain mini-games you could have four allies all on like a soccer team in a mini game or something - no yeah it's you've got serious he's been waiting all right Soto dad is gonna sell us our stars okay and whoever has the most stars at the end wins also there are only two bonus stars at the end so there's significantly less [ __ ] there's 33% less [ __ ] in this one now lakitu is the one you will pay to steal stars from people instead of Google official way that makes sense boo is an active participant in this game now so he cannot be part of the board right always get less all right Mara's first it's his party it is [Music] all right our order then does not like the board's in this game what's your favorite Mario Party board ever yeah okay for the first one and there's a keg that pizzas birthday cake yeah the one with the Train uh yeah trains where you can jump up and get coins and stuff yeah that one two stars right off the bat game-changer [Music] wait what was that you know what was the two stars on you can buy up to two but also if you only have a net for one you don't have to buy cheap at a time yeah for the whole game look at this it shows you how many a far you are from star it shows how far it says what turn it is at all times yeah I know like this what how how life's going yeah that's and each character Oh just watching it slowly turn it's like you're watching like I'm a treadmill minutes I'm going to and a half all right good kidnap you're in a cult now they taught me how to turn off the motion smoothing hey before you roll Yoshi every character can do the normal dice block one through six or hit right you can do your characters dice box what the [ __ ] which some of them have wacky crazy like he can get seven I was trying to tell you but you were on a mission some of them have crazy stuff hurts like lose two coins gain two coins and also some places so it's up to you you can roll whatever is likely not my dice black is my dice buckle has once I administer yes that's accurate also as you get allies you can use their dice box as well so if you have five allies you'll have a whole bunch how it's just the other playable characters it like Smash Brothers sure I'll like hey here's the dude from urban champion no no it's not like revolver ocelot it's gonna be willing dice for you alright nice roll girl thank you that's yeah three times as good as Jeff oh this place is crazy too because instead of plus three minus three right out of the gate it's plus six minus six it's made of gold there's a lot of money to be made at Amex tantalising towers everybody I have a different dye yeah so Wario's is it's a good one this is the same every turn yeah but you feel like the biggest idiot when you roll and you just lose two coins and don't go anywhere Mario Party high-risk are you doing it what were the odds first to roll 33% actually it's oh I'll try it [Music] hey good going those were the the things in the oh she's island that would come down and steal the baby right there like weird kamek offshoot that seems like it's kamek was the main bad guy right yeah yeah this is his yeah his zone yeah it all checks out all right our first minigame they've got some good names this time around bring it oh here we go alright bopping spree dust buddies alright this is great too you can practice right from the screen here can get all the controls yeah it's [ __ ] good I just wasn't kidding this is not Mario Boy huh it's like convenience and why maybe like doing the bare minimum it's not yeah we took 11 you know you know what I appreciate a good quality of life feature yeah there are a lot in that I've seen a few here yeah I'm not gonna lie so when you're ready you're just gotta hit one of the SL or Sr buttons yeah Wario it'll work together on this one alright so he's got a big sucker there and we got a three prong sucker that we got to use that yes all right let's call it I'll get the whole bottom area here okay no you won't Oh oh yeah I guess we can't get tough for doing that all right now let's all go time yeah Oh caddy are you if you know damn it you took a little test oh good okay Gorillaz that's not a space well you'll go under him you're gonna wind up on that flashing thing there so here's the thing about him you pay him what you want to pay and then every time somebody passes after this they have to pay more than you paid so you can pay one and then if he passes it es pay two but you could pay ten and then we're [ __ ] for the rest of the game because it's gonna be at least eleven twelve thirteen fourteen and then if you don't pay you can't go that way no it's a shortcut I missed the stars cause um well right now I think they're ten age drew just said a thing was cool Brad are you seeing some stuff that you like it's accessible I'll say that it took three years when I'm with you guys over is oh wait get back to me after the end of match screw job okay yeah that was almost a free star you get in that little wedding she'll get a free star like it just it randomly lit that what I didn't had enough that's how there are you know yes oh it's [ __ ] weird my is almost dough that's kind of fun remember tweezer sure it's kind of like twister but it's a tornado in a bottle you can just stick them on one of us whenever you want you can hold up three items at one time you cost five and I get five to ten yeah so you will at least break even and hurt somebody else so that sounds like Mario Party yes yeah [Music] add the gold pipe if you guys have an opportunity to buy it I would highly recommend I'll make a note of the gold pipe I will not withhold information in an effort to win okay I played this game I do not want to give myself any more advantages over you for the holidays played a bunch with my sisters my sister places and just force it upon he's a nice guy why would you yeah my sister happy holidays my sister's fiancé bought a switch because of how much he loved this still time to get a Viking strong choices about her future also I'm officiating the wedding straw oh yes okay things are looking up they think it to use ride them as little mixer you can use it whenever you want items before role though yeah yeah so like right now if I had anything good I was hoping I could use that right through seven great [Music] like all the playstation of time and yet you still came in and said hey I unlocked this special endurance mode Jeff we have rules about Mario Party perky we play it normal we play the first map that as normal as possible I think it's more important that we do the max turns and so that's why we do kmx tantalizing tale oh oh so the gold dice block that's when you can get and you get to pick what you roll oh six so if you are far away from an ally space you got it that's huge like six coins and the shady shop is shady because I can't pass without buying something is that what makes it you know I think you do in at 666 yeah this is like a weird it's a [ __ ] up shop it's the shady shop I didn't I don't think I realize didn't force you to buy something I think that somebody said what happens if you don't have money are our allies like a choice thing you really want to get yes they will especially to get them early on they will pay dividends throughout the space oh that looks place every space is a bad luck space and crab no Yoshi is an island alright deliver as many packages as you can the team side can carry up to two packages at a time the solo player you have a drone and you can steal our package cool what where we thought it was literally impossible and she lost every single time at the end she actually like teared up at one point because she thought she would finally get Redemption already took it away smarty party brings me great you raised our stars good job you all so I had to roll it to or higher to get the star yeah you made it cost more yeah one more than the coins I have this thing may have a little savagery that I can now give on yeah knows what the world has changed enough that now this is somehow the world caught up - yeah really good Mario Party has Jane it's super now what do the Allied spaces look like it is like a plus IB verse yeah oh it's down there so yeah it's gonna spit you out of this red pipe when you get at the top and then you have this guy there yeah so there's only one on the board yeah and that'll tell you how many world to get their quality of life yeah there's only one on the board but in the two versus two mode every board is like a big grid and you choose like you can go whatever direction you won and so it's a lot of like okay you go get that key and I'll go towards the gate and all allies are just standing there and as you pass them they join your squad it's it's really cool it's good roll they belong you go to the shop wait if I pass that lucky space it does nothing for me right correct you get to land on it yeah that's the one I'll a load up there that's kind of hard to see yeah that's gonna be a Chain Chomp space I can't scroll all the way up you can also do like it's doing out space my we'll take it take a hit if I land on it it's going to Eve you and take your points yeah so you go this way and pay a swamp instead gives me a thing that should be an item space I think yeah that should just give you an item [Music] it'll add three to your role it's okay probably useful something mm-hmm okay ooh versus we're gonna get a bonus me [Music] that's like I want to get coins but I know it's just gonna go right into the verses so every time you roll six other people are rolling for you alright it just says the number either one of those no they're both bad so you might not want to hmm what's your weird dice block six or else oh and they're all sixes you don't my bad that's all lose points at this guy I could hopefully push you past it yeah plus your custom he doesn't have a custom I push no I mean so less your plus your character so if you've got you know and then either way it's either 9 or 2 3 yeah yeah 4 3 yeah who's not a lot of risk for this yeah I think you're in a good spot wait please tell me it gets in different stuff before he's a spirit in and a lot of weird stuff you know Paper Mario except they'll be like characters based on him okay Wow and I think he's been in some of the new super mario wanted it anyone you got a machi that's good - yeah it's good guy yeah he's gonna be with you the rest of the game so he just goes to dice for although yeah so allies real one or two but he also has access to Monty's full-on dice block if he wants to oh yeah he does it's a talking wall he's different than rocky wrench he lives um don't up yawns yeah another ally join and then do I do die spot and then you'll get to pick the thing I somehow I bought his face was expended after you know all right oh yeah boo so it doesn't move around that's the only one for the entire to stay there yeah okay the static nature everything is all weird that's maybe this level because if start definitely moves around in other ones all right so yeah you can use that that's why can't anyone have it makes it feel like more like a real board game okay I can see that like here's where the [ __ ] is yeah there's the start yeah about how much do you lose at the change how it gets we do though is it bad I don't know I don't think it's like devastating okay does it move you back on the board don't call me I don't think so I use this guy in a regular guy I seem to recall some other Mario Party where it chased they'll all be meaningless by the time we get to the end they'll find a way you don't know that always do this is your first time playing the game Jeff I can't make assumptions got a hunch Otzi it's negative Rumble fishing fish for the strangest Rumble okay we move around oh right and so you run around until you feel a rumble and then you pull it up any Rumble we all get one chance with our different rumbles different sides yeah like yeah so if it's a big rumble it means it's a big fish so you go around until you feel something good pull it up HD if you go above the like the bubble Stratego you can go wherever and the allies are just placed like you'll see them at the beginning like oh there's six allies holding dice on the board and so you can choose to prioritize them you can either go over here and get a bunch of coins or you can go pick up a bunch of allies right at the beginning you know it's it's smart that sounds kind of tubers to is genuinely really good what am I talking [ __ ] the goddamned dice oh man I don't have plants s you want to just keep you own with tubers - and there's also the whole four player co-op and the rhythm game stuff you guys played those tries to teach you as you're playing he half remembers you never know what's going on cuz he's just telling you what to do every turn like well what do you do here is go forward four spaces and then I don't know you run to this room and then to get the shotgun then psychological horror is gonna affect this character and you're like okay I guess let's do that this is great it says the light here yeah there what do we I can see why it's so popular yeah I can't pay the toll I've just never been able to picture the circumstances in which a game would come together where everyone knew what was happening everybody has eight hours to spend on a Sunday or whatever loved it and then like maybe you play it again right foot or maybe you are a group of people who like board games in general so you're all playing them for the first time and that's fun in its own weird way probably for someone right it seems like a lot yeah but like it's it's like it's like a [ __ ] deeper version of you
