Playing My Fans Pieces - Episode II

today I'm gonna play three pieces by my fans so two months ago I asked you guys for your pieces and I received sixty submissions so after quite a long review I picked three pieces to showcase for today's video after in a selection I spent an entire month of time learning and practicing these pieces and over time these pieces grew on me as I talked to the composer's about the meaning of their piece so I believe if you don't spend a time to actually connect with a piece you're never gonna be able to bring out its true beauty so the first piece is by RM Rizal and it's called the mix of two emotions or dis French word that I'm not gonna butcher in fact he wrote this piece for two of his classmates so let's listen to his musical portrayal of his two classmates [Music] okay so that was really enjoyable I really enjoyed that B section it was fun and also humorous and Anna Sophia's part was like this elegant but also happy waltz so I'm sure that both of Razzles friends will be happy to hear what your role for them so the second piece is by spikes and it's called licorice radiata this is a very powerful piece much different than a previous one let's listen together [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music] Wow that was tragic so when I was playing this piece I felt this suffocating sense of hopelessness and loss spikes told me that he wanted to portray how when each of us grows up part of us actually dies so in this case the child dies when you become an adult as does your innocence hence the name licorice radiata which is a flower that symbolizes death the third piece we have is by Michael Shen it's called a gentle Zephie er it's a peaceful and beautiful piece yet it has a lot of meaning [Music] you you [Music] let me tell you guys in my entire life of learning thousands of pieces and listening to even more I have rarely heard very rarely rarely hurts such a beautiful melody and you guys will be surprised to know Michael is only 13 years old I think many composers even three times his age would not be able to write such a deep and meaningful melody and this is something I want to emphasize to you composers and musicians out there is that it's not about how much education you have or how much music theory you know or even how much experience as Mozart said neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination going to the making of genius love love love that is the soul of all genius so I hope you guys realize that love and maybe some hell from heaven is all you need to write beautiful music okay so that wraps up today's performances if you enjoyed these pieces you can look in the description for sheet music Spotify and also the composer's individual pages so and I want to say something to those of my fans who are not selected which is don't be discouraged okay because there were a lot of factors that are considered for selection most of them pretty subjective such as whether or not a piece fits my particular style of piano playing in fact I've been writing music for almost twenty years now I've submitted to a lot of composing competitions and I've never been selected for a single one you don't need a judge to tell you that you're a decent composer or musician the only thing that really matters is one if you love your music and two if other people connect to your music that's it so we'll be doing this again I'm gonna start reviewing new pieces next week I encourage all my fans including those who submitted for previous rounds to submit for the next round as well feel free to you can visit my discord server to submit your piece or just come and hang out talk with other music lovers and have a good time finally I want to say thank you to my patrons on patreon thank you guys for your support you
