today I'm going to show you my favorite lick to play over open chords all right and this just makes everything sound a lot more magical I want to see special special it makes everything sound a little bit more special a little bit more spicy all right so if you're looking for something to space up your guitar life then you've come to the right place because this is simple but very effective all right and if you practice this you're really gonna like uh what you hear coming from your guitar all right and of course we can embellish upon this but we're going to keep it really simple for today's lesson all right so we're gonna be playing in the key of G all right we have four chords G E minor C and D and the like that we're going to use okay the foundation of the lesson is going to be this that right there now we are gonna mix up a little bit as the lesson goes on to make it sound a little bit more interesting but that's the foundation of this lesson so let's get this leg down first and then we're on a winner all right so we want to get two on the the G and want to slide that up to four all right now there's nothing types of slides in this this deficits are very subtle sometimes you get a fast leg all right or sometimes you get the note first and then you slide up and that's what we're doing here so we're going to slide up to four and then we're going to get three on the B so it's very important you start with our middle finger so our index fingers free to get that b string all right and then we're gonna do a fast slide with her middle finger from 42. on the G then we gotta pull off [Music] so it's important to keep that tension down on this string right we keep the pressure so that our fingers practically sticking in the fretboard here and we pull it off and we get that that note oh okay and then after that we just need to pull off on D um the third string down two zero like that so nice and slow [Music] so take a little bit of time just to build that muscle memory and dexterity in there so just take your time with that and once you've got that leg down time to have some fun all right so all we're going to do to start is just play that and after each chord we can even start with that so once you get it it's gonna sound like this foreign [Music] every time and that's where you should really try to aim to make it all sound you know sound good so let's just practice that a little bit so again you want to stop the leg you don't need to do this fast at all right so it's perfectly nice slow then we want to get there be snow down down up just a nice sample strum peace down down up right [Music] all right and then just want to just on that obstruct get your fingers off for the next leg right just get practicing your fingers into position to that base note and getting the coordination with your pick okay because that is going to be difficult um you know getting the right string there because oh different things going on at once you need to make sure you get your finger in the right place and you make sure your PEC is going to be in the right place as well all right and when I get to the D chord what I do here is I just take my third finger right and it's already on the B string and I slide that up to five again using that little box from the um the pentatonic scale and then I'm going to get three in the high E string all right and then just come back on the G to mix it up a little bit all right what you could also do right is you can Max that up a little bit rather than do that you could do a double stop [Music] all right um and all I'm doing is get my first finger on two in the B my third finger my middle finger sorry on three on the G I'm getting both of those together slide them up one fret twice so that then I'm just going back into like on the g42 pull off to pull off like that all right so let's try and play that with the combination of those legs all right foreign [Music] nice simple embellishments onto that using the fingers that I have free and a great thing about open chords is that you can do that like for that g for example all these notes I can use because within the G Major scale all right so I can ham it on I can also ham it on and get the string underneath is a double stop you know what it's hard to say all right I can do the same with the c chord in my middle finger sounds really nice and um then with the D you've got your pinky and your middle finger you can just tick on it all [Music] that you can do as well so just doing things like that as well as adding the legs can you know add so much more you know different Dynamics to your playing so let's try and Max everything together just do a little combination of things I'm not going to think about what I'm going to do here I'm just going to Peck randomly all right so uh we'll start with the lag foreign [Music] all right so as you can see just a couple of little tools can make all the difference so I hope you enjoyed that guys um let me know in the comments if it's made a difference to you um if you will add that into your plane and yeah take it easy and I'll see you in the next lesson
