hello guys Tony here welcome to the lesson I know I'm dressed like I'm on my summer holidays in I don't know Hawaii or something but I'm not I'm just here and well it feels like a sauna right now in my house because it's it's roasting here in Scotland and uh quite frankly I do not have that here for this sort of weather so you'll just need to deal with it um but you didn't come here for my fashion anyway you came here for a tasty lick and that is what I'm going to give you because we're talking about the E chord today and that is such a great chord to have and play some tasty Alex with right so I'm going to show you this really cool like um let's get some Hendrix Vibes on it and then I'm going to put it in the context of a nice uh major bluesy progression thing all right so I hope you enjoy the lesson the leg we're gonna learn goes like this all right so let's break that down so we have the E chord now we need to Bar the E chord to really play that slacker right I know some people aren't so good with that but plug away at it right because there's a whole world of stuff that happens when you can do that because right here you're in shape one of the pentatonic scale right the major version the stop box one so two five two four two four two four two five two five but the root is on five on the E strings and two on the G string okay so that's my anal a a [Music] and it's still cheap one so for Target that note all sound like the E major pentatonic so yeah um and basically you've got these notes right on your doorstep you get two four two four right and then you've got this little extension you can slide from four to six five on the B and then back again to the e all right so I'm going to show you how I'm implementing that into this uh that's kind of Rhythm that I'm playing [Music] oh foreign part first right [Music] all right now what you want to start with is just keeping your finger off the strings right so that you've got this kind of [Music] muting effect right [Music] possible effect your guitar basically right now you might just get anything that's funky rhythm [Music] [Laughter] nope some dude I really to be honest with you I don't really think about rhythm with that and I think it's better if you just tried to hear this and it doesn't matter if you get it exactly like me just come up with a cool Rhythm and apply these ideas all right so [Laughter] and then you just want to go [Music] [Laughter] just push that in the strikes if you feel like [Laughter] [Music] [Laughter] all right and once you've got that down you want to then start adding some legs so the like that I like to do this uh Hendrix kind of thing foreign from two E4 right on the D two or on the G back to four on the D and then I'm hammer on pulling off from 24. all right on the G two F four on the uh the D back to the root here that's right so it's a good finishing there on two in the G so all right again okay but of course I'm not gonna have to think about this I'm gonna have my finger barring the E and we can just do that while we're kind of strumming right so and I'm not aiming for the strings I'm just strumming down on it right and when I move my fingers like that um it just it just works and the hammer orange and pull-offs are a bit difficult for you then just don't do them try to come up with some other legs just getting to know [Music] all right something like that just practice implementing and getting the muscle memory and dexterity of getting your fingers across here and getting used to that because once you do you'll start doing it all the time trust me um so the um what we're gonna do after that is we're going to take that idea and move it around the fretboard right because this little Triad can be moved to come up with all sorts of chords so if I take um two other chords in the key of E right I could do a 145 all right which would be an e uh D and an e okay so here's my e to move up to the uh the seventh bit that becomes a d move up to the ninth bit and that becomes an e and I can do the exact same stuff on those chords as well right so um let's just mess around with that right so basically do the exact same thing bar on the seventh fret and baron the ninth fret all right so I could do [Music] like that okay so you couldn't go that fast right I'm kind of speeding up a little bit here so you get the point right you can move that sheep around and do the exact same stuff with them another cool like talking about that was the uh this little extension you've got here as well okay so I could make up another like [Music] something like that but I'm sliding my third finger up to six getting there to be there same up here [Music] all right something nice and slow [Music] oh [Music] all right so um one thing I want to mention is just how you go into those other chords right you might not said the desk all right because that's not here it's part of the pentatonic scale and actually also makes up an a try it all right all right that's all right so I can use this note here to slide in to that shape pretty easily all right and again this is a thing that the Hendricks use a lot okay so I'm not making it up all right so let's go over that Nation slowly right so remember I've got my e here in the set at a second fit my D on the seventh fret with my e on the ninth third just using that same shape all right it's that a shape Triad I can slide anything by taking the ace Dragon cycle to face up from the e shape okay [Music] and then up to 11 on the E string four there for the E okay and then I've got the likes the pentatonic legs [Music] all right and that's it so hope that's giving you some ideas again this is uh just for you it kind of work out your own stuff visualize the skills that surround each of the chords and that says before I let you guys go if you enjoy my lessons and you really want a a structure a course that takes you from point A to point B then you should check out my courses just
