well I'm so thankful tonight to be able to stand before you and several several weeks ago but the Swaggart had asked me to minister a four-part series on Sunday night's and they won't be in consecutive order but a four-part series on Pentecostal distinctives and history and I told the sluggard I said well that's a large subject to try to cover in four weeks and and on a Sunday and especially on a Sunday night format and well he said well just you just be led to the Lord be led by the Spirit you feel Minister what you feel led to do concerning that subject and that in and of itself right there just be led by the Spirit is actually a Pentecostal distinctive one of the things that we strongly believe is Pentecostals is being led by the Holy Spirit Holy Spirit have your way Holy Spirit you lead in his service the Holy Spirit will always lift up Jesus will always prepare our hearts for the word and on you know just as an example of that what we experienced this morning when we experienced this morning in the service was the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit and as we Pentecostals we believe that very strongly and I just wanted to start out there just let you know what is up ahead at least four times for myself ministering and I've told this many times in the Bible College and I I just want to let you know first of all it because there might be some of you that may not understand what that means Pentecostal distinctives what that means what that means basically very simply is basically Pentecostal beliefs what we believe as Pentecostals and I'd like you to turn your Bibles if you would please and I'm going to read we're gonna read together a couple passage of Scripture beginning with Acts chapter 1 and verse 8 Acts chapter 1 and verse a and then we're going to read some passages out of Acts chapter 2 and acts 1:8 Jesus speaking he said but you shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost parts of the earth if you would skip over to chapter 2 of the book of Acts and I know this may be a miss these may be familiar passage of the scripture to you tonight especially if you're Pentecostal if you've been Pentecostal believe it for very long these are what I refer to as Pentecostal scriptures ones that we should know were it that that should be very close to our heart and beginning in verse 1 it says and when the day of Pentecost was fully come they were all with one Accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and have filled all the house where they were sitting and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as a fire and then set upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance and skip down to verse 14 if you would please and 4 vs. 5 through 13 we won't read it but that passage talks about the multitudes that were there in Jerusalem on the Passover day and there were many who were amazed and they they were they were amazed at what they were hearing there were many there were some that mocked what they heard because they heard them speaking these Galilean Jews speaking in other tongues languages that they that these other Jews from other parts of the Roman Empire that spoke other dialects and languages they heard these Galileans speaking perfectly in these dialects and languages and some began to mock saying these are full of these people these guys are full of new wine but drunk and it's only 9 o'clock in the morning but some were some were amazed and wondered what is this and Peter stood out full of the Holy Ghost and he said this in verse 14 but Peter standing up with the eleven lifted up his voice and said unto them you men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem be this known unto you hearken unto and hearken unto my words for these are not drunk as you suppose being singing is for the third hour of the day that's 9:00 a.m. but this is that which was spoken by the Prophet Joel and it shall come to pass in the last days saith God that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams and on my men's servants my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my spirit and they shall prophesy and our show will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath blood and fire and vapor of smoke the Sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before that great and notable day of the Lord come that's the second coming of Christ and it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved and we'll stop right there but Peters message continued and if you've read Acts chapter 2 before you realize that on that day of Pentecost the first day of the church 3,000 people got saved that day and that was the first day the church as God poured out his spirit and and Peter preached an inaugural message and said no no these are not drunk but this is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy this is what Joel prophesied in the last days I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh it said I don't want to minister this series and I'm just going to entitle it this Pentecost for today Pentecost is for today I want to let you know some as I begin I'm not a fifth generation Pentecostal I'm not fourth or third what I'm not I'm actually on my diet my my dad's side of the family from what I know I'm the first one ever to be baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues my mother was the first on her side of the family and I'm the second on her side of the family so my roots do not go back to his history but my roots do go back to the day of Pentecost and I want to say that first of all because some as I deal with Pentecostal history and panic some Pentecostal beliefs some might take that have the view just possibly some might take the approach who to you who are you you you're not a fifth you have to be a fifth or fourth generation Pentecostal to bring this out no I don't I just need to be baptized with the Holy Ghost know my word and know some history and I've got all three so would you pray with me tonight father would you father we just ask you Lord that you would that your anointing would rest upon me to minister tonight what I just asked you Lord for the anointing of the Holy Spirit for clarity of thought and speech and lord I ask that the anointing of the Spirit Lord would rest upon these people here those watching by television or listening by radiologists I just ask you Lord that the power of your Holy Spirit would move the Lord what they experience and the day of Pentecost that we would see today that we and we hear that we we know but we know it Lord but I pray that Lord even those that might be some here and those watching by television that they would know that Pentecost is for today that you're still pouring out your Holy Spirit and it's for them I pray the Lord you would make that real to them and we ask it all giving you all the glory and all the honor and praise and everyone said amen and amen praise the Lord you know I begin this series I want to make a few introductory introductory statements first of all this I am Pentecostal I am Pentecostal this church right here Family Worship Center it's a Pentecostal church and I'm Pentecostal we are Pentecostal here and so are millions of people around this world we're not just us for and no more in a corner somewhere but there are millions of believers all around the world that have been baptized with the Holy Spirit and speak with other tongues since the turn of the century which I will eventually deal with more but since the turn of the 20th century the early 1900's it's been estimated it's been and there's different estimates but some say there's been up to 800 million people that have been baptized with the Holy Spirit since that point where the evidence of speaking in other tongues so I want to make that very clear that that I'm Pentecostal but that term Pentecostal even though I say that I'm Pentecostal we're Pentecostal that term Pentecostal is just simply a man-made term just like Baptists and Methodists and an Episcopalian or Lutheran or whatever so but I will I will use that term I want to make it known I will use that term Pentecostal a lot but I want to make it very very clear from the variability beginning that I'm not lifting up Pentecostal believers that are in the body of Christ as if we are more righteous than other true believers because I say that because God does not have a class system he does not have for all the Pentecostals here and then the Baptist's here and then the Methodists here and then the Episcopalians and then the rotunda Lutheran's all their way way down God doesn't have that when God looks down from heaven he's looking for faith in the heart of people do they are they blood washed do they believe Jesus Christ as the Son of God do they believe that he died for their sins on the cross they believe that he rose from the dead hallelujah that's what God is primarily looking for because that's what makes a person a true believer and a member of the body of Christ and it's penny even though we call ourselves I know I will refer to that use that word quite often Pentecostals we are a part of a greater body and that is the body of Christ but at the same time even though I will use that term and we call ourselves Pentecostals at the same time that term Pentecostal man may label it's based upon a biblical term Pentecost we just read in Acts chapter 2 when the day of Pentecost was fully come why do we call ourselves Pentecostals we call ourselves Pentecostals because we have we believe and we have received the same gift that they received there on the day of Pentecost almost 2,000 years ago the baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues some say well it's not biblical I'm gonna deal with that tonight some say is just emotionalism some say it's even under some II would say it's of the devil but I will infallibly say that if it's something that bit of the baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is of the flesh or it's of the devil it's the only thing that the flesh and the devil has ever done that's drawn a person closer to Jesus Christ come on somebody say Amen if you've experienced it you know what I'm talking about call somebody I said if you've experienced the true baptism with the Holy Ghost then you know what I'm talking about Jesus just gets bigger it changes your it changes your Christian life yes you were saved before and you know how I want to say this as a that and I'm getting ahead of myself somewhat but as a one of our beliefs is Pentecostals true Pentecostals and there are there are different varieties there's a many varieties the Pentecostals but we here and found a Worship Center if you were to dig into it and and and put an official name you would you people would refer to us as traditional Pentecostals traditional Pentecostals some would mock and say you're old-fashioned Pentecostals guilty some would go of in little farther and say y'all are nostalgic nostalgic Pentecostals I've heard that term said about us we're nostalgic that's old-fashioned we don't do that no more come on we need to be more relevant told Cheryl to be on the cutting edge of everything and we don't we know that talking in tongues Stuber that baptism the spirit that that's not that's not really for you know today it kind of it kind of brings you know confusion well let me remind you something those that try to make that argument or even if that thought might be in your mind today here oh we don't we don't we ought not to speak in tongues in church so I'm try to make that argument on the day of Pentecost get this on the day of Pentecost when God poured out his spirit on those that were there in the temple praying you know what there was among the crowd I'm not amazed and I'm on the crowd there these were religious people they were not that they were not people who were who were just drifting off the street and and drug addicts about all that these were religious people some got confused some mods get this and some say some try to make the argument today well if it just brings confusion if there's any confusion if it makes anybody uncomfortable then it can't be of God let me tell you something the moving of the Holy Spirit will make some people uncomfortable and yes it's true not everybody will understand it but it's a preacher's job as Peter didn't day of Pentecost to stand up and say this is that which was spoken by the Prophet Joel you might be a new comer coming in and you hear some people speaking in a funny language and you might be wondering but I just want to let you know that that was prophesied in Scripture that's about ISM with the Holy Spirit but as a concerns being Pentecostal and that that branch if you could say of the church it is the closest thing to the early church that there is interred in today's church what we here what we have is the closest thing to the book of Acts and the book of Acts the early church was a spirit-filled Church was a spirit-filled Church was a church that believed in the baptism with the holy spirit that believed in the gifts of spirit that operated in the gifts it was a church that believed in the laying on of hands it was a church that believed in the supernatural it was a church that believed in just letting the Holy Spirit have his way it was a church that believed that and what we have is 10 accost us today and we are not perfect so when I said I want again I want to say I'm not lifting us I'm not lifting up us Pentecostals as holier than thou or more righteous and other believers because the reality is this is that when you look at the if you can even look in history especially modern history the worst example for true Pentecost for true Pentecost has Fantana Gospels there's so many crazy things that are in Pentecostal or charismatic churches but even though there are some unscriptural things in Pentecostal and charismatic churches don't throw it all out don't throw that don't throw the experience out don't throw it all out there are those who raise up that argument uh-huh well we'll look at that those Dec that group they're laughing like dogs and and and rote robbing on the floor like snakes look at the whole thing is unbiblical it's not of God but though as I say don't throw out the baby with the bathwater and don't throw out the biblical doctrine experience just because there's some some people who misuse and abuse it and so as a Pennock but but I want to say this as a Pentecostal what we have is the closest thing to the book of Acts that there is in the church today the closest thing and we ourselves are not perfect but they get this as Pentecostals we believe we believe it and if you don't I pray this is what I apprai I pray that you do believe that you believe that what we see in the book of Acts is still for today hallelujah Pentecost is for today God is still pouring out his spirit I no matter most of you here know need to know you don't need to be convinced to that so you might wonder what you're preaching like you're trying to convince this I know that you know that but Pentecost is for today and everything that they believed in the early church about Jesus is still for today what does that mean what are the basic Pentecostal beliefs it's this some some believe in a Foursquare gospel that Jesus is the savior he's the healer he's the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit and he says soon coming King but I like to be I I personally I believe as a Pentecostal some taken to approach it with a Foursquare way and I'm not meeting the denomination but the the doctrine but I believe that it's a five-point gospel Jesus is Savior Jesus as Sanctifier Jesus is healer Jesus is baptizing with the Holy Spirit and Jesus is as soon coming King because one of the things that we learned through the message of the Cross that when Jesus died on Calvary it wasn't just to get us through the door it was to keep us keep us in the house Paul said in Colossians 2 and verse 6 as you have received Christ Jesus so walky in him and so we believe that yes as they believe that that and get this Jesus of Sanctifier the church in the book of Acts would eventually believe that especially through the Ministry of Paul would bring that that clarity about the gospel and even even Peter would say in Acts chapter 15 in regards I believe not just to salvation but to regards to some vacation that our hearts are purified by faith and not by the law and don't put a yoke of bondage on the Gentiles that even that we nor even our fathers could not keep so Peter was emphatically saying that it's by faith alone in Jesus Christ faith alone and what he did in this resurrection not in what we do to be saved or to be sanctified and that there is even though again there are many varieties the Pentecostals I want to say this as well about Pentecostals that as the concerns what we believe we believe that we are now saved by speaking in other tongues son Pentecostals believe that we we according to God's Word do not believe that because that's not scriptural it doesn't line up with John 3:16 I get Just Dial does not line up with Ephesians chapter 2 verses 89 does not line up with Romans chapter 1 verse 17 just to line up with a boatload of scriptures and those that believe that that believe that you have to speak into the tongues to be saved will trust the scriptures but we do not believe that you have to speak into the tongues to be say I just want to make that clear even though it's watching by television no salvation comes by grace through faith alone in the sacrifice of Christ at Calvary neither do we believe that salvation comes by water baptism some Pentecostals believe that but we do not believe that when a new why do we not believe that because we do not find it in the Bible water baptism does not save a person again salvation I said but salvation is by grace through faith alone alone in the blood of Jesus Christ as Pentecostals that's what we believe I will say this that's what joins us together with the rest in the true body of Christ because if you don't believe what I just said that salvation comes alone by grace through faith alone in the sacrifice of Christ in the atoning death of Christ and that Jesus rose from the dead and that he is God in the flesh if you do not believe that then you cannot be saved whether you call yourself a Pentecostal Baptist Methodist Lutheran Episcopalian whatever label you put upon yourself that right there is what unites the true body of Christ why do I say that because then when you look in Revelation chapter 4 in chapter 5 when John was taken to heaven and taken into the future in heaven and he saw the actually saw the redeemed the church in than worshipping God or worshipping the lamb you know they said you know their worship you're our worship will be when we get to heaven worthy is the Lamb that was slain come on somebody worthy is the Lamb that was slain hallelujah because you have redeemed us hmm that's what our worship will be in heaven nothing junks he said nothing about worthy is the one who saved us when we got water baptized or when we spoke in other tongues mmm it's not there salvation is only by grace through faith and we expend the cost as we believe that we believe that Jesus Christ is still the healer oh he's the healer today I said he's the healer today Hebrews 13 verse 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday today and forever as Pentecost as we believe that Jesus has not changed that when Peter and John were they walking announced chapter three when they walked in the temple and saw that lame man and Peter said silver and gold we do not have but that which we have we give unto thee in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and that lame man was healed we believe that Jesus has not changed that there is still power in the name of Jesus hallelujah promotes the body there is still power in the name of Jesus our problem is that we know it doctrinally but in our hearts in a diol way down deep in our heart I preached it myself down deep in our heart we have reservations about it we believe it dr. Lee but in our heart sometimes we have reservations about it or remote evaded by fear oh I believe that but I can't so I you know what will people think I tell you you and I as Pentecostals we've been the baptism with the holy spirit is to give us power to be a witness power to take us beyond our self power the Holy Spirit's the purpose of the baptism with the holy spirit to take us to give us power to go beyond ourselves that we with boldness at the situation arises and the spirit leads us it could be a Walmart it could be in the parking lot it can be at your workplace in the right get in the right time the right setting as the Holy Spirit leads you know how doesn't have to be some brace shout or Acts chapter two it can be just a quiet in the name of Jesus hmm come on some is all it takes it takes somebody to believe that he's still the same that he's still the healer today he's still he's the Sanctifier again they would believe that and we believe that today that the same blood that saved us is the same blood that sanctifies us and it is not by our words it's Navin that even the doing of attrition disciplines as needed as they are they are not the means of victory they are not the means of of salvation they are not even the foundation of our sanctification the foundation is our faith our dependence in Jesus Christ in his sacrifice Jesus Christ is the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit he still the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit and there was after thee and I'm gonna do this but later but after the original Apostles died after John died about 95 96 ad after he wrote the book of Revelation history lends itself and it tells us that there was a decrease in the what I'll referred to as the Pentecost working of the Spirit like they experienced in the book of Acts there was a decrease and and but but somebody that that decrease was of the Lord but in reality that decrease was not because of the Lord it was because of man it was because of people men and women in the church in particular leaders in the church and people in the church beginning to look to men rather than being led by the Holy Spirit but I'm gonna deal with that more in the next in the next descent next uh message and there was yes there was say yes there was a but I tell you what it was not of God that there was a that the Pentecost moving in the spirit for much in the church age up until the late 1800s and early 1900s when God began to pour out his spirit again the topeka revival of 1901 the Azusa revival of of 1906 to 1909 when God used that as his a Street revival primarily in our modern times to bring back to bring back to the church what God had always intended for his body and that was for his body to be a spirit empowered Bobby the most about it a spirit empowered Church God did not intend his body to be too to do his work by their own strength by their own wisdom by their own ability he designed that his body just like the early church have the power of the Holy Spirit in order to accomplish his work that's what God intended and that's so God intends now his intention has not changed God brought that church that truth of the baptism with the holy spirit back to the church in the early nineteen hundred's just like God brought the message of justification by faith back to the church in the early 1500s through Martin Luther and other men than Reformation it's interesting the critics they don't argue about that but they'll make them they'll make arguments about the about the Pentecost of what we have is Pentecostals and they will say it's a new phenomenon it's a new thing yeah you have to understand where I'm coming from tonight many of you heard my smile my tell me tell about my background but I was raised in a Baptist home that became Pentecostal so I am very very familiar with the arguments very familiar with the arguments and and I will say this that IVA I actually have a Baptist heritage more than anything else were going back into my history in my family on both sides if they were if they were saved they were Baptists and I think in me such I want to say I thank the Lord that they were saved again I'm not putting Pentecostals as we're way up here and other old way down it the God again God doesn't have a class system but God does have something for his body that's still for today and that's the pouring out of his Holy Spirit but I do think I thank God that my grandparents my dad's side they got saved at a Baptist revival in Mexico New York in the 1920s they got saved and her whole life was changed get their whole life was changed and my grandparents and my grandma grandpa Cornell they told me this getting towards the end when they when they Biff just a few years before they passed away I never asked them this question I just I thought growing up I thought well my grandma grandpa they've always been saved they were born safe so I asked them it was the Holy Spirit I believe that was leading me to ask them because I needed to know this I asked I asked my grandmother my grandfather I said what when did you when did you get accept Christ and to my shock they said well we were not raised in a Christian home we were actually we were our whole our family growing up we were not saved we were drinkers we were wild we were hard workers we have a farm labor farm and farming is a lot both in my background a cornel side of the family strong farming background but we were drinkers we were we were we didn't know God at all but someone had invited us to this revival that they were having at that Baptist Church again Mexico New York and it's not just a country to the little town and Magnon up and upstate and they showed up one night and get this a person that came up to them my grandma grandma grandpa Cornel they came up to them and said what are you doing here and they said well we were invited to come someoe and they mentioned the person that they invited us to come and that individual said you know what we've been praying for to both of you we've been praying for both of you we've been praying that you get saved and tonight's your night they both that's what they said tonight's your night that was at the beginning the service tonight's your night no we're due to get saved tonight you know what happened they both got saved that night and their life was radically changed as a power of the gospel the greatest power on the face of the earth the gospel of Jesus Christ and His Pentecostals get this we believe that the greatest power in the face of the earth is the gospel of Jesus Christ it's the answer to this world's problem every problem the gospel of Jesus Christ that changed the direction of my whole family and my dad's side and my grandparents on my mother's side got saved when they were in their 20s as well and at a young age we're not raised in a Christian home but I say as a Pentecostal we believe and let me go back some I I'm so very thankful for my Baptist heritage but I so I know what I'm talking I know the arguments I've heard them many many many times and I know the stereotypes that non Pentecostal sometimes have about Pentecostals that we're all crazy when we get together we bark like dogs we scratch at the walls and we all phone with the mouth I'm not trying to be funny I am completely serious when I say that there are many that believe that you and I right now are absolutely nuts that we have flipped the lid that we are not one fry short of a happy meal but we're the whole I mean almost all the fries are gone I mean this they're not they're not you're not quite a cult but they're right they are close to it so be careful around those Pentecostals they could influence you with their craziness all the oils just caught up in emotionalism and all that kind of stuff and bless the lord bless the Lord we don't live by feelings we live by faith we sing hymns we don't clap our hands we don't raise our hands we are we are Reverend Reverend and we give respected to the Lord so we're not emotional law but yet they walk out of the church and go hunting kill a deer and go wacko sit in front of a television set watch a football game and all of a sudden that reserved non Pentecostal becomes unglued get this we are made in the image of God and God gave us emotions come on I said we are made in the image of God God gave us some motions now if God gave us emotion all you got to do is just read the Psalms get this which was our I believe a type of New Covenant worship what David experienced was new it was the type of New Covenant work when you read the Psalms you know you hear what do you see you see the clapping of hands you see the lifting up of hands even see dancing sometimes hallelujah and as Pentecostals we believe that it wasn't just for a specific time that had passed away with the original apostles you know there are many in the non Pentecostal world that make that again they make the argument that the Pentecostal movement is a is a new movement and so they attribute it just to men that say they say it's just of the flesh it's just ma it's just some a new modern movement and that belief is called the cessation doctrine the cessation doctrine and I am something that they could I'm not sure if they are able to put that up on the screen or not but I want I want you to see this if they're able to but it's called the cessation doctrine cessation means like it ceased the cessation doctor is pretty much this it's that the Pentecostal working of the Holy Spirit was done away with when the original Apostles died get this the Pentecostal working of the Holy Spirit was done away with I mean what's back here okay okay the Pentecostal working of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts passed away with the original apostles and that it should no longer be expected sought after seen in the church now so many non Pentecostals believe today this right here the Pentecostal working in the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts passed away with the original apostles and that it should not no longer be expected sought after or seen in the church now get this it was August een in the 400s that made that the official quote official doctrine of the church and it an inbred it inner way intertwined itself in the doctrine of the church even an intertwining to solve that doctrine right there it's not of God but I said I'll say that but that doctrine the cessation doctrine again made official by Augustine in the 400s intertwined itself in that in the faking the psyche of the church the doctor the church and was even get this he was even believed by them by the reformers great men of God like Martin Luther or Whigs lingly John HUS John William Tyndale many and many many others we look back at those amendment during the Reformation they believed what was right God uses them greatly to bring the church back to the main issue and that was justification by faith but they still held on to that unscriptural doctrine of the cessation theory I want to tell you today and I know you know this but I just want to and fatica Lee say that the cessation doctrine it's not of the Lord the cessation doctrine I say that I can state on the authority of God's Word it's not of the way it's not of God it's unbiblical the cessation doctrine it all passed away and they the scripture I'm gonna use this the scripture the main scripture that they will use to try to prove this is first Corinthians chapter 13 verses 8 through 10 first Corinthians 13 8 through 10 you could see it in the screen there love never fails but whether there be prophecies they shall fail whether there be tongues they love this part they shall cease whether there be knowledge it shall vanish away for we know in part and we prophesy in part but when that which is perfect is come then that which is in part shall be done away they will try to say here that the perfect that that the passo Paul was referring to in verse 10 was referring to the Word of God I get this the Word of God is perfect the Book of Psalms talks about how God's Word is perfect psalm 119 says it says that several times the Word of God is perfect but get this the perfect that Paul was referring to was not when John finally wrote the last of the book of Revelation and all of a sudden when John finished the book of Revelation then all of a sudden tongues ceased the miracles cease all of a sudden the Pentecostal working of the Spirit as we see again in the book of Acts and even in the epistles it all passed away that's not what Paul was talking about what Paul was talking about when he said when that which is perfect has come he was talking about the rapture he was talking about the resurrection that when you and I are resurrected yes then then tongues will will vanish away it's interesting that those said and that's the main passage that they use but those that use that passage it's interesting they will they will say they will focus on in verse 8 the prophecies they shall fail and tongues they shall cease I've heard them preach this before so I'm not I'm talking I know what I'm talking about they will emphasize those two main things right their prophecies and tongues and they'll skip right over the knowledge part because knowledge has not passed away hello knowledge has not passed away Peter even said it and saying Tim a--they 3:18 grow in the Grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ so when Paul said when that which is perfect is come was not referring to the final stroke of the book revelation it wasn't referring to when the Canon of Scripture was eventually finally put together in the 200s he was talking about the resurrection and I want to go back to Acts chapter 2 for a moment because those that say it's a modern movement what we have is a modern thing it's not of the Lord we read it but I want to read again what Peter said in Acts chapter 2 and this right here is just one proof that what we are experiencing in our day today what for example what we experienced this morning you rise this morning because of modern media there might have been some people around the world that got baptized with the Holy Spirit even though an invitation wasn't even given for that they're not it gave an invitation for people to be saved and I guarantee there were some people around the world this morning that gow same but if the Spirit of God was moving in that saw and chain breaker there's no doubt in my mind the Holy Spirit was moving here and he was moving through that television movie through radio and there might have been some believers that got healed might have been some believers they got baptized with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues even though an invitation wasn't even given the Holy Spirit spoke it spoke to their heart and said it's time boom and boom my wife got baptized with the Holy Spirit at age 19 as she was about she was she recommitted her life back to the Lord when she was 17 and age 19 she was going to bed one night just getting ready to go to bed and at that particular moment wasn't even thinking about the baptism with the Holy Spirit but all of a sudden the Spirit of God came all over her and she began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave the utterance and her own testimony that night she had the best sleep she's ever had but Peter Peter said this in verse as he quoted he quoted from Joel chapter 2 28 through 30 in verse 7 17 he said and it shall come to pass in the last days saith god I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh if you skip down to verse verse 20 the Sun shall be turned into darkness the moon into blood before that great and notable day the Lord come and that great a notable day the Lord is the second coming of Jesus Christ not the rapture but the second coming of Jesus Christ which will be at the end of the seven year Tribulation Period so what is it saying it right now it tells us this that God will pour out his spirit it began in the day of Pentecost and it will stop until the second coming of Jesus Christ at least that full-fat least that scripture by by the by Joel meaning this but the rapture hasn't happened yet the Tribulation Period hasn't happened yet the same coming of Christ hasn't happened yet so what's what is God still doing he's still pouring out his spirit hallelujah he's still pouring out his spirit and what we see in the book of Acts Jesus is still doing it today hallelujah he's still the Savior the baptized with the Holy Spirit the Sanctifier the healer and the soon coming King the gift is for the whole body it's not for a section in the church William Seymore when he he was the man that God raised up but african-american young man in his 30s from from Centerville Louisiana not far from here God raised him out to lead the agretti Azusa Street revival and he said that he would he would say words to this effect at times he would say when you leave this place do not speak of tongues but speak of Jesus when you leave this place do not speak of tongues but speak of Jesus why it's because the holy spirit always magnifies Jesus so when I tonight when I talk about tongues and I talked about how tongues is he they spoke with tongues and tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism with the Holy Spirit and it is a gift for every every person in the body a meaning that that yes tongues we will speak with other tongues just like they did in the book of Acts in Acts chapter chapter 8 Peter and John went to the new believers to Samaria laid hands on them and they got baptized with the Holy Spirit and spoke with other tongues in Acts chapter 9 it's it's it's implied that Paul received the baptism with the Holy Spirit when Ananias laid his hand on him in Acts chapter 10 Peter was led by the Holy Spirit in wintered Cornelius his house and as he was preaching the word and as they was preaching the gospel the Spirit of God came on Cornelius and his whole household and they got saved and baptized with the Holy Ghost and Peter and those that were with him heard them speak with other tongues in Acts chapter 19 in Ephesus Jay Paul came upon some believers in Ephesus and Paul knew something was different he believed he knew they were saved but they were he knew some was different Paul said to them have used have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed they were safe but they hadn't received yet they hadn't received the baptism with the Holy Spirit he's still pouring out his spirit in that moment Peter laid hands on them and they got baptized with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues what's interesting about the book of Acts as I closed the singers musicians came back it's like it's interesting about the book of Acts there is no Amen at the book of Acts there is no it's over it's done it's finished it's over there is none of that no the book of Acts continues you and I as God's people that have received the baptism of the Holy Spirit that know that God's still pouring on his Spirit I tell you something it's upon us I believe there is a mandate of God put upon us and I believe specifically for this ministry there is a mandate of God put upon us that we need to pray that God pours out his spirit one more time in a mighty way in this earth come on somebody some of you looking at me like I read last week news or something [Applause] there's a mandate upon us that we believe the Lord for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit though like even greater than the book of Acts why why that people might get saved hear me tonight that people might get saved what was what was the end goal what was that what was the angle what was the ultimatum of the baptism with the Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 2 the ultimatum was that those 3,000 people get sane the ultimatum was not goosebumps the ultimatum of the baptism when the Holy Spirit is done it's not just a feel-good it's not that it's not your hand your hair on your on your on your arm stick up oh I got oh I feel I got it that's not the ultimate ultimatum of the baptism with the Holy Spirit the ultimatum is that you would be filled with power power the power of the Holy Spirit as Jesus said that you and I would be a witness be a witness a living witness a verbal witness God may never call you to be a preacher behind a pulpit but he's called you to be empowered for something he's called you you have a calling upon your life you have gifts and calling and you cannot fulfill that gift that calling without the power of the Holy Spirit at least the way God intends for it to be come on somebody that kid that calling upon your life oh you some would say well what about other what about Baptist ministers they preach the gospel and and many people gotta say praise God for that praise God for that but if they had the baptism with the Holy Spirit even more would have been done sandi your feet if you would please I was 16 years old when I was baptized with the Holy Spirit I had been seeking the Lord for several months and it had to happen one morning one Sunday morning I went to church on the church who I went to we were small it was an Auburn New York I called Auburn Full Gospel Tabernacle no Lawton no longer assists anymore but my stepfather was the pastor and we were Pentecostal a little Pentecostal church if we had 30 people where we would normally ran 20 15 to 20 but if we had 30 people my lord we thought we were a mega church but one Sunday morning I was at the altar don't remember what what he preached that morning but I remember this I'm almost for certain I was repenting of something did a lot of repenting when I was a teenager but there was a the Lord get this the Lord sees the heart and if you're hungry the Lord sees your heart tonight and if you're hungry for more even if you've been baptized with the Holy Spirit but your heart is Lord I want more I need a fresh filling just like they received a fresh filling and Acts chapter 4 a fresh filling Lord I want more I went to the altar that I was leaning kneeling down and that a man came up behind me that was a man in his husband's wife they were visiting the church that morning and he came up behind me we didn't know him they didn't know us he laid his hand the back of my head and said father in the name of Jesus I ask you to fill this young man with the power of your Holy Spirit Jesus baptized me with the Holy Spirit that day I began to cry and begin to speak whether the time I didn't dance around the church and I just stayed right there but he gloriously filled me with the Holy Spirit and I'll tell you what I said this you might have heard me say this before but I was saved before the event but Jesus was about that big but when I got filled with the Holy Spirit Jesus was about that big because that's what the baptism does the Holy Spirit always glorifies Jesus Paul said the Holy Spirit within us bears witness with our spirit that we are sons of God but when the pilot Holy Spirit comes upon you that witness just gets greater now that you're a child of God but now the son now you can't hold it in I said you can't keep Jesus in that's the purpose of the baptism you can hold them in I gotta tell somebody I gotta live it the most about it I gotta tell somebody boldness he'll give you boldness the man afterwards he told his story I heard him tell my stepfather and mom he said we're not I know we're now from he was visiting we're actually from Rochester New York which was an hour and a half away and he said the Lord woke him up early that morning and said get up early wake you get up you wake up early get your wife up early and go to Auburn to go to church he said lord I don't even I don't know him bunny and all but I don't know of a church in Auburn he said go and I'll show you led by the spirit come on somebody look at by the spirit yes yes that man obeyed the leading of the Holy Spirit him his wife got up early they took route 20 which is a main road into Auburn New York he got to a certain point Lord toll told him take a left I'm telling you this is what he said take a left he took a left and right down the street it sold we were renting an old Catholic Church that they were using no more and there was this old gothic looking building with his little stones with it with Allah who wouldn't sign in front of an Albert Full Gospel Tabernacle and God said that's it go there they main listen throughout the whole message nothing clicked with his spirit nothing clicked it was like what Lord what did you hit what why did you have me here at the altar call when I came what the altar call he saw me and the Lord told him go pray for that young man to be filled with spirit and that morning I was still God God set that man and Howard a half away just for me just for me yes my life has never been the but the same and tonight if you have never received the baptism it doesn't matter what label you put upon yourself if you believe in Jesus and you're saying he wants to fill you tonight with the Holy Spirit have you been baptized he wants to fill your fresh to overflowing and if you want more tonight I know I went over my time but if you want more tonight if you want more I'm just inviting you these altars and just let's just pray this asks the Lord for more that God would pour out his Spirit upon us and out in this world and if you need the baptism you're watching by television or even here you just ask him Jesus fill me fill me it does that you don't have to have a person let hands on you to say Jesus fill me I tell you he'll fill you you'll hear us on your spirit you just speak that sound that's God filling you with the Holy Spirit come on let's just ask him for more [Music] you [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] in this house [Music] receive that [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Applause]
