For anyone who wants to try Pathologic - don't go for the original version.
Pathologic 2 is pretty much a remake and superior in almost all aspects.
Very few spoilers review from Mandalore if anyone's interested.
Pathologic 2 is a beautiful experience and the most innovative game of the year. Patho1 is one of most literary games ever made. If the rumors of IPL closing down or splitting after P2 are finished, then it will have been a wonderful work to close out on.

I don't everyone needs to play Pathologic but I think everyone interested in games should at least know about it.
Gaming is still a pretty new medium, there's a lot of ways to do it we've probably never considered and a lot of trends that could be done differently in interesting ways. There's a lot of doom and gloom in gaming nowadays but when you really look the major suckiness (microtransactions, sequelitis, betas on launch etc.) is still only mostly regulated to the biggest most visible AAA scene (which like Hollywood will rarely churn out anything particularly memorable or interesting anyway). Alternatives in all sorts of genres with all sorts of ideas are ever more abundant although Pathologic's whole 'deliberately unfun to get at an alternative point' angle is pretty rare.
I really hope though that some of Pathologic's (or The Void also by IPL) ways of doing or looking at things bleed into future games, there's nothing quite like it.
I think theres a lot of interesting discussion to be had around games that arent "fun" in a traditional kind of way. Or fun at all really. It's also interesting this video has come out around the release of Death Stranding as well which is another title that many consider not "fun". Not nearly as much as pathologic but still I'm glad these kinds of experiences exist.
So, I have never played Pathologic, but I want to before I watch this.
Is the remake out? I hear there's really obscure for puzzle answers, like on the level of Grim Fandango. Should I just look that up?
What are some good steps for a first timer?
This makes me want to try Pathologic 2 so bad.
I saw it during the last sale and thought it was too niche and weird. Somehow I find out it's even more niche and even more weird and I can't help myself but wanting to experience it.
What was the song clip used at around 1:05:55?
