the Emperor Palpatine had one fatal mistake that he believes cost him the success of an entire Empire hello again acolytes and welcome back to the archives once Palpatine took over as the new Galactic Emperor he was the most powerful being in the Galaxy both in terms of the force and control itself having succeeded in destroying the Jedi and abolishing the Republic as they knew it the first Galactic Empire was in full swing soon all of the representatives and rulers of each world or system would have their power usurped by an imperial Governor assigned to their sector cyas was rapidly growing in his power as well as his reach and influence at the very beginning of it all the Empire seemed Unstoppable in the first 10 years of its existence it was thought to be Unthinkable for anyone to challenge this new Empire but around 1 BBY the Rebel Alliance had fully come together and the empire was having an extremely difficult time squashing this Insurgency and we believe that this all came down to one specific fatal flaw in Palpatine's rulership so today we are going to open a holocron and discuss the reason why the empire fell so swiftly despite all the time and effort that took to build it up in the first place and how it could have been easily preventable how Palpatine's Empire could have reigned realistically eternally and yet one flaw stopped it A house divided against itself cannot stand there are few truer words than this ancient saying one pertaining to the state of unity that any organization must have in order to exist and prosper however the Sith think of things much differently in the old days of the Sith Empire there was only one truth the strong will rule the weak will serve the Sith only respected strength whether that be of the body or of the mind it was there that an established Sith king or Master would Rule and then an upand cominging dark lord who could overpower or outsmart that ruler was completely within their rights to seize the power of the empire for themselves elves this was how it worked for centuries in the old Sith ways when the reign of the dark lord was absolute very few dark Lords ever died of natural causes in this era usually they were killed by one of their subordinates who wanted power one of the only dark Lords to die of old age while still in power himself was the legendary Mara ragnos ragnos who held such a fear and respect to his name that no one challenged him while he lived and all would mourn his death but under ragnos was the Council of Sith Lords which is exactly what it sounded like all of these were Prime Lords of the Sith that held a lot of power or political sway within the Empire and any one of them could be replaced at any moment should someone stronger come along and present themselves to marar ragnos in fact they would often play political games amongst themselves in order to gain favor with the presiding dark lord many will listen to this and understand this to be the main idea behind Darth Bane's rule of two there is one master who trains one Apprentice The Apprentice will learn as they can and then rise up to destroy their master and take their place the entire idea behind this concept of continual backstabbing within the Empire and their rule of two is to ensure that each generation is stronger and more cunning than the previous because obviously in order for the next applicant to take the place of one in power they'd need to grow more powerful or at least more devious and cunning this would theoretically mean that only the strong will ever stay in power at any given point with the organiz ation as a whole getting even more powerful with every succeeding member and this was what Darth cidus believed to be the finest way to rule over an Empire the emperor believed in two things only ruling by fear and leading by strength he considered fools to those who weren't capable of utilizing these tools while he subjugated the Galaxy with an iron fist he allowed deceit and betrayal to flourish unchecked within his high command the grand Admirals Governors moths and grandm along with just about everyone immediately below them would adhere to this way of vying for power just as the Sith had constantly cyas would turn a blind eye and even encourage his officers to do illegal activity if it resulted in more status Prestige or furthering their own goal this meant that his officers in high command in just about every sector and branch of the empire was scheming behind their superior's back and if some such as a governor had already achieved the position they wanted they would backstabbing or screwing over each other other Governors to push for better privileges for the regions that they presided over the truth of the entire Imperial hierarchy was that it was a pool filled with sharks ravenous beings motivated solely by ambition and an insatiable greed Palpatine's entire idea behind this was to mimic the Sith Empire of old and how the subordinates of the Sith Emperor were fighting amongst themselves to stay strong if one of they who were in power were too weak or anpt to do their job properly someone else would rise expose them and take their place for their own this is a simple concept but awful in implementation when it came to Palpatine's Empire what Palpatine did not recognize is that while this may work for the Sith and I even paus to say that very Loosely this does not work for normal people with no connection to the force the Sith have an insight into power that most never will and will never understand the dark side shows them the proper methods towards gaining this power and a desire while minimizing the overall cost average people do not have this kind of insight when their Ambitions are flaring the way that the Imperials did the result was catastrophic failure all the leaders failing to work together utterly using up all their resources for their own goals instead of against a common enemy uniting against a force Palpatine's Empire proved to be a horrible system when it came to results as well as over time severely diminished the quality of officers within the Empire this was a constant struggle for Grand Admiral thron when he first joined the Empire and was working through the ranks he would time and time again come into contact with Imperial officers once that would prevent him from properly doing his job in an attempt to sabotage him captains and Admirals were jealous of thron and did everything they could to impede his work to make him look bad to Palpatine despite this though Thon was brilliant and his ideas and methods would supersede the officers and swiftly he would achieve victory in higher ranks this was a repeated occurrence and the issue here is that genuinely talented and competent people within the empire were getting squashed replaced by ignorant commanders who only have their position and their power in mind never the goals of the Empire always the individual individuals who could not touch the force and could not directly further the Sith in the Empire jobs could be attained through status alone through the right family through wealth and connection and As Time and Time went on your qualifications became less and less important an issue that not only thrawn but even Vader would deal with is commanders that were focused on Glory rather than the interest of the Empire look no further than the Battle of adalon and Rebels during the siege that thraw was laying he gave very specific orders to each of the Admirals he told Admiral Constantine to wait back and attack only when thraw gave him the order Constantine's obedience was Paramount to the plan that thron had constructed but when the time came Constantine instead defied the orders of the grand Admiral seeking glory and thus resulting in his ship's total Destruction and the failure of thron being able to properly capture the rebels Thon continuously struggled with the overambitious and insubordinate officers throughout his entire life a particularly sharp thorn in his side all of this led to the Empire ultimately becoming weakened and having the potential to be all powerful being squandered had the Empire promoted an environment of collaboration the rebels would have not stood a chance and would have been crushed knowing this Darth Vader was especially irritated with the politics of the high command at some points refusing to participate in any of their banter the moment a high-ranking officer attempted to play games with Vader he choked them out instantly Vader was Infamous for killing high ranking officers even more than the Rebellion did and as a small Theory perhaps this was not because Vader could not control his anger but instead to send a message that he would not tolerate insubordination he would not play their political games as they may play with the Sith method Vader was a Sith he took his military seriously and expected nothing less than his ultimate command if they wanted Glory above all it would be instant death that would be the final gift granted to them but this inherently showed the Fatal flaw of this Empire being constructed by the ultimate culmination of the Sith in Darth cidus I feel as though this would have all been fine had the Empire not allowed it to leave so many openings the rebels would constantly exploit this flaw and in response fought with unity and purpose cidus built his Empire by being a politician and appealing to the greed of the individual in the end it was Palpatine's flaw that he implemented the teachings of the Sith into the very veins that pumped through the Empire but anyway my friends what are your thoughts on this what are your thoughts on Palpatine's fatal flaw of the Empire and how do you think he could have remedied this thank you so much as always for watching today and May the force be with you
