hey guys at BB Matson here and we're gonna try something new I've got some real crusty chrome parts here trying to find one of these points covers is proven to be rather difficult I'm watching them for eBay sales right now but as you can see we're through the chrome on some of these parts pretty severely and because of the parts I've got to buy for the carburetors I figured because you know buying new covers each one of these 20 bucks 20 bucks 40 bucks this is probably gonna be 20 30 bucks that's 60 bucks find in one of these arms that's another 20 bucks so easily you know what should be in everything we're looking at 100 bucks so I figured for eight dollars I would give this a whirl there were some really good reviews on it krylon premium metallic original chrome and I think for these parts which you know they aren't heat sensitive necessarily they're really you know they're functional but they're also decorative so I'm going to try clean these up and give these a whirl let's see how good we can do with some spray painted chrome I think the wire wheel is going to be a perfect tool for us today again when you use this stuff make sure that you wear safety goggles okay these little things can fly out and and do some damage okay so wear your safety goggles that's really important this is probably our best candidate today it was a chrome piece but as you can see it's really really pitted out really bad so let's hit it let's just knock it off and get it real nice and smooth alright kind of knock some of that off still pretty rough though I'm definitely gonna have to do some sanding on this for sure I don't think that that that's a primer filler is gonna be able to cover that out so this is going to take a little bit more work gonna have to really work the sandy and I'm let's try this piece again really unfortunately it's not in or terrible shape everywhere else but on these joints it's pretty bad let's just see if we can knock some of this off this look how pitted it is you know I mean it doesn't look it's actually just taking it down to the wire wheel this piece looks a lot better already honestly just hitting this with the wire wheel really cleaned it up a lot I really have to spray this and I just lightly hit some of these spots sand them but honestly I feel pretty good I'll hit a little bit more yeah I'm satisfied with this and blasts some stuff here real quick alright let's try a little luck at sandblasting and see how this guy is trying to give you guys a good view what's going on let's reach these parts here we go let's hit this let's see if we can knock some chrome off of these [Applause] [Applause] alright so sandblasting definitely smooth all these pieces out pretty well I think it's gonna be enough to hit these with filler primer and some good sanding time to smooth them out I think they're actually gonna be fine this one's pretty bad but still like just for the touch it's nice and smooth so that's great and also this cover the points cover this is nice and smooth as well so I'm actually gonna give it a whirl with the filler primer and let's just see if we put a nice thick coat on there let that settle let it dry sand it out we should be able to attack it with some of this premium metallic original chrome paint so let's do that next filler primer on this and let's just see what we can do with it it's probably gonna need a few coats you have a heavy coats a little bit too over this room definitely not awesome but I'm gonna take this on real thick on the top just to the point where I think we might even start running on me again I'll probably eventually break down and and purchase you know some new covers but for now I just I can't do it spent you guys saw the parts here let's let er dry dry some of this chrome and just see kind of how it does it's just a little bit of an improvement I'm ok with that this stuff goes on pretty thick I don't know I think it's definitely bright we'll see what it looks like when it actually dries out but it's definitely a shiny metallic color paint some of this pants got a real unique order to it well it comes in a really small can really really narrow can runs in it that's the only thing I don't want so yeah I mean shoot man from a galloping horse I think it's gonna look all right work looks better than it did so it's a win I guess not super blowing away but we'll see what happens these are looking pretty nice a little bit for about 10 minutes so it's nice and tacky let's do it again there definitely some low spots that I want to fill in because we're gonna get nice and dry and then we'll sand it out the big imperfections are already gone so BAM coke to hitting these tops really really good alright I feel pretty good about how this is turned out looks pretty damn good I'm just gonna rough it up just a little bit with some really really really really fine sandpaper actually I'm just gonna use my scuff pad actually just to smoothen this out that's a filler primer did a great great job so I'm just gonna use my little scuff pad and just kind of work this a little bit I'm pretty pleased with how this came out actually but I feel pretty good about this guy's you know considering where it came from it came out pretty good show you guys one of the covers covers came out pretty good as well that looks really good again that filler primer did a fantastic job on this pretty pleased until I get funds to be able to purchase a new one I think this is gonna look ok let's go let's go get this bad boy with this Chrome and let's see what it looks like [Music] just a little bit more I think damn as far as a product review of those doesn't look half bad not terrible let's let this sit and dad we'll hit her with another coat while we're waiting on that to dry just take a look but actually is reflecting a little bit of color which is pretty cool so overall first impression this might be alright I might be able to live with these results huh surprise all right let's take it up a little bit more let's give it another white coat good points cover you know I do have to say I think it's looking I think it's looking really really good it definitely does add like a little chrome II kind of a feel to it when you look at it that's awesome so one thing I'm also gonna tell you is that I do want to clear coat this so I'm just spraying down another PITA I just took like a little punch and I'm painting the end of it with the same paint and then before I paint it with gloss or gloss clear I'm going to test it to make sure that the clear that I use doesn't react badly with the paint so yeah I think we're in really really really good shape I'm excited all right cool let's wait for the paint to dry alright alright guys I think we're ready for some clearcoat but again before a clear coat I want to test my test to make sure this clear coat that I put on here doesn't you know chip it up or make it fade or anything like that so just gonna test it out see how it does looks like it kind of clouded up that paint just a little bit see that not sure I like that yeah and look at that it's actually it's actually kind of dissolving the paint I think I'm gonna hold off on using this clear coat on this piece for sure always good to test it's always good to test the reaction have had a lot of reactions with paint using this stuff so you always want to check see if I can give you a good look at that see how it like it's kind of bubbling not a fan not a fan so for now I'm just gonna leave this alone I'm gonna let this dry really good but what do you guys think I mean remember what this thing looked like before krylon premium metallic does pretty good i think it's gonna work i'm gonna let this key route it's got a good two coats on it it just looks weathered it looks weathered enough that doesn't look brand-new i actually really like how it kind of came out I think in a pinch that stuff can actually work so I'm gonna go ahead paint all the other parts it will go from there guys thanks so much for watching if you guys enjoys the bit enjoy the videos please subscribe give a thumbs up on the videos that you enjoy also
