Painting on...TRASH?!

[Music] foreign [Music] hey it's me today I'm doing something a little bit unusual if you saw my last unboxing video somebody sent me a whole bunch of bottles yeah it looks like mostly shampoo and lotion bottles that they had emptied cleaned and removed the stickers from and they were suggesting that I paint and decorate these things to me it seemed like a pretty out of nowhere idea but at the same time I'm kind of interested honestly just the fact that somebody took the amount of time to collect and prep all these bottles for me is astonishing I at least want to try it out okay we have quite a few different options of bottle shapes different stuff going on here honestly currently I have no idea what I'm gonna do on these like I have no idea I guess I'm just gonna start somewhere and see where I go right so everyone knows the key to finding the perfect plastic shampoo bottle you gotta touch it throw it down touch it throw it down touch it throw it down and then all of a sudden when the right one comes along it'll just be so striking the way the plastic listens the way the bottle is plain and the way you can still smell the remnants of a very strong shampoo fragrance this girl likes some Strong Shampoo anyway so this is the one getting a chance at a whole second life do you know how many of those bottles would kill for this opportunity show some gratitude I don't know how paintable this surface is it is quite slick and slippery which doesn't usually hold paint very well so I decided to grab some sandpaper and rough it up a little bit and I'll just get rid of the top for now I'll see you later I don't know how much of a difference this made in reality basically it just makes me feel better just don't ruin it for me just let me feel things next step I'm going to apply some gesso all over the thing hopefully it'll make my paint stick better as well I don't know we're still just appealing to my gentle feelings right now but there it's done and now it's painting time all right 2 000 points to anyone who can recognize this color scheme anyone want to try um well you're wrong this is the nafalogian color scheme minus blue nobody knew that except for me I get 2 000 points to myself thank you I'm starting with the purple which then switched to Pink then travels to Orange onto the yellow and ends with the green I left the front and back panels blank because that's where the labels for this product are gonna go then I realized who am I kidding I'm not gonna design a back label for this so I'm just going to bring the color onto the back what sorry you know what the back labels are for ingredient lists nutritional facts directions bogus little informational blogs about the vision of the company I'm not gonna spend several hours of my life designing any of those things so if you want to judge me for that then well you are personally invited to come over and do it yourself and you better do a good job I'm free this Saturday I'll see you then after building up a nice base color I'm gonna start working the colors together in a real gooey delicious blend I mentioned that this was a nafalogian color scheme let me Define that for you real quick but let me back up I got my idea for this design design from the blue lid oh it's gone remember that wonderful blue lid of course you do How Could You Forget a thing like that I think it has a lot of great qualities um particularly the blueness which happens to remind me of blue sauce if you are an ignorant Earthling with no knowledge of nuffologian culture there's so many of those these days blue sauce is a very commonly used dessert sauce on nuffaluffagus as you can see on this cupcake and this is my one and only example because I just made this up last month now once the colors are on I'm gonna go in with a nice blue that's a good color this will be the color of the label since it's for blue sauce but this is a lighter version of the blue sauce it's just the background color on top of that I'm bringing the actual blue of the sauce and painting on some little drippiness to represent sauce and that's going to take a couple layers to really build up that color now this is is the worst part of the whole thing I am writing with paint which is always highly frustrating for me why do I feel like I've never used paint before it's not working this was the only part of this process that I was really dreading I basically have to design a new product label for this bottle there's a lot of variety of different label designs but they pretty much all have these awful little things called letters that little tube by the way is a label that just fell off my camera he's just waiting to get noticed I see you I'll get you in a second I'm terribly bad at hand lettering handwriting whatever you want to call what I'm doing here of course this bottle has to say blue sauce because that's what it is it is the pre-made version of Blue sauce that you can pick up at your local nafalogian market of course everyone prefers the fresh made sauce from scratch but you know we can't all be that talented next I thought it would be appropriate to paint on some Shadow berries since blue sauce is made of course from crushed Shadow berries obviously I was having some very real and unflattering struggles with the leaves there I don't know exactly what's happening to them right now they've become leaves of pudding I added a nice little puddle of blue sauce under the berries to really reinforce my point here and then with some paint pens I went in and sharpened up some of the details here added the little white inner parts of the berries which you may notice some similarities between the shadow Berry and the um strawberry yeah maybe they are a little bit similar I added my juicy highlights to the sauce and finally topped it off with the colorful seeds of the berries added one more catastrophically ugly segment of text I hate to do it but this had to be said made from real Shadow berries now I'm going to apply a nice coat of liquitex glossy varnish over top to protect my design from chipping finally I'm bringing back the oh so wonderful lid that inspired it all now that I'm bringing it back it's too dark of a blue which is mildly annoying we're gonna just deal with that okay here is my final bottle design I mean it's not perfect you know the handwriting really prevents Perfection from being in the realm of possibility but I do think this is a really fun design I actually wasn't sure how much I liked it until it all came together in the end what exactly do you do with an empty shampoo bottle painted like a bottle of alien dessert topping I don't know it'll be sitting on my shelf in my art room just you know bringing Joy I don't know moving on to the next bottle oh took a different approach this time I just picked one make a choice pick you know I figured I have some prep work to do first so I'll just come up with an idea as I leisurely sand and gesso this bottle surely by the time I'm done with all that I'll know exactly what to paint on here oh it's time time to paint what do I do yeah so truly I was making this up as I went along because I didn't have an idea at this point but I just pulled two colors that I like then went ahead and painted the edges pink then I decided you know this blue isn't actually doing it for me to Baby Leon I could have made this into baby Leon Hair Care shampoo for sensitive cotton candy lion hair but I didn't instead I switched out the blue for this ocean green it's like my nails and here we go I'm painting the label with the ocean green I mean I'd call it turquoise but you know and once again for some inexplicable reason I've saved a space for the back label um no my feelings have not changed let's just have a funeral for the back label right now because it's dead now at this point I have finally come up with my idea for this bottle I decided to invent a new product to solve one of life's biggest challenges that's right wonky drizzle I have tried and tried and tried again to create beautifully smooth luscious drizzle but it is difficult so this product is what I call Magic drizzle and it will automatically create Flawless drizzles no matter how uncoordinated you are how does it work I have no idea I'm just here for the bottle design if you want to learn more about that talk to our team of food Engineers is that the right title for someone who never mind unlike the last bottle I actually painted the lid of this one as well because I really wanted it to match and then this should be a magical moment but um actually I realize I'm an idiot I didn't consider that there is an actual front and back to this bottle because the front of the lid can only land perfectly on one side and of course I have chosen wrong so there's a big gap between the lid and the bottle because this is actually the back of the bottle and it should be turning one more rotation to completely close but it's too late to turn back so we're just gonna have to deal with The Gap maybe some gummy bears will help them aren't they cute and if they can't do it then surely sprinkles can save the day so I applied some glossy varnish one section at a time and stuck on these decorative gummy bears and sprinkles all the way down the drizzle not only does this product create Flawless drizzle but this version of it also drops strategically random gummy bears and sprinkles magic drizzle also comes in fudge strawberry and word on the street they're working on Rainbow next you know the food Engineers hard at work next I want to really top off this design Duo Pun It's a top on a bottle of topping Duo puns they are so rare they deserve to be acknowledged today's the day I'm gonna try my brand new faked whipped cream I got this in last week's shopping video if you weren't there to see it then you definitely missed out on something super exciting it is very convenient how you can just take one of the piping tips and screw it directly onto the bottle this stuff did really work well although I did expect it to be a little stiffer I've been using caulk in the past and this stuff it's a little more jiggly a little more liquidy I was worried that it wasn't even going to be strong enough to hold the gummy bear that I stuck in there these bottles are really small and it goes really fast but for this purpose it worked pretty well finally I tried to write magic drizzle on the bottom oh boy that's even too ugly for me no I can't deal with that so I tried that again with a finer tip pen obviously still not the best but I'm gonna live with it I also added my signature to it then one final coat of glossy varnish I don't want to lose a single gummy bear or sprinkle that would be tragic and here is the final result I can't help but reading it as magic drizzle me sounds like some sort of cheesy 90s product but um okay it's honestly a pretty simple design but I really really do like the colors and the 3D elements here are really fun I think it came out cute oh look at that little bear sitting on the whipped cream cute and here is my painted bottle set to the person
