Let's configure the basic wireless LAN controller (WLC-2504) connected with Light weight AP (LAP-PT). Insert a WLC-2504 Insert three lighweight APs (LAP-PT). Insert a 2960 switch. Insert a server. Insert a laptop. Connect all devices with suitable cable. Switch on the first AP. Switch on the second AP. Switch on the third AP. This is how the physical of WLC-2504 looks like. Click on "Management" to insert the IP address. Type in the IP address given. Click on server. Type in static IP address and subnet mask for server interface. Click on "Services" tab. Click on "DHCP" to configure DHCP pool. Type in all data needed patiently ;) Click "Save" button. Now all the data are recorded. Don't forget to switch on the service. Type in the IP address given. Check for IP configuration status. Check for WLC status. Check for server status. Check for third AP status. Check for second AP status. Check for first AP status. Open web browser from laptop. Type in WLC IP address (10.10.10.5). Wait for the WLC interface loading. Enter the WLC interface by creating username and password. Successful to enter configuration page. Type in system name. Any name that meaningful to you. Type in IP address and subnet mask of WLC. Type in default gateway. Click on "Next" Type in network name. You can choose to use WPA2 Personal or WPA2 Enterprise security mode. Type in passphrase and confirm passphase. Click on "Next". Click on "Next". All the data are recorded. Click on "Apply". Click on "OK". Tips: Ping the WLC to speed up the discovery process. WLC activated! Open web browser from laptop. Type in WLC IP address (10.10.10.5). Type "s" after http to activate WLC interface. Login the WLC controller by using username and password created just now. It is time to create WLAN and group the APs. Click on "WLANS" tab. The WLAN named "STUDENT" already created. Click on "WIRELESS" tab to check APs discovered by WLC. Click on "WLANS" tab to create another WLAN. Click on "Go" button to create new WLAN. Type in second WLAN as "LECTURER". Type in the SSID as "Lecturer". Click on "Apply" button. Security mode setting (option). There are two WLAN created. The WLAN SSID for "STUDENT" need to be changed to small capital. Let's change. Click on "Apply" button. The admin status for LECTURER WLAN must be enable. Click on number "2". Tick in "Enabled". Click on "Apply". Click on "AP Groups" under Advanced. Once you created the WLAN, the default-group will created automatically. It consisted of All APs in the default-group. Next, time to assign APs to selected group. Click "AP Groups" to under Advanced. Click "Add Group" button. Type in " STUDENT". Click "Add" button. STUDENT group created. Click "Add Group" button to add another group. Type in "LECTURER". Click "Add" button. Two AP group created (STUDENT and LECTURER). Click "STUDENT" to check the data. Click "WLANs" tab to assign WLAN to AP group created. Click "Add New". Add WLAN SSID named Student. Click "Add". Click "AP" tab to assign the APs to which WLAN SSID created (student). Tick the first two APs. Click "Add APs" button. Now, the two APs are group into AP group named "STUDENT". Click on "AP Groups" under Advanced. Click on "LECTURER" AP group. Add WLAN SSID named Lecturer. Click "AP" tab to assign the APs to which WLAN SSID created (Lecturer). Tick the last AP. Click "Add APs". Now, the AP was group into AP group named "LECTURER". The third AP was assigned to WLAN SSID named "Student". The second AP was assigned to WLAN SSID named "Lecturer". The first AP was assigned to WLAN SSID named "Student". Insert any three end user devices to test the connection. Connect two end devices to WLAN SSID named "Student" and connect one end device WLAN SSID named"Lecturer". Let's ping! All CAPWAP status was "connected". Happy ending! DONE! Thank you for watching :)
