OUTRAGEOUS Sandwich Cake Recipe

wakey wakey rise and shine what will we be putting in our mouths today shut up Ben this is the fourth best thing to come out of Sweden I here Volvo ABA Abba I was going to say house ma this is the fifth best thing to come out of Sweden first of all the crazy people of Sweden invented a shop that is more like a maze that you can't really get out of but when you do managed to get out of it everything that you buy only costs 47p even if it's for a whole wardrobe and then they went and invented a Swedish cake which is really a sandwich why do you have to insult everybody I'm not insulting them I'm saying it's amazing what's great about this Swedish sandwich cake is there are layers and one layer in particular is a creamy creamy smoked salmon Mose equal quantity of smoked salmon cream cheese we're putting in about a heat tablespoon of Hors relish sauce and fresh deal chopped finally Blitz it all up to a smooth paste and season generously with salt and pepper our second layer is PR mayo and it couldn't be any more complicated than the first layer which was really easy and therefore this is also really easy we're going to take some prawns cook peel them and then we're going to put them in a bowl with some mayo the zest and juice of a lemon some parsley and some very finely diced celery as Ben is demonstrating here you don't want to cook and peel your prawns by cooked and peeled ones we did why didn't you just tell me to Su the great thing about a cake is that it should be a beautiful beautiful showstopper so we need to decorate it well what we're going to do is take some relishes and finally slice those the same with a cucumber couple of hard boiled eggs they'll need boiling in salted boiling water for about 6 minutes if they're room temperature they're actually kind of semi hard um which is nice and then we'll finally chop up some chives and make roses from our salmon this is the weirdest cake in the world the sponge to our cake is in fact bread what I've done is baked a classic loaf half whole Mill half plain in a round tin so it looks cake like if you don't want to do this you can always buy a normal Loaf and Lop the crusts off of it make sure that loaf of bread is unsliced yes you will encounter problems if it's a sliced loaf of bread fact what we're going to do is cut this into three sandwich layers and take the very top crust off you can have the crust [Music] thanks make sure you use a serrated knife and you want the soaring action not the forcing it through otherwise you're going to just destroy the lovely soft bread you've got our cream cheese frosting is very simple it's full fat cream cheese mhm salt and pepper right that's just cream cheese and seasoning yeah so to recap a very simple cream cheese frosting a horseradish and dill salmon mousse and a lemon prawn and celery parsley filling plus loads of garnish let's make a cake [Music] so Sweden they actually using sers yeah they do everything s i okay I think it's time we took yeah it's going to be fantastic that right there is a monstrosity now let's make it look pretty me me what's the most attractive flour I quite like chronium uh but also deodal are quite good this time with you they are yeah I got some growing my porch actually uh geras are very very good flowers and what about R do you like roses to okay next up we're going to make some salmon [Music] chrysanthum absolutely go to town on this but it's all about angles and height and folds and your fish and stuff now we've gone for a slightly traditional fishy sandwich to our sandwich cake but obviously you could choose anything you like I mean imagine that as a steak and onion cake now you're talking a BLT cake a club sandwich cake with all those options in the world what would be your favorite sandwich cake let us know there we go absolutely perfect next time you're hosting a garden party it's our Swedish sandwich cake sorted we should have more Garden parties on your Veranda yeah yeah and the moment of truth cuz in theory this looks even better on the inside like a coconut or a hardboiled egg hello that right there is a Swedish sandwich cake good soft bread M and then two layers of fishy Delights I have a feeling that people are either going to love that or hate it well if if you do hate it just recommend other ideas we could turn from a sandwich into a cake anything can be a cake
