hey guys welcome back to my channel today we are talking about mourning basket mourning basket is probably the most popular catchphrase when it comes to home schooling I feel like everyone's like I got a skit or what's in your mourning basket and the funny thing is is before we were unschoolers I didn't have a warning basket so I spent more than half of our year without a mourning basket I don't know why it just never really appealed to me I never really it kind of overwhelmed me and I was just like no we're not gonna have one but now that we're unschoolers our mourning basket is actually a really essential part of our day a lot of their paperwork is happening in their mourning basket their writing is happening in their mourning basket a lot of essential things to our home school day is happening but ruptured part of our day of our routine is in the morning basket so I just wanted to share now that I have one I figured I'd share a video on what I put in ours so let's get into it first things first is our trust it read aloud so if you've been watching our blogs and our day in the life so you've noticed that we have been obsessed with the secret zoo this is such a good read my husband's had the opportunity to read a couple chapters to us here and there and even he is in love with this book it's just such a fun adventure so we start most of our days at least now listen Monday every Monday we start with read aloud because I feel like we have the weekend hangover and it's a good reset now on a Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday sometimes we start with other things in our basket and we end with a read aloud before we get into the rest of our day but read aloud is happening daily all the time all the time another book that we've been reading daily and this kind of like our Bible time is I am so I got this book off of Amazon I will link it down below I love it it's just 40 reasons to trust God and it's a nice little quick Bible story and lesson and conversation starter for the kiddos and I to have so I am we're loving it after that we can go either way so we do have our handwriting books from the good and the beautiful and we do use this not daily but we do do our handwriting now what we if we're not doing handwriting which I'm not gonna talk too much about handwriting because that's pretty self-explanatory but if we're not doing handwriting I also have their journals in here and what's happening in our journals is our monthly writing prompt so journey is a pretty advanced rider so she can do this and do it well titus is still getting comfortable with writing and and writing out his ideas so sometimes he will narrate it to me or his copy work will be something different or he'll do his handwriting book while journey does a writing prompt we're loving these writing prompts if you missed my latest writing prompt video I have March April May June and July all in one video there's not a lot of talking I just flip through the pages with some music in the background if you want some writing ideas and opportunities for your kiddos check out that video I'll link it down below it's April by the time you see this so we will obviously have switched to the April writing front so writing prompts journals journey is like I said when journey does a journal entry titus is usually doing something like his copy work or a sight-word copy work just getting comfortable right now I'm just building Titus's confidence and so journals and the next thing which you guys know I love and I talk about I feel like I talked about almost in every single March video is our morning starters now come next year I don't know what I'm gonna going to replace with these but we'll figure it out um but yeah we're loving our morning starters this just gets their brain going it's good sonic phonics work for Titus and everything for journey titus does have a couple math questions and his on his daily sheets too but I'm just loving this it's just enough like if you are a gentle home schooler like I am if you find yourself leaning more on the unschool ER these are just enough and I highly suggest these if you can't find these may be a morning starter on Teachers Pay Teachers and yeah I just highly suggest a good little morning starter brain pusher to get you started in the morning and I highly recommend putting it in your morning basket the next thing that is in their morning baskets are their independent reading choices for that day or for that week I'm always kind of switching the map especially when it comes to titus so right now journeys independent reader is a Judy Moody book you guys saw this and my third talk I got this for like two bucks at a third store so she's enjoying Judy Moody her yeah Judy Moody and then Titus is flipping through this book and constantly working on his Bob books so I always have two books where he has pretty much mastered and he's good and his confidence is good and then for that week I throw in his Challenger book so Mac is the Challenger book this week and then any day any time when journey is doing her independent reading this is when I curl up with him and we really practice our reading and our phonics and all of that and then the last thing that I went ahead and added our morning basket because I was totally forgetting it throughout our fun schooling and unschooling unit studies style of learning is Titus's sight words so this is not pretty I just ripped it out of the good and the beautiful and I folded it and put it in here just so that I can remember it as a momma so he does sight-word practice - sometimes when Journeys doing her writing prompts those lasts longer than his copy work or when she's doing her morning starter that one last longer than Titus's morning starters so then that's when I'll sneak in some sight-word practice all right guys that is my morning basket as a nun schooler I hope you enjoyed please in the comments below let me know the things that you put in your morning basket if you have a morning basket if you don't have a morning basket why just talk to me because I really enjoy talking to you guys in the comments please subscribe if you haven't hit that red subscribe button be a part of our family we do a lot of fun things around here and it's a great community of homeschool momma's thank you so much for watching we'll be back again with another video soon
