OPENING A $50 BOX OF MYSTERY ART SUPPLIES

hello that so it is coming up my favorite time of year I'm very excited because I love Christmas it's my favorite time of year is the holiday season and if it was up to me I would have a Christmassy background already let's pretend that wasn't there these are still there now because it is gift-giving season there are gift boxes and gift sets off pretty much anything and everything you can possibly think of whether it's Christmasy or not it'll be in a gift set with like Christmassy logos on it to make it look Christmassy like it's a gift you probably find it gifts set of toilet paper if you looked hard enough with like red and green wrapping on it however I was in Costco the other day and came across this little beauty this was a fifty dollar box set of prismacolor art supplies and I thought that it'd be fun to open it up on camera try out maybe do a piece with some of the supplies in here and yeah apparently it's a 52 count set 24 soft core colored pencils 12 chisel ended markers 12 brush markers a sharpener and three coloring pages so opening the box here like that what here we go okay so we've got some coloring pages here a winter esque scene if you can see that like a sunset kind of thing right so oh I'm excited so on top automatically I can see the these are the brush markers are inside so let's open these up this is kind of like a subscription box but better because you actually get your money's worth we have oh I finally got more than twelve markers these are the colors we have inside this is what they look like the double ended and one end is a brush neighbor kind of like the copics and the other end is a little one see this I prefer this personally to a kopeck like I don't care for the chisel nibs on Copic markers like I don't I I don't really use Copic markers but when I do I don't I never use the chisel and I just don't these are all of the colors that come in this set I hope this is focusing on these are not my face so these are the colors that you get with the set you get a nice range here and it has this little nobly bit on the cap so that when you put it on the side it's not going to just roll off the table so that's always a good thing next up we have a twelve marker set of chisel lips I personally would not buy these if it was up to me this is the sap that we've got and these are the colors that come inside it we've got a nice variety there actually I believe these are the same colors because for example the pink here one says pb8 and one says pm8 the pba is actually the brush marker pm8 is the chisel nib and you know i'm guessing that the colors are completely identical obviously i think the difference is just that ones for the brush marker and once the chisel knit so that does come in handy if you want to have three different options you've got the chisel nib the brush nib and the small nib but then you'd be having two by two markers of the same color so you know it's kind of a balance so one thing I'm noticing is this is a Copic marker this is the little chisel nib but this is the chisel nib on the prismacolor marker as you can see it is a lot thicker I'm not sure what the difference actually is in this type of thing but that's quite interesting to me it's a very very very very thick chisel nib I can't say I've seen anything that big before yeah that's what they look like you can buy these separately as I say you can get them set for it but such is cheaper so next up we have two sets of pencil cases here we have ah mine broke I had all these and it broke I'm really happy that I've got another one these are such good pencil sharpeners because they obviously they contain all the the shedding of the pencils in there and they're just really really good so love that this is Joe an empty box this set right here is a under-the-sea set do we have this color range of the softcore pencils very very nice and last but not least and last but not least we have this little set here which is the 12 count landscape set so these are more neutral colors these are very nice as well very very neutral kind of colors and it's nice that they pre select these as well so if you're trying to do some sort of landscape piece it works well I personally think that this was a great little haul of supplies in this box I wasn't sure what to expect but I certainly wasn't really expecting them to be in their original packaging I suppose and I'd be curious to find out what the total cost of all this would be if I was to buy it individually so yeah that was everything inside the box and I think I might make something now to see what I can do with these new supplies and so this landscape set is 14 and 20 9 cents on Amazon this under-the-sea set is $16.50 the brush markers are 25 56 and the chisel markers are 24 93 that means if I was to buy all of these art supplies separately it would have cost me 80 128 so I got a really really good deal on this gift set so I'm very excited and I just remembered that I forgot to include the pencil sharpener and I know from experience these are about four dollars so there we go that's about eighty five dollars that I could have potentially paid but I only paid fifty so bargain I'm thinking I'm gonna need to create something that's more cartoony because there's not much I can do with these colors they're not really gonna blend I was thinking about doing something Mickey esque with this and it was kind of experimenting with the colors a bit it's easy to underestimate the people that are able to make a sketch out of colored pencil because as far as I'm aware there's nothing you can use to raise their low I think electric erasers arrays it right okay let's try and create the circle now I can't draw circles you can't erase blue that's the trouble I don't I really admire people that can just draw straight away really well with a colored pencil because in my opinion it's really difficult I put some nose there maybe might work okay okay this is not perfect if it's done in one without erasing I decided to draw Mickey Mouse from Fantasia because I've never actually told him from Fantasia before and I think that it's such a great color palette to use with these colors that it just seems to be the best option that I have right now he's got wonky eyes darn it [Music] [Music] about that hands way to fish does anyone have any idea what you use to erase pencil with like this because I when I have down my basic drawing that I could have made better if I could have raised stuff we're gonna use some blush markers I think so first thing I'm gonna use is this new purple red in here is there oh okay this'll work so someone tell me why Copic markers are so ridiculously expensive when these are cheaper and they work and what I can tell the same I mean I'm not really someone that uses them a lot so I definitely liked her hippie was opinions on this very pigmented I'm gonna use the little nib for the eyes can I use this color for the skin yep that kind of works it's not the best but it's probably the best I can get I love the way these pencils blend they really really are nice but I can't see them lasting longer the amount of times I sort of really really like viciously pressed down with it it just seems like it wouldn't last very long on me is that blue there's not really that's more purple let's go ahead and try a bc this is the perfect blue perfect look at that that is nice see this is enjoyable I could just do a whole coloring book using brush nipped markers if I'm being honest in my very little experience with copics these are literally no different but obviously I'm not really blending so maybe I'm not one to judge I think I've been having a bit of art block over the last few months because I've really just been so struggling to figure out what I enjoy my seat for me I've always loved did you are and I've always loved making like portraits of people and fan art but I've had I guess comments from not just people who watch my videos but also from another artist as well when they said to me that they don't really believe in making fan art that's why they don't do it and it kind of made me feel bad about myself that I always at that point was making far not you know what I really I really enjoy doing it I really do I enjoy making recreating things that I love and I need to sort of get back to that because I don't know I just miss it a lot and that's why I'm doing this and this is by no means anything that I would normally make to be honest because I couldn't even raise this to make it better and make it more like Mickey because he's clearly not like Mickey's like Willie's dodgy Mickey's that you'd say on on run those scamming websites but yeah I just I want to get back to I enjoy I love the way these prismacolor pencils work so well over the markers it's so just look at that look at that [Music] so much effect surprised I've used every pencil but these ones so far I also actually expect them to use all of them or anywhere near all of them but you know the only thing that bothers me a lot with pencil is the like the little bits that flick everywhere I can blow them away but they're kind of like marking the paper is there a way to prevent that at this point because none of these markers really blend I'm thinking my best bet is just to literally color in solid colors with the marker like this and then just give it more put more dimension with the prismacolor pencils [Music] Yury helpful how to come white pencil like you happen to use the pale blue one because it's all I have but it's not really who I need I'm gonna do some source well in this hand to try and hide my mistake with this hand here I have no I don't this is supposed to be I'll give it a Vincent van Gogh style magic thing but it's just not really worked house it [Music] I'm making it more like a little portal or like a psychic ball in his hand okay so this is how it turned out it's not by any means perfect especially his hand which I did try to fix and failed miserably at but yeah this is what he looks like what do you think I'm really really happy with it other than the hand
