hey everyone welcome back for another video today we're actually going to be going through a review I know it's been asked a few times in the comments I will do that now today and just my thoughts after 10 days of having this device and I just wanted to make sure that I had enough time with it to really understand any of the quirks and some of the performance that I could be getting out of some of the games it was easy enough to set up we did that also on an install video and that was my first time initially putting it in and and getting the drivers up to date and it was a Flawless transaction between the two devices and since then it's been really good especially when I have just the two the legion go and the egpu connected it's been really really good when I started to run into a little bit of problems was when I was connecting to an external display and after doing some chipset updates and I removed AMD adrenaline and set up AMD settings instead as an app and it seems to be better with that you can actually use the USBC port in the bottom here and just use that for an external monitor so you don't even need to use the egpu in order to use an external display if you've got a monitor that has the USBC functionality for that then you can use it that way too it's not like you just have to use the egpu for that the turbo button is a neat feature just being able to put this in overdrive if you want to do that if you want to capture some more power a a bit more gains it's not significant but again if if you want to get a little bit more out of it you can it's not like there's a a fan curve program or anything like that where you can adjust it at least not at this point they haven't released anything like that so if you want to be able to just increase that performance you can do that by hitting that turbo button and that's just a red button right here you can also change the RGB and cycle through it with the other button which is another cool feature to just have that it looks awesome like the device is really wellb built and I know there was some concerns about having the USBC Port right next to the powerport I haven't found any issues at all with like heat affecting that at all so even while I'm playing again no issues I did change out the cable so you can see that I have an LED one that's displaying how many watts are going through the device right now the one that came with it the 1X I didn't find as good of a stable performance with this one I found a way better better performance with this one so if you want a link to that I'll put it in the description if you're interested in in purchasing this cord I did get this one on Ali Express but there is the exact same one on Amazon and as long as you can see here's just another one see if I can focus in on that so a USB C4 and you can see 240 Watts while the nvme feature is really cool it does red reduce the performance just a little bit it's not it's not a significant difference but it does reduce it just a little bit it does help also if you put a heat sink just thermal pad in between that and the plate I found that the temperatures are are pretty good with that so I was a little bit worried about the nvme overheating but I haven't had any issues at this point it's compact it's small enough to travel with I traveled with it over the last couple days thankfully I paid an extra1 us to get the case and the case was definitely worth the money it has like a nice compartment to put the charger in and then a little flap for the cable and then a spot for the egpu so it is a good size compact case to just take with you the performance gains they speak for themselves you can go on the Community page I have a couple posts to see some benchmarks Through Time spy you can see what it looks like with just the Legion and you can see what it looks like with the egpu on the legion go and it's a pretty substantial difference it's about almost a three times gain in performance which is significant this one is comparable the the 7600 is comparable to the Nvidia 4060 and so when you think about that from performance standpoint a 4060 is a current model of graphics card and it is still a performing model and to be able to boost the legion go to do that is is really cool so I do think this is a really great companion for the legion go if you want to spend the extra money it's $680 us right now if you've got the extra funds and you want to improve your performance yeah go ahead and spend the money on it it's worth it if you don't have the funds well then don't go spend the money on it because it's not worth it it's more worth it for you to have that money in your bank account in case you need it than to buy it an GPU for your legion go cuz a legion go still is a really good device by itself this is just if you want to go that extra mile that's pretty excessive but also really cool so if you're a tech Enthusiast you want to boost your device and you know someone can say yeah you could just have a laptop for everything that you have connected here absolutely you could have a laptop you could spend less money between the two devices and get a better laptop but this is just so cool so why not if you can do it and you already have a legion go things that I don't like about the device is the fingerprints you can see your fingerprints you can see them on the video right now you can see all kinds of little Shadows of fingerprints you can wipe it of course it's not a really big deal but it is something that's just a little Annoying that there's fingerprints on there something else that I would like to see on this device is there's just the two USB ports so I can fit my keyboard and I can fit my mouse but I cannot put a microphone or a headset connected to it thankfully the legion go has that extra port at the bottom so I can use that but on the back here we have an excessive amount of display ports so there's two display ports two HDMI ports there's the landline which really appreciate that there's a landline in there we also have the USBC that's going out I wish there was another USBC on this device or again another USB it would be great to just have just one more on there so that you can have that keyboard mouse headset without you know if if your device doesn't have that extra Port it's a little inconvenient from that aspect is you have to extend the little USB hub and and then use that to try to get all your devices and peripherals connected so that's a little Annoying uh the fan wine is annoying if you put it on turbo mode and it starts to really push it'll start to whine which again couple fixes for that is to take out two of the magnets or you can and they're two specific magnets I should I should specify on that or you can take off the back cover if you just take off the back cover the wine will be significantly reduced and that's only when it's really pushing hard the challenges with the display like the external display that hasn't been great for me but I think that I have it resolved now at least today it's been really good ever since I did all these updates with my BIOS with my chipset changing out AMD adrenaline to the AMD Settings app there's no fan curves on here so no application for fan curves again that's okay we do have at least the turbo button that we can turn off or turn on and the RGB super cool so overall I would give this device an eight out of 10 and again the two points loss is just really from the design just not having an extra port on it um the challenges that I'm having with the display the external display and that wine in the fan it seems very odd that their recommendation would be if there's a fan wine to to pull out two magnets out of the back I tried to do that I actually shoved the screwdriver in there and tried to pull it out I tried to heat it up and loosen up some of the adhesive and my screwdriver just straight up snapped in there and I almost stabbed myself so if you want to go for the magnet route you can but do it at your own risk taking off the back plate is much easier just grab a spudger if you've got one and just pull that back plate right off and that will get rid of the majority of the wine well it's not a perfect device it is really great and it is the best one I believe on the market for having that portability with a storage device with with everything that that it comes with it is very featureful and for the price point I I do feel like it's worth it I'm happy with my purchase it's not to say that everybody else will be happy with their purchase but I will say from my experience I am satisfied with my purchase so if you feel like you want to upgrade your legion go and expand with an extra egpu on it and be able to show it off to all your friends because it's super cool and you should go ahead and spend the money if you don't have the money to spend don't spend the money this is just my opinion and again I'm not funded by onx this is my own money that I bought this with there is no affiliation whatsoever I'm not being paid on this this is just my own personal opinion and I really think this this is a great device I'm going to end the video with cyber Punk 2077 if you want to stick around and watch that please feel free to if not hit that like if you enjoyed this video hit that subscribe if you enjoyed this video and it inspires me to make more content so I really appreciate that if you have a comment please leave it below I'm happy to read it and respond I've taken off the controllers on here I did have a request to pull these off and we've got the updated bios for 29.1 beta onto the device we have updated chip set from yesterday we have updated drivers we're not using the AMD adrenaline software there is an nbme inside here we've got limited connections there's only the keyboard and mouse plugged in and we'll be running on 1600p and then I will end the video with 800p on just the legion go with FSR so enjoy and here it comes this is going to be the 1600p run so it's on 1600p full screen desync is off R tracing is off texture quality is low just going to make sure I swap that back there loen scaling is off there all right here's the results on to the next one now so this is The Benchmark results with just the Le and go there is no egpu attached you can see that it just has the radon 780m graphics card which is the one that's inside the legion go this is with FSR 2.1 enabled we're in high texture qualities on 800p so that's a pretty big difference you can see that previously on 1600p low settings with the egpu we were hitting higher FPS than this so it is a significant gain and that concludes with cyberpunk 27 77 round two egpu versus Legion go thanks everyone
