For anyone curious about building their own log cabin, don’t get discouraged by this video! This guy is essentially doing Craftsman-level work with this cabin; from his choice of joinery, the extra effort with fitting the length of the logs tight together, his foundation, the insulation, etc. It’ll be standing for hundreds of years and will be extremely energy efficient compared to other styles of builds.

You could get a similar size built and competed in half the time, but you’ll spend much more time chinking, it won’t be as aesthetically pleasing and the structure may shift over time. It all depends on what it’s use will be and how long you plan to inhabit it.
