[Music] on the surface a Tao expedition looks like any other tour twenty-plus foreigners pile into a big boat shipping off from El Nido harbour and grew to grown however it's an expedition unlike anything I've ever done and something I've been wanting to do for many years but before I get into their story let's talk about the trip itself run a three-day journey north through the remote islands of Palawan and as we pass one paradise after another our midday meals are prepared right on board [Applause] [Music] [Music] Oh [Music] thank you yeah Oh lunch time today we'll get our don't drop his number drop a snapper fish we put our sweet in salsas sweet-and-sour done with a pineapple juice a lot of garlic a lot of ginger turmeric white onion bell pepper and chili and stir fried vegetable yeah same same the vegetable and cabbage salad together with cucumber tomato and turnips the dressing yes same thing yes Filipino power all right today's lunch this has just been incredible from the kitchen right here got a little table setup served this incredible we got salad we got freshly caught tuna got these spring rolls that were hand rolled this morning man stuff with green papaya garlic some onions and a black pepper with a vinegar sauce phanpy [Music] and when the kitchens cleaned up and the food's put away we anchor the boat off and explore whatever island or underwater world the crew has in store one of the first things we're told before the trip begins is that Tao is responsible for only 50 percent of your experience the rest is up to you [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] morning should say good afternoon now just made it to our first big stop of this Tahoe adventure and I haven't spoken to the camera much just because I've been enjoying the the scenery the atmosphere these islands off of El Nido on our Trek to Corona absolutely incredible I've said it way too many times on these vlogs but man this is just beautiful the rock formations coming along we're going scuba diving and there's a shipwreck right behind us right the first camp here at AO this is actually isn't the camp were staying at tonight were continuing on this evening but we're here now playing volleyball getting coconuts out of the trees flying around a little bit walking down this Beach there's a village here from where some of the guides are from it's just an incredible start to day one this place is absolutely breathtaking some of the most beautiful stretches of beaches I've ever seen beautiful rock formations and we're just cruising this is day 1 of 5 with tau as the Sun Goes Down each night we make our way to the evenings camp where we get a closer look at what makes Tao so different and the perfect first stop to see this is right here at tal farm all right night one can I just Ram in from the boat I've taken the bags in that the dry packs in and you have to see camp for night one just this place is unbelievable these huts the architecture the huts let me show you my my home this is tau cribs night one lets you try a bag there's my tank there's the girls up there look at that mosquito net pillows setup huh if you walk right down here here is the beach [Music] the centerpiece of Taos mission is to empower local Island villages and they can do that by sourcing a majority of the food for each expedition right here as well as train new staff members and educate the community in apart from all that I truly believe who's ever giving out Michelin star should come and see this place the food is some of the best I've ever had anywhere [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] day one is in the books night one we are here on an island right on the beach and this is incredible you got the insects chirping you have the birds whistling you have the geckos talking to each other you have these incredible little huts that's some amazing foods today and obviously the islands were mind-blowing palm trees Beauty everywhere you look this tile expedition is off to an amazing start and it's only the beginning that's it for me tonight got my mosquito net I'll call it a night see you guys tomorrow the next morning were welcomed by this remote heaven on earth then it's right back in the boat for more incredible island hopping before arriving at her camp for night 2 along a quiet Inlet right on the water good morning camp 2 we are here this morning bright and early it's about 6:30 everybody's up and moving it was a great great night last night after we got into the camp played a little basketball here in this basketball court some of the local guys it was great and then sat in the jacuzzi right by the water kind of a cold water pool but it's really cool and then we had grilled fish that we stopped and picked up at one of the villages along the way more so now we're just getting packed up back on the boat back to some more adventures some more island hopping before we get to Nene this afternoon these villages are just and you just want to spend months here you know simple it's beautiful so it's right along the water couldn't ask for anything more and our third camp where I would end up spending three nights before finishing the expedition in Corona is this absolute dream destination called Nene Island [Music] good morning you probably won't know this based on the video because it'll be right next to each other but I've been offline a little digital detox for the last few days here on Nene Island the last stop of the Tao expedition after three days of jumping from island to island we landed here in Nene and this is where I've been reading taking naps getting massages going snorkeling watching the sunset drinking jungle juice all from the headquarters of this incredible villa and it has been absolutely paradise but I wanted to take you on a little behind the scenes and give you a a peek at what it's like to be here for the last few days and starting out I'll show you the most important part or the most beautiful part of this entire place and that is the little bungalows that you stay in and this is my little residence here alright so here is my bedroom get a little fan that stays on until about midnight when the power cuts out here is bad there's all my things some bathing suits my snorkel my towel flip-flops and then the most beautiful of all this is what it leads out to and if you scroll around over here that is more of the island so if you come over here these are all other villas and then there's little boats that are makeshift canopies little sitting areas where you can hang out I'm from the canopies come over here this is where all the massages happen right now it's just a couple of beauties hanging out and I'm just reading hanging out over here this is the snorkel station so this is where you can rent snorkels red flippers get a beach volleyball that stuff and if you come over here giving a tour this is the hangout spot this is the mother my mother here on the island say hello hi this is garden got it this is got it I'm Gareth there's some of the boys this is the schedule to check out schedule check in check out all that good stuff stays very orderly if you come over here here's the bar this is the name a bar I've been drinking a lot of gin Camille's delicious and get some party hats there this is the dining-room area as you can see all set out right on the beach to and from there coming in my favorite room this room this yellow house is actually one of the original houses that were on the island wentao Philippines took over it used to be a boutique hotel owned by a very infamous woman here in the Philippines then a giant typhoon came through in 2013 the biggest typhoon to ever hit land and wiped out this entire island as well as a lot of the region and that's where it's how Philippines came in and set up this incredible camp and this is one of the buildings from the original structures you want to be the tour guide where should I go next yeah right oh through the bar okay we're gonna go this way from the lounge room from the yellow house back past the dining area past the coffee stand and into the most important place in the entire place and that is the kitchen coconut milk starting chefs starting to prepare for lunch this is the setup you got some rice cooking there this is the grill red delicious grilled fish okay that's one of my favorite spots just a whole shelf of fruits and veg pretty awesome at every camp that we've been through there's a giant shelf and also on the boat of just fresh fruits vegetables roots that they cook with it's really incredible then over here of all the oils lots of vinegars some hot sauce they called dynamite some soy sauce and it's just the food here has been absolutely just second to none it's the best food I've had in the Philippines and then she even though some banana heart pancakes leftover all right leave here from here this is a compost ya cans rubber plastic you come on the other side past the kitchen you have a whole other row of little cabanas here and then at the boys room here are the showers another bathroom over there toilet over here you got a little gym got a slackline you got some weight got a couple of kettlebells I can't do the slackline so I won't show you that looks like a boats coming in now it's been an amazing trip if you ever have the opportunity if you're in the Philippines I highly recommend it they're doing such incredible initiatives with the women's organization with scholarships with sustainable farming and it's just something authentic and different than anybody else is doing and I'll needle or korone or anywhere in the Philippines for that matter so if you have the opportunity I highly highly recommend come and check out tau Philippines and stay in one of these incredible bungalows on the beach enjoy this amazing place and I better get ready [Music] now to give you the backstory this was a trip years in the making I met the founders of Tao Jack and Eddie back in 2015 while living in Istanbul have you been following this series you've already met Eddie on my journey into northern luzon over dinner in Istanbul they told me about a tour company that they started which directly impacts the communities across the islands of Palawan they develop partnerships with villages to provide education employment and financial support in exchange for running tours to showcase the beauty of this region to visitors there changing what it means to be a tour company and honestly they're a big reason to why I chose the Philippines as my next travel teper series from the moment I heard their story I made it a goal to come experience it for myself one day and after three years this was finally that day and if you ever have the chance to visit the Philippines definitely add this to your list [Music] the word is on the street that the bus really had it out myself I'm sure you've never really heard about I don't believe that anybody feels the way I do about you now have sing it because maybe you gotta be the one that saves me you're my Wonderwall
