let me tell you a little something about my little old street car here 528 cubic Ines christler Hemy goodness that just survived a 700 mile road trip with David fryberger for an episode of roadkill and ran into the eight the quarter mile and came home in one piece I am a happy man fired right up this episode is all about track testing blasphemy that's right we're going to go to a drag strip in the DEA winter here and uh we're going to have to travel to a different state we're going not too far we're going to go to Alabama where it's slightly warmer than it is here in Georgia but more importantly the M drag strip that they had there in steel Alabama is actually open today and yeah this is the rubber duck this is not the car we're testing but it's currently in my way so we're going to move it and I also just wanted to give you guys a quick look at it because it's been gone for a long time and while it was gone we churched it up a little bit look fresh engine compartment no more hot glued headlights that are all crooked and googly eyed and uh my buddy Anthony Bell and his dad worked a miracle on the engine compartment cleaned it all up painted the Val covers I really like that and more importantly they went to the back of the car the underside of the car which is really what I sent it to them for that is a brand new quick performance 9in rear end with qa1 mod series coilovers and a new ladder bar setup that we replaced last summer on the faster show this stuff was all in bare metal and was rusting so Anthony and his dad scuffed it all up painted it even painted the bar as a nice shade of yellow that matches the car all they were were at it they took the hood that was on this car when it came out of the barn and uh cut a hole in it for the blower and put some reinforcement in it and uh looks like they got some notches here for clearance and whatnot and repainted this thing and it actually goes on the car and fits now which is nice so we're going to throw the hood on real quick then we're going to get it out of the garage and bring in blasphemy because we need to convert it from Street to race mode oh it's lighter than a steel Hood but it's definitely heavier than it used to be I hope the car starts after we go through all the trouble of uh the hood back on she was on her the other day Joe has spent the last two days replacing a chipped flex plate and the starter and uh with any luck it'll fire up and drive out under its own power cuz it's not a light car it's not easy to push [Music] hey this one's not nearly as Smoky as the other one this seat cushion yeah is money magic right so we're going to the drag strip with blasphemy which we have not done in a long time or at least you guys haven't seen that happened in real time the truth is Joe and I rebuilt this car about a month ago so that it could go to drag strip two times on an episode of roadkill and it did that and it was a lot of fun and I got to race fryberger and his Model A and I would tell you what happened except I really need you to watch roadkill because I like having a job and it's a really good show however I also told you that the next time you saw this car it would have been on Pete Harold's Dino that didn't quite work out uh cuz we were late putting the car together and yada y yada but it's now back from the roadkill shoot which happened on the west coast and tomorrow there's a private test session happening at a drag strip in Alabama I don't know who rented the track but I'm going to throw them some cash in order to let us hone in on that deal because I really want to drive my car some more before winter is totally here and everything is frozen and closed so we need to convert it from Street to race mode what does that mean that means we're going to change the rear wheels we're going to change the exhaust we're going to change the blower pulley and we're going to put some brand new NGK spark plugs in it because the ones that are in it have about 800ish Street miles on them and they're pretty s they're not the kind of thing you want to just go on drag strip on so we're going to do all that we're going to load the car in the box cuz it's going to be freezing tonight and I don't want my engine freezing so we're putting it in the enclosed trailer behind the ramp truck and then tomorrow we go to the drag this is our street Wheel and Tire combo this is a Coker steel wheel with a firestone cheater slick essentially it's kind of like a truck tire old school style has the quote pie crust sidewall on there these are 11 in wide 15-in rim diameter they don't hook anywhere at any time like they are hard as rocks but they're like the Everlasting Gob stopper of burnout tires like you can do a lot of burnouts on these they last a long time and they look kind of right on this car so this is what I've been driving around on on the street you don't want to drive around on these in the rain you will crash trust me so we're going to take these off and then we're going to switch to some bias ply slicks these are Mickey Thompson ET drags this is is a 29 1/2 in diameter by 10 wide 15-in rim slick these are old Mickey Thompson Wheels that they don't make anymore they kind of look like a kidney bean it's pretty sweet these have screws in them which is why we're running them because we're going to run about 10 lbs of air in these tires and at like 150 60 M hour the tires tend to suck in and without the screws I've been told they may come loose on the bead and you should have the screws Mike which is why after several years of running around without screws in mine um my buddy Jason sent these to me and said you need to drive on these so that's what we're going to so we're going to take these off put these on while this is in the air and these are off we're going to take the side pipes off because it's just easier to do once the back wheels are off uh they unbolt from the car pretty easily the front is a v-band the back is just a couple of bolts through a crossmember we'll put bullhorns on because these side pipes are really Mufflers they're really long mufflers and they eat up about 90 horsepower at the tires like if you want to go slower you put put these on if you want to not go deaf you put these on when you're driving around on the street so we'll start at the back work our way to the front because after doing the tires and the wheels we're also going to switch fuel cells fuel lines and Tunes in this thing so it's kind of a process to go from Street to race mode from race to Street mode takes about an hour to do maybe quicker if you're really motivated I kind of am right now because the temperature dropping and i' really like to load the car not in the dark and not when it's freezing outside so let's go I wonder how quick we can actually get this done I've never tried to go for Speed May set a timer yeah you want to that's set timer right now we'll just add 2 minutes you know 2 minutes seems fair all right well you do that I'm going to start undoing the exhaust okay there's that one there's this other one too really you had two of them on here just this side the other side I got lazy on that I didn't put the middle ones on the other side I would prefer the lazy side cuz yeah two's kind of a pain in the butt all right back here we're going to change this big blower pulley that I drive around on the street on to a smaller blower pulley this was really loose all the bolts for the blower pulley and the tensioner are loose really yep myself and the transport truck driver did this in the rain in the dark what change the pulley change the pulley oh we put it back into Street mode oh come on there we go all right so this is a 59 to Upper pulley we have a 63 to pulley on the crankshaft so the blower is overdriven in relation to the crank that's how you make boost this is a 48 Toth pulley this is the party pulley this is really going to overdrive the blower in relationship to the crankshaft and instead of making like 5 lbs of boost we're about to make 16 lbs of boost which is awesome all right now I'll tighten the bolts already pully engaged party pully engaged we need to have a moment of silence for our socket that broke okay that's enough silence probably a Harbor Freight one don't worry about it I think that's what it was there was a moment of silence when that left the factory it's like they knew you're rain of terror will be shortlived socket all right lower pul is on now we take the air filter off put our velocity sacks back on new spark plugs then's ready to go to the track and now the spark plugs these are the ones that have been in here all week when I've been driving the kids around oh I I just picked one kid up from school I took another one out to lunch the other day like I've been putting Street miles on this thing and uh enjoying it but what a lot of people don't know about this car is and what I learned recently on this last road trip is that uh if you lean it out for fuel economy then it runs hotter and so a lot of like new cars and you know a lot of street cars vfi people at part throttle with no load will run those things at 14 15 to1 air fuel ratio well because a lot of the fuel in this goes through the blower if you try to run this thing at 14 to1 the engine temp will go from 170 to 200 oh wow like quicker than you can say oh damn and so I fryberger was driving the car and I was messing around with the two while we were driving and I leaned it out because we were getting like 7 mil per the gallon and uh immediately the engine temp started climbing so I was like well you're going to run it 12 to1 and we will just change spark plugs when it's time to go racing and that is the life you will live car so that's what it looks like when you got a Roots blower and you drive around at 12 to1 air fuel ratio they get Su and I wouldn't care about that except now we're going to go to the track and we're going turn the boost up and I want to be able to read the spark plugs after I pass and I can't do that when it's all syti okay here you go sir thank you mhm plug wires are labeled makes it easy you going run in that green stuff in your in here what green stuff you know the stuff with the green handle with the pump oh the diesel yeah God I hope not the spark plugs looks like the exhaust tip for the Ram truck rolling coal I noticed the other day when we brought it home and you kind of got on it oh I turn I put it in party mode for you when I passed you no in this oh driving this back with this thing is it's tuned for cruising and idling at no point in that map has it ever been touched for hey let's get on it on the street it needs that bullhorns are on slicks are on spark plugs in are on my side small party pulley is on Joe's putting the last four spark plugs on that side then all that's left is to go to the back of the car and convert the fuel system and then once we plug the laptop in and put the race tune in she's ready to go shoot is already packed tires are already aired it's like we've done this before I'm always done and something we started doing on the dragster was new plugs always got snugged up backed off and then re R snugged again so I basically kind of crushed the little collar we found that like after a pass the new plugs would be loose wow I've never had that happen but you guys I mean your stuff is pretty violent you know yeah all right everything's got an arrow on it there's an inlet and an outlet a pressure and a return this one here marks going that way this one's going that way so we're going to swap them there are two fuel cells under the floor of this car one holds 16 gallons of pump gas one holds 6 gallons of race fuel about 5 and 3/4 almost 6 gallons of race fuel and for race fuel we run E85 but the racing version of it currently this is made by a company called fuel Factory and uh oh my phone's ringing but I can't really answer it cuz I got gas on my hands we are at 24 minutes 24 minutes I bet we can be done in 30 minutes 30 minute changeovers not bad I smell bad tequila That would be our 5 fuel [Music] sir I should be wearing okay can you hold this up here ready yep you want to go take the plug the cap off yep and I'll take the cap you take this hose you take that that goes together there this goes together here all right once we have have switched the fittings from the pressure side and the return side then all we do is switch the connector that goes from our fuel pump to our relay you guys who have been around the channel for a long time know that when I built these two fuel cells I had these cool y valves made by a company called CNR and uh they were super cool I was like this is going to be awesome I'll just turn the knob they're basically like having four ball valves and uh it made switching tanks real easy the problem was they were leaking internally and I didn't find that out until after drag week 2019 was over and I really couldn't figure out why every day we were going slower and uh it was because the fuel was mixing our E85 and our pump gas were mixing with each other every day every pass and so this is just a Surefire way to make sure nothing gets mixed and when it's all done I'll double check there's our Arrow out there's our Arrow out arrow in Arrow in we are good pop up the mess now the only thing we got to do is put the tune in it set the tire pressure and it's ready to go racing I mean Technically she's done we just have to put the tune in it which I'll do right now and I think we we'll be done in another 30 minutes open our tune and we're going to send it to the ECU Go baby go yep I know cycle the ignition boom done what time is it how many minutes is it 2854 under half an hour it's in track mode now we get to go freeze our butts off and put it in the box where it'll stay tonight and tomorrow we will see you at Alabama International Raceway where with any luck this goes faster than it went the last time timeout which was 877 all right I don't know this weather I'm kind of thinking we might want to screw some screws into the bottom of the tires not the sides uh the guy at the track cuz I was asking about that I'm like hey if the track's 40° you know is the car going to hook he's like we had a guy go 390 or no had a guy go 991 60 foot here in similar condition so I was like all right okay he basically called us out and I was like all right fair enough me and my 129 60 foot will do what we can she's ready very very ready I'm excited excited to drive excited to see how quick she'll [Music] [Applause] go [Applause] [Music] [Music] okay so uh not going to not going to give your man any room huh I did I moved forward how far do you want me to go if I go much further I told you these seats are so high my feet are going to dangle off the floor we all got our we got our cross to carry yours is short legs apparently and Tall seats we not that short and the seats are very tall I mean I'm literally like CH Ines from the roof of this car right now these seats are not meant for this vehicle We'll add that to to the to-do list things that aren't going to get done anytime soon right cuz we're building a Cadillac you know when we're not testing blasphemy or working on the rubber duck or any other things we're not supposed to be doing we seem to be doing in my defense yesterday we were just trying to move the rubber duck we weren't supposed to be really working on it but I can't help it if the ring gear you know lost some teeth and the car wouldn't start and it ended up on jack stands for two days but it's happy now oh we we have repurposed yet another part from that BS 632 Chevy that came out of the jet boat and uh we stole the flex plate off of it and it is now in the rubber duck if all goes well today and we're happy with this car blasphemy and its quarter mile performance we need to take the rubber duck to a drag strip and finally run an 8sec pass cuz it's never done it it's gone 904 904 904 has not gone an eight but have you put the party police to it no oh really no it did a 9004 with like a is either 50 or 52 tooth I forget which but not the party bully so we are driving to Alabama International Dragway and steel Alabama the only drag strip that I'm aware of that is currently open on a Tuesday in November here in Georgia it is 30° out by the time we get there it might be 35 by the time we're ready to run the car allegedly it'll be 40 I believe the high is 48 for today I've never run the car on a track that cold um goal here is to try a new shifting strategy and to see can I go quicker than I went recently in the car what you guys have not seen is that the car went to California after Joe and I put it back together with coil unplug ignition and dry sump oiling Pete tuned it on the chassis Dyno it went to California frer and I lined up his Model A versus blasphemy and as usual it went full-on road kill style um I made a test hit got into the eights was happy ran against fryberger and the first pass it just blew the tires off at the starting line even though I hadn't made any changes to the car it was weird and uh second pass uh well first pass I blew the tires off and he red lit so it was a crap run crap race but I won somehow cuz the red lit the second race after cutting o lights all day long I go O2 red and lose with an 877 he cuts like a 29 light um he was saying he is having problems with his trans brake or something and he goes 871 so I lose the second race and then it was dark and there were no lights and were there lights I don't know it was dark and we we had to leave so a problem with the Trans break he's having it's called arthritis when you get that age oh I mean I'm not in the car with him I don't know I don't know but uh yeah I'll get there David so officially we're one in one my car went 877 at like 154 which is not nearly as quick as it should be going and so we're going to another track today to test the car again and see can we go quicker cuz my goal between me and you guys is to put it on an 850 number anywhere at any track uh we've put about 800 M of Street driving on it the car is great on the street doesn't overheat everything works fine Street tune needs a little bit of tweaking we'll handle that but uh now we just need to work out the drag strip performance because for once in our lives we are going to be prepared or as prepared as we can be before we show up to an event with this car it's refreshing I know I'm excited too and this is our last trip with the heavy old he coock Steel trailer lot of good memory yeah a lot of bro boat races where we broke the boat we still had fun we had you know what you know what sad about the boat racing thing especially with the last video and I blame myself for this is the last boat racing video we made we just kind of got right into it I didn't really give much of the history of side chick and one of the things I should have said to everybody was we won a bunch of rounds in that boat this year in fact we won two races One race we won two of the three classes we entered you know we ended up second in points in the unblown fuel jet class at the NJ for the year yeah we only raced half the season but we did so good when we were there that we got second place in unblown fuel jet um without racing every event so until we went to the World Finals you know yeah the thing was unreliable but we were managing to win races and rounds um you all just didn't see that at all so so to your point Jordan we did have good memories with this trailer but this trailer is heavy someone else is going to own it here I think this weekend and then uh we're going to go to the pr show and pick up a brand new trailer I've never bought a brand new trailer in my life I'm so fired up I've never I you know mean I always buy used things and this is in the shot this whole time sorry for all that I'm sure it was annoying you know to to touch on Phoenix that was um we did go rounds shoot we worked for it though and it was a buy yeah yeah we we're first place we barely look we barely made that one yeah oh yeah that's right we didn't even go down the track no yeah we had a round where we didn't have to race anyone and we still didn't go down the track I was excited though just to break the beams felt like an accomplishment like I said nobody saw it but Bob and I standing there at the starting line up on the grass as soon as you broke the beams we were cheering everybody's like what what what's going on and we're like the happiest guys in the world yeah we made him pass around anyone a round nobody in the water next to us barely minute past the first beam yeah it reminded me of a lot of the first time I ever ran nitrous was put it on the boat and go slower and I've learned a lot since then we were really good at nitrous racing the last time we did this my old boat and Parker it went 144 mph on the bottle with one stage in a 38 Jet and it was a monster we were number one qualifier like that boat ripped on the bottle I don't know what tuneup was in this thing it wasn't my tuneup but Jesus it was junk and the motor was junk so we're past that we're moving on so we're 2 miles from the drag strip right now only two yeah Jordan's been awake the whole trip 2 miles from the drag trip he passes out what are you going to do to him ready mhm they're all the [Laughter] go you uh you were awake the entire trip 2 miles from the track you pass out I love it we made it not only do we make it we made it on the same day we left that's good that's a bonus for us yeah Alabama International Dragway I've only been here once before and this is where I came in the rubber duck and where it ran 904 904 904 welcome race fans this track has a really good surface so I don't know who rented the track today but we got to give them cash they're here to test for um the snowbirds down in Bradon this weekend so they're going to be pretty serious about what they're doing so we'll do our best not to leak fluids or uh get in their way yeah look they you know they're serious they totor homes mhm all kinds of stuff oh yeah don't mind us some YouTubers coming to hang out out Crash Your Party it was cheaper than I thought it was going to be it's 300 bucks for our portion of the test session it looks like that's cheap oh dude one two and I think there's only three people here so $300 to get access to a drag strip for an entire day I've never had a test session with blasphemy like legit we've never just sat at a drag strip and tested the car so totally worth 300 bucks we're going to learn some stuff today boys I want you guys to appreciate the amount of restraint I'm showing here there's blasphemy we're at a drag strip going testing but that's not the restraint there is my old trailer hooked to the ramp truck blasphemy was in the trailer last night cuz it was freezing outside we didn't want to crack the engine block so rather than put it on the back of the ramp truck we stuck it in the trailer now we just towed blasphemy all the way here in that trailer with nothing on the back of the ramp truck I got to be honest I was tempted to put the rubber duck on the back of the ramp truck and bring two cars to go testing today and then I said to myself you know what Mike you don't ever test you never test so why are you going to cram two cars into one test session you can't drive them both at once Mike what are you doing so I resisted the urge to put a car on the back of that ramp truck and uh yeah it's weird I bought a ram truck so I didn't have to follow the trailer rules and now I'm towing a trailer with my Ram truck uh it's weird I know but uh there's a reason and and it just means that maybe on the way home after we're done testing we could put a car on the back of that ramp truck which my wife would love we're almost there come on girl maybe just a a hair more oh it's a lot smells Bridge it's cranky woo wonder if we fouled the spark plugs could be it wants to start well that's weird what's that backfiring out of the exhaust ex lust mhm it's very weird never used to do that I don't know what it is this car ran perfectly fine yesterday picked my kid up from school in this car went home swapped it over to race mode last night with you you drove it into the trailer or to the trailer to the trailer yeah and now fir right up R right it is really cold out and it does not want to start so and so what are we doing you're weed fuel yeah we have tried riching up we tried leaning it out we put we taken timing away from it we've opened the butterflies we're now going the other direction closing the butterflies um we can smell fuel it's not like we don't have fuel we have it we just don't have the right mixture right now she does not want to run I thought about putting my hand over one of one or two of those but did you see that one video where the a fuel guy started the car oh I got Nitro yeah I don't want that let's just cut to that real quick he was practically eating blower parts that was yes Nitro no joke I'd be lucky if that guy's got a hand left all goodness here we go there we go baby come on baby come on [Music] baby I'll give it a little close that close that knob a little more try again there we go yay [Music] test day at Alabama Dragway and there's only four of us here how nice is that nevertheless 10 getting ready to make a hit all right everybody let's go make our first test pass please [Music] start so if this goes well we'll probably put the bigger throttle body on okay do you think that that's a problem it loses boost as it goes down track okay that checks out when you put the other bigger throttle body on it doesn't do that well there you go but the other throttle body is like the first iteration of it and um the clearances aren't right so once the thing gets hot the throttle hangs open that doesn't seem ideal yeah and on the street it's kind of uh annoying so I've been I've been driving around on the road trips and taking kids to school with this throttle body right and uh you know we'll start today's test with it I got you the whole time I've owned this car I've been trying to baby the transmission and so I've been granny shifting either by using the clutch and lifting off the gas and selecting the next gear or as of late I've just been not using the clutch at all once I get out of first and I've just been letting off the gas grabbing the next gear getting it back on that is not the quickest way to do this this first four gears are uh face plated there are no synchros so in theory you can grab it and just go the next gear I've never done that because I'm afraid of breaking the trans and because this uh this trans doesn't want to come out of gear unless you unload the input shaft just a little bit so for today what we've done is we've set up a rev limiter that's 200 rpm lower than our overall rev limiter for the engine and in theory once the engine sees 7700 it should softly hit the Rev lier I should be able to grab the next gear and so we'll try that today we'll just leave our foot on the gas and just try to bang gears all right that's a pretty good burnout take it I think we just broke the trans or the drive shaft yep I think we just broke our transmission you got to be kidding me I think we just broke the trans clut rear trans something we got big pieces Ah hell let's get it out of the way it's moving every it's uh puking stuff everywhere oh my God I think we just blew up the transmission wow sorry brosi you have a spare trans with you or no no do you have a spare trans no this is a brand new transmission you have another one no okay no wow well I would say it's making more horsepower it looks like a broke the case I haven't looked but I saw the reverse lockout solenoid laying on the ground yep oh my God I just feel bad we just pooped all over the track these dudes want to test their cars and Here I Am leaking on the bright side I'm going to get home in time to go to my kids wrestling tournament so Mike left the line and it looks like it blew up the rear end just grenaded it I mean look at all this and I'm stuck to the track again oh oh my God that does not sound good that was a brand new transmission Mike I'm really bummed out I know you're more bummed out I was really hoping for you to see the car go down the track transmission or rear I think it blew up the transmission dude it broke the back of the transmission apart [Music] holy crap the whole tail shaft the back of the transmission that's what it broke yeah exploded that's crazy soon as I let the clutch out just bang yeah I know this is going to be a short video guys uh sorry um pretty attain didn't didn't expect that no literally did not I've never done that it seems like every time with this car are it's something new we're not always doing the same things yeah look at that it blew the tail shaft out of the transmission well the proof is in the pudding folks Jesus not double clutching like you should dude completely exploded gone and so it looks like I'm pulling a transmission again I'm tired of making videos about clutches and Transmissions people I really am here we go again should have brought the rubber duck could have broke that one too hey hush oh my God I cannot believe it blew it up I was trying to go out there dude I lost my shoes one time I barely made it to the side I lost my shoes and my side he was in his bare feet out there trying to peel his socks off the track it it was going to go like it was like it's stuck it was going to go so uh Alabama International Dragway track hooks I guess we know that um and 40° weather that this track's good yeah it wanted to go we didn't get very far look I didn't even get the pine needles from the Christmas tree I hauled yesterday off this thing they're still on there that's how slow we went today there's the pine needles are still there this says kind of a reminiscent of Phoenix just break the beam this it supposed to better than Phoenix this was supposed to go better we all set to yeah we were ready like car was well I mean at least it happened here not day one of the next Dragon Drive event you know at least we we've now found out all right there's there's a problem it wow you think they're going to warranty that it just blew apart the entire tail shaft housing of the transmission um wow you know we with a two-step set real conservative 3,000 RPM soon as I let the clutch out car hooked and just didn't go anywhere wow but that's why we came testing find out what could go wrong and we just found out worst case scenario that uh I don't know if the output shaft broke in half turned sideways and then got wedged in there or what happened but yeah dude is unhappy uh so yeah that um that's going to end our day of testing we're going to load it up take it home pull the trans out send it back to GeForce I I don't even know if there's a warranty for this sort of thing you know it's a racing part who knows um we may have just flushed you know7 $8,000 worth a transmission down the toilet I don't know we'll find out here we'll report back to you guys as always and um we'll keep working at it we are we are not going to an event until this car is right promise you be [Music] careful my poor dve shaft what do you think of your first time at a drag strip pretty [Laughter] badass oh that's not supposed to look like that so there's the problem folks see over here that that's fine that that's good from here to here all good but here to here that's bad that uh that shouldn't look like that should be more uh what's the word [Laughter] sturdy oh my God yeah you shouldn't be able to see inside of the transmission you know in this area that's not good quality research and destruction baby oh dude I forgot about on the destruction so uh everybody at
