Welcome to episode 4 of the Cabin Build Series In this week's video we are going to show how we built the walls of our house in just 2 days I'm Eugenia, and this is Pepe, Aspen and Lolita and we are now building our new home we have been traveling around Europe for the past year in our self-converted camper-van but looking to live a simpler life, grow our own food and build our house led us here Thank you for watching, liking and subscribing We finally started assembling the first wall. It will go on the long side of the house and it is fully closed, it does not have any windows or any openings. We used 2 tracks, one in the bottom and one the top. 13 vertical studs and to block everything and provide lateral support we added a track connecting all the studs right in the middle height. The front facade of the cabin will be a huge door, so we can open the whole space up to the garden. Since that door will be big and heavy we installed a back to back stud right where the hinges of the door will go. That way we make sure the connection is strong enough to support all the weight. This top track is the last piece to screw before standing the wall up. The walls go screwed through the bottom track directly to the lateral beam underneath it, with big screws. If you are getting lost with technical names we explain how everything is called in our previous video you can find it in the link, here in top right corner Since we are only two people doing this, we had to come up with an idea to help us stand the wall up by ourselves. We screwed pieces of scrap wood on the side, that way we made sure the wall wouldn’t slide out of the platform and also helped us set it flush to the side. At this point we braced the wall. This is probably the most important moment in the whole build, because everything we do from now one will rely on the verticality of this first wall. It is very easy to do, we braced it with a piece of track, first we screwed the bottom side to the front of the platform and once that was secured Pepe used the level to make sure the wall was perfectly vertical before securing the top part of the bracing. and we repeated the same process on the other side Now that the wall was already up and secured, we were able to attach all the screws from the other side it's been a long day and it is 9 AM This second day we made the last wall, the process is exactly the same than the first one. With the only difference that this one has a long window on top of the kitchen counter that looks over valley and will get direct views of the sunsets. And just like that, all three exterior walls of the house were done in one day and a half here is a final look of it
