good afternoon everyone and welcome especially a warm welcome to the folks who are joining us for the first time we're really excited to have you here Gartner put out a report last week in which the name Dodge has one of the three dominating vendors in the SDN space it's of course a fantastic validation for Dodge it's also a testimonial to the fact that we've been leading the charge in really helping customers transform their IT and building truly programmable automated software-defined data centers and that's exactly what we've been demonstrating to you guys in last two years yeah what we have shown you is we have shown you the declarative policy-based automation that we have as part of the wash solution that allows for all workloads virtual virtualized workloads containers bare-metal servers to come up and get attached to the network as soon as they are instantiated we have shown control plane scale and convergence critically important when you have multi data centers when you have workload mobility when you have a very big part that just cold boots and cold starts how quickly can that come up that's when the control points kale and convergence become critically important and we've shown that we've shown what truly policy-based V tap integration is all about it's not about a VSD bein open flow to any V tap and claiming victory it's about how you actually extract that V tap into a policy based mechanism how all those ports are truly available to be used arbitrarily and applied policies to through a declarative policy engine will also show new application designer where we truly get the network completely out of the way to allow for developers to get that efficiency and not deal with any of the networking constructs when they want to deploy applications rapidly onto any cloud private or public we watch your song and this was somebody talked about this earlier we've shown 100,000 containers come up get activated in under 10 minutes all through a policy driven engine and finally we have made sure that in every encounter that we've had with you folks will be a very hosted you we have and Steven refer to this you've raised the bar so today we're gonna do the same we are going to show you something new that you haven't seen because while everything that we have shown you is from our perspective really the complete Sdn solution it's a complete Sdn solution because it hits on all key tenets of Sdn abstraction automation control and visibility in terms of visibility we early this spring we actually this is also is a industry first we demonstrated what we call as the virtualized services the surance platform which allows for very tight correlation of overlay and underlay again absolutely in its industry first so why have you shown this we're not quite done yet because as we are engaging with the customers we are uncovering new use cases and speaking of new use cases that's exactly what we're gonna do today you're going to show you some very interesting use cases but before we go into that and before I tell you what those use cases are I'm going to for the folks who are new I'm going to do a very quick intro of nuage and give you a very quick update on where things are at since the last time we met and then we'll get into the demo so we started nuage in January of 2012 with the idea and the thesis being that we wanted to make networking as consumable as compute had become that was the thesis we launched naväge a year later in April of 2013 where we delivered exactly that we delivered a boundary-less network multi DC from day one that allowed for Federation that allowed for workload mobility that became consistent quick simple and reliable our solution is open wherein we provide complete flexibility without compromise in terms of automating and virtualizing any existing network infrastructure independent of any hypervisor technology whether it's KVM Xen ESXi and we support any combination of a cloud management system the VM very CAC OpenStack as well as cloud stack and we support any combination of there off and in fact that's how our customers are deploying it and best of all we have a policy driven automation that allows for any workloads to come up and be connected to the right network instantly as soon as they're instantiated our customers have taken advantage of this in the last two years to build highly automated highly programmable highly responsive private and public clouds this is the virtualized services platform it's a software suite wherein we have three components the virtualized services directory that's really the programmable business logic and policy engine it also have has an analytics engine back by Hadoop cluster that's where you define the service templates that's where you define the business logic the virtualized services controller is our Sdn controller and the virtualized services controller is the one that runs the Alcatel Lucent 7050 service router operating system if the operating system is deployed in over 500 service water networks for the last 10 plus years actually more over 500,000 routers are in the ground for various applications are running this so it's a very hardened OS that gives us a solid advantage in that we can very quickly right from day one interoperate with any existing network edge router that's at the edge of the data center and finally the virtual routing and switching engine which is basically our agent that sits in the user space and communicates with OVS to look for the workload vm or container activation events deletion events it is the one that is programmed from the virtualized services controller and it is the one that enforces layer 2 layer 3 layer 4 policies it is the one that allows for layer 2 and layer 3 distributed communication and you also have a hardware V tab gateway to connect the legacy environment into the VX LAN overlays I talked about the fact that the virtualized services controller has MP BGP based control plane it runs BGP and and because it runs BGP we are able to offer Federation from day 1 so as I said multi DC has been available from day one it's a no-brainer for us workload mobility from day one in addition being able to interoperate with any existing router that's sitting at the edge of the data center to allow for seamless connection of the VPNs is available from day one so that's what is the virtualized services platform and this is the platform that's been available since April of 2013 and in the in the last two years of us providing and making this platform available by the way we are on our fourth release and we just released that and now we are working on our fifth one but what we have done in a short amount of time is we've garnered some major deployments we have 25 plus deployments of very large enterprise customers we are talking about fortune 100 fortune 50 customers of some of the largest cloud service providers and here across all three theaters in Europe Middle Eastern Africa in North America and also in APAC you have 85 plus pilot deployments and we continue to convert these into real production deployments these are not quite employments these are at scale deployments of thousands of VMs and as I said insistant across the DC and be able to exchange the white area very seamlessly we continue to expand the use cases that we cover as we engage with the customers as we come out with the new releases and as we uncover them we add them to the portfolio and that's what you're going to see some of the additions that we've done based on talking to the customers based on really collaborating with them to understand what their use cases are what their pain points are and that's what we're going to show you today finally we have already a very rich ecosystem because we understand that we can't be alone in this there's a very rich ecosystem of partners we work with and we continue to expand that we also have been you might have noticed this via our nuage BSP OEM by HP they offer it under ecn brand name and we continue to participate in community projects open source projects we are contributing in OpenStack since Icehouse we continue to and we're the only ones who are also collaborating and contributing in cloud sac we are starting to contribute in docker and today in fact we are taking the next step what I'd like to announce is a github project for watch what it is it's really ability for customers to share each other's experiences share the things that they are looking at in terms of the tools the scripts that they have developed for automation for monitoring the network and and this is by the way already a thriving community is just we are making it official here it's on gate it just went live about 20 minutes ago yes we always like to do new things and all these things in front of you guys so this is very much live right now and again it's really to foster agile innovation where customers are leveraging each other's innovation as well as participating so they can issue pull requests on get and share and contribute examples ok so when we started our newest project we already knew that what we were doing in terms of the architecture that we had was going to be applicable in terms of the automations in terms of the operational simplicity not just in the data center but beyond the data center and as we have engaged with the customers we validated that and that's exactly what we are going to talk about today because if you look at the reality the new reality if you will of enterprise IT what you find is that users are hyper distributed they're everywhere and they're using collaborative applications that are bandwidth intensive to collaborate with each other so there is a lot of multi-point traffic going on rather than hub-and-spoke type of traffic as well as the fact that they need to then also access their applications and where are the applications the applications are in the private cloud in the public cloud in the SAS cloud and they won't access to those applications instantly when they need them from wherever they are anytime anyplace and to any cloud but of course the problem is that while we have been talking about and focused on automating and making the data center programmable the users where they are coming from ie the branch networks over the white area are stuck in the past their archaic and really irrelevant because they are based on classic hub-and-spoke technologies based on closed proprietary systems that have been there for years so it's very in congruent where you have a wide area network which is where the users are they want to access the highly agile highly programmable highly automated cloud but it's not consistent so if I want to bring up a site and I want to do it the way I go to activate my cell phone and if I want to change my plan I go to a self-service portal and I change my plan why can't I do the same when I want to bring up a branch location for an enterprise and that's exactly what idea is when we talk about the SD van category if you will and this is what we launched when we launched virtual network services this was launched in December of last year where we talk to the customers and what the customers told us categorically is that we want when you talk about as the end we want you to consider Sdn not just for the data center or not just for the white area we want you to consider the data center and to end and we want to have the automation capability and to end from the data center to the branch because what you see in the market today is you have vendors that are focused on providing automation Sdn based automation only for the data center or only for the white area but not both but the fact is that today's cloud is really a branch and tomorrow's branch depending upon what applications are being hosted at their branch can be a cloud so you can't really think about those two things separately and that's exactly what we are delivering and this is exactly what we are going to demonstrate to you today what we are going to talk about is how you have completely rethought the network services wide area network services that is how we have made them completely automated on-demand and cell service and that's the first demo you're going to see the second demo you're going to see is what happens when you need tools at their branch location that you want to enable on the fly how do you do that how do you leverage the power of Linux to do that and that's what this table is gonna show you and finally here's the other reality of enterprise IT every customer that we are deployed in every one of them including all the financials they today have workloads in AWS in GC and they want the ability to have the same policy based infrastructure that they're using with nuage in their private data center also to be applied to the AWS VPC and guess what with NOAA's you can do that and you're going to show that to you today so those are the three demos you're gonna do first up is Rotem Salamone which he runs the nuage vns program in product management so he's gonna do that and then we're gonna have a SAN Cazale he's gonna show us with sort of our partnership and BD ecosystem team and he's going to show the AWS bursting but with the nuage policy yeah is that an intent I mean is that never gonna do or no no absolutely not another roadmap something we'll talk about later it's a great question in fact I mean I don't personally use hyper-v but I mean this there you go I mean that could change tomorrow next year no no push with the newer version coming out so the VR right from the get-go we are in very close collaboration with our customers as I said and exactly the comments that you just mentioned is the discussion that is happening which is customers the requirement was the heaviest excited a you don't have automation they're looking at OpenStack KVM but we don't know how to migrate the workloads we don't know how to get the automation simultaneously for OpenStack and cave ESX and KVM workloads well we do that we allow for you know p2v migration when you have your own tools there you have our tool for hyper-v customers are just starting to ask that and that's going to be available in the next release so the next to me that we are working on we'll have the hyper-v support along with STV mm integration okay and the next thing is is you you listed distributed l2 l3 is that virtualized physical I assume virtualized yeah it's it's the third component of our which is the VRS really a user agent running in Linux that control collaborates and communicates with OBS it's an adjunct of the OBS we didn't do any modifications we take obvious from upstream okay and that's what we leverage then to provide distributed layer through layer 3 and therefore you know communication okay so you didn't you didn't create your own no no you don't know care the absolutely Lake upstream OVF okay yes but that answers a question there Thanks perfect good right right right right cuz I mean obviously where I was going was I was assuming that you created your own that was in kernel space like getting the hypervisor or something like that but do you that makes do you reuse any user space processes and from our yes yeah we're we're using a Ford so there's basically a base part of it and then thank you sorry so we will use we reuse part of the user space but we have a whole set of libraries on top of that
