for his General player for such a player it is so poor he's almost like a League 2 player does Ellen hen a lot of times have a Bad Touch yeah does his link up play the best no I think he's bang average I've never seen an out andout goal scorer not want to get involved more than and Holland because he isn't the player that everybody thinks he is he's not a good footballer if he's not getting service and he's not doing well his teammates are actually bypassing him no goals scored against Liverpool or Arsenal or or Real Madrid the guy had six passes yesterday guys 90 minutes six passes completed if you're not looking for harand he's not beneficial what you need to be better at everything man everything erling Holland might be the only player in the world to be criticized for doing his job too well Premier League record breaker in 2023 after scoring 36 goals European golden shoe winner after scoring 52 goals in all competitions and treble champion and yet the way that people talk about him you would think Holland is some random player who just got lucky this is a guy who came in and conquered the best league in the world in his very first season he has scored for fun in every country and League he has ever been in so why is one of the best goal scores we have ever seen constantly being slandered I think a part of it is his play style at Manchester City Holland isn't involved in the buildup like a Harry Kane Benzema or Lis Suarez some games he's used more like a decoy attracting the attention of the Defenders to create more space for the creative midfielders like f Oden and de bro it got to a point where he had single touches in games people were even claiming that Manchester city was a better team before Holland was sign he may have actually picked the wrong Club we're not seeing everything of alen Harland so they're a different team and a lesser team with alen Harland in the team maybe it's also the fact that Holland on the ball doesn't look aesthetically pleasing it's just pure speed and strength rather than finesse his passing and dribbling were not near the levels you would expect from a player who was on the Balon door Podium his game G also requires service from the other players if he isn't receiving through balls or crosses then it's difficult for him to create chances on his own needs to be served I told rodri that uh please look look for me in behind because the space you you said please I also told Bernardo Silva to put it in behind uh didn't happen but he wasn't always like this when he was growing up playing for burn at age 15 he was known for his technical ability and creativity he was skinny and weak weak meaning he would be bullied off the ball or pushed due to his lack of physical strength so he relied on his skills he hadn't gone through his growth spur yet and found himself at a physical disadvantage especially since he was playing against older kids but he was so good that it didn't matter what he lacked in strength he made up with his ability on the ball and more importantly goal scoring at such a young age he was already scoring for fun against 18-year-olds he was even called up to the under 15 Norway national squad after his impressive performances he moved to mold in 2017 where he would go on to score 20 goals in 50 appearances at just 17 years old he scored four goals in one game against Bron but just like we are seeing these days despite scoring Holland was still being criticized Scouts and coaches felt his physique and coordination needed to develop for him to actually get to the next level this is where Holland would start to develop physically working hard in the gym to build size strength and stamina impressed by what he had shown H moved to Red Bull salsburg in January of 2019 salsburg had been keeping close tabs on Holland for years before pulling the trigger sporting director Kristoff Frey revealed that he had watched him many times up close to learn more about the striker Holland only played five games from January to May for salsburg before traveling to Poland for the under 20 World Cup there he made history by scoring nine goals in Norway's 12- nil win over Honduras finishing as the tournament's top scorer returning from the tournament Holland was given the starting Striker role under Jesse March and he did not disappoint scoring six goals in his first League game of the season he ended the season with 28 goals in 22 games including five hattricks one of them coming in the first half of his Champions League debut after scoring a hattrick against Hank Holland scored in the next four group games to become the first teenager and only the fifth player ever at the time to score in five consecutive Champions League matches you see he was always scoring even at a young age the one thing he has been consistent at everywhere he goes is getting goals by now every club in the world had taken notice of Holland's ability his development had been so extraordinary and spectacular that even those around him were shocked but there was still criticism around him his own father admitted that despite the goals he was still a raw player he still had to learn more about being involved in the buildup play and improving his on ball abilities what Holland also needed the most was consistent playing time in a strategic passion Holland and his father thought carefully about their next move they chose Dorman a young team that needed a striker his father admitted that this was a crucial point for Holland's development tall fast and strong Holland immediately took the Bundesliga by storm Holland made his debut for Dorman away to Augsburg on 18th of January 2020 he came on as a second half sub as Dorman were trailing 3-1 within 22 minutes Holland scored a hattrick to help secure a 5-3 win over the course course of the next 2 and 1/2 years in Germany the gigantic Norwegian would go on to score 86 goals in 89 games he was no longer the skinny kid we saw at burn as the Norwegian imposed himself physically on every single opponent Dorman relied on him more on the ball he was a very different Striker than what we were seeing at Manchester City he broke the top speed record in the Bundesliga by running at 36.4 kmph the physical attributes that he once lacked were now his best qualities as he began began to rise to superst startom in only 2 and 1/2 years Holland had developed the skills that every club in the world wanted in a striker and it was inevitable that the biggest clubs in the world would come knocking for him it does seem like everybody in World football is talking about him and would love him to to sign for them I think that this guy can go anywhere and make things happen for anybody now it seem to pick and choose with the world that is fingertips Holland decided to go to Manchester City for the next point in his career it checked all the boxes he would get to join a team that was missing a number nine City Had Creative midfielders everywhere from foden Bernardo Silva de bruo to Gan and MZ who could help create chances for him all they needed was somebody to convert those chances into goals on top of that he would get to play Under the best manager in the world it also helped that Holland was a lifelong Manchester City fan due to his father playing at the club there were a few people that didn't expect the Norwegian to continue his form from the Bundesliga into the Premier League his debut in the immunity Shield didn't help either as he missed an easy chance and City ended up losing 3-1 to Liverpool but while these critics thought they were right the rest of the world saw that he was the missing ingredient for a Manchester City team that had dominated the Premier League as soon as the actual season started he couldn't stop scoring Holland scored twice on his League debut against West Ham United then later in the month he scored his first hattrick in a 4-2 win against Crystal Palace Just 4 days later he scored another hatrick against Nottingham Forest this made Holland the fastest individual in premier league history to score two hattricks beating the previous record by 14 matches he broke another record when he scored a hat-trick against Manchester United becoming the first player in premier league history to score a hattrick in three successive home game by the end of the season Holland had reached 45 combined League goals and assists equaling Terry on his record for most total goal contributions in a 38 Premier League season he also won the Premier League Golden Boot and the European golden shoe with 36 goals and 35 appearances he set the new record for the highest number of goals in a Premier League season what's crazy is that Holland was exceptional in the Champions League as well 12 goals and one assist in the competition as the Norwegian helped City finally overcome an obstacle that seemed impossible to pass you would think that at this time even Holland's biggest haters would have been silenced but the focus of these guys now went to Holland's lack of involvement in big games like Holland on the field who we've talked about so highly not managing to make a proper impact in the game he's got to do it in the big moments though mate that's why doing it at Luton on a Tuesday night in the FA Cup you know he's he's got to do it in a massive game he's got to do it in a final do big game while he was exceptional in the beginning of the Champions League campaign his stats did begin to decrease as he failed to register a goal or assist against Madrid in the semi-finals and Inter Milan in the finals there were even certain matches where Holland had single digit touches in the game barely being involved as a result even though he was in the ballondor conversation there was a lack of respect towards his achievements from That season the criticism continued into the 2024 season where Holland's lack of involvement in Manchester City's quarterfinal match against Real Madrid was highlighted despite the Norwegian being the Golden Boot leader again even after missing a chunk of games due to injury it seemed that he had had a disappointing season I guess that is an example of Holland's greatness that now even a 25 goal season seems subar the reality is though that Holland is doing his job the amount of attention he gets from Defenders helps City score especially from outside the box Roger's goal against inter doesn't happen if someone like Holland isn't pushing the defense back City also now have a direct Outlet when they're trying to play out of the bat the kind of work that Holland does doesn't always make him look good individually but it helps the team as a whole everywhere Holland has gone he scores 29 go goals and seven assists for salsburg 86 goals and 23 assists for barusa Dorman and 88 goals and 15 assists for Manchester City the guy is a freak when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net he even has 27 goals in 31 appearances for the Norwegian national team wherever he goes whoever he plays for you cannot stop Holland from putting the ball into the back of the net we are seeing a generational striker in front of us I think it's time to start giving him more respect to see another Manchester City player who doesn't get enough appreciation check out this video on Bernardo Silva
